If I had to recommend anyone visiting or living in NYC a place to go to for dinner and drinks, it would be NOFLEX. My friend and I decided to make a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and luckily, there was a time slot available that fit our schedule. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were seated promptly. When getting seated, my friend asked to have the booth seat and I didn't understand why at first. After taking a seat and turning around, I finally understood why -- the wall behind me had a digital LED display that showed off various NYC landscapes. I was fortunate enough to also have a view of modern artwork hung up across the walls.
For food, we ordered the mentaiko pork belly and hand rolled cigar rolls. My personal favorite was the pork belly, which was essentially bossam. What stood out about the dish was the radish that accompanied the pork. The radish was a great palette cleanser and complemented the pork well!
On top of the delicious food and dark, unique, and modern decor, the drinks were absolutely stellar. My friend and I ordered the Korean Yuzu Sour, Flex Not Tolerated, and Tiramisu Martini. Each of the drinks had their own distinct characteristic about them that stood out. The Flex Not Tolerated had a smokiness to it that made it seem as if you were at a campsite. The Korean Yuzu Sour was sweet, tangy, and fruity. The stand-out drink of the night for me was the Tiramisu Martini. I got this drink after I finished my food and it was a great dessert to finish off the night. It was chocolatey, not too strong, and the whipped cream was heavenly. I definitely still dream about having a tiramisu martini!
While pricey, the food, drinks, and ambiance in NOFLEX create an immersive, memorable experience. The next time I come back to NYC, I would love to carve out some time to visit in the afternoon as NOFLEX is transformed into a cafe during the daytime!
