Nomad Coffee

Nomad coffee is now under new management and it is from the only great barista in Burlington. Other cafes have ok coffee but only Nomad has Ronni! When they worked at great harvest, that place had the best coffee in Burlington. She left and the quality left with her. It was a bummer to think Vermont lost its only quality coffee expert but low and behold I find out she now runs Nomad and is training other coffee artists to brew creamy perfectly pulled lattes and herbal matcha. Nomad is staffed by people who give a damn about quality and performance and you can taste that difference in every cup of joe and bowl of soup!

Went here last weekend and the barista accidentally told us that our drinks were switched, and we had already put our cream in when we realized, which kind of was not great because then I was drinking my sister's vanilla milk with a splash of coffee, but it was not that big of a deal. Other than that, the baristas were all very nice and the vibe in the shop is great. I really like it there, I wish it was more accessible without a car because I would definitely frequent this place. It is also very affordable. I would definitely come back here; I've been here twice now and had good experiences.

Just writing a review to shoutout their matcha. Nicely prepared, good quality and not just a cup of milk. No one likes playing matcha roulette - but safe to say you can count on Nomad.

This is a cozy, warm location set up in such a way that one feels simultaneously enrealmed with community and apart enough for performing workplace tasks. The drinks and food are very good, of course. The most beautiful woman in the state of Vermont works here. Go for the food, the music, the uplifting atmosphere -- go for the right reasons, of course, you'll be blessed enough as-is -- but know that you very well may run into the most beautiful woman in this state, and who knows what kind of miracles that sort of presence could work on your life?

I am confused about a few things. There is no food menu, no website menu or QR code menu. Only menu is drinks at the front of the door. We came in and waited for some time to figure out we needed to go to the front 😓 Place is super kid friendly 👏 books 📚 drawing activities’ bravo! 🙌 We came here for breakfast as we saw nice pictures on google, we where disappointed when we realized there was no food menu. Maybe locals know how to order and we don’t. I recommend a qr code menu or website or print at table. That would of been less confusing us visitors. Drinks was nice.

First off, the service was exceptional. There were a couple staff members out on vaca but the one girl behind the counter was happy, helpful, very friendly, and quick. If the rest of the place was horrible I would go back just for the service!!! But the maple latte was perfect as was the fresh chocolate chip cookie from their bakery. Great place to get some work done on the laptop. Being my first time I was a little confused on how to get in the building and where to park but there is a door to the south and to the north in the complex.

Hands down my favorite local coffee shop in Burlington (Scout on Pine and Kestrel on Maple being close runners up). Located in a 100+ year old brick building that was once a chocolate factory, Nomad has perfect coffee shop vibes, delicious pastries made in house, tasty drinks and always friendly staff. There’s lots of seating for every mood - whether you’re there for a meet cute, a study session or simply to sit and enjoy the atmosphere with your coffee. There’s a lovely little outdoor seating area out back which is a nice spot between two old brick buildings and catches some sun in the morning. The rear entrance is also accessible with a ramp from the parking area. If you come at peak times the place is bustling and the line can be long, but the wait isn’t and it’s well worth it. Visit on a Saturday or Sunday morning and sample the Kouign Amann - a deliciously unique pastry with a flaky, crunchy, sugary crust and a soft delicious fluffy center. Enjoy the rotating art exhibits in the long gallery entrance, or take your coffee to go and stroll just a few minutes down Flynn Avenue and take in the beauty of Lake Champlain from Oakledge Park.

In the middle of our meal, I really started to rethink how any five star rating I've left up to this point might actually not have been five stars because nothing compared to how good Nomad is. We purchased our hot drinks and split a savory and sweet pastry all for under $20. First, it's affordable and fair. Second, big mistake on not just getting my own food; I would've liked to have had both things to myself. Big, BIG flavor. I love the way the pop tart was salted. I walked up to let the ladies at the register know and then waved to the chef. Bathrooms are waaaaay down the hall on the right.

