"Yes, it’s an Italian chain but this ain’t the Olive Garden. These people are serious about their bolognese. Stop in for a bowl and don’t miss the crispy eggplant parmesan. Don’t want to go all in on Italian? The chef’s boards of Italian meats and cheeses are an excellent option." - Courtney E. Smith

Yelp
North Italia Dallas didn't disappoint! Although it was a little humid we decided to sit outside to enjoy the view of downtown Dallas. The fans cooled us down immensely. The vibes were quiet and carefree on a Sunday Afternoon. -We started with the Calamari which was perfectly cooked and flavorful 10/10 -Arancini was very salt and peppery flavored with a crispy crust, still good but not my favorite 8/10 -Burrata: this was my first time getting this but I expected more bread to dip in the burrata it was more like tiny croutons in a sea of cheese 5/10 -Margarita Pizza: pizza here NEVER disappoints. This is my new favorite so crispy and perfectly prepared 10/10 -Seasonal Vegetable salad: who knew cooked veggies in a salad would be so delicious? This is also my new favorite salad here! 10/10 -Pesto Pasta: I'm in love with this dish. 10/10 Drinks: Always strong and refreshing 10/10 This restaurant is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the world! No matter what state you are in you can be sure to recieve excellent service, fresh and delicious ingredients, and wonderful ambiance and drinks!!

Yelp
Came back after many years with high expectations after my first visit a few years ago. Everything was still quite tasty and service was still good albeit cordial, at best, and we weren't offered any cheese for our pasta after we received it. However, I wasn't blown away as I was my first time here as nothing was above and beyond. The room and tables are still clean and finely decorated with fresh flowers and having pepper grinders at every table is nice. The best item, by none, was the Beef Carpaccio; delicately adorned with freshly grated cheese, a citrusy salsa verde and what I think are fried capers, this appetizer went down without hesitation on the beautifully fluffy Italian white bread. The pesto on the chicken pasta was heavenly and the bolognese was good, and the pasta does indeed taste homemade, but the noodles in the bolognese were all stuck together, thus not cooked properly. The sauce seemed a little mushy, as well, like it has been sitting in a pot too long. The tiramisu was as exquisite as I remember, even though it's not quite traditional tiramisu, it has been prepared perfectly, and the topping adds a delightful crunch. This is still a great spot, but not something I will drive to Dallas for, again.

Yelp
3/5 food 3/5 ambience 5/5 service Food was quite subpar- the charcuterie board was the only thing that stood out. Drinks were quite watered down and not creative at all. The menu was also quite strict; they couldn't modify much to vegetarians or such. The ambience was quite loud and dark; the efforts were made for it to be an upscale Italian restaurant but the music or the vibes were definitely missing. The waiters were the best part. No complaints there's Would recommend this place for an app and drink type of start to the day; not for date night or big celebrations with a big group.

Yelp
Always a great experience here! Came for a girls night and was seated immediately with our reservations. The food and drinks are always fantastic! The calamari came with great sauces as well as the arancini. I had tried the squid ink pasta last time which was great but got the spicy vodka this time which was also wonderful! Always a tried and true place for a good dinner

Sammy K.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing! I loved every bite I took and was very happy with my order. I started with the Shrimp Scampi as my appetizer. My main course was the Ricotta Cavatelli which absolutely blew my mind. Then the group and I ended dinner by sharing a Tiramisu. The service was good. We were a fairly easy table and knew what we wanted. She smiled and gave recommendations when I asked. She came by a few times to check on us as well. The ambiance of the restaurant was a little more upscale than casual. Business casual was more true to form. We sat on the heated patio which was nice, but the patio was closed so we weren't able to see the view, but that was expected. Overall, a great experience. No complaints and would def go back to try other items. The Chicken parm looked amazingggggg!

Helen V.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend. Everything was so flavorful and cooked to wonderfully. The pizza was slight burnt on the crust though and bit too salty for my liking. The tiramisu melts in your mouth and the small chocolate balls on top add extra texture to each bite. The servers are friendly and helpful. The food took a bit longer to come out but the restaurant was nicely decorated.

