The Best Portland, Oregon Bar Patios | Eater Portland

"The back patio of this Northwest 21st bar is remarkably adaptable: The removable domed cover makes the space feel cozy in the winter and sunny in the summer, TVs visible from the patio works well for weekend sports, and the brick wall looming over the space makes a fine backdrop for live music on special occasions. The drink menu is going for an international schtick, with Moscow Mules sharing real estate with tequila sours; the food menu hews closer to home, with a nice range of burgers and a Parmesan-encrusted grilled cheese." - Nathan Williams

Great menu and atmosphere. The back patio is spacious and a perfect hangout spot day or night. Will definitely be back!

I have been to North 45 ten or so times but I just don't see myself going there anymore. I really want to like it and keep trying, but it's just not happening. The indoor space is nice and they have a fun patio and nice beer list, but in my experience the food is hit and miss, both in quality and whether they even have what's on the menu. Additionally, they are very often VERY understaffed. In our last visit, they were out of the first main dish choice for three out of the four people in our party...at 4:30 on a weekend afternoon! I really feel for the servers here as they are trying hard, but they are not being set up for success. I would expect a restaurant that is part of a decent size group to be better run than North 45 seems to be.

A true pub in the middle of a city. The beer was good and the food was tasty. The wait staff is friendly and full of good advice both about the beer and the food. There's a bier garten in a tent out back but we chose to sit inside the cozy pub. Stop in for a pint if you're walking by. You won't regret it!

I had a great experience with service and food. Burguer (n45) was delicious and side salada was good. The beer was also tasteful and intense (red). I highly recommend this place. The service was perfect and the waitress so sweet and customer oriented. Such a good surprise this place!

Excellent apple pie dumplings for dumpling week! My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed them and look forward to having them again during future dumpling weeks.

Google
Nice private patio in the back as well as outside seating in front with the heat lamps. The food comes out pretty quick and so do the drinks. I love the fries here! The wings are also tasty. My friends liked the clams here as they were soaked in a nice broth.

Google
There are a lot of spectacular bars in Portland. By far this is my favorite❗️ Great cocktails, unique tap list, huge liquor selection and food is delicious! Plus 2 patios‼️ The back patio is HUGE; covered and heated during the off season. What makes this place special is the staff! I can honestly say, regardless who you are, they genuinely care about your experience. They compassionately welcome you from the moment you pass through the door. As I said, there are a lot of great places in Portland. N45 is the special escape you need to include in your life! Game day, DJ nights, special events, date night, or just need to let your hair down you won’t be disappointed

Google
A fun time at their Kentucky Derby party. Everyone was dressed to the nines. Great live band. Friends said their food was tasty. The Guinness was well poured. Staff was friendly but a bit overwhelmed for hours. We were brought the wrong food & drink items several times. I was charged for a drink I didn’t order. I sensed that my bill was too high so I had to ask for an itemized receipt to confirm the extra charge as they had already charged my card without offering an itemized receipt. Kinda of a sour way to end an otherwise good time.

Yelp
Great customer service, I ordered their Myanmar Habanero Margarita and rosemary French fries . I loved them both . They have pretty high prices for Portland . Compare to SF ( where I live ) they have the same price . While I was in Portland I went to some other bars and they had cheaper prices.

Yelp
Attended a spectacular fundraiser yesterday for the Ronald McDonald House situated on the back patio of North 45. The staff pulled out all the stops with a very festive atmosphere of spectacular southern live jazz music, punchy cocktails and offerings of scrumptious foodie bites to sustain us through a very delightful afternoon. The crowd was decked out--seersucker, bow ties and ohh the hats on ladies and gents! Then there was the Kentucky Derby. All bets were off as to who the winning thoroughbred would be. Excitement plus came when the race began. The crowd was into it big time. Very happy times even though the long shot,Mage, came from behind to take the crown. Not too many winners in this crowd tonight but everyone sure felt like one! I enjoyed meeting one of the owners of the bar. He was clad in a gorgeous custom made pink seer sucker suit. Quite the dandy who made everyone feel welcome. North 45 was decorated exquisitely. Gorgeous flowers at all tables, TVs galore to view the race. But really the Oscar/Grammy goes to the band, Brassroots Movement. This ensemble just dominated and juiced up the crowd. Such a lively atmosphere. This is going down in my books for one of the best fundraisers I have been to. I highly recommend you come back to North 45 often. Make it your home as you will be treated like family. Also, subscribe to Facebook and follow the band. Guaranteed you'll have a blast. Super cool. Cheers!

