Where to Find the Best Hand Rolls in Houston | Eater Houston

"Hand rolls at this new Asiatown restaurant get particularly decadent, with rolls donned in gold flakes and the forever option to add uni. Sample a variety of hand rolls with the 5 Banger set, which features a lineup of individually wrapped, open-faced rolls stuffed with toro, hamachi, spicy scallops, spicy bluefin tuna, and shrimp tempura. Diners can venture beyond sushi with dishes like foie gras chawanmushi, oysters dotted with caviar, creamy truffle-topped uni pasta, and garlic soy-marinated lollipop lamb chops." - Brittany Britto Garley

Our first time trying NoriNori for Houston Restaurant Week and it was amazing! Our server Jesus quickly guided us through the menu and made sure we understood everything we were ordering. his attentiveness and attitude really kept us here longer despite there being a rush (5:50pm-7:30pm). Couldn’t tell you what I’d recommend because everything was absolutely amazing! Don’t miss out on NoriNori!

Google
Came here for a mother/daughter day and really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere! We got to try a variety of items, all of which looked and tasted amazing! My personal favorite as someone who doesn’t typically like seafood items, though, was still the shrimp tempura hand roll. The flavor with the spicy aoli is something I will definitely be back for!

I came here for the first time this Saturday for a late afternoon meal with my sister, my niece, and my sleepy nephew. This hidden gem is tucked away in the Jasmine/Soju Blues plaza in Chinatown. It’s easy to miss since it’s a narrow spot but that makes it all the more intriguing. The doors are huge and heavy, and upon entering you’re greeted by kind and smiley hosts and servers. I love that they went with an emerald/hunter green accents for decor. And yes, the restrooms are clean! Khiem was our server; he was very friendly, attentive, and thorough when it came to explaining menu items and providing recommendations. He recommended the following items for us to try which we ordered: - foie gras chawanmushi - uni pasta - miso soup - oyster shooters - nigiri’s: Otoro, Chutoro, kinmedai, Kampachi, scallop foie gras, Hokkaido uni - hand rolls He recommended more that I wanted to try, like their drinks, bone marrow, and chef specials however I just had my wisdom teeth removed so I could only eat soft foods. I like that the staffs all work well together to help one another here. Everyone alternates, serving, refilling waters, and clearing plates. Chef Cong was very kind as well, he had came by our table offering a complimentary beverage and an off menu item, both were delicious! I had a really great first experience here, and I can’t wait to come back and try other menu items!

Trying out their Sunday AYCE omakase. I gotta say, it is definitely exceeding my expectation. I am surprised they even serve uni, A5 wagyu, foie gras, truffle! They are not cheap with portion size either. Even though after the first round, most of the dishes are nigiri and hand rolls, I still think it is worth $150 per person. Chef is so nice and let us try different stuff. Everyone in my party is complimenting the flavor of each dish. Highly recommend it!

Google
Nori Nori has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Houston! Every visit is such a great experience, and the food is always outstanding. I especially love their AYCE Omakase – the quality and freshness of the fish are incredible, and it’s such a treat to get such high-end sushi in an all-you-can-eat format. I’ve been several times now, and each visit is just as impressive as the last. We also recently went for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and it was absolutely delicious! The menu was thoughtfully curated, and you can really tell how much care goes into every dish. The service is always attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere makes it perfect for both casual nights out and special occasions. If you’re a sushi lover or just looking for a unique dining experience in Houston, Nori Nori is definitely a must-try!

Stumbled upon this GEM that transported through a food journey of a night for our one year anniversary after playing Space Claw next door! We started the night with cocktails before moving onto the Chef’s sake during late night HH at 10pm. I had the matcha cocktail (sooo good) and he had the smoked old fashioned (in the video). For the starters we did the grilled Wagyu bone marrow for my fiancé and truffle mushroom pasta for myself. Off menu they had a madai crudo that was divine! Now let’s get to the main! We customized and mixed and matched hamachi, toro, and scallop foie gras hand rolls with some off menu masago and ikura nigiri. The picked wasabi especially stood out to my fiancé and is a must add. We’ll have to come back and try the AYCE Omakase on Sunday! I heard reservations are encouraged. They brought us a matcha crème brûlée for our anniversary but will also offer an espresso martini or the same dessert for a Google review of your experience! A cool vibey spot for date night and a definite favorite in my book. I’ll be sure to ask for the Spotify playlist next time if they have one too!

