Ari Taymor’s Santa Monica Brunch Pop-Up Goes Permanent, Adds Dinner | Eater LA

"Led by former Alma chef Ari Taymor, the pop-up is being made permanent at 2424 Main St. in Santa Monica; brunch service is pausing today for material improvements with a planned reopening on May 4. This is Taymor’s first major project since Alma closed at the end of last year. Currently in its second month of weekend-only service, the operation will add near-daily dinner service next month, running Monday through Saturday. The space — a former Fork in the Road property — will undergo minimal changes, aiming for a casual dinner aesthetic akin to Tyler Wells’s evening approach at All Time in Los Feliz. Andrew Noel and Tegan Butler are leading the redesign while GM Steve LaFountain continues to oversee the wine and cocktails. The dinner menu will emphasize farmers-market ingredients and seasonal vegetables, delivering the same laid-back meals that have characterized the brunch program." - Farley Elliott

Ari Taymor Returns With New Weekend-Only Westside Brunch Pop Up | Eater LA

"A weekend-only brunch pop-up led by Chef Ari Taymor, who re-emerged after his West Hollywood restaurant closed, offering a focused weekend menu aimed at revelers and brunch fans. Expect classics and standout items like soft scrambled eggs, smoked salmon hash, chia seed pudding with sorrel, and the chef’s buzzed-about patty melt, with the full menu available online. The operation is a partnership with Shane Murphy and general manager Steve LaFountain, who will be serving breakfast cocktails in the Main Street space (the former Fork in the Road location). It’s a temporary takeover for the next several months with Saturday–Sunday hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; reservations are available but there is no set timeline for how long it will run." - Farley Elliott

Yelp
Make sure to pay attention to your bill. We were charged for a drink we did not order and told the waiter 3 separate times we did not order. Cocktails are really good though.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good and the vibe, complete with a well-stocked bar including plenty of bourbon, is comfortable. A good sized pizza making space takes up most of the rest aside from the bar, and the rotation of pizzas are generally liberally sprinkled with toppings. Service is excellent, especially with Kent working the bar. Seating is maybe a half dozen or a little more at the bar, a decent sized high-top, some tables, and an outdoor patio that's probably nice in the summer.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite bar on the west side of Los Angeles. No questions! The cocktail menu is unbelievable. I've never had as many individually amazing drinks one after the next. The place was definintely bumping but the service never felt slow or like I was waiting to get a drink or some food. CLAM PIZZA! No joke, this pizza is 10/10. Everything we ordered was so delicious including their salad! Best bar by far! IMO

Yelp
I had two cocktails and a pizza. Staff was excellent. Asked the bartender about the wine selection and he offered up a glass he preferred and even described the varietal. Dude working the pizza oven was also a hoot. Joked with us while he worked, which was cool. Loved the exposed pizza oven and work station. Pizza was delightful. Vibe was good. First cocktail (king of the castle) was a good old fashion riff. I was not a fan of the second cocktail (ghost punch). It was a bit too medicinal. Otherwise a solid place to hang and fight for seats.

Yelp
Somehow this spot is always popular, even on a monday or tuesday night! Not no bar gives off down to earth vibes while being a cocktail bar, and I love the open bar seating. Their pizzas are pretty good and the staff is super friendly. I loved the kula cucumber cocktail and recommend the pepperoni.

Yelp
Tried Not No Bar for the first time since hearing all the commotion about it! It's the newest little disco / cocktail bar in Santa Monica. The drinks are delicious and the pizza is amazing. Bartenders are also super friendly and helpful! My only real qualm is that its very limited seating (first come, first served) and while I know they say they're cocktails first, their pizza oven is literally in the middle of the bar. If you want to be able to come and seat and eat it, you basically have to come at opening or you're SOL because it gets competitive and packed. We got there early and had to check in with people as they were paying for their bill in order to get their seats which is always uncomfortable. But, I feel like they should prioritize tables for those who want to eat so they can? I'm fine to stand with a drink but its impossible to eat a pizza in a packed room with no table I think there's some kinks to be worked out here and I do think once they open their outdoor seating things will improve!!!