Yelp
Great location, food and spot for lunch. I came here to meet a friend and her coworkers. It was a little loud but overall the environment was great! They were able to seat us despite the mid day lunch time. I ordered the vegetables salad with chicken - they were out of salmon or hadn't received their delivery for the day. The salad was good- needed a bit more dressing. The others dishes looked great and I have some other options to try next time. You are able to order zucchini noodles instead of pasta if you like which is a great alternative if you are seeking lower in carb options.

Lauren D.

Yelp
My experience was ok... food decent but nothing exciting. Why I'm giving 2 stars is the fact that they charge $4.25 for a single serving of Diet Coke - in what world is that justified? This unexpected charge made my bill higher than expected - I won't be planning to come back because of it.

Danielle C.

Yelp
Food is delicious and it's always a perk if you can sit outside! Inside is nice as well, plenty of tables and large size bar area. Service can seem slow at times, but I think that is mostly during lunch rush hour when I go. Recommend to those looking to eat downtown and get a view too!

Amber S.

Yelp
North Italia just happens to be my fav place for a good Spicy Rigatoni. And though I frequent the location in Plano more often, the Dallas location is just as good. The service and ambiance are always enough to keep me coming back. They also offer patio seating with a nice view.

Konnori B.

Yelp
Because of some extenuating circumstances, we decided to have a Valentine's Day dinner this past Saturday instead of tonight. The inside is gorgeous with a beautiful view of downtown Dallas, which is more than enough to visit this place! I ordered a drink with various coconut rums, pineapple, aperol, fresh lemon, and black walnut. One of the best drinks I've ever had! Everything was so well balanced, and having walnut in a drink was something I didn't prepare for; that's okay though! For the appetizer, we ordered mozzarella balls with risotto inside. They were a delicious appetizer despite being a little pricey ($14 for 6). The sauce included was a pesto aioli, and it complemented the balls well! Although it's not on the menu, I ordered fettuccine alfredo and added eggplant on top. The noodles have to be the best I've ever had! I loved how thick the fettuccine was, and it tasted so fresh! My partner loved the chicken parmesan, and I tried the noodles and loved those too! For dessert, we split tiramisu; I have never had it in a bowl before, only sliced. I loved it! The powder on top was strong and it hit the back of my throat, but I didn't care! It was perfectly sweet and light. We almost went with the butter cake, but we are glad with our choice of tiramisu instead! After I finished my meal, I came to the realization that North Italia really knows how to balance flavors in everything they serve, and that is a difficult task! This is commendable, and I sincerely wanted them to know that I fully appreciated this! Service was great, and our waitress was attentive and was fun! I'll be honest: my expectations for North Italia were pretty low because I felt like I wouldn't like "modern" Italian food. However, I was pleasantly shocked and surprised that it was the complete opposite! Overall, I will return to have another wonderful meal here, and I highly recommend this place for a date night!

Yelp
Had brunch here on a Saturday, we sat at a high top by the bar with Ricky (the bartender) as our server. He was great, lots of fun lighter/sparkling cocktails to choose from for brunch, all the food was great. Ordered the Cacio E Pepe Arancini balls, which were super gooey and cheesy on the inside. The Breakfast Carbonara pasta was also nice and creamy, BIG chunks of pancetta. My date ordered the steak & eggs and the steak was cooked perfectly, super tender. Finished with an espresso martini, of course. Also amazing. Great brunch

Maggie L.

Yelp
first time visit. Will come back, but wait a while. Very noisy. Young clientele. I went out on a limb and tried the eggplant. Parm appetizer. Marinara on the side. It was actually fairly good to someone who doesn't care for eggplant. Trying to get more veggies in my life. Probably wouldn't order it again, but I enjoyed it. Very crispy and not overloaded with cheese.

Susan C.

Yelp
Went here for a girl's night out and was surprisingly excited about the food. The calamari for the appetizer was easily the best out of evey, I really enjoyed how it wasn't so crunchy and oily. The pizza they give you are worth the money, and the pastas were really filling and tasty. My only critique is that sometimes the service would forget us and we would have to wait a while for refills. The restaurant is also really aesthetically pleasing and they even had real flowers for once. But overall good experience!

Erika O.