Google
We really enjoy the sushi here. My fave is the scallop foie gras sushi. We got 2 rounds of that. The only thing I would pass on is the uni pasta. It was too heavy for my taste. Our server Khiem was awesome! Very attentive and gave us helpful suggestions.

Google
Beautiful restaurant, we really liked the vibes. Seafood was nice and fresh. There were some good dishes and some were average. We really enjoyed the Hokkaido scallops, all the hand rolls, and the lamb chops. The nigiri were ok and the Hamachi collar was roasted well but they put too much chili powder on it, which overpowered the fish. Overall a good meal. It wasn’t that busy and service was slow. Server was attentive and helpful. We ordered both HRW and a la carte. Would come again for the hand rolls and sit at the bar.

Yelp
Went there for date night and the sous chef Tu took great care of us. Food was amazing and drinks were even better.

Yelp
5 stars is not an easy feat to get outta me..... But Nori Nori was everything I wanted and more on this Sunday afternoon during happy hour! From the service , to the ambiance of the low lit bar, to the lovely purple neon lighting in the background of the restaurant , it was a nice touch to the beyond exceptional sushi that was headed our way! We got the miso soup, the five flight handrolls, amaebi, and to cap things off , the bone marrow with toast! So very very good, my guest and I enjoyed it all! And I will most certainly return on a Friday or Saturday night to check out the evening crowd and atmosphere As a final footnote, there are multiple options for excellent sushi in Houston, but exceptional sushi hand rolls are few and far between. This place offers both!

Yelp
Had a galentine here. AHHHH! So so good. Amazing experience, service, AND FOOD! Also the place is an actual VIBE! Service: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and interactive! The guys behind the sushi bar made everyone feel like a big family. I loved that. Food: I love love LOVED the food. 10/10. Seriously. My favorite dishes were the lollipop lambchops ($20 10/10) and the matcha Creme brûlée (9/10) All the dishes I ordered were all flavorful and was chefs kiss. I ordered the BGB king salmon, lobster chimunmishu (prolly spelled that wrong), scallop foir gras, miso soup ($4 flavorful 10/10), and matcha Creme brûlée (more like a flavorful sweet wet cake than a custard 9/10) And the lycheetini cocktail (sweet) so good if you like lychee! 9/10 My total was $95 excluding tip. (So worth it) Def coming back here in the future! Inside: dim, but light in all the right areas, perfect date night or with friends, upbeat, but not too loud music. I definitely recommend! I literally have nothing bad to say at all! I loved it and will be back!

Yelp
My friend and I had a good lunch. The restaurant interior is very modern and clean. We ordered the foie gras chawanmushi which was good but needed the addition of soy sauce. Then we ordered the nori box for $75. It was a nice variety of fish and the best one were the scallops. The presentation was beautiful. Our server was pretty attentive. This place is good but honestly I feel that it would thrive more in the midtown or heights neighborhood.