Yelp
Great vibes and pizza, but knocking off a star because trying to get a table if you want to eat a pizza is kind of a nightmare. Unless you're a large group, it's a free for all at the bar for seating where there's I think 8 seats so you basically have to stand around and wait for someone to leave. We got here around 6:30 and it was pretty packed. We were lucky and got seats maybe 10-15 min after we got there. By the time we left around 8, there was a line of ~20 out the door. If you're coming for a drink, they have unique drinks and it's great but if you want to sit down and eat, it'll be hard... the pizzas were really good though!!

Yelp
Beats, wine, & pizza - three of my favorite things. Now mix in a great ambiance, awesome art, and a cool bar and you somehow have an East side feel over here on the West side. I went with two friends, Maggie and Tara around 5:20 on Thursday and it was jammed. Maybe one seat at the bar open upon arrival and two booths. We opted for full service at the booth and Maya and Cutter were great servers. Usually, I'm NOT a sparkling girl but we went for a natty sparkling red & when they didn't have the preferred option, Cutter brought over another (pictured below and v tasty). We shared the bang bang pizza & the crudo, mostly because I was begging the girls for the crudo but next time, I'd get two pizzas.. even if it means paying 27-29 for a margarita or pepperoni with hot honey.

Yelp
Happened upon this new pizzeria/cocktail bar on Main Street in Santa Monica, in the former Isla/Little Prince space. A large domed pizza oven dominates the space, toward the back. The pizzaiola tells us he uses walnut for the wood burning oven. He turns out great Neapolitan-style pizza. Had the Bang Bang, a pie with soppressata, peppers, onions & greens -- it was delicious! They have a clam pizza that I'll have to come back for. Full bar with some interesting cocktails -- another thing I'll have to come back for, since I stayed with the Creature Comforts lager on tap. Cool vibes, disco-y music, small and crowded. A fun place to be.

Yelp
Salad was alright, the pizza was meh, the service was horrible, and the place was SO LOUD. Go ahead, call me an old granny, but when you leave with your ears ringing and a sore throat from yelling at the person next to you, you'll see.

Yelp
The cuisine was exceptional, and the staff provided outstanding service, especially considering our last-minute arrival. For those seeking authentic cocktails, this establishment is highly recommended. Everything was fresh and meticulously prepared, contributing to a cozy and charming atmosphere.

Yelp
Great pizzas. Awesome cocktails. Very much a bar that has food so be prepared (don't assume you're getting a booth)

Robert B.

Yelp
Friend and I came on Monday, early evening. Found seats with no problem. Probably the most interesting cocktail menu I've seen in a while. Each of us had 2 different drinks, 4 total, all were outstanding. Sent our complements to the bartender, and he came over and chatted with us about the cocktails we ordered. Incredibly friendly staff, servers. Pizza(s) were great. Very cool mellow mood on a Monday, just what you want your neighborhood bar to be.

Yelp
The place is really cute and a vibe! My friend who lives in the area said they needed this. Crudo was delicious and so was the pizza. Creative cocktails too! I will say this places system is awful and annoying for anyone trying to join for a sit down dinner. It's really hands off and is a fight for the death for a table. They also don't regulate people occupying the tables so people are jerks and linger while others are trying to get service. They need a hostess and time limits. The system itself would keep me from coming because you wait around in a crammed place. Maybe it's more of a late night place?

Skylar A.

Yelp
The best cocktails in LA hands down! Great service, amazing atmosphere and the coolest bartenders around! You can really tell everyone who works here is passionate about their work!

Yelp
I liked the food at this place but the service was so bad. They decided to tell us the rules for tables AFTER we were already waiting an hour for a booth. After trying to understand the point of view of the server, the waiters decided to be rude to us. It is basically hunger games waiting for a table and the servers are very selective with who they allow to break the rules. Don't waste your time here. This place could use more organization.

