The Hit List: New London Restaurants To Try Right Now - London - The Infatuation

"Forgive us the pun, but at Norbert’s the early bird gets the … well, bird. The small rotisserie chicken spot, along a quiet terrace in East Dulwich, is walk-in-only and come dinnertime it becomes a buzzing hub of dates, mates, and local families. After one failed attempt at 8pm, we’d suggest getting there by 6pm. The menu is simple (juicy chicken, sauces, chips, and potatoes—get them all), the hospitality is warm, and the playlist would turn even the worst of days around (Cher, Tina Turner, Talking Heads). Just make sure one of their excellent piña coladas is also on your table." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"Rotisserie chicken is hot right now. And entering the scorched skin arena is Norbert’s. It's a dinky East Dulwich neighbourhood spot from a couple of chefs with CVs that’d make a career’s advisor weep (think The Marksman, Lasdun, and Lyle’s). The menu is simple—chicken, rotisserie potatoes, chips, and salad. There’ll be some starters too and milk buns from Eric’s for lunchtime sarnies. We checked out Norbert's and added it to the Hit List." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Chicken and piña coladas are the perfect double act at Norbert’s - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Forgive us the pun, but at Norbert’s the early bird gets the … well, bird. The small, walk-in-only rotisserie chicken spot is along a quiet terrace in East Dulwich but becomes a buzzing hub of dates and mates from 6pm. The menu is simple (juicy chicken, sauces, potatoes in various forms), the playlist would turn even the worst of days around (Cher, Tina Turner, Talking Heads), and most of the seven or so tables feature at least one of their excellent piña coladas. It’s a laissez-faire kind of place where you could come early doors for a family-friendly winning chicken dinner (bring your own fairy outfit), or an inner-circle-only birthday where the chatty staff might bring everyone a complimentary round of tequila shots. photo credit: Daisy Meager When it comes to ordering, your focus should be to go all in on the bird. Heed the recommendation to get a whole chicken for two because the birds are meaty but on the smaller side. And order both the fries and chicken fat potatoes. The former aren’t the best we’ve ever eaten but are essential for mopping chicken juices, and the latter ideal for dunking in aioli. Skip dessert and just order another piña colada. Food Rundown Piña Colada Turns out we don’t just get food envy. After tasting a sip of a friend’s piña colada, we immediately ordered one for ourselves. It’s sweet but not overly so, with a good whack of booze. There’s a reason why the blitz of a blender is just as much a part of the playlist as the ‘80s and ‘90s bangers. photo credit: Daisy Meager Rotisserie Chicken, Fries, Chicken Fat New Season Potatoes A glossy, juicy, flavourful bird proving that sometimes simple is best. If we were picking holes, some of the breast meat was the tiniest touch dry, but a dunk in peppery butter sauce or aioli cures all. Get the fries and chicken fat potatoes—they come on the same plate as the chicken, soaking up all the juices. PlayMute video credit: Daisy Meager Chocolate Pot & Hazelnut Ours arrived overset and a little split as a result. A better dessert would be another piña colada. Or the Craig David (a tequila shot and pineapple shot) if your night is only just beginning. We’ll leave you to Google how Craig recommends drinking them. photo credit: Daisy Meager" - Daisy Meager

Loved this placed. Intimate, no reservations local restaurant serving incredible rotisserie chicken and sides. We arrived as a party of 2 just before 7pm on a Saturday evening expecting to have to wait to be seated, but they were just clearing a table so we sat immediately. Chicken was tender and juicy, in a great marinade. New potatoes were perfectly cooked and brilliantly soaked up the meat juices and sauces (get the pepper butter). It's a small set-up and they balance take-away orders, but a great experience and we will be back soon!

Great value. Delicious chicken, excellent sauces, (especially the butter pepper), and really good pâté, salads and potatoes. Staff very friendly too. Will be back soon.

So fantastic. We shared the full rotisserie chicken between two, juicy -and served with jus-, flavour-packed, and cooked to perfection. The peppercorn sauce was also a highlight. The house rosé was reasonably priced (£7) and perfect for a drink in the sun before moving indoors. Friendly service, a cool playlist, and a relaxed atmosphere, we’d love to come back.

Went 2 weeks ago with friends. We ordered a whole chicken, fries, salad and all the sauces. Such delicious chicken and we loved ALL the sauces wow. Great quality and taste. The wine was delish too. Great service

Google
The gold standard of rotisserie chicken in London, if there was a Michelin star for this food, they would get it: meat is so tender and fresh, juicy and perfectly seasoned. Very good service and posh decor. 4 trains per hour from London Bridge, 18 minutes away, ticket won't be expensive because East Dulwich is in zone 2 (be advised, the 2 platforms have separate entrances). The only drawback was the portion of lentils that was too tiny.

Superb, delicious, fun. Everything you want in a cosy, independently run restaurant. The starters are superb. The chicken beautifully cooked. The chips when they get soggy in the gravy is heaven. Get all the sauces, the peppercorn is so good. Great little BTG the glass list too. The Sylvaner and the Jura Chardonnay were both great with the food. A joy. Thanks Jack & John x

Amazing atmosphere, Jack and John were great hosts and oh my god the food was insane. I reckon I’ll be dreaming of it for at least the next 8 weeks, the franks red hot with the chicken is to die for. Must go if you’re in the area and can’t wait to go again!