Yelp
I had the chance to be around the Bellaire area this past weekend. A very special time being Lunar New Year. I was dining in with family for a reservation for a restaurant I have seen both on social media and whenever I making my trips: NoriNori. NoriNori brings that modern feel in its decor and what is also eye catching is the sushi bar. I had to try a nice mix of items to get a feel of what am about to indulge in. Through a recommendation of the staff, I picked the oyster shooters, the nigiri flight, the 5 banger and finish off with the matcha crème brûlée. Definitely from the start, I was in for an experience. The shooters come in a set of 4 and was flavorful with the nice lemon to enhance it to another level. I do like oysters which made it a nice pick. The nigiri flight is a 5 piece chef pick and were very solid selections especially having the toro tuna and king salmon. The 5 banger are the hand rolls: hamachi, spicy scallop, bluefin tuna, toro tuna, and shrimp tempura. It was very nice the hand rolls are not coming all at once to really savor the flavor. Lastly was the matcha crème brûlée. The matcha flavor is balanced very well. Matcha can be a very potent tart taste, but that was not the case. The matcha is present but not overpowering and a nice touch were the strawberries to make a complete bite. Overall I had high hopes for NoriNori and was met with that plus more. In the space of sushi, to me is one of convenience and speed but in comparison to a fine dining personal experience. NoriNori would fall toward the personal experience spectrum. The quality is great, the chefs are very friendly and knowledgeable plus both the front house staff are very vigilant too. It was also nice to have the owner of the restaurant check in on us. With that in mind, the price is reflective of this. It is reasonable and I would like this as a nice restaurant for intimate setting and I do suggest the sushi bar if you can be seated. I highly recommend it and it is great way to start off my year for both lunar new year and Yelp reviews.

Yelp
Returned for the second time 6+ months later and quality/service still top notch! Lamb lollipops and bone marrow just as good as the first time. We tried the spicy tuna hand roll (4.5/5) and this was surprisingly good. The flavor was layered with pickled daikon and crispy garlic to cut the spicy tuna. We also tried lobster/scallop bites (5/5) that were unique and perfect in a spoonful. Only a small nitpick that it could have done with less soy based sauce at the bottom of the spoon. But the scallop was so silky smooth. Oyster shooters (4/5) were also good but just not my cup of tea. Lastly, the sous chef offered us an east coast oyster with uni and paired with a perfect sauce and wow! What a bite! Granted it was $10 a pop, but it was a great way to end the meal. Definitely glad we returned.

Yelp
I came here with my cousins for a bday dinner and was very impressed with the food and service. The waiter as well as the host/manager checked up on us all night, even offering complimentary bday shots. We got an assortment of things to try and share: handrolls (Spicy Hokkaido Scallops, Hamachi), nigiri (Madai, Kanpachi, Otoro), starters (Grilled Bone Marrow Wagyu Tartare, Big Glory Bay King Salmon Crudo, Oyster Shooters), and cocktail (Nori Mojito). Stand out items were the oyster shooters (smooth, perfectly fishy/briny) and the handrolls (what they're known for). I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
So didn't know what to expect when my friend invited me here for his birthday. It looks super nice in pictures but it's located in Bellaire?! When we pulled up I realized this parking lot is a mess. It's always so crowded due to r&b and the other places. Upon waking in the place was empty besides our group and we were a bit worried. After being seated we started with drinks and appetizers. We ordered so many dishes I can't even remember it all. The drinks kept coming and the restaurant started getting fuller. There was another group next to us that was celebrating a birthday as well and they were popping henny bottles. The jams started getting cranked up and shots got passed around. The rest was a blur but the overall the food was delicious and the place was vibing.

Yelp
You know what as much as I like these new hand roll places popping up everywhere I still find it very hard for anybody to top off kazu nori in Los Angeles California.. The lamb chops were tender and seasoned well but I felt they were a bit overpriced for what we were getting. Oyster shooter was the bomb, kind of one of those things you just have to get to cheers with The 5 course was decent at most.. you can't go wrong with the quality of the fish and I really do like how they have the seaweed in plastic wrap to prevent it from going soggy. If I'm being really honest, nothing really stood out to me. It isn't mind blowing amazing but it wasn't bad either. Nothing really seemed memorable or unique except the plastic film on the seaweed. I'd come here again if I'm around the area but I would not go out my way to come here.

Yelp
10/10 recommend. Everything is amazing! Food, drinks, decor and service! Get the nori box!

Yelp
Dropped by for a quick grab and was welcomed by a wonderful staff. Chef Cong was very informative about the menu. Beautiful interior from the front and back. My favorite thing would have to be the Bone Marrow tartare. It was very rich and flavorful. I was let down by the Foie Gras considering the portion of it was the tiniest I've seen in all of Houston sushi restaurant scene with a $7 upgrade from the regular scallop temaki. I did enjoy their mushroom temaki. Personally the Nomi Don was too sweet for me, it consisted of uni and raw shrimp. My least favorite was the Ora King Salmon crudo, it had a gochujang vinaigrette along with pickled Asian pear, I thought it was an odd combination that didn't work well together. Overall I definitely would give it another chance and order nigiris instead for the next visit.

