On a first glance, this place draws you in and is inviting. I could feel my insides smiling looking to see what I can find for my new pup. Then, you meet the people...and it's cold, rude and uninviting; they'll glance your way when you enter, then look at you as if you're a nuisance. The one hello I did get was when the owner saw me and walked past (how did I know she was the owner, I'll get back to that later).
I asked another woman a few questions about harnesses - I asked the difference between the Wildebeest and Easywalk harness, comfort-wise and what she'd recommend. Her response was condescending and not helpful, saying "your trainer will tell you which harness to get for their training protocol." I went on to say I will be training my dog myself, so she begins to tell me that I need to start with leash and collar training, then proceeded to rattle off books, etc., which is assuming I don't know how or never had a dog. I didn't ask and it was not helpful, but I wanted to be kind, and said thank you. (On a side note, if you asked, my past dog, was so well behaved, they thought he was a little person with manners. Additionally, I was a long-time volunteer at the dog shelter and I helped with training/socialization.) Since she seemed to really be into training, I asked what puppy school (for socialization) she recommended, she went blank, paused and maybe it was because she didn't know, she went on to make a snide comment that the only training school she knows are the SPCA ones, because "most people get their dogs there." As you can infer, that was her way of responding in a passive aggressive way when I told her I was getting a standard poodle that she frowned upon my decision. I'm not adopting a dog from the SPCA, does that make me a bad person, no, but in her eyes, I am.
I then left and happened to see the initial woman who said hello to me and asked if she was the owner and she was friendly. I told her what happened, she was apologetic, but then shrugged her shoulders and said "she's worked for me for 10 years." No mention of her speaking to her or making sure it doesn't happen again. So, is that indifference or that's how you want your staff to behave? I replied, "maybe she was having a bad day." However, you'll see this woman/staff have a bad day pretty frequently. I should've known as I perused the other reviews. Please look, it's all about how uninviting and how rude the people are here.
I don't know, but for me, there's no need for me to go back. There's nothing there enticing enough for me to return - there are other places that are welcoming, helpful, free of judgement, and without the rudeness/bad behaviour. Animal stores are usually fun and filled with kind people, this isn't one of them.
