7 Great Bánh Mì In The East Bay - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Nom Nom Bánh Mì is located right near UC Berkeley, making it an ideal lunch stop for students or anyone touring the campus. Seek this spot out even if you’re not scheduled to be in area—their bánh mì with grilled chicken is perfection. This spot also has several vegetarian bánh mì options, like cream cheese, fried eggs, and lemongrass grilled tofu. And be sure to grab one of their lychee iced teas to wash it all down." - julia chen 1

Nom Nom Bánh Mì Opening With Classic Vietnamese Sandwiches in Berkeley - Eater SF

"Ever since she first moved from Vietnam to the United States in 1989, Trâm Dyck has dreamt of opening a banh mi shop. This spring, she’ll finally make that dream a reality with the debut of Nom Nom Bánh Mì in Berkeley. Dyck has sampled the Vietnamese sandwiches all over the Bay Area and has yet to find one that lives up to her memories. 'When we live in Vietnam, we take it for granted. And when we go abroad, we say, ‘That’s not banh mi,' she says. ‘It’s hard to find a good one around here. Either the bread is not right or the meat is not fresh. It doesn’t have to be really, really cheap and compromise the taste.' Nom Nom Bánh Mì occupies an 800-square-foot space at 2491 Telegraph Avenue, a former T-shirt shop just south of UC Berkeley. Building out a kitchen and going through the permitting process has been long and frustrating for Dyck, but she hopes she can get the restaurant open in two or three months. The 14-seat, contemporary shop — decorated with artwork depicting both Vietnam and Berkeley — will only serve banh mi, Vietnamese-style lemonade, Vietnamese iced coffee, and iced green tea sweetened with lychee. Dyck expects to offer nine variations on the classic sandwich, including Saigon-style chả (silky pork roll), pâté, roasted pork, grilled chicken, lemongrass beef, and sardines in a tangy tomato sauce — the last one is a personal favorite from childhood. Vegetarians can opt for a savory cheese banh mi, filled with Laughing Cow just like in Vietnam, or the vegan tofu with soy mayo. Each sandwich will go for $7-$9 — a heftier price tag than some spots that still manage to serve banh mi for less than $4, but Dyck says she’s using higher quality ingredients. And unlike a lot of Bay Area banh mi spots, Nom Nom won’t also serve spring rolls, desserts, smoothies, and other dishes. 'I know what I’m good at and I want to focus on one thing,' says Dyck. Too often, she says, local banh mi shops overly toast their bread to mask a subpar texture. While Dyck won’t make Nom Nom’s baguettes in-house, she managed to find a Vietnamese wholesale bakery that meets her high standards. 'When you bite into it, it has a slight crunch and your teeth sink into that soft, warm, chewy texture of the bread, and then bite a little deeper and you hit the crunch of the pickled daikon and carrots and pâté and meat oozing into your mouth — that’s the ideal, that’s what I’m aiming for,' she says. 'All of sudden, your mouth just says, ‘Hello, good morning!’' Stay tuned for more details when it opens later this spring." - Janelle Bitker

Google
Stopped in here before a concert with my partner and was excited to have bahn mi. This was one of the best bahn mi’s I’ve ever had, delicious, fresh, and the bread was perfect. A plus was the lychee iced tea and lemonade made in house, and their new offer of fresh spring rolls. 10/10 will be coming again!

Google
Got a bánh mì chả lụa (they call it a district 3 ? lol) and it was good! Normal and what you expect from a banh mi shop. What’s interesting about this place is their very lavish colorful names based off of areas of Saigon and other places in Vietnam for what would otherwise be pretty normal banh mis so it was a bit funny as a Vietnamese person but yeah. I also got the coffee which was quite good. Prices though… I mean it is Berkeley what can I say.

Google
Look at this meat!!!! It's so thin. The sandwich is 90% veggies. Thick football bready bites. Worse banh mi I've ever had

Google
From traditional Banh Mi to a California (bacon & avocado!), this great little shop on Telegraph is full of delicious food, great people watching, and friendly staff. Today I tried the Vietnamese coffee and noticed the subtext on the menu, "Sweet and strong, just like the Vietnamese lady who brews it!" <3

Google
i had the popular chicken banh mi, it was really good and reasonably priced! i would definitely come here again.