Yelp
Went during the soft opening, so this is a little bit of a late review. Dark and cozy vibes, we sat at the corner. You pick your items with a paper slip. They didn't have the panna cotta dessert that I had wanted to try at the time so it was a little disappointing. Lamp chops were probably the highlight for me, ironically. It was well seasoned and tender, avoiding the gamey taste that often comes with lamb. The hand rolls are a little tricky to eat but once you figure out the trick for the wrapping, you appreciate the steps it takes to keep the seaweed fresh and crispy. The shrimp tempura was delicious, with a nice sauce. The lobster was cold and a little chewy. The eel I don't really remember. And the toro was chopped up pieces and was an easy bite. It wasn't quite was I was expecting so it was not my favorite tuna item. It's a bit of a hefty price but overall a good dining experience. I might come back to try their desserts and it looks like their grand opening is on its way, so maybe the experience might be better now.

Yelp
First time here, had a great meal! We came right around open time on a Friday evening, the staff was welcoming and we were seated right away. They even gave us a Yuzu sake shot as a welcome since it was our first time (it tasted amazing) Food: we got their starters including the bone marrow wagyu tartare and an egg tart with foie gras, both were very good! We got a good amount of nigiri which were all very fresh. Also went ham on some very good hand rolls and finished out with some delicious sorbet. We were pretty full by the end! Service: amazing staff who gave us fantastic recommendations! The head chef/owner checked on us often and made sure we were taken care of, also our water and alcohol cups were never empty which is a plus :) Ambiance: hip and modern ambiance, everything was brand new and clean We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
Best handrolls in Houston. Service was top notch! Amazing ambiance as well. Forget the location and go!!!

Yelp
If I could I would rate this spot a 3.5 overall. We came to celebrate a birthday a few weeks ago. After looking at the menu we decided to share a few appetizers and then order hand rolls separately for each person. Oyster shooters: 4/5 standard shooter. Oysters were a good size and fresh Nomi Don: 4/5 tasty but small Uni pasta: 4.5/5 we really enjoyed this dish, only complaint was that it came out semi cold Hamachi Kama: 4/5 good but nothing special Foie gras chawanmushi: 4.5/5 the foie paired well with the silky egg Handrolls: 3/5 we opted for either the 4play or 5banger. Overall they came with a good amount of fish but there wasn't anything really special about these. There are other handroll spots that I prefer more Overall, service was good and the ambiance is nice. I think it's a good spot for a date night rather than a larger dinner group like we had. I actually preferred their cooked appetizers more than the handrolls. Price wise we also ended up spending more than I typically would for this kind of restaurant. For the price we paid I'd rather go to a higher end sushi restaurant.

Yelp
NoriNori was sooo good!! we got a bunch of nigiris and handrolls. they used high quality ingredients and the handrolls were dressed well to compliment the fish. the umami from the bone marrow was insane i was scraping every last bit with my spoon. the workers were all very kind and friendly. cool modern vibe in the restaurant with bar and booth seating.
google avatar

Charnie D.

Yelp
The rolls were decent but the main star for me was the lamb chop. It was very flavorful and juicy! The atmosphere is really intimate and should be a perfect date spot for sure. Would recommend their 5 roller special and the lamb shops.
google avatar

