The 21 Best Restaurants On Martha’s Vineyard - Martha's Vineyard - The Infatuation

"Nomans is a place where the scene vastly outweighs the food. The burgers, tacos, fried chicken sandwiches, and the like are solid, but you’re really here for the giant yard full of picnic tables, lawn games, dogs, live music, and kids chasing each other around like it’s summer camp. Seating is fend-for-yourself, both food and the bar are counter-service, and there’s often an oyster cart stationed outside slinging local bivalves. They also bottle their own rum as a nod to the Prohibition history of nearby uninhabited island, Nomans Land. So grab yourself a dozen oysters, a few rum runner cocktails, and make an afternoon of it." - morgen schroeder, tanya edwards

We came here on a late Friday afternoon to dance, have some food & drinks, and listen to the DJ. Nomads now charges a $10 entry fee ($12 if you use a credit card), as of the 2025 season. Seating was limited so we had to stand for a bit before we were able to find a place to sit. There were reserved sections on the patio and out on the lawn. We eventually found seats with a table and ordered appetizers and drinks. There was a couple of corn hole games outside which kept some of the children that were present, occupied. The DJ played a variety of music that kept everyone on the dance floor. A good time was had.

Amazing Oysters & Laid-Back Island Vibes Our first attempt to visit Nomans was on a Friday night—unknowingly right when it seemed like everyone on the island had the same idea! We decided to try again on Saturday afternoon, and I’m so glad we did. The vibes were still popping, but without the long wait. Molly, the bartender, was fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and pouring some truly delicious drinks. We enjoyed a couple of Mai Tais and a strong Old Fashioned before diving into the main event: the oysters. And let me tell you… these were AH-mazing—so fresh, so tasty, just downright guuud! We started with a half dozen, but they were so good we had to order another half dozen. I can honestly say these are probably the best oysters I’ve had to date. Our kids enjoyed playing a few games while we relaxed, and we also tried the cod sandwich—perfectly cooked, with a flavorful aioli that really stood out. The fries were fresh, hot, and tasty. The music (not live) added to the already chill, island vibe, making it even easier to kick back and enjoy the afternoon. I’m so glad our plans shifted to Saturday instead of Friday—it made for the perfect, laid-back island experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Noman’s has become an annual outing during our vacation. It streamlines food and drink orders by offering counter service. This allows them to service many customers in a short period of time. It’s amazing to see retirees enjoying a meal together while kids run circles around the tables. The atmosphere is laid back, which makes it suitable and welcoming to all. They have great music, tasty food, a raw bar, and a wide selection of drinks. Seating is first-come, first-served, so you may need to stake out your location. Parking can also be difficult, and they offer an off-site shuttle service. Food in the photo includes short rib tacos (left), kale salad (right), and potato salad (back).

Google
I am in love with the kale sweet potato salad here!!! It’s always fresh and refreshing on a hot day, and I love that there is a lot of shaded outdoor seating. If I’m really hungry I get chicken tenders too, and grab a day-old cookie (s’mores of course).

Google
Great vibe and food. There's a load of options both via the primary restaurant and then via the food stalls outside, i.e. Oysters.

The grandchildren love the picnic table and outdoor activities and especially the live music. It was an extremely busy night yet our parking arrangement was to our satisfaction. The food order was then promptly. This left some time to go next door to the playground while we waited for food. Very polite staff that were attentive to all their guests. It was a perfect place to take the kids. next time we might try the indoor dining.

Google
You visit place for the vibe. The food is more than edible and the drink is solid. But the whole experience, including live music and outdoor activities, makes this a MUST place to visit while in Martha’s Vineyard. It’s an extremely popular place so the parking lot gets full really fast. There are additional parking lots outside of the premise, which is kind of far, but their complimentary shuttle via golf cart is an experience of its own. You should lower your culinary expectations and you will have one of the best memories with your loved ones here.

On our way back 🚲 from JAWS Bridge/Beach. We stopped into Nomans. Great spot! You can sit indoors or outdoors. It has a farm-esq vibe to it. We ordered the Chicken Tacos, House Salad & Chopped Salad. The Tacos were righteous & robust. The Salads held a variety of greens & were perfect. Even the Green Tea had a little flair of fresh mint in its after taste.