Yelp
The customer service is OK. This is more of a place that you would go on for a first date or if you just wanted to hang out and have a drink the food options are very limited in specific to a certain type of eater. There was nothing that caught my attention. The patio is nice because you can bring your pet.

Yelp
Great service and vibes overall. TV was flickering on and off throughout the program though. Overall I definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came here for a quick drink for a birthday and I am so happy with it! I was surprised with the outdoor patio space since it's huge and even covered for the gloomy days. They even had TVs out there and the staff was kind to come out to the back to take orders and didn't need us to come inside to place our orders. I ordered a mule here and pretty standard. Fries here are also tasty and great options to share with a group! I didn't get to enjoy the indoor space or other food but there were plenty people inside so it's definitely a favorite in the area. Solid menu of drinks/food, affordable prices, and friendly staff.

Yelp
This place is incredible! It's a very cute and low key establishment with amazing decor, friendly staff, and equally delicious food. It's tricky finding a spot that's not over the top on New Years Eve, and this was a success. I have not gotten to explore the back patio area, however the main dining has an endless amount of warmth and history. Thank you for an amazing meal.

Yelp
A quaint and charming pub on a popular street. I am sure many come for the beer or the extensive whiskey list. But, we just came for a late dinner. We split the Brussel sprouts, green beans, and curry mussels. The brussel sprouts were crispy and the green beans a delicious flavor but the curry mussels were unlike any mussels I have had. The curry sauce had a bit of a kick but not overwhelming and the perfectly baked baguette that accompanies the dish was the ideal vessel for soaking up the flavory extra sauce. I highly recommend stopping in for a quick bite.

Yelp
This was the most random stop we made during our time in Portland. We visited back in September, but could not remember the name of this place until after doing a bit of research this morning. We were at the bourbon bar around the corner and on our walk back to the hotel decided to pop in here. The bar was empty when we arrived because it was still relatively early for any sort of dinner rush. The bartender was friendly and offered great suggestions, but the reason I am still thinking about this place months later is because of the food. The cook poked his head out of the kitchen window shortly after we got our drinks and let us know that he had just got some fresh mussels in and was whipping up steamed mussels in a coconut curry. To put it simply, those mussels were one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten! They were perfectly cooked, seasoned, and had the right amount of heat. I wish I had a before picture of the dish, but the mussels didn't last long enough for that. I do see that they have coconut curry clams on their regular menu, so if we return to Portland we will definitely be stopping in here again.

Yelp
Beautiful, fresh and perfectly executed menu items, never a disappointment! The pub itself has a great ambience, wonderful bourbon selection that is creatively displayed and an awesome patio tucked away in the back, but I will always return for the exquisite food; first experience surprised me as it was exponentially more than I expected from a quaint little place I was walking by, but I return frequently because the food never falters from absolute perfection.

Yelp
Was visiting Portland and stopped in on a Monday during happy hour. Super nice staff. Food is good and happy hour menu is very reasonably priced. Drink was delicious and food was good.

Yelp
I love this place! But they allow people to smoke outside in the covered areas. I am really sensitive to smoke and almost immediately get a headache and stomach ache. Detracts from the otherwise awesome setup they have outside. The food and drinks are fantastic.