Google
The tofu pagoda and basil seed drink are my go to order. The owner is kind. I do wish there was a bathroom or water station for guests.

Marky Sparky

Google
Ordered 3 combo 1 chicken They really went light on the ingredients on the combo sandwiches. Not good for a place that specializes in bah mi. Won't be back

Google
OMG so flavorful and authentic! This is the real deal. Typical Berkeley sandwich prices, so don't expect a $2 sandwich, more like $8-10, but worth it. Bread is so fresh and flavorful, with just the right crispness to the crust. Excellent homemade pickles and strong iced coffee.

Yelp
I got take out and the price was reasonable but the food was meh. I got the tofu banh mi and it was lacking in vegetables and flavor- the bread was too fluffy such that it made the mouth dry. Small pieces of tofu and not enough stuff in the banh mi and not enough flavor! I did not like it but it was passable for lunch.

Yelp
Great Banh mi, the quality of bread is fantastic. A consistent go to and service is very good. Ambiance is chill college vibes as well. I've been here many time and have never been even slightly disappointed.

Yelp
I was taken aback when 2 orders of banh mi came out to be $30... Honestly was disappointed by the banh mi. The sandwiches were deceivingly smaller than they appeared in pictures... While the ingredients were fresh and the French bread was soft yet toasted just right, it wasn't really stuffed with meats or the stuff you actually cared about enough. Adding on an egg costs you an extra $2.25... like what?! And because they cut your sandwich in half, the egg is only placed on one half of your sandwich, loool. To be fair, at least it looks pleasant and isn't messy, but that's pretty lame that they jack up the price of an egg that much and it doesn't even fit the whole sandwich. :( Additionally, pate is an extra $2, which I could barely taste on mine so that was already a major bummer. Service was minimal - I did takeout. I don't really have a desire to go back after this unfortunately.

Leina N.

Yelp
$20 for a lemonade and a cha lua banh mi and side of pickled carrots. Lemonade was just okay. And bánh mì was good but mid. Pate tasted like it from can.

Yelp
Sucks to write a bad review, but I'd skip this place if you are looking for a good Banh mi. The lady working was nice, but the sandwich was seriously lacking. I spent $25 for two combo sandwiches with extra pate ($2 extra), and the pate was definitely not worth $2. To my surprise there was only one slice of meat, where usually the combo contains multiple types of meat. I understand that times are tough, but they may benefit from investing in upgrading their food to match customer expectations.

Yelp
Food: The banh mi was good, but the filling was light, especially for the price. It was mostly bread with a few thin slices of meat. Appropriate to what you'd actually find in Vietnam, but for an American restaurant and for American prices, it's a little small. I would be willing to pay a couple of bucks more for just a little bit more meat and veggies. I believe the price is high since they have to account for the rent located on Telegraph, a busy street. Drinks: We ordered the basil seed drink and lychee tea. They were great. The basil seed drink was sweet with a hint of that signature herbal aroma. The lychee tea was refreshing, and it comes with one lychee; not too sweet from the lychee, not too bitter from the tea. Very delicious Service: The lady behind the counter was very warm and welcoming, there was a few regulars who came in and created a familiar type of atmosphere. The restaurant itself, I think, may have been undergoing a slight/minor renovation as there were some boxes of stuff out, but not in the way of the seating. They have a couple of tables that could accommodate a couple of groups of a few people but not a lot for a big party.

Yelp
1 star for not letting my mother use the restroom. We planned to order food anyways and she was rude af! My mom asked to use the restroom while my bf ordered the sandwiches but she made him buy it first before she can use it. WTF! HORRIBLE!! Not only that but the sandwiches were disappointing. VERY stingy with the meat and bread tasted nothing like a banh mi. NOT AUTHETIC at all! I would not go here again for the food or service and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Been craving banh mi for some time. Decided to stop by here before our hike. First off, love the name. I always said if I had a bakery, I'd name it Nina's Nom Nom's. Too bad I'm not a morning person. Anyways, I digress. This place serves just banh mi: No pho, no spring rolls, no Thai iced tea, and no restroom. Got The District 3. Forgot to ask about the inspiration for the name but it comes with liver pate and pork loaf (cha). Pretty good sandwich. Not sure if it's because I was pretty hungry by the time we finished hiking, but the banh mi was very satisfying. If I'm ever in the area again for hiking and craving a banh mi sandwich, I know where to go.