Yelp
We came on a Friday for lunch and sat outside. It wasn't too busy which was nice. I ordered a pizza and it was pretty big. The food is a little pricey but it was delicious. Our server was really nice and the service was great.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Had lunch yesterday again at another one of my favorites.meal was amazing, staff was friendly as usual , and service was top tier. Weather was beautiful and atmosphere welcoming as usual.. I had eggplant Parmesan, which the sauce is amazing paired with pasta... with the Caesar salad as my appetizer.. with truffle garlic bread.. another great vegetarian dish..

Kari B.

Yelp
This might be a chain, but it doesn't deserve that category. The white truffle bread is to die for! 100% worth the hype. We had three pastas and all were so yummy and fresh. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This place was picked by a friend for happy hour, so I came on down and joined her. The parking can be a little tricky, but there are options. They offer valet parking, there is a parking garage and there is street parking (meters) available around the area. With that said I was the first to arrive and I was rested the moment I walked in. I informed the hostess that I was meeting someone for happy hour and she let me know that happy hour was only offered in the bar area. After looking around the nice part is the bar area extends to the patio, so you can sit either inside or outside. I took advantage of the nice weather and opted for a small high top table outside. While I waited on the other people in my party, I went ahead and ordered the sangria - however I started by asking the waitress, is this a sweet sangria or a dry red wine sangria. She reassured me that it was sweet due to the other things added to the wine so I went ahead and got it. Unfortunately it was extremely dry and was everything I dread about red wine sangria. When the other ladies arrived they also went with the sangria - although I told them that what I was drinking was not something I recommended - and we also ordered the white pizza. I will say that I greatly appreciate the waiter as I specifically asked if they could accommodate me and do a section of the pizza with no onions and when the pizza was brought out she pointed out the portion without the onions for me. At this point the ladies asked the waitress about the sangria and stated it's not like they had it before. The waitress suggested bringing some simple syrup to which we could add to the drink ourself. Overall it was a good experience - the atmosphere was nice, the service was good and who doesn't love happy hour.

Yelp
The absolute best date night spot in the heart of Dallas! North Italia is conveniently centered among a lot of other known great restaurants and they offer comp parking for the garage, and have an exquisite scenery and decor. The patio boasts a breathtaking view of downtown Dallas that sets the mood just right. Our service was great and she had a lot of recommendations as she frequently ate there, which was good to know I'm leary of servers who never have eaten where they work. Started off with a glass of Riesling all the wine listed on the menu was top-notch, and the Sicilian margarita wow Perfection. The Italian meatballs were just right the cheese - oh, the cheese! - was big a hit. We had the 'pig' pizza for the main dish and I felt the sopressatta could have been a tad more prominent, it was still good. We're eagerly looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Spicy Rigatoni Vodka I can't believe it's taken me so long to finally try North Italia!! This place is fantastic. The food was amazing. Absolutely loved this pasta--so flavorful and perfectly spicy, and pasta was nicely al dente. Servers were super kind and attentive. Interior is pretty nice and large, parking garage connects to the restaurant. My friend really liked the spaghetti and meatballs too!

Jingwen Z.

Yelp
North Italia has good food and good vibes. Came here on a Tuesday weeknight and the place was bustling, so make a reservation to be on the safe side. I'm no Italian food expert, but to me, all the dishes we got were really delicious. The prosciutto bruschetta was delightfully creamy, followed by an elevated pizza with prosciutto (again), fig, and arugula, which was a perfect blend of sweet and savory). We also had the squid ink pasta, which was a decent portion size and again very tasty. The price was not bad either for Italian food in an environment that feels upscale. Would recommend for all sorts of occasions - we saw dates, families, groups of friends, and coworkers after work.

Natalie G.

Yelp
I will start this off by saying - this review is ONLY three stars because of three reasons. 1. They no longer have the BEST dessert on the menu (the Hazelnut Torta). We were so disappointed by this! 2. The "Bomba Style" so-called "dip" just was not advertised clearly enough on the menu, in my opinion. It just wasn't what I thought it would be. While it certainly was NOT "bad", I would have skipped it if I had known. It's also very overpriced. 3. We were there celebrating a birthday, and there was no nice touch provided by the restaurant. Bummer, as I have had this at other North Italia locations in the past. Otherwise, the White Truffle bread is TO DIE FOR. We order it every time. One "Pig" pizza is enough for two people (plus the appetizer). The food is so delicious here! Service was friendly and attentive, and the VIEW at this location is amazing! Overall, we LOVE North Italia but hope to see a few things improved with time.