Yelp
Ugh. Cute place. Shitty service. The bartender was FAR more worried about doing dishes than he was about serving. I ordered a drink and he chose to empty three more trays of glasses before deigning to serve my drink.,that definitely wasn't served in glasses he had to wait for the dishwasher to clean. After I finished the first drink I sat for ANOTHER 30 minutes with a I sat with an empty glass with no offer of a drink. The place was not busy.

Yelp
Banh Mi French Dip - meh. It was good but too much spicy sauce which drowned out the other textures. Would only order again in a pinch. Calamari appetizer - very fishy and salty. Luckily I didn't order since I could only eat one piece. Green beans appetizer - light, crisp and refreshing. Had peanut butter flavor. Would definitely order again. BBQ wings appetizer - didn't have but looked good! Moscow Mule - good but small drink. Waiter was nice enough but extremely low vibe. It was odd. They messed up on two orders (ran out) but offered to replace it with something else. Sit out back on a warm summer's day vs the dingy inside. This increased the score from 2.5 to 3 stars. I will only come back here if not by choice.

Yelp
This is probably the WORST food I've ever had after being in Portland for 6 years. I got the banh mi French dip. The pho soup straight up looks like dish water, and it tastes HORRIBLE. If you wanna experience how having COVID feels like, try this soup. You can't taste anything. There is no flavor AT ALL. At least put some sugar in there! The banh mi doesn't taste quite right either. The picture shows how much I love the food. That's exactly how much I wasted. I guess the Caesar salad is ok. My date didn't finish it though. I asked for the sweetest cocktail, and the server recommended this new one on their menu (that I totally forgot the name) that is not really sweet. Well, maybe my taste is different than hers, so I don't blame her. They do have decent drinks. The only good thing we had was this Rosemary Garlic Fries. They are good enough for me to give them an extra star.

Yelp
This is a really nice spot to hang out in Portland that isn't too crowded. From the front it looks deceivingly dark and cramped, but just through the hall to the back there's a beautiful patio (tables are comfortably spaced out!) with a few TVs which is nice if there's a good game going on. The employees were friendly and the service was prompt. I ordered the burger with a single patty, which came with a side of fries. If you have a preference for how your meat is cooked, let your server know; ours didn't ask and the patties came medium-well. The food was good, not mind-blowing by any means, but the service and ambiance made North 45 a positive experience overall! Will be back :)

Yelp
North 45 is one of my favorite bars in the Alphabet District, mainly because of the huge but unassuming patio in the back. The patio feels almost like a secret garden that only locals know about since it's not visible from the street. I was surprised but not that surprise to find out that North 45 has the same clever owners as Circa 33. This is a great place to watch sports- Timbers/Thorns, World Cup, Olympics. The service is great. The food and cocktails are creative but hit or miss. Usually I just get beer but on my last visit I had some cocktails. The cocktails had creative names and ingredients but not quite on point, they seemed to need to be stirred. Also one with habanero vodka was so spicy to the point of not being drinkable. The food menu is a step above standard bar food with eclectic offering but portions were small and prices overly high. 4 cocktails, a salad, green beans, the banh mi, and mussels ran 2 of us $120 + tip. However, the service and patio continue to bring me back.

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday night and had a great time. The staff are all super friendly, helpful, and attentive! Good food and drinks, and they have a good mocktail menu so anyone can enjoy tasty drinks.
google avatar

Aly C.

Yelp
The drinks are good but the summer salad is not worth it at all!! It was just a bowl of spinach with a few toppings. Don't order it. The garlic on the fries was raw. Wouldn't recommend this place for the food but the drinks and patio are good