Yelp
Being college students With limited time in our busy schedules, getting food for in our system is often neglected or under prioritized. But having a cheap solid sandwhich place like nom nom bahn mi close by really changes that. Being able to order via snackpass or in person, the wait was virtually nothing. The sandwhich quality was decent. although I feel like it is really hard to mess up a bahn mi sandwhich, I do feel like they could have put in a bit more meat. While the price was a far cry from what I am used to in the san gabriel valley, I am glad it is still below neighboring shops to give students a quick and affordable option. Also the nom nom bahn mi logo is kinda cool

Yelp
If youre craving for banh mi in Berkeley, then Nom Nom is your place. A cute little spot for a snack or quick lunch.

Yelp
Came to pick up my order and it wasn't ready after a time stamp to pick it up. The person that addressed me mentioned that she has a larger and far better order to fulfill than my individual item so I have to wait extra. I left. My money was never returned.

Yelp
I had the pagoda sandwich which is one of their vegetarian options, containing tofu. I think the lemongrass flavor could stand to be even stronger but otherwise it was decent. There's not a lot of banh mi places in that small area (south side of UC Berkeley campus on Telegraph) but it's likely cheaper to go somewhere else for the same size of banh mi. The lychee iced tea was also decent, it didn't really stand out to me but wasn't too bitter or too sweet for my liking.

Sarah R.

Yelp
I don't often leave reviews, but this place is so unbelievably good. I got the #7 Tofu Bahn Mi and it was the best one I've had, ever. The bread is so fresh and soft (I prefer that over a hard roll) and the flavors were intense, perfectly paired and amazing. I don't usually like cilantro and I ate the sandwich as is- with the cilantro. I am traveling for work, but honestly all I can think about is when I can come back and have another one. If I recall the menu correctly, this sandwich is vegan. I was full off of one (they also ask if you want those toppings, so you don't have to have them), but I can see why a previous yelper ordered 2 for themselves- it is that good! Also, I really appreciated the photos on the wall and the nice clean space with chairs and places to eat. I will definitely come back for a quiet lunch. The folx who work there were super nice and welcoming.

Sheena B.

Yelp
We ordered two sandwiches, the grilled pork and the pate loaf. Dry meat, not flavorful at all. Minimal toppings, stale bread. Price point was too high for what we experienced. Would not recommend. We visited in the early evening before a concert. Thought based on the reviews it would be busy and delicious. There were no other customers the entire time we sat there eating, and after our meal I understand why. Don't understand the high ratings though.

Yelp
Walk briskly past and you just might miss Nom Nom Banh Mi, in which case you might be doing yourself a favor. In their prime, their banh mi's used to be among the best in Berkeley, but recently, they've definitely missed the mark on more than a few occasions. The woman working the front is often rude and unpleasant, always making sure to give you a cold stare and snarky remark as you simply request a water cup. I'd excuse subpar service if the food was good, but the banh mi's are ok at best. The quantity of meat is always measly, and the sandwiches are small in size and inundated with carrots for some reason (the daikon that their menu insists on putting in their sandwiches is nominal). The only saving grace is the bread which speaks volumes as to how violently mid their sandwich is overall. Freshroll is down the street, but if you want subpar food and rude service, head here instead.

Vera W.

Yelp
Very mid and small overpriced $10 bahn mi sandwhich. Got the mehkong chicken sandwhich which wasn't bad, but nothing special. I liked the fact that it was nearby campus and warmed up though. Ordered online pickup and when I got there the lady was very rude to me. I asked if she could please cut the sandwich in half and she instantly rolled her eyes at me and said "you need to tell me earlier next time!" which I found very odd and offputting as it literally takes 5 seconds. A cute small shop, but nothing special. Very disappointing customer service. Spend your money somewhere else!

Yelp
Decent Vietnamese sandwich spot on Telegraph, Berkeley. Solid bread and pickled carrots/radish. Their jalapeño, however, is sliced into cylindrical cross sections - I prefer it normally cut into longer strips, like the cucumber. Great 'healthy' sandwich option if you want something filling, and want to take a break from Mezzo. Will be back more in the future!