Awesome coffee shop located inside a converted industrial building. Walls are lined with art on the way in, spot for bike parking and outdoor seating. Coffee was amazing and much needed after pedaling 4 miles from our campsite at North Beach. 10/10 would recommend!

I've been coming here since many years. I've never been so happy and was proudly telling my friends about this place. I do not recommend this place anymore. Last time the gentleman that did my latte overheating the milk to the point it was hot burning. Frothed milk past a certain temperature turns out dull. Today again the milk was too hot and dull. There's something called a thermometers specially made for baristas. Employees are lacking training, experience and a thermometer. Coffee has become expensive, they don't care for your money. Even worst, on my last visit 2 people knew I had not drink my coffee because I didn't like it, none offered me a replacement!

Gnats all over the pastries. I pointed it out on a couple of occasions. The last time the girl just agreed with me and said that it's really bad at the end of the day. The coffee tastes good but the customer service is poor. There are very long lines and I made the mistake (after multiple times waiting 10-15 minutes) to suggest that they offer an option to pour your own coffee (& tap to pay) when that's all you want. The guy seemed insulted I would even suggest it.

Get here asap!! So delicious! There is construction outside so don't fret on that. Drive slow. Plenty of seating and pretty authentic! I loved what I got!

Great coffee in a chill spot. Baristas are skilled and friendly. Took some beans back to CT with us and almost pulled off as good of a latte as they poured me. Almost :) Don't miss the Kouign-amann! Words cannot describe how magnificent this pastry is from this shop. My god, it haunts my dreams. Ate it before I could snap a photo.

In town for one free afternoon. Stopped in for a coffee and snack. Their food selection was gone by 1:30, but had one of the best cappuccinos in a while. I enjoyed it on the small outdoor deck while others netted away indoors. A nice experience.

Really great coffee in an artsy space. Burlington has a fantastic coffee scene and the espresso drinks at Nomad were expertly crafted. Bonus points for the artsy location.

Very cool spot tucked in a co-op building right next to the world's tallest file cabinet! Delicious coffee and pastries, excellent service and great ambiance.

Amazing atmosphere & coffee! If they have the garlic croissant, get it! Also a cool, small collection of locally made art.

Blown away by this place! It's tucked in the back of a co-op building but easy to find, great location for grabbing a coffee and pastry then heading to Lake front. My latte was great- the espresso was so smooth and rich. Like 90% of coffee shops in Burlington the latte was only available in a 10oz. BURLINGTON! Can a girl get a freaking 16oz. latte up in here?!?! Anyways...loved the coffee! But what really got me were the pastries. BEST kouign amman I have ever had (even better than the famed Dominque Ansel)!! Perfect flakiness, gorgeous crunchy sugar bottom....true love. Go check this place out!

This place is amazing. I enjoyed scrumptious pastries and a very good cappuccino. The atmosphere gets a high-five as well.

Such a hidden gem. I love the rustic appearance of the place. The rather tall man was so nice to repeat his words cause I could barely understand him due to his mask. We got ourselves a surprise at the end - free delicious blueberry muffins! Go if you have a chance. It's right behind Howard Center's headquarter and across from the city market.

I want to preface this by saying that I live in large city and have access to some of the best coffee shops in the world and this place blew me away. It's a cool airy space where the coffee and smoothies impress, and the house made pastries; to die for. Savory, sweet, they have it all. Get at least 3, you won't regret it.

Most definitely my favorite coffee shop I've been to in a very long time. The coffee was executed so well and the ambiance was amazing. Their respect for product quality for their guests really stood out to me. They totally know what's up. I really enjoyed the art gallery hallway on the way in and the local pottery they sold in their retail. Also my brother said it was the best coffee he's had in his life.

CJ (baker) is a master of his craft! Pastries are out of this world!! Cafe is super cute with lots of comfy seating tucked all the way in the back of the building.

Wow, this was really unexpected. I saw online on Reddit that Nomad had great lattes so we planned on stopping by, getting a latte, and going by the water. Instead, I got distracted by a piano, played the piano, got applause, and a free latte. I didn't realize how much I needed coffee and a piano. This place is amazing.