Yelp
Omg. Lobster roll review incoming - I just came back from a 5 day Martha's trip, and made it a mission to try *almost* every lobster roll on the island. In reality, I hit 7 different spots, and (to my surprise!!) Nomans was my favorite. In fact, it was so good, I ordered it again on my last day, so I could end on a high note. For reference, I love my lobster rolls cold, on a warm toasted bun. My friends that like warm buttery lobster rolls were also pleased with theirs. My gf friend also enjoyed hers served on a salad. Other food at Nomans is good (I had a salad one day that was just fine), but honestly the lobster roll is the standout. They offer great cocktails (loved the coconut water one!) and a nice beer selection. Excellent vibes, family (and adult) friendly, and conveniently located next to our hotel (Island Inn).

Yelp
Love the atmosphere here! They have corn hole and lots of outdoor seating! Great beer selection and food. Love that they have an oyster bar! Definitely will come back

Yelp
Nomans has a country fair-like atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed, fun outing. With colorful decor, lively crowds, and games like bean toss, it feels like a mini celebration every time. The live entertainment adds to the cheerful vibe and makes the experience even more memorable. The food was amazing--the poke bowl was fresh and flavorful, the tacos were delicious and generously filled, and the oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies might be the best I've ever had. Seriously, don't skip dessert! Service was friendly and efficient, even with a full house. The only issue was with the parking attendant, who showed favoritism toward certain spots. I addressed it with the staff, and I'm happy to say that on my next visit, the issue had been fully resolved. They also offer an overflow lot with a shuttle, which is a helpful option during peak times and keeps things running smoothly once you know about it. Nomans is a must-visit for great food, festive vibes, and that carefree country fair charm. Just plan ahead a bit for parking, and you're in for a great time.

Yelp
Loved the vibes here. The food was decent but definitely not that great. Would definitely go for the vibes and to hang out. The outdoor patio space was huge and nice. Also enjoyed the live music. Two bar areas were nice as well. Service took a decent amount of time. I had the cod fish sandwich. Was cooked ok but wasn't crispy at all. Loved all the fresh vegetables though. The chips and salsa were ok as well. The salsa was spicy but was definitely store bought. I didn't like the potato salad at all. Would definitely come back for the vibes and some drinks and games and music and eat elsewhere.

Yelp
Nice selection of good food with vegetarian options, expansive outdoor seating with games (connect 4, bean bag toss), live music (!!!), and an easy ordering process. This is a great place to bring a group.

Yelp
Awesome dog friendly outdoor scene! Plenty of tables outside with activities for all ages. There was a live band which is always fun. Went inside to order, pretty self explanatory. Non alch drink selection is plentiful which I love. Tacos were good, I'd love to try more of their menu next time. Queso was a little too runny for my liking but place flavor was great! We appreciated the busers that came around to clear and clean tables.

Yelp
Feels like a family reunion on steroids. I'm a southern boy born and raised in the south so I didn't understand the Vineyard. There was this energy of belonging. The staff did the best they could with the volume of people. I waited hours for food and drinks and had a blast. Food was just ok. Drinks were decent and I would go back again! Parking was chaos but hey I get it now!

Yelp
Such a fun place with great food and service! Plenty of parking but can get pretty busy quickly. Easy to order food and then find seating or ordering ahead to go. Food and drinks always seem to be made quickly no matter how busy it gets. I loved my meal so much I went back the next night to get it again. Never took a photo either night because I was too focused on devouring it clearly. I was craving poke and they have the tuna tartare which was close enough! Loved that it was a gluten free and also loved the wasabi-yuzu marinade the ahi was soaked in. Not too heavy on wasabi which was perfect. The crispy chips made it even easier to eat and delicious too. Wakame (seaweed) salad was fresh and a treat! Hands down would go back any time.

Yelp
This is the perfect spot to grab a quick and easy bite! We went in on a weekend during lunch in august and the line to order moved quickly and wasn't too busy. There were plenty of tables to choose from and I really appreciate that they put out all sauces and condiments for easy access rather than having to ask for more. There is a decent sized menu and a giant drink display so you are bound to find something you love on the menu!