Rakshak R.

Yelp
The manager/head I encountered was extremely rude, made me pay extra even though I clarified prior several times that an item would not be extra charge. Extremely unprofessional, and falsely accused some in my party of leaving without paying. Do not recommend this location.

Hailey S.

Yelp
Food is amazing. the calamari is the best i've ever had it's a must try! servers are nice and friendly. inside is upscale and fun. definitely worth a try for date night!

Houston K.

Yelp
Okay okay, I know it's a chain restaurant and not a bespoke quirky one off and I'm not supposed to enjoy it, but I can't help myself. North Italia is very much in the same vein as Brio Italian Grille. This uptown location is not the biggest, and the patio can get quite gusty but it has great views throughout and a nice open kitchen where you can witness all the dishes coming out. Appetizers are quite good, beef carpaccio and the white truffle garlic toast would be my go to items; though the portion size could stand to be more generous on both. The wine list is short and sweet and only roughly a 200% markup, for red I would highly recommend the Ornellaia "Le Volte"; the 2020 vintage got a 93 rating from James Suckling with the Fontanafredda silver label Barolo being a close second. Entrees are reasonably priced and plated nicely, the grilled bronzini when they have it is tremendous, and of course they have chicken parmesan and other classics you might expect. Service is usually quite attentive but the hostesses can try to trap you into a less than ideal table so you have to be stern with them. Most importantly parking at the Union Dallas is validated if you dine in, I believe for up to 4 hours. I've even utilized this to park for events at the Myerson or DMA, as those venues are only about a 13 minute walk away.

Meghan S.

Yelp
I've tried this place a few times and each time, the service and food were decent. For the price, I expect more but my friend really likes it so we go when it's her turn to choose. The drinks are decent, service alright & the food is ok - the dessert is pretty good and was my favorite dish this particular visit. Appetizer choices are minimal but the calamari was ok. The location is good with plenty of parking around, you just need to park on the street or in the garage. That's about it.

Lynn D.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday night & it was pretty packed! Service could have been better but maybe they were short staffed.. I had the red sangria which was just alright, calamari was crispy & well seasoned, chicken pesto pasta was kinda bland. We ordered the truffle bread as well as the regular bread & both of them tasted exactly the same... My friends orders kept getting messed up but our server was helpful. I have no idea what our dessert was called but it was soo delicious it was like a spice cake with vanilla ice cream & nuts I highly recommend that dessert! I would say the food was underwhelming but prices weren't bad.

Heidi A.

Yelp
Lovely place for casual dining that is tasty yet also good enough to celebrate something. We didn't want anything too fancy for a mid-week anniversary so we chose north Italia. We loved our two pasta dishes- I got the pesto chicken and hubs got bolognese. The bolognese hit it out of the park. Appetizer bruschetta was good, nothing mind blowing. We got the butter cake seasonal dessert and it was a lemony flavor bomb with pistachio ice cream and blueberry sauce covering it all. It was good !

Jacob F.

Yelp
We were able to make a reservation the same evening and were immediately seated when we arrived. The staff was very friendly, the food had great flavor and portion size, and the prices were reasonable. The music volume was a little louder than needed, but the overall ambiance was relaxing and enjoyable. We look forward to going back soon!

Kady L.

Yelp
I always get the house speciality bolognese. It N.E.V.E.R disappoint. Also tried the pizza and crispy calamari. Honestly, anything you order here is going to be good. Parking can be difficult but there is valet and garage. I believe you can get your ticket validated.

Mindy L.

Yelp
We go here for almost every family get together for the last few years. The food is amazing. You really cannot go wrong. The service is excellent. And inside or outside feels so cozy and fun. I would say be on the lookout for their gift card deals! Those are really great especially around Christmas.

Helen L.

Yelp
I like to come here to get a quick pasta fix. I haven't had Italian in so long and thought I'd stop by north italia again since it's been awhile. Portions are big so my man and I ordered 1 pasta dish and asked the server to split it into 2 bowls (you can do that) white truffled garlic bread was delicious. Lots of carbs going on in this picture, but overall a place I usually stop by from time to time. They have great cocktails as well.

