"Charlotteans have definitely heard of beloved local coffee chain Not Just Coffee, but of all the NJC’s, this one feels like a best-kept secret. In a bungalow off of Providence Road, this Not Just Coffee is usually one impressive barista at a small counter, mastering artful shot-pulling and milk steaming. This bungalow is also home to contemporary art gallery Soco and upscale men’s fashion shop Tabor. Together, they’re situated like a little village, giving a low-key luxury aesthetic that’s rare for Charlotte. Visitors can browse the art books and dream up having enough money to buy an Italian jacket, all while sipping a cappuccino or any of the other refined drinks — latte, matcha, drip — on the lean menu. This NJC sells pastries from local Wheatberry Bakeshop and Patisserie La Rue — crumbly coffee cakes and croissants, which sell out quickly and can be dipped and sipped with coffee on the side porch or limited indoor countertop space." - Kayleigh Ruller

I had an amazing experience at this coffee shop on my first visit, and I’m definitely coming back! The barista was incredibly sweet, making the atmosphere even more warm and welcoming. The space itself is calm and friendly, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. I especially loved the opportunity to appreciate the art inside and enjoy nature while sitting on the patio—such a great spot, especially now that the weather is warming up. I ordered a caramel latte, and it was absolutely delicious! I went to study, and it was the perfect setting.

I’m not a coffee drinker so I can’t speak on how good theirs is, however I did have their teas and was very pleased. This location is very serene. I enjoyed looking at their collections of books while my tea was brewing. My interaction with the lady at the register was also pleasant. Will return.

As a chef, I always look for a perfectly balanced cappuccino, just like I like my wine-- not too acidic, not bitter, but rounded and nutty, full of depth-- and when it can be done with almond milk (since I'm sadly dairy intolorant), a coffee shop knows what they're doing. Not Just Coffee does it perfectly 🤌🤌 The ambiance inside is delightful, but the outdoor "hidden nook" surrounded by vines is my favorite.

We decided to visit some place in Charlotte. Before we visited SOCO Gallery, we thought to stop and get coffee at Not Just Coffee. To our surprise, they are together in one building space. My daughter ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk and I ordered a hot mocha latte with oat milk. They were delicious! Ethan took great care of us! He was so sweet, friendly and helpful! We really enjoyed talking with him! If and when we visit Charlotte again, we will definitely stop here again!

My husband doesn’t get excited about anything. But every drink of his macchiato so far he’s said “this is LIFE CHANGING” or “I’m gonna chase this high till I die now.” 😂 But seriously, skip the Starbucks. This coffee is AMAZING. The shop is so cute too! Art, books, clothing, everything. It’s more than coffee, but they totally get the coffee right!!

I popped in to Not Just Coffee for a quick cortado (which was delicious hence why I started drinking it before I remembered to take a photo), and discovered that they not only have great coffee, but a beautiful art gallery as well as a men's clothing store that carried some handsome clothing articles on a pretty big discount (70% off). I felt very welcome, and the ambiance was lovely. I will be back!

A friend and I stopped by to check out the art. We were able to grab some delicious pastries and I had a latte. Both were so delicious. The atmosphere was fun. Beautiful art to buy and gift shop things. The staff were so nice.

This is a unique coffee shop. Not Just Coffee is hands down the best and most consistent coffee shop in Charlotte. Their baristas are friendly and know their stuff. This particular location is quieter than most. I asked El, the barista to make me a swan and she nailed it 😊

Yelp
This is the BEST coffee I've ever had. And also the best location too. The other Not Just Coffees do not compare for some reason. It's super rich and the caramel sauce is homemade goodness. We go every Friday to catch the bakery that sets up there on that day too and it's a perfect combo. They're also located in an little art gallery so you can look around while you wait. And the wait is never long cuz the people there (honestly usually this one girl who knows what she's doing af) are so efficient. The only thing bad I can say is that they've ruined other coffee for me so I have to come here all the time lol

Yelp
Quaint little shop with some art and clothing for sale on the inside. The barista was very nice and super knowledgeable. The menu is limited but should have a little something to meet your needs. There aren't many seats inside. There are plenty outside. It is located on a busy road so If you sit outside, you will have to listen to busy traffic. It didn't bother us. We were able to chat and enjoy just dine. The parking is not great at all. It is very limited and a little hard to navigate.

Yelp
This specific NJC location is an all time fav! I hadn't been in so long since they had to close down for a few months during the pandemic. It felt so good to pop in and get my fav: vanilla latte with oat milk. They are always so sweet and helpful. They actually introduced me to oat milk a couple of years ago and changed my life LOL. They usually have house made pastries like poptarts, which is pretty cool. There is also a men's clothing store inside and an art gallery. You really wouldn't know this just from driving by but this location is pretty damn cool!

Yelp
Solid coffee. Good vibes. Headsup dont go exit from the driveway you come in from. You wont be able to see oncoming traffic. Theres an additional exit on another side that will safely let you out . But yeah coffee is great. Hot chocolate is good. I didnt check the gallery. But i like the vibe. Super chill better than starbucks. Bathrooms through the gallery. Your welcome. Also the barista is highly skilled. Like shes definitely the corner stone of this place.