Yelp
I had won 2 gift cards in a raffle a couple years ago at a super bowl party. I had sat on them for a while in hops to use it for a nice date. After wanting to try new places once things started opening up after covid, I decided to use them Anyways. I love the food her and the waitress was more than helpful and friendly through out on our first trip. We tried to use the gift cards and was told that "one of them covered the whole total" and we got them back. So naturally, we can back again because we were very impressed. But the second time we tried to pay, things didn't go so great. The manager came out and told us that "since the gift cards are so old the system runs them as credit." I had no problem paying otherwise but it was the comment that came afterwards. Upon setting the gift cards down on the table and letting us know he wouldn't accept them, he then gave a smart ass comment about "now I can hold onto them a little longer and hang em on your wall" knowing full well that the cards don't work. It is not my fault I don't know what's on the cards, your system should know that. It's not my fault that your system ran it as credit, your system should know that. If anything I should have been comped and apologized to for the issue. To stand there and say such a smart ass, petty and rude comment after THEIR system failed to read the cards is just disrespectful. The manager is an absolute sick in my opinion and I want to go back and support the business but I have no desire to support that prick. Once again, nothing bad about service or the waitress who we were lucky to have both times. But fuck the manager

Yelp
Quickly becoming my neighborhood bar, just in time for bars to shut down. But I'll be there again just as soon as this shutdown has ended... I love Belgian-style beers, and North 45 is a great spot for them! They sometimes have some inventory issues (lots of 86d situations lately), but generally I can get what I want on the first try. And the suggested substitutions have all been solid, anyhow. In a city drowning in IPAs, it sure is nice to be able to order a Tripel Karmeliet or a Chimay. Lots of great spaces to hang. Out front you have the (temporary?) table setup, which allows for a lot of people watching. Out back there's a really great beer garden that is weather-proofed and has TVs and the like. It's cozy and a great vibe. If you want to sit inside, they've got you covered. They tout a super-advanced air filtration system that makes it possible to breath just a little easier (ha!). Food menu is definitely impacted by COVID. I miss all of their bowls of mussels, but I can see how that'd be hard to maintain during such uncertain circumstances. Now most of what I get is pretty "bar food", but definitely tasty! Rosemary garlic fries, chicken wings, etc. They do have a few larger-portioned menu items, but I haven't given those a whirl. I love and miss North 45. Happy to hear they're re-opening on Dec 3rd.
google avatar

Kaitlyn W.

Yelp
Only good vibes here. It's cold outside but their back patio has a tent over it and heaters which makes it super cozy and warm, but not too hot. Drinks and service are great and the garlic fries are awesome. I love to come here with my friends for food and drinks.
google avatar

Nyla H.

Yelp
Idk what these others are saying but if this is the only review you read, go here!!! One of the sexiest burgers and delicious drinks spots there are in the area! Great service and staff, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly covid safe joint! Appreciate them for their hard work, and wish them continued success at this location!
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my standard hangouts in Northwest. The atmosphere is great at night. Service is friendly and they pour a mean Guinness. North 45 burger with bacon is fantastic! One of the best burgers I've ever had!
google avatar

Carldesha R.

Yelp
The music attracted me when I was walked past; I don't hear many places downtown playing R&B in Portland. The service was prompt and the waitress was very personable. Definitely a place to bring my guests.
google avatar

Yelp
This has always been my favorite neighborhood Portland bar, partly because I used to live in this awesome neighborhood, and partly out of appreciation that they were one of the first smokefree bars before the state banned smoking in bars (yes, smoking was not banned in Oregon until 2008; they opened in 2006). The menu is solid, with a good burger and fish-and-chips. The beer selection is also solid. The decor is nice, particularly with the travel theme. This seems like a great bar for a backpacker from Australia to go to, or something like that. The outdoor patio is quite nice in the summer and provides a lot more space. I recently had an experience that shook my faith in the place a little bit. This bar hosts a Kentucky Derby party every year -- makes a big deal out of it by encouraging patrons to dress up, etc. I stopped by on Preakness day to catch the race, and the bartender had no idea what it was and had some meaningless golf tourney on the main tv. 20 minutes before post time. They did put the race on, but seemed a little grudging about it. How can you host a big Derby party and then be clueless about the Preakness? I can't even imagine how much they drop the ball on the Belmont!
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
I love this place the Mac and cheese is so yummy and drinks are well priced. The back patio is adorable.
google avatar

Nathan D.