Yelp
Fast, fresh, and flavorful! Nom Nom has been serving up my SO's favorite banh mi in Berkeley for the last few years and they're a local gem. The lady owner is super sweet too. Prices are a bit on the high side from the hole-in-the-wall type banh mi places in less expensive areas, but the sandwiches are a solid size and the flavors are super tasty. My personal favorites are the lemongrass beef (#5 - The Highlands) and the grilled pork (#9 - Tra Vinh) super flavorful and quality cuts of meat. My SO prefers the egg (#10 - Late Riser) or the classic combo (#3 - District 3) with eggs added. Also try the lychee iced tea or the iced coffee, both super good! Unfortunately over the last few years the portion sizes have gotten a little smaller for both meat in the sandwich and for the drinks, but the quality has remained the same. Definitely check Nom Nom out if you've got a craving for banh mi around the Berkeley area!

Yelp
I've gotten a million and one banh mis from this place, and there's really nothing to complain about. The banh mis are solid, and they stack them with the pickled veggies. For some people that would be a con, but I LOVE those veggies so keep them coming. The service has always been nice, and I really like their pate and pork loaf (the district 3 combo is my go-to). The tofu banh mi could use some more lemongrass flavoring on the tofu, though. It's also like...one of the only options under $10 on Telegraph besides Top Dog and Sliver, so good bang for your buck.
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
I loove the banh mi here (specifically the Telegraph cheese with grilled chicken). The bread always tastes fresh, and they also have some unique banh mi options that I haven't seen elsewhere. They offer vegan and vegetarian options too. I always order the Telegraph Cheese (cream cheese banh mi) and add grilled chicken (+$1.75). The cream cheese adds a nice creamy texture to the sandwich, and it's delicious. I thought it sounded weird until I tried it myself. Their lemonade is so good too, but they put LOTS of ice. I've also tried the District 3 classic combo & highlands beef - these were just ok. Overall, I love the Telegraph Cheese banh mi. The banh mi I get here costs $9. Not the cheapest banh mi in the area (ba le is only $4), but definitely still yummy and a great choice for unique banh mi's.

Lucy D.

Yelp
We dropped by the place on a weekday for lunch and was surprised by how cute the interior decor was for the place. Photos of Vietnamese daily life hung around the area, with wood accent walls gives a hint of modern and traditional mix. I ordered the District 3 - classic combo. Upon first biting into the Bahn Mi, I was immediately overwhelmed with the pickled carrots. And there was a lot of carrots, like ALOT. Interestingly, they were not pickled in the way I'm used to, less vinegary and much more sweet. The pork loaf had a good bite to it and the pate was creamy and smooth. Overall, the Bahn Mi was dryer than I preferred. Maybe more mayo and pate? Bread was tad bit dry and hard, but could've been due to take out. Lychee tea was refreshing. Strong lychee flavour in aromatic black tea, perfect pairing to the bahn mi. I'm hesitant to try any other Banh mi since it is not my preferred style. But very cute shop and friendly service!
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
Nom nom indeed! This sandwich was made to perfection! The grill pork was so flavorful. I got it with the works (pickled carrots + radish, cilantro, cucumber, and jalapeños). I expected the lychee tea to be on the sweeter side, but it wasn't at all - in a good way! I'm used to lychee flavored things to be extraaa sweet, but this was the perfect mix of black tea and lychee flavoring. Then when I finished my meal, the lychee garnish was the perfect dessert NOTE: must be fully vaccinated to dine-in I will definitely return when I have another banh mi craving

Matthew Q.

Yelp
If you want a overly charred pork banh mi this is the place. Viet coffee was also burnt flavored. Get the #2 Mekong chicken.
google avatar

Cari A.

Yelp
Nice, clean, and modern interior. There were a few tables for customers to enjoy their meal. I've been eating a lot of meat recently and decided to order a tofu banh mi for lunch. The bread was nice and crusty, but I felt that my sandwich was a bit on the dry side (3/5). However, my favorite part of my order was the basil seed drink. It had a familiar flavor that I really enjoy and it was nice and refreshing (5/5). Pros: -nice, clean interior -fantastic basil seed drink. Get it! Cons: -the tofu banh mi was a bit on the dry side for me
google avatar

Yelp
Very tasty but pricey. Par for the course these days. I'll stop by again when I visit Amoeba next time.

