Yelp
This review is for the "Northwood Pizza" parlor at their Irvine, CA location. We'll just go by the numbers.
1. Decent-sized pizza.
2. The cheese had a good flavor.
3. Marinara Pizza Sauce was a tiny bit too sweet (why we gave 4 stars).
4. Good for the price.
5. Great dough and crust.
Now my one (1) complaint.
6. Neither pizza box was sealed, and they were both open to the world.
*****************
Aside from the marinara sauce, we had no real food complaints. If anything, we'd ask that they spice up their marinara pizza sauce and give it a little kick (their marinara tastes far too sugary and sweet vs. Tangy).
Here's a minor suggestion. Years ago I used to order cheese pizza from a smaller "mom and pop" pizza-parlor that offered different sauces. In my case they used to offer a spicy Arrabiata sauce for their cheese pizzas (in lieu of marinara). It gave their pizza's a wonderful spicy flavor without having to add pepperoni. Anyway, this is my suggestion.
Now more on my one (1) complaint. I've noticed that the wide majority of restaurants seal their boxes and bags if their food is going to be delivered via any of the many delivery services (I.e., themselves, or GrubHub, DoorDash, UberEats, etc...). Especially, post-COVID.
They usually staple the bags shut and place a ROUND sticker on the lip of their pizza boxes sealing it closed so people can tell if its been opened or tampered with.
Our pizza box had no sticker of any kind and was open to the world. We were surprised at this, and will not order delivery from this business again for this reason. However, we will do pickup if we're in the mood for pizza, and are near their location in the future. Like we said, it was decent pizza.
Thank you.