Elaine K.

Yelp
Came here with some girls for a birthday dinner. The environment was cute, relaxed and chill. The place is located in a nice part of town with other cute restaurants around. Our waiter was very nice, attentive and took good care of us. The food that we had had mostly hits and a couple of misses. Appetizers we had the truffled breadsticks, that was delicious and unlike anything I've ever had. All the flavors were spot on perfect. The eggplant appetizer was also perfection. For main dishes they had a mushroom pizza which was the best dish that we ordered, all the flavors were also spot on. I tried my friends squid ink pasta, it was just okay, I'm glad I tried it. I ordered short ribs with some pasta under it. The picture online seemed like it would be more meat but it was minimal amount of shredded meat on top of a ton of shelled pasta. The taste was good slightly on the salty side but I was underwhelmed and left longing for more meat taste vs salty marinade... Thad just my opinion. Overall the ambiance and vibe was nice, the bathroom cleanliness was B+ it's hard because they had unisex single bathrooms so sharing with men is always gonna be hard to keep things looking and smelling decent. We had a nice time.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Came to the Dallas location for the first time. Immediately wowed by the view from the patio. It was perfect for a summer night. The location was awesome. Parking can seem tricky but was actually pretty easy. Right next door, there is a parking garage and you can get your ticket paid for if you eat at North Italia. Free parking! We usually get the white truffle bread and the Pig pizza so we stuck to our guns. The food came out perfect! They gave us a ton of bread. We enjoyed everything! Our server was also very nice and attentive. Didn't leave us for too long and didn't come back too frequently. He checked on us and made sure we were good. The only reason I am knocking off a star is because they got rid of their BEST dessert. The Hazlenut Torta was extremely yummy and they took it off, so that was a BIG disappointment. Overall, I had a great time here and enjoyed all the eats. I suggest you come and sit on the patio. I don't think you will regret it!

Karla J.

Yelp
Came here with my friend for her birthday in honor of her daughter. The atmosphere and ambience was giving casual bougie and I was there for it! Trying squid ink has been on my food bucket list for quite some time and this was the perfect opportunity to check it off. For the appetizer we ordered the arancini which Oscar, our server, who was an absolute delight, pronounced for me. The arancini were divine. The outside was crunchy and the inside was creamy from the mushroom risotto. The tomato sauce the arancini were sitting in complimented them nicely. I am not a big drinker, but the Julietta was refreshing. If you are like me and do not like strong drinks this may work for you. I say may because at the end you can taste the prosecco, but it is not entirely off putting. Again, I drink on rare occasions. Now to my food bucket list item. Oh my goodness. That pasta was delicious. I am assuming the squid ink is incorporated into the dough that makes the spaghetti. I was concerned with the mint inside the dish, but it gave an unexpected, but welcomed level of flavor that worked. The shrimp was plump and juicy and the squid was chewy how properly cooked squid should be. The sauce was spicy and brought all the flavors together. We had two desserts, the hazelnut torta and the bombolini. First let's talk about the hazelnut torta. Sweet Baby Jesus! The ice cream was luxurious, silky, smooth, flavorful, and just damn good. The torta was crunchy where it needed to be, around them edges baby like a brownie. The inside was warm and soft. The hazelnut toffee bits - ooooh buttery, crunchy, and caramel-y! Scoop all those components on a spoon that's a menage a trois! The bombolini would be a dessert I could order everytime I visit because despite looking heavy, it was in fact very light and airy. The lemon sauce it sat on was delightful. Before I wrap up this review I want to give an honorable mention to the Tuscan Kale salad. My friend ordered it and only wanted a small portion. The kitchen was very accommodating to her request. She tried and insisted that I try it. We both were upset we did not order the full portion. The dressing made the salad for sure. We will back to order the full size Tuscan Kale salad and try another dish on the menu along with trying another drink. Our total came out to be around 100 without tip. Yes, I did tip Oscar. He was on point with all his suggestions. I'm excited about my return visit!