Yelp
I haven't had a good banh mi in a while, especially being back home in the Bay, so I'm soooo glad I waited for this place to open up! I first found this place on IG before they even opened! So I was able to witness this place come alive from building the inside to its grand opening! The owner, Tram, is such a sweet woman! After convos though IG message, I finally got to meet her during the opening! So if you ever stop by here, be sure to say hi to Tram! She'll probably be the one making your delicious and fresh banh mi! Okay so the banh mi - FRESH! Everything from the bread to the veggies to the meat: FRESH! Every bite I took included the bread, the meat and the veggies. Nothing tasted too overwhelming or not enough. The bread, however, will leave a mess so watch for that! Lol My boyf, sis and I ordered their beef, chicken and tofu. I didn't try the beef but their chicken and tofu tasted delicious! Tender chicken and packed with flavor. I was surprised with how the tofu tasted, too. I did not expect it to be bursting with flavor! I totes recommend getting the tofu one. Your taste buds will be shocked with how good it is. They have a pretty good spot in Berkeley. Street parking but what do you expect, it's Berkeley. Walking distant from a lot of other places and from the college. The price for each banh mi is fair. For the amount of meat and veggies and the size of the sandwich itself, it is worth it. They also sell Vietnamese iced coffee, too! Service? Quick and everyone working was really nice and welcoming. Overall, I really like this place and will for sure be back when I'm craving a fresh banh mi.

Yelp
New Bánh Mi sandwich spot opened it's doors on the 15th on Telegraph Avenue in Berkley! Shoutout to Rachel C. for taking me to try my very first Banh Mi sandwich. We got there around 4pm and ordered our food right away. The inside had a comfortable atmosphere with a restroom for guests. The location is perfect because it's right next to a few dessert spots. We ordered the Highlands-beef, the Mekong- chicken, and the Pagoda- tofu sandwiches. I got to try each one and the tofu was definitely my favorite with the chicken in 2nd place and then beef in last. The tofu and chicken sandwiches went so well with the amount of delicious pickled vegetables which were hella flavorful. Unfortunately.. I probably wouldn't order the Highlands-Beef for future visits. The beef in my opinion didn't have any flavor. I felt like I was just eating pickled vegetables, bread and something that resembled beef but without a taste. I'm not sure if all Bánh Mi sandwich spots use thick bread but I wish the bread was a little thinner. It felt a little much to have THAT much bread for the amount of vegetables and meat added. Parking wasn't an issue for us but I can see it being a little difficult considering it all being street parking. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Overall do I recommend this new Bánh Mi spot? Answer: hells yes for the Tofu sandwich! #roadtoelite
google avatar

Jacqueline F.

Yelp
My husband got a great sandwich, but I didn't. I had a snack, Vietnamese coffee and it was good. They accommodated us and sitting there was pleasant, even though we were in a pandemic. I wish they had gluten free bread and accouterments, but they didn't. But the sandwich looked good. I'd like to be able to have more than a drink. But it was decent which is why they are OK.
google avatar

Ali M.

Yelp
Pretty solid place for Banh Mi - Everyone in our office enjoyed it when we placed an order from earlier this week. Juicy and packed with flavor which is awesome because some places are just not up to par when it comes to that level of greatness. Will definitely keep this place in mind for the future!

Yelp
We were taking a late afternoon stroll on Telegraph when we happened to walk past Nom Nom. It was empty inside, but I caught a glimpse of the Banh mi prices ($8/ea) and I was interested. The pictures online and the reviews checked out, so in we went. Getting two fresh sandwiches and a coke cost just under $20, and they were ready in just a few minutes. Fast staff and they seem to just get the job done right. We took the food down to UC campus and sat at a bench to eat them. They were really good! The Mekong was great, flavorful grilled chicken, fresh veggie mix, a soft and chewy bun. Just great. My wife got the Saigon, she really enjoyed it. It looked good. TL;DR: Cheap & Great Tasting. Give them a try.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
We decided on Banh Mi for dinner after walking by Nom Nom and seeing its sign outside. Storefront itself is very clean and well lit inside, and the employee/owner(?) manning the counter was friendly. We opted for one Saigon (pate) Banh Mi and one Mekong (chicken) Banh Mi. Prices were as expected within the Bay Area at $7.25 /Banh Mi, and size was average. My gf who had not had Banh Mi in quite a few years really enjoyed it, and as an avid fan of Banh Mi, I thought Nom Nom's was pretty decent. We will most likely be back next time we are in the neighborhood. And we absolutely love the catchy name!
google avatar

Carly L.

