Where to Drink Cocktails in Chicago’s North and Western Suburbs | Eater Chicago

"During Prohibition, drinkers sometimes served spirits out of teapots to disguise their booze. The Northcott Liquorette keeps that tradition alive with kettles filled with dry ice to make them steam as you pour a cold draught like Reign in Blood, gin blended with blood orange, lemon and thyme-infused honey. A seasonally changing, mixtape-inspired cocktail menu doubles as the testing ground for the beverage program for the rest of the Empire Restaurant Group, which operates three other concepts in Naperville." - Sam Nelson

The Amalfi Diet Is a Good Diet Coke Cocktail

"A now-closed bar that once served the Cha-Chunker drinks, which used a machine to stamp wide openings into cans of pineapple juice or soda so they could hold inverted mini-bottles of liquor and be dressed up on the outside with garnishes." - Tammie Teclemariam

It’s pretty dang good. The drinks menu is fleshed out and gives tons of options for different flavor palettes and liquor preferences. My personal favorites are the gin based cocktails but their whiskey driven drinks are great as well. The interior atmosphere is great and fits well with the speakeasy vibe/concept. The low light and tasteful decor really drive this home. Lots of different kinds of seating available for reservation. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and can tell you anything about everything they have on the shelf. Apps, platters, and snacks can be a little pricey but do taste good.

I've traveled all over the US to speakeasies and was super disappointed with this one. I genuinely love the whole speakeasy vibe. We booked a reservation for my birthday and when we showed and begin to walk upstairs, they informed us it was closed for a private party. The woman working said that sometimes happens. We wound up going back a couple days later and sat at the bar. The cocktails were nothing special and both bartenders expressed how annoyed they were with people ordering more difficult cocktails. The drink was not properly balanced at all. The bao buns were good. We had 1 cocktail and left disappointed.

A very nice place for that early (or late) cocktail. Excellent choices, superb mixology, great atmosphere and the perfect place for date night or a drink with friends. Our server Ben, was professional, attentive and very knowledgeable. We had an excellent experience and we will return!

What a great place for drinks - Sorry we did not try any food. Drinks were amazing & the staff was brilliant. Atmosphere and watching the bar tenders work their magic was outstanding. You need reservations!! Your date may need a wrap AC was great but there was a chill to the room as it was 90 outside that day.

Exceeded my expectations. Drink menu is spectacular, truly artisan cocktails. Both complex and well balanced, great variety for a relatively short list. Our server, Jazz, was the best. Knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, she made us feel very welcomed and cared for the entire 2 hour stay. Even the limited food menu had something for everyone, quality all around. We left happy, full and satisfied. I look forward to returning.

Absolutely great spot. Even though there is food (great food not bar food) until midnight, I still wouldn’t consider this a restaurant. It’s a speakeasy bar at its finest with great craft cocktails and wine (but no beer) that also has food. Awesome staff. I wish it was open more than 3 days a week.

We made a reservation for 11 pm for 6 people on a Saturday night. Typical speakeasy with a nondescript door, dark lights, mismatched comfy chairs. The waitress came over and talked about the menu. Someone in our group asked about the absinthe drip. She went on to talk about how it is mostly for show and she thinks it is not worth it. They ordered it anyway and she seemed annoyed she had to do the set up for it. I ordered the same drink twice and the 1st drink was very different than the 2nd one. They should have been the same so the inconsistency is disappointing since the drinks are so expensive. The drinks were okay. Not worth $16+ each but they did have a nice and diverse menu. We did not try the food so can not comment on that. According to google and their website they are open until 2 am on Saturdays. Reservations are good for 2 hours. At midnight we were told it was last call. We were confused as we thought we had till 1 am. We paid and were finishing up our drinks and they turned all the lights on clearly indicating to us it was time to leave at 1215. We would not go back based on how we were treated.

We love going here.. very swanky, drinks are delish. Had the teapot for the first time. That was cool. Thankful our car didn't get stolen since the valet kept it running after he parked it on the side of the street. We definitely will be back.
