"This little restaurant, an off - shoot of a Tokyo - based eatery, boasts an unusual speciality: eel! The unagi is meticulously crafted and seasoned with soy sauce, or sanshô, an Asian pepper. The vast majority of diners who come here are Japanese, which gives an idea of the quality of the cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

I loved my dinner here! The food was simply amazing and the staff was super sweet. They spoke good English and were able to explain everything very well. I’ve never had unagi with this nice lemon gras seasoning before, but i absolutely loved it. I would come here again in a heartbeat

Recommended by my work colleague. It was how it was recommended! It was as authentic as Unagi eaten in Japan. As it’s difficult to have good quality Japanese cuisine like this in Europe , I enjoyed this rare opportunity in Paris.

Food was nice, service was ok. Except one of the staff member kept peeking her head from the wall to look at my table if we were done. Be it to serve us or to clear the table, I would’ve preferred she had done it in a subtle manner than constantly poking her head out (I was sitting against the wall at the corner so there was no way she was looking at anything else). Wouldn’t go back due to the unpleasant encounter.

The food was okay — akin to some of the worse unagi restaurants in Japan. Atmosphere was very uncomfortable and the price was extortionate for taste and portion.

The restaurant serves one dish and one dish only: eel or unagi on rice. The appetizers are good looking but a little too salty to my taste. The grill eel is perfectly done. Crispy on the surface but tender and tasty inside. The sauce mixed with rice cooked just right (not too dry not too soft) accompanied the grilled eel in an excellent balance.

An authentic unagi restaurant nestled in the heart of Paris, just a stone’s throw from the Louvre and Palais Royal. The unagi is prepared from scratch, starting with whole, locally sourced eels, and it comes remarkably close to the flavors you’d find in Japan if you’ve ever had unagi there. Desserts are excellent as well, and the staff is exceptionally polite and accommodating. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and craving deliciously cooked, grilled eel.

Great restaurant, unique dishes. This place is a very unique restaurant specialized in cooking eel. The quality of the dishes is really high and won’t disappoint you. If you are scared by the idea of eating an eel, don’t worry you are in the right place to enjoy it at the best. Intense flavor, unique textures and creations (chips with eel’s bones are amazing). Price is fair considering the quality and the location. Recommended for Japanese cousins lovers and eel’s fans! I would love to come back again! It’s a hidden gem! Definitely recommend!

The eel rice bowl and eggplant were absolutely divine! The flavors transported me back to Japan with every bite, and the ambiance echoed the authentic dining experience. The staff were polite and attentive, making our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving an authentic taste of Japan right here in Paris!

Yelp
Loved this place so much we came here twice! My mum even suggested coming here again after the first time - it was her idea, I swear! :x If you're a fan of una-don, definitely check this place out. We also had the chawanmushi which was very unique as it was flavorful and really warmed our bellies and souls during the chilly evening. Super friendly service and easy to get a same day reservation for by booking via their website. I'm not a planner, so stumbling across this restaurant and knowing how accessible it is made me a repeat customer. 10/10 would recommend if you're a fan of grilled eel.

Yelp
We stumbled to this restaurant one evening unplanned, and were very impressed. It is unpretentious, friendly and genuine. We ordered everything eel and loved it!

Yelp
I am kinda surprised that there's only one review here. Actually the first review is pretty accurate. This is one of the traditional types of Japanese restaurants where the menu is quite simple and so is the food but very delicious and tasty! Nodaiwa actually has 4 locations in Japan besides this one in Paris. The food here is consistent and never a surprise. That is why we decided to go here. We ordered the Fuji dinner combo (200g) and the Kiku dinner combo (280g). These are both unaju's with different sizes. Combos come with miso soup and a variety of pickles. There are also a la carts that you can order from edamame to gyozas. Though we didn't order them, but I can assure you that they sure look delish from tables around us. Prices are a bit on the high side, and that's why the 4 stars. But hey, you get what you pay for. We enjoyed the food very much, and we sure will come back when we visit Paris next time!!

Yelp
Specializing in eel this place is a quiet, little resto tucked away on Saint honore . Very traditional Japanese food and beautiful dishes and service. Always one of my first stops in Paris.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered dishes with regular grilled and plain grilled without sauce. Both are good in most standard. Sauce is not as sweet compared with most other restaurants but is exactly I want. Good service and well explained the ways to enjoy the food. They are Japanese native and speak good English. Highly recommend and sure will come back. Again it's pricey but acceptable.

Yelp
Horrible service and incredibly overpriced, this restaurant is a total tourist trap and a rip off! I've never experienced such a rude waiter. Also brought ginger out without notifying me there would be a charge and when I asked him to remove it because he hadn't informed me prior to bringing it, he countered with well you don't know how to eat eel right. The eel was good quality but the sauce was pretty flavorless and I asked my boyfriend who is half Japanese and he said they do eat it with ginger. The ginger was also AWFUL quality. Besides even if I'm eating it wrong I'm the customer, I can eat it however I like. You think I come to a eel restaurant and this is my first time having unagi don? Really?

Yelp
One of the rarest Japanese restaurant in Paris that serve authentic Grilled Eel with rice (Unagi Kaybayaki). The hosts are very friendly and warm. The chef come to welcome any guest enter into the restaurant. I recommend the fruit salad as appetizer and the Plum Wine as drink along the main dish with Unagi. A little bit expensive but worth the price.

Yelp
My sister in law loves this place, so of course we had to go. We were there for dinner on a weeknight, didn't make reservations but got seated because we went right when it opened. I would recommend making reservations though. Their food is really good! It's not anything fancy, it's more of like a simple straight forward Japanese restaurant. I got the Unaju combo, comes with miso soup and other side dishes. The unagi was delicious, it comes over a bed of rice. Like I said, it's super simple but really delicious. I would definitely go back. We ended our meal with the black sesame cream dessert and 2 flavors of ice cream. Both very good. Oh, by the way this restaurant is SUPER quiet. My husband, sister in law and I were probably the loudest party in the entire restaurant! It's a really small restaurant so there aren't very many people to begin with. But for some reason none of them were talking! Or maybe they were, but very quietly.

Yelp
Way overpriced for the quality of food and looooong service. We were shopping in rue st. honore and wanted a quick bite for lunch, big mistake. The simple eel combo set was like 30 EUR, which is ok since we don't mind paying if the quality is good, then the wait was long and it's weird you have to wait 30 min. for a simple eel combo set. When the eel finally arrived (Unagidon), the meat was paltry, dry and tasteless, rice was uncooked, even the Unagidons you get in California Japanese supermarkets taste better. The quality and price combo makes this restaurant a scam.