Yelp
This place is cute and different but a little confusing? It's mostly a clothing store and a book store and an art gallery with a tiny little counter for coffee. Their menu is super limited but they have probably anything you'd want. We got a black coffee and a vanilla oat milk latte - both were good, cost around $10. I feel like there are probably more welcoming coffee shops in the area.

Yelp
A small shop with only a couple of tables but they still have their excellent coffee. My daughter and I stopped in for a power up before we started out morning of exploring. I have been drinking a cortado lately instead of latte. It's equal portions of espresso and steamed (not foamed) milk. Same caffeine, less liquid and therefore, fewer bathroom breaks. It usually tastes great and did this morning at this NJC. Good wifi and a neat little shop that shares the space with an interesting art gallery. Quiet, peaceful and we enjoyed our coffees. Yelp
Love this NJC location! It's easy to get in and out if you just want to take your coffee to go. Even though there is only one barista, she is efficient. She's also very nice, which is always a plus!

Michelle K.

Yelp
The coffee was good but it felt like an afterthought in this space which seemed really dedicated to being a store and a gallery.

L K.

Yelp
This is not a coffee shop. It's a men's clothing store, and an art gallery that has a small coffee counter with a very limited menu. Eh.

Kelly C.

Yelp
This second (third?) location is pretty cute and one of the more unique coffee places I've visited. They have a little shop for clothing, books, and the like, making it feel almost more like a gallery than a coffee shop. The coffee selection is quite limited but that doesn't take away from the quality. I love the outdoor spot - it feels like a comfortable backyard even though it's only steps away from a busy street. Very cute.

Yelp
Satellite without any of the food of a normal Not Just Coffee. Not the same experience.

Megan J.

Yelp
Not Just Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in all of Charlotte. I was glad when they opened up this location closer to my house than the other two. Their coffee is delicious and their housemade caramel syrup is to die for. I am a creature of habit and always get the caramel latte. Latte art is on point too. This location is pretty small and has more of a grab-and-go vibe than a work from here vibe. They are in a shared space with Tabor and SOCO Gallery. A lot of expensive art and expensive men's clothing to browse while you wait for your drink.

Yelp
This location of NJC is going to appear different than people are used to, but the amazing coffee and friendliness boasts the familiarities that Charlotteans have come to love. Here, NJC shares space with the SOCO gallery and Tabor clothier. This is why they ultimately have a smaller beverage menu, because they only function from a small counter space, but the vibe inside is so perfect. I always wander in the store section of the gallery while my coffee or tea is being made. Which, by the way, is PERFECTION for buying that unique gift for friends or family. They have amazing cookbooks, coffee table art books, etc. There are also vinyl records for sale with amazing classics. I went crazy getting vinyl for Christmas gifts a few months back. One thing to NOT overlook here, is even though the menu is slightly smaller than other locations and it is not a traditional coffee shop feel, the outdoor patio is outstanding. As soon as the weather decides to stay warm, I will be there doing work as much as possible. It is beautiful, peaceful, and in the heart of Myers Park. This patio is perfection. Please come support this NJC location, because I need it to stay, it is a minute from my apartment! I love the uniqueness this collaboration brings to the area, all while allowing me to enjoy my favorite Charlotte coffee. It is a place where I will take family immediately when they come to visit, go to the gallery, grab a cup of Charlotte's best coffee, and relax on the patio. See, I've helped you plan those pesky family visits ;) Try it out! :)

Yelp
If I could give this place a 10 stars I would. The two alternating baristas here make consistent quality cappuccinos. They are kind, friendly and so talented. The patio is beautiful and I enjoy working on my laptop inside as well. It's quaint, and by far my favorite spot in all of Charlotte. You'll find a mens boutique and little art gallery in there which are a nice touch. Thank you NJC!

Yelp
Vibe and good coffee -- but you know what ruined it for me? Being watched like a hawk to make sure my mask went back on after each sip of coffee. I appreciate the vigilance, but let's not act like totalitarians. Not cool.

Yelp
Hate their hours but love the space! The addition of the bookstore / art gallery/ high end clothing boutique makes the space feel less like a coffee shop and more like a hipster experience. Sip coffee and peruse the selection of eclectic art, design, cooking and classic literature books on display. Or saunter through the gallery! Honestly loved it and could have spent the better part of the day!

Sassafras B.

Yelp
Really top notch. The coffee was excellent (cappuccino to be exact), the Taschen/Assouline bookstore was really cool to browse, and the men's clothing store was chic! I especially loved the Bonnie Raitt album hanging there - just brought me back to a relaxing time in the 90's! If I had to change anything (and I'd be pressed), I'd like to see just a tad more trash cans to dispose of my coffee cup. And on that topic, I'd rather use a ceramic mug than a paper cup (it actually does change the taste). But I could truly just sit on that porch for hours on end.
