Atlanta Restaurant Openings, September 2025 | Eater Atlanta

"A second location of Northern China Eatery opened in late August along the Eastside BeltLine in the Old Fourth Ward, spotlighting hand-pulled noodles and northeastern Chinese specialties. The original restaurant is on Buford Highway." - Allison Ramirez

Northern China Eatery’s New Location Doubles as an Art Gallery | Eater Atlanta

"Awash in bright pink lotus flowers, rippling koi, and moody cranes by Andrew Blooms, the newest Eastside BeltLine outpost opens next to Emerald City Bagels and doubles as an art gallery: the painstakingly hand‑painted mural flows from the main dining room into selfie‑worthy bathrooms and up onto the ceiling, bathed in sunset‑like lighting hidden behind wood carvings that resemble mountains, with a black‑and‑white marble bar anchoring the room. The lush outdoor motif carries to a walk‑up window right off the BeltLine where diners can pull up from the trail. Known on Buford Highway for dumplings (hot and frozen to‑go), the menu here leans into those strengths with soup, steamed, and boiled dumplings—pork and fennel are standouts for $14—plus buns, plenty of noodles and fried rice, and the crowd‑favorite eggplant in garlic sauce ($16); with a table full of sweet‑and‑spicy grub, be sure to look up." - Henna Bakshi

Northern China Eatery - Beltline - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Northern China Eatery has been a dumpling staple on Buford Highway for years. Now they're opening a second location off the Beltline near Krog Street Market. To say we're excited is the understatement of the year. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Juli Horsford

Highly Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Planned as another location of the famous Buford Highway dumpling restaurant on the East Trail BeltLine, this outpost follows the team’s opening of the Dumpling Factory in West Midtown. An Instagram tease says the opening is coming soon and shows walls decorated with artwork by local artist Andrew Bloom." - Henna Bakshi

Let's start with the service, I sat at the outdoor bar and both of the bartenders were incredible! They were attentive, polite, entertaining, and light hearted. Also, they were very knowledgeable of the menu! The sweet & sour fish was amazing! Next time I'll request to have it cooked until it's crispy. The vegetable dumplings were also incredible! Typing this review I'm making myself hungry. The pictures will show that I was halfway through each dish before I even thought about the camera.

Tried Northern China Eatery on the Beltline, it’s halal (though they serve pork), but they assured us there’s no cross-contamination, which was good to hear. No alcohol yet, but might be coming soon. It was super busy when we arrived, but we got seated outside pretty quickly. We ordered chicken dumplings, fried rice, hot & sour soup, and the Chong Qing spicy chicken. Fried rice came fast and had a nice homemade taste. The hot & sour soup was tasty and a huge portion. The spicy chicken was very spicy; full of chilies, ginger, and peanuts. It was good, but too hot for me. Dumplings came last and were great, but I wished they had more sauce options (only chili oil). Portions were big, flavors bold. Worth trying if you're into spicy food and Chinese comfort dishes!

This was our first time here. It had the shortest wait time we’d come across (20mins) so we decided to give it a try. Our server was sweet and didn’t mess up anything but service was really slow. The entrees were ready before our appetizers. They arrived warm and had completely cooled before we could finish. I ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce and the scallion pancakes. The shrimp in garlic sauce was mostly carrots, 6 shrimp, and no garlic. It was also very sweet and had hardly any spice. Not worth the money in my opinion. The scallion pancakes arrived hot but were very bland. My friends also ordered the beef and carrot dumplings and felt they were just ok. The sweet and sour fish was also just ok and arrived lukewarm. Finally, they still don’t have their alcohol license. They offered complimentary sake which would have been great but it never arrived.

There is so much to love about this restaurant. Service is great, the restaurant itself is beautiful and kept clean, and there are indoor and outdoor dining options. As it should be, the food is the star of the show. Every dish we tried was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We tried pork and garlic dumplings steamed, shrimp fried rice, and spicy chicken over cabbage. I would love to eat the same dishes again and would like to try more foods. Parking is either limited street parking or paid parking in a parking garage nearby. With being located in the Beltlibe, it’s perfect for taking an after dinner stroll.

Went here on Saturday after they opened. Their menu is smaller than the location in Doraville, but still has all the main attractions. Overall, the new location is great with the same good food quality. The service was great and fast too. We ordered the black pepper beef, shrimp fried rice, scallion pancake and the soup dumplings. One critique was that the dishes came out in a random order, we got the beef first and the fried rice last, but i imagine this could be due to the kitchen being new. The beef was really delicious! The scallion pancake and soup dumplings were to die for as well. Everything was hot and fresh. The only dish we didn’t care for was the shrimp fried rice, which was oily and a little soggy. We would’ve preferred it to be crispier and there were only three shrimps of various sizes. If you’re a fan of the original location and live ITP, this is definitely worth a visit! I will definitely be back 😊

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 4.5/5 We had a great time at Northern China Eatery. The indoor-outdoor space is really nice; it creates a lively yet comfortable vibe that suits any mood. The food was even better. Highlights: - Crab Rangoon and homemade dumplings were fantastic. - Steamed pork belly was perfectly prepared. - Crispy fried chicken was especially delicious. We sat down right away and our food came out relatively fast. The atmosphere was fun and energetic. One small drawback: it felt like they could use a couple more servers while they get their feet underneath them. Overall, we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Cute spot on the beltline by many other restaurants. This is a branch of the already popular location on Buford highway. We tried the soup & 2 types of dumplings. No street parking available. You’ll have to park in the public parking structure down the road past Krog. Cute interior, & bathrooms 😀 Lots of patio seating available too.

Northern China Eatery just opened their new spot on the Beltline this weekend, and it already feels like a place I’ll be coming back to often. The vibe is similar to their Buford Highway location, but with more seating options: there’s a patio, extra tables near the kitchen, and even a bar area, though drinks don’t seem to be flowing just yet. As for the food, the highlights of our meal were definitely the soup dumplings and the Szechuan fish. The dumplings came out steaming hot, perfectly delicate on the outside and bursting with rich, flavorful broth inside. And the Szechuan fish, my longtime favorite, was just as amazing as always with that addictive balance of heat, spice, and comfort that keeps me ordering it again and again.