Yelp
Super cool backyard patio with a great selection of drinks. Portions were on the smaller side but the quality of food more than made up for it
google avatar

Tristen W.

Yelp
Super cute covered outdoor patio seating! My friends and I came on a Wednesday evening and had a great time here. It wasn't too crowded yet, so we were lucky enough to grab a table in the back patio, which is completely covered and heated as well. We were really looking forward to coming here for happy hour, since it's still listed on their website, but was slightly disappointed when our server said they weren't currently doing it. I ordered a Petrus Aged Pale sour, which was very refreshing and tasty. We also ordered the Rosemary Garlic Fries, which were absolutely delicious, with a strong rosemary flavor and freshly fried. Overall, I loved the ambiance of this place and this would be a great place for any occasion!
google avatar

Rachelle T.

Yelp
We went by on a medium busy Friday night. After sitting inside and being passed by waitstaff a bunch of times, we decided to double check with the bartender to see if we should order at the bar. Esp since covid I have no idea what's happening with ordering and where to do it anymore. With an eye roll, the bartender said we should sit back down and wait for someone to take our order. Being a little older, we're guessing we're not the desired clientele. Four thumbs down for the waitstaff at this silly, pretentious bar.
google avatar

Casey A.

Yelp
So sometimes you can bring your dog here and sometimes you cannot. I have been here 5 times in the last 6 months and 2 times my dog was not allowed on the back patio and 3 times he was. No one could explain why that was. Consistency should not be the biggest challenge in running your business. I have a dog that flies on airplanes but who knows if he will be welcome here from day to day. Very annoying. Wouldn't recommend
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I'm finding myself more frequently over the years at North 45. The appeal to me is the cozy warmth and atmosphere of the bar area and great drinks. North 45 has a nice intimate feel to just hang with your significant other or small group and catch up without being pressured. The bar tenders are on-point with drinks and service and their food is usually equally as good. The outdoor area is nice during both the winter and summer.
google avatar

Nate P.

Yelp
I know it's a hard time for small businesses, but North 45 is a shining example of how not to operate a business during a pandemic. The sole bartender/server dude clearly has given up on trying to provide any semblance of good service. Why is there only one guy working? He is just as upset and annoyed as all of his customers are. He knows the service is atrocious just as much as we do. I feel kind of bad for him but he is also aloof and unapologetic so I don't know. Do better, North 45.
google avatar

Ai M.

Yelp
It's 97 degrees outside. You've got half hour to grab and go. What to do? North 45 caught our attention, as it was close to the movie theater. It was dimly lit casual romantic setting for a pub, and menu drew inspiration from all over the world.... A red beet salad with mouth tingling sauerkraut - which was quite a beautiful presentation on a dark ashen earthenware. Another good vegan item was avocado toast with olive oil and crispy garbanzo beans on a whole wheat bread. Also had French fries which was packed with rosemary flavor with side of mustard. The sad state was we were barely half way done before needing to get a to go box to hit the theater. Portion was generous and price was quite reasonable - we didn't realize it was a Happy Hour (4-6 pm) and didn't even order from that menu. Interior was travel themed with passports and images of various regions. Menu changes incorporating global taste, and it would be nice to return when we've more time to savor the relaxed atmosphere and perhaps try some of the mussels.
google avatar

Christophe G.

Yelp
Quite surprised N45 is only getting a 3.5 stars average, as I love this spot, and it's become quite the local watering hole for me. The front has a charming French bistro vibe, with a few items on the menu to match (you better bring back the mussels post COVID!!), while the back is a large patio, covered in the winter and open in the summer, with an extra bar for faster service. The food I've had there has always been great, from the above-mentioned mussels to their North 45 burger, to their scallions and sesame wings. Never heard a complain from any of my friends either. The drinks are well made, full bar, and they know what an "extra dry" martini means, so it's a win in my book. The service is usually very friendly and fairly quick. Still a go-to during the pandemic, that should tell ya something!