Yelp
Very new, hip and modern sushi spot right in the middle of Chinatown! The interior is very clean and engaging. They have plenty of bar seating available as well. You can't go wrong with the Handroll Sets. I tried the 5 Banger, and the variety of flavors was amazing! My personal favorites were the spicy bluefin tuna and the spicy scallops. The handrolls feel larger than traditional spots, so that is a big plus. Overall, I had a great time at this spot. They have many staff members that provide an excellent experience. They even have their own house made sake, which tasted great. Can't recommend this spot enough!
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
The restaurant was so cute and the atmosphere felt really intimate and romantic. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place on our date and everything was really good. Our favorite was the oyster shooters, scallops, and hand rolls! The uni pasta was okay nothing too special or crazy about it. Service could've been better, but our overall experience was good would definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
We need more hand roll places to open and I'm glad to see Nomi Nori finally have its own location. They offered unique style hand rolls and a nice ambience inside. They do accept reservations. You have a choice to sit at the bar or a table if you have a group coming. I prefer the bar because your hand roll comes out one by one versus at a table, they will give you the whole set at once. They have pre-fix set menu but we decided to order by each hand roll. My favorite was the scallop foie gras and the hamachi. Good ratio of rice to protein. We enjoyed all of our hand rolls and the service was quick and friendly. We were checked in pretty often throughout the night. It's great to have Nomi Nori as part of the food scene in Chinatown. Worth checking out.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place out recently and we really love it! It had a really cool, new modern feel to it, but still quite close and cozy. From the outside it looks quite tight, but I was surprise about how many seats there were inside. Everyone one working here was also so nice! They were so quick and attentive. We even spoke with the manager and server at the end of our meal and they were super interested in how our experience was and ways to keep on improving! The handrolls were so good and filling. I had a little trouble getting the plastic off, but it gets easier w experience. The oyster shooters were good and the scallop was really nice to start the meal. I think my favorite thing we had though was the chawanmushi. It was so silky and you can really taste the foie gras.
google avatar

Yelp
A much-needed new sushi spot added to the heart of Chinatown. This plaza gets so BUSY that it can be challenging to find parking at prime time. Nomi Nori focuses more on HANDROLLS but they do have some NIGIRIS on their menu. There is the option of sitting at the BAR or TABLE. When you sit at the bar the handrolls are made & served one by one. At the table, you get your full set & it comes with the PLASTIC covering the nori to keep it crisp & fresh. - ORA KING SALMON CRUDO: their salmon was so buttery & melted in your mouth. The GOCHUJANG vinaigrette was sweeter than expected but light & refreshing - OYSTER SHOOTERS: the oysters were huge! Clean & bright, this was a fun one to eat but it can get stuck in the glass so not as smooth of a toss-back - THE 5 BANGER: HAMACHI, SPICY SCALLOP (my favorite), SPICY BLUEFIN TUNA (sweet pickled daikon was interesting), SHRIMP TEMPERA, & TORO. All of them were flavorful & visually beautiful They have SAKE-based cocktails & the prices were fair. No drinking for me that night but next time! The meal can add up so this is more of an indulgent meal. My friend commented that the food was better at this permanent location versus the POP-UP

Yelp
This place is a chatty Kathy's type of joint. There are two bars: 1 for drinks and 1 for sushi. We dat at the one for sushi. There are also tables towards the back of the restaurant for larger parties or for those who want a more intimate dining experience. There are also seats on the wall for what I assume to be just extra seating. Again, for ppl who just want to chat it up. Service was generally good. Waiters come and go with their ordering handheld device but you can also order directly from the sushi guys behind the counter. The sushi bar table was too shallow for me. Barely held my tiny plate, soysauce/Wasabi dish, water glass and hot sake. Had more trouble when I ordered multiple plates. Before I go into the food, I'll just say I gave this place 2 stars for 2 reasons: the vibe and the foie gras chawanmushi. If I could give a 5 for 1 dish, I would but wouldn't be fair. Foie gras chawanmushi 5/5 idk how they extracted the flavor of foie gras and added sweet smoke flavor to this and left the tofu so smooth like Panna cotta. Def give this a try. If they added boba to this, I would feel like I was eating a savory taho!!! Hamachi collar 1/5 this isn't broiled like how I'm used to them. Somehow one side got burnt but the other side (the meaty side)was left just as is with togarashi generously thrown on top. Needed so much salt that even the weak sauce couldn't salvage. This dish prompted me to order the PIckled Wasabi just to give it some flavor. Uni pasta 4/5 I didn't eat this but my dining friends came back here for this pasta specifically. They love it but the 38 dollar price tag for such small amount of pasta/uni made them want to buy uni and make this dish at home. Sea bream nigiri 4/5 I love sea bream. If u see a menu with this fish, order it. The flavor is so delicate but I love the texture the most. They added some sort of thin glaze on top which was excellent. I got their pickled Wasabi which is a must when I see it on menus as well. Clears your sinuses asap! Mushroom nori 2/5 for me but if u like mushrooms or obsessed with it, this will be a 5/5 for u. Avocado aka guacamole nori 1/5 yo. This was straight guac with some crunchies on top. I think of this was paired with their dry unagi roll, it would be chefs kiss. Young lady next to me ordered like 3 of them tho LOL Unagi nori 1/5 dry, not like the sweet and succulent broiled unagi I'm used to. More smoked which is probably why it's dry. Otoro sashimi 4/5 you can't really go wrong with otoro but 33 bux is a bit steep as one of the most expensive on the menu aside from unlisted "MP" marked prices. Toro with caviar 2/5 this didn't have much flavor to it. Yes the caviar was generous but I didn't get much salt from it. I was hesitant to pour soy sauce on top cause the Toro should be flavorful enough but sadly, it ended up just being mush texture in my mouth. Sad face. I really was hyped for this one. Also, I think their rice could be better. It was also dry. Nori was nice and crisp but I had a hard time removing from the nori holders. Needed 2 hands, is that weird? I did appreciate the hand towels!

