Not A Speakeasy

Such a fun spot!! We had a karaoke night and the place is such a vibe! The decor is so extra and perfect for photos! The staff was wonderful too! Great spot for a bday group and they’re so accommodating. Can’t wait to go back again.

My friends and I visited Not A Speakeasy on a Friday night after dinner. The ambiance and drinks were fantastic, and the bartender was very friendly. The DJ was exceptional, and we all loved singing and dancing to the music. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try their food. However, I am planning to go back on a Friday night to enjoy the great atmosphere again.

Such a lovely place (they’re new I think), service was good, bartenders were nice. They had some pretty creative cocktails. Not the cheapest but it was definitely of quality and the atmosphere was just wonderful. DJ of the night was amazing as well! Totally made my Saturday night!

Would have given this a straight one star if it wasn't for the nice guy on the door. Once inside the guy behind the bar saw us come in and proceeded to ignore us completely. Then served 2 or 3 people who got there after us. Then when no one else came instead of serving us decided to just start washing stuff up while looking in our direction. If this is how you feel better about yourself great but it's no way to run a bar. Maybe speak to the guy on the door about how to be a better human....

I noticed this place has low ratings and I’m so sad!! I don’t understand why! I had a great time here!! It’s so cute, it’s definitely very eclectic and had a lot of goofy art but I thought the vibe was fun!! The drinks are so creative and cute I loved the menu. And everyone who works there was so nice!!! I would totally come back

This place is so much fun it ought to be illegal!! Great staff, amazing beverages, perfect musical selection every time I’ve been … and the decor makes me love it more. The secret is out, the local precinct may know, but this place remains a go to for those nights where everything is just right

Six of us went to this super cool little lounge for the first time on 6/28/23 for Pride Bingo hosted by the very fun and entertaining drag queen ‘Saline Dijon’. Upon arrival we were all given a gratis spicy watermelon margarita shot courtesy of Hornitos Tequila and some fun Pride Hornitos swag! Each drink that came to the table was more whimsical and outrageous than the last (see photos) and Saline kicked off a hysterical night of Bingo with five of the six in our party all winning prizes, including the grand cash prize that evening of $124! Apparently drag bingo is going on here every Wednesday night in July 2023 too but this (hidden downstairs) gem of a bar is worth checking out on any evening!

Not as expected. I was trying to visit this place since I move to the neighborhood. at first sight Decoration and the atmosphere was great but the music and the prices are not worth it

This was a fun little bar. We came for drag bingo which said it started at 7 but really didn't start until closer to 8:30. Once it got started it was really fun but we were one of only 2 teams playing. The drinks were tasty and creative but definitely on the pricier side. The bartender was friendly and the ambience can't be beat

went for drag bingo - good music, nice that it wasn't too crowded, cool vibes, fun weekday hang idea! tried 1 of the drinks & 2 of the shots and all are doing a little too much. I'd go back but prob have a more simple mixed drink, wine or beer.

My friends and I play bingo quite often with friends in our apartments. We heard about DRAG BINGO (right up our alley) that's when we discovered NOT A SPEAKEASY on East 84 off 2‼m I'd walked by several times at night hearing great music from downstairs! The decor is cool the seating is comfy and the overall vibe is great. I strongly recommend this place

This place is dope! Best speakeasy in UES. Been here a handful of times and it does not disappoint! Drinks are all unique. Amazing Dj especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Attentive servers. Coat check available.

The artist features in this bar would gravitate you into coming in. I love the art inside this bar. The drinks where okay wasn't that tasty but the presentation of each drinks was impressive. This is definitely a spot to go to pre game with your friends.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I came with two close girlfriends to celebrate her birthday. We arrived at 8:30pm and it wasn't too crowded. A couple tables filled with groups and those at the bar. We ordered the champagne cake which came with sparklers and the DJ played a birthday song on cue. From there, the night only got BETTER. The diverse music kept the diverse crowd entertained, happy, and fun. We all literally danced and sung the night away. I only saw smiles in the crowd. No persons that were overly drunk or causing any trouble. It's a small space so it felt like an underground house party. Truly enjoyed my time!