Yelp
Went here for the first time just looking to find nice place to get a simple drink with some friends. In total it was just the three of us getting cheap $3 beers because we wanted to see other parts of the area. After waiting a few minutes of the servers chatting with each other (which wasn't that big of a deal) a server approached us asking what we wanted to drink and we just ordered 2 Rainers in-can and something on draft. Since I was third wheeling I paid for my Rainer for $3 plus .75 as a tip since I just wanted this one drink and she just had to open a can. As me and me friends just sit down on a table and hangout, the server came back and with a very confident voice that the entire room can hear tells me instead of "Rudely" giving her this amount as a tip just write it off as a zero, while aggressively drawing over my receipt. I have never had this type of experience in my life and .75 is above 20% of what $3.00 is. As she walked back to the bar I can also hear her talking about me with the other servers. Like we just wanted a simple drink?!? And we were pretty damn patient too. This type of attitude is what gives this area snob" hill. Seriously do not go here if you are not confident on what they're expectations are about you and what you need to "pay." It does not surprise me that there are other people with the same reviews here. DO not support them!!!

Yelp
Native Oregonian and I've lived in the neighborhood for several years now. I made a Yelp just to share that this place is great! N45 has been my home restaurant and watering hole since I moved to NW PDX. They have great staff, good food, an excellent patio and the best vibe in the neighborhood. North 45 is my Cheers! Some of you will know what that means. Norm #favoritebar #cheers #classic #goodvibes #pdxeats

Yelp
Good spot to watch some Saturday college football. International beer selection had some good Belgian options on it. The garlic fries are 10/10 but the burger was a little lacking in flavor, wish they had more options as well it is pretty limited.

Yelp
I've been to North 45 multiple times over the years and have never had a negative experience. But after today I will not be returning. After a nice happy hour, a few of us in the group left before the rest to catch a show. We paid, but turns out a couple items were left off our checks, which we were not aware of. Both staff and management proceeded to harass the members of our group that were still there, demanding that our friends pay for the items THEY forgot to charge us for. On top of that, they over charged for the missing items, and aggressively pushed back when questioned about it. While it's understandable that they were upset on missing out on charges (which, by the way, were only $16) that doesn't give them the right to be extremely rude and condescending for a mistake that they made. Also, if they were that worried about it, maybe try reaching out to the people that should have been charged instead of extorting others in the group that happen to still be there.

Yelp
A little spot tucked in the Pearl that has the feel of a grand old library. Wooden everything, and a collection of booze proudly displayed up to the ceiling. Specialty: whiskey, bourbon, Scotch- they recommend pairings on the menu, and the staff are great at giving suggestions at new ones to try based on old standbys that you like. They have a fun menu. Get the green beans. Just trust me. Fried, garlicky, and topped with crushed peanuts. They also specialize in shellfish like mussels, but they aren't my personal fave. Great happy hour deals! Their inside area is rather close and small, with a long bank of cramped tables along one wall, an L- shaped bar on another, a tiny kitchen (I assume), and a few seats in the front window. The gem of this place is the PATIO. A leafy oasis replete with picnic tables. Has a bar out there, too, which is great. Get there early to snag a table. Service can get a little slow, but I don't mind so much when the scenery is nice.

Yelp
Food is what you expect for $10+ small plates, wings were cold because they were slammed pre-Timbers game. For the price, the servers attentiveness lacked. Calamari was good and I recommend the ceasar. A great spirits selection, highly recommend a cocktail or Belgian beer. Food 3/5 Service 2/5 Drinks 5/5

Yelp
The ambience is gorgeous but the service was appalling. Very rude and pretentious waitstaff. Not what I expected from the PNW.

Yelp
Nice ambience, open air seating in back of restaurant, the Vigilinte is highly recommended if you are in the mood for a stiff cocktail! Service is ok. Might come back to try the food. Otherwise, nice place for a cocktail and conversation.