Taylor C.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Was craving pizza and pasta, glad to have found this place. Ambiance was good. Service was amazing.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Stopped into North Italia before a Mavericks game and sat at the bar. I ordered a glass of Riesling and the Branzino. The fish was perfectly grilled with a couple of grilled vegetables. The portion is kind of small so I wouldn't recommend ordering solo but would be good in a group setting if you sharing a couple of items. The bartender was attentive and the food came out fast. If you in the area be sure to stop by.

Ryanne D.

Yelp
I can't wait to go back. It's nestled in a cute little area w great ambiance. The restaurant itself was welcoming and comfortable and set up to sit for a long time. Saturday night...busy....we walked in just in time for a couple to be leaving the bar for us to sit down. Otherwise they were on a 55min wait. Bar stools are super comfy. Restrooms... M/F, super clean and plenty of supplies. Staff was friendly and had personality which I love! We only got a couple appetizers w our drinks, but the bread w olive oil (a little sweet after taste) and the meatballs were so delicious. We could definitely eat that w a salad and be good for dinner. Parking garage....get validated at the hostess stand and you will be all good. Walking distance to the Stars and Mavs games. Would definitely recommend and again, I can't wait to go back!

Summer K.

Yelp
Great service! Great ambiance! Food is pricey but the quality is definitely there. Great place for a date night.

Jessica T.

Yelp
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Texas. We always have to eat here while visiting TX. Service is always 5 stars and food is excellent. The dining room is a great mix of you can be dressy or come in casual wear.

Caroline N.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to catch up with long term friends but the service was a bit unwelcoming although it was indeed attentive (my friends and I felt like we were being rushed to eat/pay/leave even though it wasn't crowded and there was ample seating available) It just felt off. Food was pretty good

Hannah S.

Yelp
This restaurant is on the second floor and has a beautiful balcony overlooking the city street. The server was very patient and knew the menu quite well. The food came out very quickly, as did the drinks. Italian spritz: 5/5 The Pig: 3/5 Margherita: 4/5 Tucano punch: 4/5 Overall, the environment was beautiful, the food was pretty tasty.

Dawn W.

Yelp
Fabulous service and fabulous food! We can't wait to go back! Food surprising good! We enjoyed everything from an appetizer to dessert!

Derek D.

Yelp
Best margherita pizza I've ever had. And best meatball sub I've ever had too. Great ambiance and the vegetable salad was great too

Jessica B.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday early afternoon. Sat at the outdoor/indoor bar. Very nice as you get the air conditioning while enjoying the sun and warm weather. Server at bar was awesome! I just had a drink but really wanted to try some of the food (however had just ate). Menu looked delish! And got to chatting with the server and a patron and they both agreed with my suspicions. The whole are around there is fun. Nice spot with lots of restaurants to choose from all with nice outdoor spaces.

Scott V.

Yelp
I've lived next door for over four years now, and this review is long overdue. North Italia is absolutely outstanding! There is not one restaurant I've dined at more since relocating to Dallas from Chicago. Be it eating there or carry-out, they consistently provide excellent food at a reasonable price with solid portions and top-notch service. Their appetizers, salads, mains courses, and desserts all hit the mark. And while they're maybe more geared towards dinner, I can't stress enough how good their brunch is when available. Bottom line: North Italia delivers the goods and I recommend them regularly to friends visiting the area. It's also a physically big restaurant within convenient walking distance of American Airlines Arena, so it's the perfect spot to hit before a Mavs or Stars game. A+ across the board and we look forward to each meal from these kind folks!

Nashra J.

Yelp
Beautiful fun atmosphere - not too crowded but just enough that it feels like a social night out. Excellent service every time. Their pizzas are a classic go-to - but even their appetizers, salads, pasta - never disappointed! Been here for dates and company dinners - wonderful each time! They validate for parking in the attached garage (:

Tewodros M.

Yelp
Great food, family friendly and nice customer service. Bolognese pasta was what I had.

Kate B.

Yelp
Went here with friends and the food and cocktails were good! Not the best for the price but can't complain overall. This scratches the Italian food itch!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Location is beautiful! We sat in the patio and the food had good portions for the price (sandwich was too big for me to finish at once so leftovers!!) Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The only issue would be that we were seated near the flowers and they must have laid fresh mulch because it smelled like poop for most of our meal.