Yelp
Great service, vibes, and hand-rolls by chef Sinh! Loved all the fish hand-rolls. The wagyu one was alright but they did also included a complimentary crispy tuna rice which was super good and should for sure be on the appetizer menu! Will be back.

Yelp
Trendy handroll place in the heart of bellaire! We had quick service and were checked frequently. There was a lot of bar and table seating inside. Parking is a bit difficult if it's the weekend. It is connected to other plazas if you want to risk parking and walking over. My favorites were the nigiri and the lamb chops! The lamb chops were perfectly grilled and seasoned and nigiri was absolutely delicious. I got the 5 banger hand rolls which were decently sized. There was a good and sizable amount of protein and rice in the handrolls. Worth a visit!
google avatar

Lalanica C.

Yelp
Cute little place that matches the vibe of inner-loop sushi spots. Table seating is limited for large groups but sushi bar service is more fun, plus you get a shot of their house made sake. Not sure if they rotate flavours but we had cantaloupe. The scallop crudo had great flavours. Salmon crudo good too. Lamp chop lollipops were well flavoured and juicy. We ended up doing the 5 handrolls set. Wish the shrimp tempura was switched out for something else (salmon would have been ideal but even if they wanted to have a more basic one avacado or mushroom could be nicer). Overall though, was impressed with the hamachi, spicy scallop and spicy tuna. The seaweed stayed crispy since they also use another edible membrane to keep the moisture wicked. Our server was lovely and friendly, checked on us throughout. It's one of the few (only) nicer sushi places for Bellaire, might be back if I needed another snack after being in the area The parking lot does get crowded and beware of the compact spaces on the side.

Yelp
very cozy ambiance here :) chef and all staff really made sure we are well-attended throughout our dinner food was exceptional, you cannot find such fresh deluxe sashimi near chinatown lamb chops were 10/10 esp when served right after sashimi i especially love their uni pasta, so creamy and well-seasoned foie gras chawanmushi is another must order would definitely come back for more occasions to support this restaurant

Yelp
New handroll spot in Bellaire was a nice surprise We started off with their "nojitos" basically sake mojitos. They were nice and refreshing. Perfect to start a more relaxing Friday night Appetizers: -grilled bone marrow tartare, delicious. Toast perfectly toasted. We wished there were more! -oyster shooters had a nice kick with the Tabasco vinaigrette. -scallop crudo was refreshing with the kiwi Entrees: There's options for a set of 4 or 5 hand rolls but we decided to build our own. There was no shortage of protein/filling to rice ratio. Some stand outs were the scallop foie gras and lobster truffle. Everything tasted fresh. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner. Looking forward to their official opening and seeing more from them!