Good food and excellent patio, poor beer selection. Their mussels, which North 45 specializes in, are delicious. They aren't overcooked which is difficult to find, and their fries that accompany them are perfect! They have a few different options for the mussels, which is rare. The Caesar salad is underdressed and includes capers, not a fan. They seem to change their menu around a lot, which is nice. I tried a dish that was supposed to be a sweet and hot chicken, it was mostly sweet and hardly spicy. Wasn't bad but could definitely be spicier or rename the dish. They have a great happy hour from 4-6 we got 4 dishes and two beers for $36 so I can't complain too much! This place advertises live sports but there is not enough TVs or large enough TVs. I wish the back patio was dog friendly!

Yelp
Hands down the BEST outdoor covered, heated, COVID-safe patio setup in NW Portland to watch the Blazer and Timbers (and football). Expect the same level of cozy, yet ventilated, situation at their sister restaurant in SE, Produce Row. Super friendly and top-notch service at North 45 (and all of the IRC sister restaurants). Extra bonus if you are a Moscow Mule or Kentucky Mule lover, as they have all of the best libations AND the copper cups! The coconut curry steamer clams and mac & cheese are both a must... so, plan to share or come here with the munchies!!

Yelp
The service here is spectacular. With so many places to eat and so much good food, the service is really the change maker for me. However, the food here is also delicious. The mussels have so many variations and they are fresh. They tasted like fresh sea water. Plus and this is a BIG PLUS, the whiskey selection is delicious and vast. They had one of my favorites that is hard to find in retail. Please come in and try this place, it's a long standing establishment and you will instantly see why.

Yelp
Whizzzzzzz.... bonk! "What the bleep?!?" I love trees, but sometimes they fight back. You see, I had co-workers in from out of town who wanted to grab a quick drink and bite to eat before catching a flight out of PDX. Since it was a gorgeous sunny day, North 45 with its outdoor patio, seemed like a great choice. Besides, any place that bills itself as a traveler's pub is right up my alley. The patio out back reminds me a little bit of Europe (so do the exorbitant beer prices). What I wasn't expecting was that most of the patio would be shaded by a large tree and awning so it got a little chilly back there. Still it was nice to kick back on the wood picnic benches and peruse the Belgian beer and food menus until I was hit, not once, but twice, in the head by nuts falling from the tree. My co-workers thought this was hysterical. Me, not so much. They specialize in mussels and we ordered the Provencal style with sea salt herb frites. Since appetizers were half price (all day Monday), we added the Asian style calamari w/sweet chili sauce and sliders for half price. Of all the items, the calamari was my favorite, probably because I could bathe in sweet chili sauce, since I love it so! The Orval beer and my White Cosmo were good, but as others have noted, their cocktails aren't heavy pours. What left a lasting impression, aside from the lump on my noggin, was the slow service. Nothing horrendous happened, but we certainly felt a bit abandoned multiple times during our visit. Also, the server had very limited experience with the Belgian beers on the menu, which is a bit surprising since that's their specialty. I'll be back, with a hat, to give it another try.

Yelp
Banh mi French dip was definitely not worth anywhere near $16. That was my backup after they were out of the special: philly cheese steak. It was only 1 piece of meat, thinnest sandwich ever. Pretty much cilantro and bread. Pasta was nothing exciting either. It also looks nothing like the photos from others so they went cheap with soft bread and minimal ingredients & crappy tasteless broth. Darn I was looking forward to this date night, but won't be back.

Yelp
Great food and drinks, swift friendly service. Totally unpretentious place. My favorite in NE.

Yelp
We went with friends for a nice evening but had the absolute worst service ever. On top of that, they over-served a lady to point of vomiting multiple times but did not escort her out. The server just watched as her friends kicked a little gravel over the vomit each time (keep in mind we were in a covered tent...the odor!) as they continued to drink. Ruined our meals.