Well prepared tasty coffee, biscuits and pastries. Get the honey butter on a biscuit - amazing!

Long overdue review: This place is great. The parking situation is a little unclear, but I haven't been ticketed or towed so I guess I'm doing it right (I just park in the spots closest to Nomad). It's a little tricky to find the first time - you can access it from either side of the building (you'll see what I mean when you get here), and it's in what looks like a funky little alleyway almost, then you realize it's an entrance for a whole collection of businesses. Good coffee, good food, good people...and good wifi!

Set back in an ideal location within a refurbished old mill or something turned into a cool coworking space with plenty of space for chilling, working, reading, concentrating on anything really, which I appreciate beyond words. On top of the perfect environment for enhancing oneself and finding solace from normal society in our deranged daily lives, the coffee is top notch and the pastries and baked goods are gourmet as it gets. The owner was also a super pleasant fellow. My partner and I are on a road trip from ATL up the east coast and now cutting across the north to the west, and this cafe and the overall environment of Burlington have inspired us to stay a whole week here. So we are literal nomads who have thoroughly enjoyed the *&%$ out of Nomad Coffee. Thanks!

If you are passing through Burlington and can eat only 1 thing while you are here, go straight to Nomad to try baker Chris Johnson's Kuoign Amman (pronounced Queen Uh-mon). This pastry is devastatingly delicious. Its genius is in its texture: extremely crispy on the outside with crunchy large-crystal sugar on top and just the softest, most buttery pastry on the inside. Every time I eat one I worry about whether Nomad can pay Chris enough to keep him. Tip well!

I stopped in at the south end Nomad Cafe a few weeks ago because I live in the area and wanted to support the new business. Right now I'm on the SIBO diet, which is super restrictive and can make eating out really difficult. But, I thought I'd see how the cafe would do with accommodating these needs. Chef Suzanne Podhaizer was amazing. She worked up a tasty meal for me that met all of my needs and did it with a gracious smile. I really appreciated her kindness and willingness to work with me; I haven't always had that experience here in BTV. Needless to say, I've been talking up the place ever since. The tea was tasty as well and I liked the atmosphere.

primo. an excellent addition to an already excellent coffee scene. appealing, fun space, but it's the quality of the coffee that counts. extra points for a decaf latte. They are harder than it sounds.

Great coffee (and I am kind of a coffee snob ;), delicious pastries and funky atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Nomad makes my favorite coffee in Vermont. Their smoked maple latte (which I believe is seasonal) is insanely good and the beans they roast themselves under the name Vivid is the only type I'll use for at home coffee now. It has this depth of flavor and complexity that is just amazing and really raises the bar on good coffee.

Just came by here for the very first time and I'm so glad I did! Great ambience to hang out or work. Plus they seem to take their food and coffee very seriously; my breakfast sandwich and cappuccino were delightful. I hope they open up on the weekends soon!

We are visiting from out of town and staying down the block. This was such a treat. We stopped by just about every day for coffee, smoothies, or a pastry. Everything was excellent. Wish we had been able to try the weekend brunch options - they sound amazing!

I hesitate to write this review because I want to keep this place a secret. The food is really delicious, flavorful, balanced, lovely. The coffee is pretty good. There are better places for coffee alone but Nomad's coffee is solid, too. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. It has a nice vibe. I would love them to open for dinner or snacks and stay open late. Would be a perfect spot for events too, like an open mic or something.

The Chef Brian Woychowski prepared a delicious croque madame with duck breast bacon! Come for the coffee stay for the food!

Amazing! Great coffee, beautiful space and the food is thoughtful and just simply delightful. The moment you walk into Nomad you can tell that Nicole and Andrew have put so much time and love into business...making it more than just a place to grab coffee. I cannot say enough about this place - between the mobile Nomad and the Flynn Ave location, I don't need another coffee shop! They nail it :)