Yelp
Mid service. Mid sandwich. Mid everything. The carrots and daikon didn't even have flavor and it was more carrots than anything, ironically. The sandwich itself was not soft nor crunchy. The meat flavor was not my favorite. It was $11! It was an insane price for whatever I was presented. It was sad, having expectations about this place being good but being so severely disappointed. I have yet to find a banh mi place at Berkeley that satisfies me.
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
Got the District 3 Classic Combo Sandwich! The price was ok but the sandwich was a little disappointing. Not as flavorful as others I've had in Berkeley and the portions were only ok as well. Definitely got more veggies that filled up the sandwich. If I do come again I would try the grilled pork (friend has spoken highly of it) instead of the District 3 Classic!
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
The District 3 is similar classic banh mi dac biet (if you know, you know), but without the headcheese. Steamed pork loaf "cha" was okay, pate, pickled radish, soy sauce all, cilantro all there. Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and smooth. Cons- they used American mayo, which kind of ruined the flavor profile. Bread seemed a little stale. Overall, banh mi is a little plain and pricey here but it was worth a try.

Yelp
Nom Nom is adorable. From the name alone, I'm already in love. Not only is the service great and the sandwiches bomb-- another plus is that their shop is absolutely charming (the window nook!) and has the perfect homey, cozy feel. I wish I was here around during normal times so I could really enjoy dining in. We popped in on a Saturday afternoon. For COVID safety purposes, all patrons and staff must wear masks and social distancing is enforced. Within 5~ mins of placing, we received our order neatly wrapped in a paper bag. Love that their core menu is simple and affordable ($7-9), sometimes supplemented by seasonal additions. THE MEKONG: Just everything I love about banh mi: Lightly sweet, juicy chicken + crispy pickled veggies, sauced up and tucked into a flaky-fluffy baguette. Nom Nom nails the bread-- it's just the right balance of crispy outside, soft inside. Appreciated that these came pre-cut. This place deserves so much more love! They even have vegan/veg/pescatarian options, which is freaking rare for banh mi. My bf had the Late Riser and was singing its praises. I can't wait to stop back here to try their other offerings. Shoutout to Yelp for putting this on my radar~
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
Had a grilled chicken banh mi and it was good! I was a little worried that the chicken would be dry but it definitely wasn't and the side components of the sandwich like the jalapeños and pickled vegetables were tasty. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Love Banh Mi! Great choices and the bread was light, which can be a problem when there's too much dough. Simple menu, tried each one with the family, and Lychee Ice tea. Ordered to go but there was seating. Park on Dwight and it's between Dwight and Channing and there no parking in front because it's near campus on the busy street of Telegraph.
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
What I appreciate about there sandwiches is that they are fresh. The freshness is observed from eating the cucumber, carrots and cilantro that's inside each ban mi. There is a good portion of meat in their sandwiches and a subtle amount of liver pate. The pork loaf nicely complements their house sauce. French bread seemed freshly made, not too much crumbling. Price point seems a tad much given the overall portion of the sandwich; generally these sandwich goes for around five to seven bucks. I can see myself coming back again to try the the same sandwiches!
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
What a great little shop! Its meatless! All the sandwiches here are made like traditional bang mi.... they have mayonnaise, cucumbers, pickled carrots, spicy jalapenos, cilantro, and a special house sauce. They are happy to increase or decrease the amount of any condiment to order at no extra cost. I recommend asking for extra house sauce and pickled carrots. The "Pagoda" is a tofu-based sandwich. They grill the tofu, which is seasoned with a lemongrass spice rub. Ask for vegan mayo, and this sandwich becomes entirely vegan! PRO-TIP: You can add egg to any sandwich for an extra fee. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pretty mid sandwich. I liked the pickled veggies, but it was quite plain otherwise. Bread was alright, not very high quality. Wish it was less dry and more flavorful