Yelp
If you're looking for more high-end dining in Chinatown, then this place would be it! The rolls we decently sized and tasted great. My fav would be the spicy Hokkaido scallops. We sat at the bar so it the servers were busy making the hand rolls in front of us & the service is a bit slow. However, servers were really nice & gave recommendations! There are either bar seating or tables. It's a bit small inside, so if you have a big group- I would suggest making a reservation!

Yelp
Came here with kids and I wish I were hungry enough to try everything on the menu! The staff is attentive, but respectful of your space and super warm and friendly. The hamachi and unagi rolls are excellent, with just the right amount of meat and crunch. The miso soup was delicious if only very slightly salty (I do admittedly have a low salt tolerance.). My kids also enjoyed the well seasoned edamame and salmon rolls. Would definitely come back again for delicious bites!

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Nori Nori, Houston's newest sushi spot on Bellaire! Chef Cong is truly talented--every dish was beautifully crafted and tasted incredible, especially the sushi rolls and fresh sashimi. The wait time was about an hour, but it was worth every minute for the quality of the food. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the modern ambiance made it a great place to relax and enjoy the meal. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I came back and I enjoy this place! It was so good and they take a lot of criticism and made it ten times better! I love it. They gave us some free samplers! I would give it a 4.5!

Yelp
I really like that there's a handroll place in Chinatown now... cause it's so much closer to where I live than the other handroll places. I had the king salmon and lobster handrolls. Both were so good! None of the other handroll restaurants had only good ones. LOL Another great detail about this handroll restaurant is that they serve them one by one (like at Handies Duzo), so when I ate them, they weren't soggy at all (unlike at Koi). Another great detail is they don't serve them with annoying little plastic wrappers (unlike at Koi). I also had the lambchops and actually didn't like them. They do the lambchops sweet, not savory. :/ And it was a little too rare for me. So that dish is not really worth it for me unless they improve it. Lastly, I had the panna cotta. It was almost perfect.. just a little bland and needed more sugar.

Yelp
Took my friend here for her birthday. It was her first time at a handroll bar! The restaurant had dim lighting and a long sushi bar which could fit up to around 20 people. There was also regular table seating but we wanted to sit at the bar to get the full experience. Our server/sushi chef had outstanding service. He was very friendly and guided us through each handroll that was served. He also never failed to check up on us and even offered us free shots along with sorbet as dessert. Shout out to Danny for making this an amazing experience! I ordered the 4play set which came with scallop handroll, salmon handroll (we swapped out with crab), spicy tuna handroll, and yellowtail handroll. My favorite was the scallop and spicy tuna, but overall, I thought the handrolls were okay. The fish didn't taste as fresh and there wasn't anything special about the handrolls. The nori was kind of soggy too. We also got the oysters shots which I really liked. It was refreshing and exploded with flavor when I ate it. Despite the handrolls being underwhelming, I still enjoyed my time here.

Yelp
The music, vibe, service and food were amazing! We drove by this place so many times, and finally got a chance to try it! We got a 5 hand roll set, and loved each roll! The staff were extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
I've been MIA from writing reviews for a hot minute but HOLY FKKKKK I've awakened from the dead just to write this review. You ever heard people say "if I could give 0 stars I would"? WELL IF I COULD GIVE 100 STARS I WOULD!!!! Not to be dramatic or anything lol jk I am being dramatic but this place was AMAZINGG. From service to food, it was impeccable!!! And I don't even know what that word truly means but it just sounds right. From the server, to the chef and to the owner, service was excellent all around. The ambiance, environment, decor and even bathroom was clean and well done. The hospitality was great. Love love love. The food was fresh, flavorful and tasty. I ordered 4 different dishes that had scallop but all was unique and tasted different. This place is unique and innovative just like the speech from Kim K - " it's authentic, iconic and the greatest of all time". BUT WAIT! THERES MORE! I don't like lamb or should I say, I hate lamb. Went to a 5 star restaurant and the lamb still could not compare to here but LET ME TELL YOU, the lamb chops here were so good and not gamey at all. It was seasoned very well and charred to perfection. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Oyster shooter: 3/5 ok very vingery 5 set banger: 4/5 all handrolls were good. Except for shrimp tempura. Didnt really care for that one. We more into fish not fried shrimp. Torched Foie Gras scallops: 5/5 this is best item here! We end up order 6 more pieces! Overall, not bad. But pricey side for Chinatown. 3.8/5 stars