Yelp
Nomans is a GOOD time on Friday nights. From Kevin the shuttle driver to the DJ you are guaranteed to have a good night. Our group had the rum runner and mai tai, the rum runner was hands down the best of the two and they definitely didn't hold back on the alcohol. The drinks are roughly $14 each. We were hungry so got the short rib tacos and were pleasantly surprised as they were actually really delicious! Best part of the night was the DJ, he kept the vibes going with the new and old school r&b vibes, sounded like a karaoke. Everyone was singing at the top of their lungs.

Yelp
We take back every nice thing that we said about this place from last summer. One of us was back here a couple weeks ago and had a sour experience, but figured it was a fluke, so we came back again this past Friday night with a bunch of family and had a god awful experience, so it is unlikely that we will be back again. Noman's *used to be* a chill, easy place that you could come and hang out with pretty good food, nice drinks, and an open space with plenty of seating and games for the kids to play with/run around. Not anymore! When we got here on Friday, the parking lot was so full--they have attendants now!--that we had to go park by the beach and take a shuttle (!!!!!). The place was so packed and crowded that we could not even find any seating and there was ZERO staff trying to help people out. One guy--who was not even eating or drinking--was parked at a huge table by himself on his phone. We literally couldn't find anywhere to go and had to sneak into the hotel area to get a picnic table on the other side of the fence. We saw ONE person out there clearing plates, which is insane taking into account how crowded it was. The line to even just order food was 30-45 minutes long. The vibe was more like we were in the club with people dressed up like they were going OUT for the night. What the hell happened to this place?? What made it so special is completely gone. We had a couple drinks and apps and got the hell out of there (btw the chopped salad is still NOT chopped). It sucks that what used to be one of our favorite places has now become an overrun mobbed out spot to-be-seen in. What a shame. Maybe the folks running this place are laughing all the way to the bank, but it's a tragedy for some of us. MAYBE we will come in the off season, but damn, one star, Noman's. What a pity.

Yelp
Hoping management sees this. It's been a good scene for families but the access to games for kids has declined steadily in the past 3 summers. Tonight there was one giant set of Connect Four that at least a dozen under 4 kids (including ours) were playing with. 2 staff abruptly came over and just seized up all the connect four donuts - I guess you have to pay for them now? Which is crazy bc it's the only other game besides 2 cornhole sets for adults. We'd planned to stay there for an hour or 2 but we all left bc there was no longer a kid activity like we loved here in the past. No other games in sight- I even asked inside. In years past there was a shelf with shared games like jenga. The idea that you now need to pay to play is just silly business unless they have some better system and far more options. A handful of giant Jengas would be a no brainer for the setup. Hope to see more if we return this year.

Yelp
What a great place to hangout. Loads of tables inside and out. All types of lawn games in a giant beer garden setup. Outdoor drink truck and raw bar truck divided the wait fry or food. We ordered in the building, got a buzzer and was called to pickup our food at the pickup window within minutes. You have to love a place that makes its own rum. Rum drinks were a specialty. My painkiller was perfectly prepared. Kale salad was delicious. Another asked for a deconstructed wrap and was obliged without a problem. Chips were a bit stale . They even have a gift shop. We intended to stop an hour and stayed 3 1/2. Time flies when you are having fun.

Yelp
I was riding bike when I saw this place and had a craving to go in and have a drink. The place is pretty nice although you cannot see any of it from the street. It has a modern decor with a bit of industrial (?) and it looks great. The outdoor seating won me over. The outdoor area was very spacious and so was the inside. It looked like an amazing place to come with family, friends, or a date. I ended up ordering a Bloody Mary and it was very good. Sadly, I was there before the Raw Bar opened so I couldn't try any of their oysters. They also have a real food menu (it's in the pictures). I didn't try any of the food so I can't comment on that. The service was good. I say this based on the friendliness and professionalism of the bartender that helped us and the girls up front. There's a lot of shaded seating outside and I saw a couple of large "connect 4" games. It was very nice and chill. It definitely gave me a good vibe. Check it out.