Yelp
Great quick&healthy lunch place! Also affordable! Food: Tofu sandwich $7pre tax The sandwich is of great portion! Totally fulfilling for a lunch and can help you power through the long afternoon. Also it's light, which doesn't make you wanna take a nap after lunch lol. There's plenty of veggie in it and the bread is so crunchy. I ordered the tofu sandwich and I cannot believe how soft and tender the tofu is! It's like chicken tender breast but even better. I don't know if the veggies are pickled but it has a mild sour taste that makes it so unique. But also not so heavy like pickles. Anyways, the food is amazing and I'm definitely coming back! Iced coffee: $3somthing pretax Vietnamese iced coffee is so in trend! This is my first try and it's very unique. The lady said it's premade with condensed milk. So if you are vegan or diary free, it doesn't really offer alternative options:( The taste alone is very unique. The first sip is strong in typical black coffee taste -- it's very bitter. However the after taste is so sweet. It's such a strong and unique combination of intense bitterness and intense sweetness. Environment: The little place is so cute! Very minimalism and aesthetic! And it's extremely clean:) Great thumbs up! In all, it's a wonderful place! There's not much healthy and affordable food choice around campus. This one is a must-have!

Yelp
Omg!!! I love this place!! Thank you Nick, Tram, and Venus for putting this place on my radar; especially Tram! These folx know how to make a Banh Mi sandwich. I have tried practically all the Banh Mi with meat in them and they are extremely delicious. They remind me of my home town and how much I miss the great authentic taste. They have one of the best Vietnamese coffees in the Berkeley area! I would recommend anyone to come here. The baguette has a great crunch and the fixing are all so delicious. Hands down best banh mi place in Berkeley. I have already been here four times in a week because I keep introducing folx! Again shout out to Tram and Nick for always greeting me with a smile and fantastic service!

Yelp
Nom Nom Banh Mi finally opens. 5ish tables. it was next to a juice shop (now closed). offerings: Banh Mi, drinks eats: The Ha Noi(pork loaf-6.50) -fresh baquette with minimalist portions pork roll, jalepeno slices, cucumbers, pickled carrots & daikon, cilantro,,...little mayo/dressing. -fresh but lacking in flavor and tastiness -not filling crumbs: -quick service. -maybe the pate is better...

Yelp
Good banh mi, quick service, located conveniently, priced decent! Stopped by for a bite the other day and wasn't let down. Great option for something a touch more filling but tastier than a simple sandwich. Tip: I ordered in-person, but noticed there's a deal on Snackpass while waiting for it to be prepared. Food itself was packed perfect for takeout and I enjoyed it at home. Would recommend and will be back.

Yelp
TLDR: quick and delicious meal! Perfect for people who are on the go. I came to Nom Nom Banh Mi after a long day of class. I decided to order the District Combo with comes with pate, pork loaf, mayo, pickled veggies, etc. I got a decent sized banh mi for the price of around $8 which is a pretty good price in comparison to other restaurants in the area. The sandwich was super yummy and satisfied my craving for banh mi. The bread was quite soft, the pate had a good salty flavor and the veggies added lots of freshness to the sandwich. My partner got the grilled pork banh mi which was also amazing! The grilled pork had great flavor and was juicy. The service was fast and efficient. My food came out in about 5 minutes and the staff even delivered the food to my table! It's a great place for very good banh mi and is a bit cheaper than other banh mi places in the area. I highly recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Overall pretty good flavor: bread is slightly toasted and very crunchy on the outside, pork liver spread is refreshing and picked radish is also a good addition. Downside is that nom nom is a bit on the pricier side for lunch at Berkeley, especially when the portion isn't huge compare to other quick lunch places on Telegraph. Pro tip: banh mi tastes a lot more refreshing WITHOUT the mayo!

Yelp
So happy to have a Bahn Mi sandwich place so close to campus! Came by on the first day they opened and I was amazed at how modern and spacious the place is. The prices for the sandwiches are around $7-9, pretty affordable compared to all the other food in the area. I got the combination sandwich and a lemonade. The bread is light and fluffy, with a nice crisp on the outside. Be careful when you eat though, since the bread can make a lot of crumbs. I really liked the sandwich - perfect balance of pate, veggies, and meat. For their hand squeezed lemonade, it was cold and sweet, really refreshing to drink on a hot day. This place is worth going back to. Plus, the owners are super friendly too.

Yelp
I really didn't dislike this banh Mi shop, but I didn't really like it either. The flavor of the pork was good and the pickled vegetables were good, nothing really made me say damn this is good. I can say its not a bad shop to get a sandwich. I will try something else from this spot. Also cashier was personable.