Yelp
A fun eating experience! We went here on a whim and really enjoyed everything! The edemame was one of the best we've had (cold salty and slight sweet!!!) the drinks were fun, my boyfriend got one where they put smoke on it. The sushi also tasted fresh. Included bill between two people. Our favorite was the spicy bluefin tuna by far! Service was excellent and we felt well taken care of, didn't feel like we had to ask for anything. Would suggest coming early when opening as they seemed to fill up spots VERY fast

Yelp
We decided to do the chef tasting/omakase and it was great- no complaints here. The chef and other workers were nice and attentive. The restaurant itself was beautiful- will be coming back to try the little handrolls!

Yelp
New sushi spot in Bellaire. Love the atmosphere, vibes and service. Premium quality sushi and dining. Chef Cong was great and explained every dish. Linh was a great server and always ensured we were satisfied. Plenty of parking. Prices are aligned with fine dining and premium sushi. So glad I don't have to go to Midtown anymore for bomb sushi!

Yelp
So glad to see a nice sushi place on Bellaire Asiantown strip. Very attentive service. Modern interiors. Eclectic playlist. I do enjoy the hand roll selections. I had a good variety including toro, hamachi, unagi, tempura and a few more. Really tasty scallop foie gras and amaebi nigiris! Will be back to try some crudo.

Yelp
It's ok at best. What upsets me is the fact that the hand rolls are inconsistent. I would get one hand roll thicker and the other small and flatter. Overpriced sushi in Chinatown not worth the value. My gosh their prices are higher than the Heights and in the Galleria. Now what I did enjoy was the owner hospitality and that's about it.

Yelp
First thing, parking is atrocious, if you're in to try for the weekend or a busy night, park in the H MART parking lot to avoid the jam in the parking lot in front of the venue. The restaurant has a nice interior, rather long hall way that can be hard to maneuver when busy but plenty of space at the bar. The rolls my friend and I received were from the preset, the 5 banged which included hamachi, spicy scallops, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and toro. service was nice and quick. Overall we're great with crispy seaweed. The only issue is taking off the plastic (made from easily decomposed material) is annoying but understand to make look nice and protect the freshness of the seaweed. Overall my favorites were the hamachi and toro from that set. Flavors and textures paired really well from that and If you're there for the first time grab the pre set first to get a general gist. The lamb chops are a must get, incredibly tender and pairing of sauces from the chimichurri and the balsamic reduction. Overall 4/5 I think in the southwest area it's a nice spot if you're craving hand rolls. Terrible parking situation especially with the construction, take the HMART back route and park in their lot to walk across to save yourself time and a headache.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner, the food was delicious and our waitress Alyssia was super friendly and helpful when it came to the menu. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. Alyssia guided us through the menu, explaining each dish with enthusiasm, which adds to the overall experience. It's clear they take pride in what they offer.

Yelp
Food was subpar compared to other hand roll spots in Houston especially at that price point. When it comes down to the hand roll 4 banger. The components of the hand rolls felt in-cohesive. I also didn't care for the plastic film that you had to peel off the hand rolls. It's makes for a soggy nori. Lobster chawanmushi on the other hand was silky and had good flavor. Decor and ambiance was nice with decor that makes you feel that you're not in Chinatown. Probably would opt to another hand roll spot before trying this place again.

Yelp
I was so disappointed in the service. The service was incredibly slow considering that there were not that many customers, and they were not informative of the wait time. In addition, they have lots of workers not actively doing anything. I understand the concept of pulling the plastic off of the seaweed but considering that it's already a slow service so it's super frustrating that i still need to take the plastic off when I just want to eat and leave. It was so hot in the restaurant. I went to a nearby restaurant after and the AC works great. The salmon hand roll was extra salty. Overall, I am not satisfied with my experience here.