Yelp
Let's just go there...Black & White culture mix is very refreshing! How often do you see a 50/50 mix of black and white people gathered at the same venue having a blast together. Enjoying food, drink, dance, music and family? Refreshing to say the least and I'm a white dude from an upper middle class family from the burbs whom also lived in North Harlem for 10 years. OK...so MV has a bit of pop culture now and that's ok. Beyond that my Mai Tai was solid with house rum, my fried chicken sandwich was the best on MV so far (there's not a lot of competition) but the seating needs to be addressed...it's way to sparse for the amount that show up, people treat their table like they are homesteading. Prices are reasonable.

Karen S.

Yelp
Not the same as last year...hotdog was cold and needed to be returned. Fish sandwich was not as plentiful as I remember. Tuna poke bowl was just ok. Service with no smile... The ambiance was good! Sunny day, lawn games and a good bar. The vibe is fun for a group! Maybe an off day for food?

Yelp
Nomans is awesome! My husband and I started going here when they first opened 6 years ago. Always a good time - great drinks, good food, good vibe. We recently went over with our kids and decided to go to Nomans - they had a blast! Big open space, other kids to watch or play with. And for my son that has an egg & dairy allergy, they have a binder right at the front that lists all ingredients of every dish. Not a ton of options for him, but I felt confident in what we ordered b/c they let me read the ingredients list myself. We will continue to visit every year!
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe, average food. You order your food inside and then find a table to sit outside. It's got a great vibe on a warm summer evening. They had live jazz music, which was great. The problem is the food is not very good. I had the mushroom tacos, which were fine, sweet potato, and kale salad, which actually was pretty good, though salty. The lobster on the lobster roll tasted old and didn't have enough mayo on it. On the cod sandwich the fish did not taste fresh. The fun ambience and outdoor games of this place make it a great place to hang out, especially with kids, but It is not really worth eating mediocre food.
google avatar

Joyce H.

Yelp
While discovering a modern and delightful outdoor, serve yourself eatery, with inventive salad options, I still gave it a four because I was taken by surprise at how much I had to do for myself, while still being asked to tip, which I generously did before knowing I'd have to bus my own food, utensils, napkins, water and chips. That being said, the missing service was passed on to the customers in very reasonable prices, thus accounting for all the children and seniors in attendance. I'll probably suggest it to my family when I return in August (we'll have five children,) Aside, the salad (I was allowed to modify it), chip selection - great choices, and water (there is an extensive bar BTW) were perfect.

Candace S.

Yelp
One of the more family friendly and fun places on MV. Decent food, good drinks and lovely atmosphere. The lines are a bit much for food but everything else is for the good life.

Johanna G.

Yelp
The rum hut rental was a splurge but it made a dinner for 9 people perfect because we could move around and talk and listen to the music. I will do this again next time I come to the vineyard! Fries and chicken were delicious and I'm not a French fry lover usually!
google avatar

Kayla E.

Yelp
Nice casual spot for a drink. They had live music. Didn't order food but will definitely return on our next trip back to MV.

Yelp
Went here while on vacation with my family and was vary satisfied live music and fantastic atmosphere for a Monday night food came out quick I got the chicken sandwich which was solid but just a bit over cooked friendly staff and tasty drinks would recommend for families

Yelp
Cool indoor/outdoor bar. Nomans is a great stop when visiting Martha's Vinyard. The staff was friendly & the drinks cold. They have a wide selection of alcohol and offer food as well. The food, in my opinion, is nothing to write home about & a little on the pricy side, but not terrible either. My only complaint is the ladies room is small and could use more upkeep. It wasn't the cleanest they few times I was there & only 2 stalls/1 sink. Outside, Nomans is dog friendly & has plenty of outdoor seating as well as lawn games. Nomans can be fun for all ages. Bring the kids & let them run around & play as it's fenced in and they are sure to find something to do. Nomans often has live entertainment, so check their website for events. Nomans is just down the road from Oak Bkuffs, which is nice to avoid the nightmare of parking in town. Next time I am on the island, I'll be back!
google avatar

Christelle R.

