The 31 Best Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | Eater

"Noir Dining in the Dark was founded in 2014 by Vũ Anh Tú and Germ Doornbos as a social enterprise to support the Vietnamese visually impaired community with stable employment. Guests dine in the dark, challenging their taste buds to identify ingredients without sight; this type of restaurant appears in a number of cities and can seem a bit gimmicky, but here the execution is on point. There are several carefully curated set menus to choose from, including a vegetarian option, and everything is prepared using the finest local and organic ingredients." - Linh Phan

This experience simply blew my mind. I'm so pleased this venue was recommended by friends. You must book well in advance of your trip, but you won't be disappointed. You have an option of Western or Vietnamese food, if you are up for the challenge, go for the Vietnamese. Once inside the venue and it's stunning reception area, whilst having a drink, you will be given a couple of games to challenge your senses. You play them blindfolded. The staff team are amazing, the food, although I could not see it, was fantastic. I have to thank the whole staff team for making this visit so memorable. Give yourself 3 hours for the experience, be on time or you will lose out.

VERY, VERY INTERESTING EXPERIENCE The staff is super wonderful . We came in on a rainy Sunday evening. We were greeted with umbrella upon leaving the car , towels to dry off, as well as welcome drinks (we had the option of a cocktail and a mock tail). The drinks were tasty, nothing to rave about. I would wish to highlight the curated interior of the lobby and bathroom. Very impressed. The decor and furniture of the lobby area was quite elegant. But let’s talk about the main event. An immersive dining experience where youre teleported into a sensory deprivation room. While the sense of sight is taken as the dining room is completely pitch black, other senses like hearing, smelling, feel and taste are enhanced . We opted for the 3 course (11 dish) tasting. It’s approximately $45 USD per person (before drinks) but totally worth it. All electronics or light emitting devices are stowed away into a private locker, and we were guided by our host. All hosts are blind and have memorized the layout of the restaurant. The service feels like tht of any noteworthy restaurant . All 11 dishes were interesting and unique . We liked some more than others, but the overall experience is worth EVERY PENNY! If you’re ever in Saigon (HCMC) ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST! PS. Sorry I wasn’t able to add more photos , no phones allowed 😉😉😉

My girlfriend and I dined at Noir: Dining in the Dark on 05Dec2025 as part of a package with the AO Show by Lune Production (highly recommend both - do reserve ahead). I booked online a day before and received confirmation within a few hours. This was one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve had. The 11-course meal was a delight overall, with a few standout dishes and others that were simpler but still pleasant. The space is stylish and inviting, easing you in before the main event. After a welcome drink and a short blindfolded activity to awaken your senses, the real journey begins - being guided in total darkness to your table. That moment was the most eye-opening. Our server, Phu, confidently led us through every nook and cranny with such calm precision. In complete darkness, she knew the space better than anyone else. It was humbling, and it made me reflect on how much we rely on sight. The first few minutes felt disorienting (I even got a little dizzy), but once I surrendered to the darkness, the experience became immersive and meaningful. My advice: relax, don’t worry about spilling anything, trust your guide, and fully give yourself to the moment. Good luck… to an experience that quietly reminds you that what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Brilliant and exactly what you expect. You arrive, get your briefing and choose your menu. Then you go into an extremely dark room, so dark that there is no difference between eyes opened or closed. We ate 14 dishes in 4 courses. Our waitress was absolutely brilliant, funny and so good at explaining everything from the location of your drink to her every move at the table. At first we were all a bit uncomfortable and scared, but by the end we were so comfortable and sad it was over! Seeing the menu items at the end also blew our mind. A brilliant experience from start to finish. You should definitely give it a try. We eat with our eyes first, so taking this sense away really changed the whole experience!

We had one of the most unforgettable dinners tonight — at Noir Dining in the Dark, Saigon. From the moment we walked in, everything felt different. We started with a little welcome drink and a fun blindfold puzzle to awaken our senses — and then we were guided into total darkness by the kindest, visually-impaired staff. Inside the dining room, there wasn’t a single flicker of light. Just our voices, our laughter, and the mystery of what was on our plates. We had no idea what we were eating — only the smells, textures, and flavors to guide us. It made every bite a discovery. The food was delicious and full of surprises, but what made the night truly special was the experience itself — trusting our senses, communicating differently, and realizing how much we rely on sight every day. After the meal, they revealed what we had actually eaten — and of course, we laughed at how wrong we both were! 😄 If you’re in Saigon and want a dining experience that’s romantic, humbling, and completely unique — we both highly recommend Noir. It’s not just dinner; it’s a journey through the senses.

well, you dine in pitch black. how dark is it? you really can’t see anything. whether your eyes are closed or open doesn’t make a difference. but you’ll get used to it since it’s mostly intuitive. food was really delicious. the best meal i’ve ever had. really couldn’t guess what i was eating. the waitstaff were really attentive. plus, it’s great that they employ visually impaired people as the servers. this is not just a meal, it’s an experience. if you’re in hcmc, this is a must try.

A great and humbling experience. We were served great food by a blind staff in the dark. The service was amazing. I am honored to have attended. Sharing photos of the before and after only. Had the vegan set.

An unforgettable and moving experience. Dining in complete darkness really made me appreciate every bite in a new way. The blind and visually impaired waitstaff were absolutely amazing — so kind, professional, and attentive. I felt completely safe and well cared for throughout. The flower service was also a lovely surprise, beautifully arranged and thoughtful. Noir isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a meaningful journey. Highly recommend!