I ordered one drink. And was charged 47.50. I was never given the option to close out. Girl gave me my card after she charged me the 15$. I get notifications on my phone when a charge is made. Today when I was going though my bills they changed the charge to 47.50$. When disputing with them they said I was responsible for my " guest". However if I was responsible for him, they failed to even ring up his drink. We sat down at the same the and she took both of our orders at the same time. I was charged a 8% service fee for failure to pay. Although law clearly states you can only be charged a fee if you leave without your card. Which in this case she handed me my card back. Their reasoning states that their cameras having me say I was paying for both, although I find that hard to believe since the music was so obnoxiously loud I had to point on the menu what I wanted because none of us could hear anything.

Giselle was a rockstar and even suggested alterations to a drink based on my preferences. Cool place with good music and vibes and the nicest bathroom I've ever seen in my life.

This place was not for me, and I love speakeasies. Decor reminded me of a college party, and not in a good way. The drinks tasted terrible, like a child mixed them together with weird candy and other flavors that don't go together.

What a disappointment. I was super excited to try this place and went with some friends. The drinks came in fun cups, but were just mediocre in flavor. What really put the nail in the coffin was when the bartender accused my friend of stealing a cup and then someone else ASKED TO SEARCH HER BAG before we left. What the hell kinda service is that? Definitely will not be returning and definitely do not recommend. You're better off getting cheap beer at a dive bar than visiting this lame speakeasy.

Super fun place. I loved the bar with money from every country. The DJ's playlist was fun. We danced all night.

Bumping underground bar spot that with the appropriately sized crew (4 people max) can turn into a rowdy time. The drinks are definitely different and strangely it can turn from absolutely dead to packed within minutes. $17 a drink. 5/5 stars as a night bar.

Bouncer was incredibly rude. told me my REAL ID was fake and refused to even scan it after I was here two weeks ago. he even yelled that I am I Liar. incredibly unprofessional. taking my business elsewhere.

They weren't wrong when they titled this Not A Speakeasy, a more fitting name would be "Not A Place I would Ever Return To". The drinks were simply terrible. Can someone explain why banana protein powder belongs in a cocktail? Genuine question this place needs to answer. Only star is for the great DJ, this place could be cool if the drinks didn't taste like actual garbage.

Hey dollface! My friends and I were super excited to head to this spot for a night out. It looked so cute in the video we saw on Instagram. Since we were running late, we called multiple times and emailed. This is when we found out they do not answer the phone (and once we were there, I even called while sitting and the phone did not even ring...). The bouncer was really nice! Once we got in we saw the tables, dishes and plates were quite dirty :( they don't serve food so we ordered Teddy Grahams which were expired and tasted like cardboard (disappointing but thankfully they took it off the bill... not that we should have experienced that either way). The waiter even tasted it and agreed and promptly placed it in the garbage can. Overall, the service was pretty good. The drinks were eh. Import/Export was terrible and tasted like nail polish remover, but does come with a cute tiny (emphasis on tiny) taste of ice-cream! The Blood Bath was solid, had cute looks, and I got to keep the rubber sharkie! The pills and potion was okay, and it comes with (4) skittles. The soft pretzel (which took 15 minutes to come out) was weirdly delivered on a plate with the logo of another speakeasy (UES.) ??? The place is overall dingy and tiny. 0/10 would not recommend. It is definitely NOT a speakeasy, we left within 20 minutes, and were super disappointed in how it looked deceiving on Instagram.

Horrible experience. Bouncer was rude and I got denied with a VALID out of state drivers license, I'm 23. Tried to show him multiple credit cards showing identity but still was turned away. Will not be returning.

Incredibly rude bouncer. The drinks were overpriced and mediocre. Bar stank like they had a fraternity basement. Avoid at all costs.

Such an amazing place! Staff was beyond nice and the comedy and drinks were the best.