Yelp
We keep coming back for the ambiance! What a find - Nomans provides a little something for everyone. From the intimate patio seating, community feel of shared picnic tables #onthelawn, lawn games for all, specialty cocktails (and full bar) - this is a great spot for a date night, family outing, or just to hang out on a summer day. The menu isn't too expansive - but the options are all delicious! The lobster roll was actually one of the more reasonably priced ones on the island ($26, Summer 2021) and is piled high with prime lobster meat - yum! Being able to place orders at the counter and pay individually is a great option for large groups vs. having to split a massive bill at the end. Our bartender poured up some "healthy" cocktails for us and we particularly enjoyed the frozen pina colada and mai tai! (Always remember to tip generously!) In the evening, the lights come on overhead making for a beautiful ambient summer environment. Seating is first come, first served so make sure you get there to secure prime tables - especially if you have a large party. This spot has become a staple for us while in MV!
google avatar

Brit M.

Yelp
I thought this place we pretty good. I had the lobster roll and it had way too much butter lol. I love the vibe here but not a fan of hunting for a table. I will add that we came here on a Friday with 3 kids under the age of 5 and a newborn (6 adults total). That might have added to my stress lol. I did enjoy, however, the activities for the kids to entertain themselves.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Great location for large groups and a parking lot. The cocktails are amazing and most are made with their house rum. You cannot buy the rum their but you can buy it at stores on the island. The food is good and the bake goods as well. The double chocolate cookies are amazing. The have lawn games, out door fire torches, games. You could probably host a small event here.
google avatar

Brianna W.

Yelp
This place is for the ambiance, its fun and outdoorsy but that's really it. Meh... it's really overpriced and the food and the drinks are just ok. We went on opening day and was disappointed. I would stick with the staples and stay away from the nachos. The menu is a bit all over the place and you can taste it. It's a mix of Mexican, Asian and American. Chicken sandwich was solid. Drinks are ok. It's fun for the ambiance and atmosphere.
google avatar

Jake L.

Yelp
Got recommended to go to Norman's which was previously Lola's. Quick summary of my opinion. Atmosphere: Solid A, Beautiful set up and large outdoor dining area with fun lawn games. Food: B/B+ nothing special compared to other places on the island. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty and the kids loved the fries, burger was a bit dry, and wife said the chicken tacos were missing something. Drinks: A. We only got drinks from the fridge, no alcohol, but good selection. Bar area seemed to also have a large selection of beer and other drinks. Overall: We ended up at Normans because Linda Jeans had a 2 hour wait, but we did enjoy the environment and food. Would recommend for families with kids, unlike most the Island this place is stroller friendly as well.
google avatar

Teena S.

Yelp
There is a nice area outside to eat. They have a variety of drinks, snacks and food to choose from. We ordered the bucket of fried chicken because who doesn't like fried chicken? It was delicious. The fish tacos were good too. The chicken tenders and fries weren't good at all. They were too fried and all dried out. There was a gentlemen who was near the front entrance who was extremely helpful. The guy cashier seemed to be irritated when I asked him a bunch of questions. It was my first time here so I wasn't familiar with anything. Overall, food was decent.

Yelp
Nomans is one of our go to spots on Martha's Vineyard. We love that there is usually a place to park. Parking in downtown OB or EDG can be difficult. It is kid friendly, which we really like. The atmosphere is laid back vibes. They have a lot of live music and events here. The menu has something for everyone. My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich. There are mostly outdoor spaces to eat and sit at but also indoor tables, too. It is self serve, so you order the food and then get a buzzer and pick it up yourself when it's ready. It is nice that way because it is fast and you don't have to wait for a server if you want something. They also have a shuttle to take you to and from Oak Bluffs by the ferry. We love showing off and recommending this hidden gem to our friends and acquaintances who visit the island and are looking for a place to hang, eat, drink, and have their kids feel comfortable with a great space to run around in.

Lindsay R.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing it is really good I'd really recommend it for a date night or with the kids on vacation!

Kelly B.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere! We made it for taco Tuesday, highly recommend. The kids played yard games and the parents relaxed :) Great spot.