Yelp
As a New Englander, I know a clam pizza when I see one, New Haven has been rated the best pizza in the US for that specific pie. That being said, outside of New England, this is the best clam pizza I've had. Also, just pizza in general. Their crust and body are firm but chewy enough that its perfection is an afterthought to the clam and cheese flavors that permeate the rest of the pie. Can't wait to try the Italian sausage version or even the artichoke because they wood fire them for that smoky flavor. Love it!
google avatar

Alanna G.

Yelp
Servers are rude and no signs about reserving a booth, but they expect paying customers to already know this . Put up reserved signs if tables are reserved.

Daniel B.

Yelp
It's Not No, but it's also Not Always Yea. 5 stars for the bar service 4 stars for the pizza 3 stars for the comfort and seating availability This is a bar that serves pizza. Expect your usual Main St. crowd, fun atmosphere, high energy. It's hardly a restaurant, but as long as that's what you're going for, it's a good time. Usually standing room only on the weekends. If there's no line, I'd go back.

Yelp
The bartender was super rude. In addition, they overcharged my credit card by more than $75. Trashy crowd and yucky food. Please avoid this place if you can.

Yelp
Awesome pizza and ambiance close to and within walking distance is many other bars and restraints
google avatar

Yelp
The food was iconic, the clam and the tiramisu was amazing and the service is stellar just wait your turn and don't overwhelm the bartender.. killer tunes

Yelp
The bouncer at this establishment was really rude to me and my friends as we were trying to get into the bar. With no reason, he decided to kick us out of the line and yell at us. We were excited to come to the bar and grab drinks and food and are disappointed with the way we were treated and therefore will not be coming back. In addition, I would warn people coming here to never speak in line because anything you say CAN AND WILL be used against you. (To be extra specific, the man at the door had long hair and a braided beard - not no bar, I would recommend removing this man from your service ASAP)

Sarah J.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the ambiance was so fun but the cocktails we got didn't taste the best. I'd go back and maybe try a different one but the pizza was the star of the show. We got the margarita with prosciutto and La Blanca and both tasted great. Service was pretty slow but I'd still go back for the pizza. It's a good starting place for the evening and the vibes are good.

Yelp
Amazing pizza. I say this as a lifelong New Yorker. It's potentially the best pizza I have had in LA. The bar is fun and busy so you're guaranteed to get a crowd. You can't make a reservation and it's a bit of a fight to get space to hang. But the pizza and cocktails are well worth the wait.
google avatar

Anna Y.

Yelp
It was a really cute spot but was unfortunately so busy and the bar so mobbed that after 15 mins of being unable to get a drink we left

Loro G.

Yelp
Damn fire vibes fun ass place but the bartenders succkkkkkk bad attitude bad drinks high prices. Good place to bring the boys tho

Yelp
Fun new bar in Santa Monica! A little crowded but lots of fun people to meet and smells amazing cause of the pizza

Yelp
Just about the best cocktails, pizzas, salads, staff and ambiance you could hope for in this hidden getaway. Obviously, though, the lines out the door and down the street indicate that the Not No Bar is no longer a secret. The extraordinary vibe this joint possesses is like no other!

Logan U.

Yelp
you are not the destination, just a pit stop. Friendlier staff at Jamesons or the Victorian and better prices too

ally r.

Yelp
I used to like this place but the staff is rude. It's very busy for the amount of customers they get. Work on your organization and maybe we'll come back but honestly not worth it. Don't waste your time.

Yanina Q.

Yelp
Awesome awesome so fun and just awesome. Delicious friendly hip and fun. Don't go and take my seat!

Alex H.

Yelp
Service was great, our server gave us drink and food recommendations and even told us about the gelato spot a few doors down. It got pretty loud around 6:30 but it wasn't bad. Pizzas were amazing and so was the scallop appetizer. Lovely experience.

Ana H.

Yelp
The pizza and drinks are good but it's not worth the extremely rude service and having to stand while you eat.

Adam M.

Yelp
Favorite new Santa Monica bar. Delicious cocktails and food. The clam pizza is a must (never thought I'd say that in my life but it's true). Great music and overall vibe.