Melissa C.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I have encountered in a long time. The manager was very disrespectful and inappropriate. I will NEVER EVER step foot in this place again.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
The perfect place to spend an afternoon or late evening on a beautiful day. Lots of great outdoor space where the kids can run around while the adults have a drink. We played family corn hole. We went for brunch. My husband had fish tacos which was prepared well and fresh. He wasn't sure what type of fish it was and noted it was a little "fishy" for his liking. I had the egg sandwich with housemate sausage and avocado (without the bread.) I'm not sure if it was fresh or not but I didn't love it. My sons grilled cheese was legit as was my others son French toast sticks.
google avatar

Isabelle Z.

Yelp
Beautiful space and great vibes, but the food is overpriced and not tasty. We came as a large group (9 people) and were able to find okay seating on the porch. You order at the counter or on the app. The lawn outside, where most of the tables are, is beautiful, with lawn games scattered around. This place was mostly disappointing because of the food. It was bad, to be frank. I ordered the fish tacos which were very expensive for two small tacos. The flavor was off--the tacos were way too sour. They tried to pull off a fusion dish, but having the kimchi and the ponzu and the pickled ginger just made the taco overwhelmingly...sour. The fish was alright but I could barely taste it. My friends who ordered the poke weren't fans either. The only good dish here were the french toast sticks for dessert, those were great.
google avatar

Beth W.

Yelp
Would have given 5 stars but last visit our food was just about warm. We were too Hungary to send it back. Noman's is a great hangout with good vibes great atmosphere and great music. Watch out for the skunks later in the evening.
google avatar

Dan L.

Yelp
Went here to kill a few hours before our Ferry and immediately fell in love with the space and concept. Tons of outdoor seating, lawn games, and overall great hangout space. Feels almost as if you're in friends backyard! The beer selection was great, didn't try the cocktails but they looked fantastic. My only complaint would have to be the limited selection of food. There's a few basic things to eat but it is a very limited menu. With a more in depth menu we would've stayed for dinner but ended up leaving to find food elsewhere.
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
Very underwhelming. My friend and I stopped in here on on the way to the beach. They didn't have guacamole so we got chips and salsa and my tacos. We are 99% convinced the chips are straight up tostitos. The tacos were so meh. At least they have outlets to charge
google avatar

Art C.

Yelp
We loved their large garden, with all of the tables spread out on the yard. I hope they continue this even after covid. All-in-all, this is a pretty good fast-casual concept with decent food and drinks. That said, none of the food or drinks are anything you'll likely remember. You're more likely to remember hanging out with your bro's on the lawn, drinking beer... And that's not a bad thing.
google avatar

V B.

Yelp
Great ambiance and food was good! Definitely a place I would go back to especially with a big group!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place. We came here like 5 times over 6 days because it's so much fun. Menu could be a little broader but they make up for it so many other ways.

Yelp
We love this place in the summer. Chill vibe and great for kids - they love running around and the lawn games. The beer truck is fun. Always enjoy the food. Seating is plentiful.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for family dining. Live DJ playing great music for families to dance to. Tons of lawn games. Drinks and food were delicious.

Yelp
Caroline at the gift shop is a joy! She helped me find so many cute styles as vineyard souvenirs. The hoodies are everything! I absolutely love Nomans (Both myself and my family). I want to pick this place up and bring it right back to Atlanta with me!

Yelp
Food is solid. Mushroom tacos are very spicy and have great flavor. Band was great and atmosphere was fun. Dan, the shuttle driver, waited for us to finish up and managed to fit our bikes in the back - he was awesome- 3 cheers for Dan!

Yelp
I've been to Nomans about 6 times. Cool environment that allows dogs, with music. All good. Just do NOT go, if you want a decent burger. Such a let down when you're hungry. When it first opened, the cheeseburger was an ACTUAL decent cheeseburger (unless I'm mistaken). Now-- it is literally an extremely cheap, thin piece of beef (i wouldn't even call it a burger)... it is probably not even a centimeter thick -- can you call a piece of beef that thin a "burger"? It's like a steakum, except expensive. It is all roll, and barely any meat. For 14/15$. I can go to any fast food place for a better size burger, for cheaper. It is a disgrace to call it a cheeseburger. If I go back it will be to simply socialize, but not to eat. I can get a better burger anywhere else on the island.
