California's Craft Sake Movement Has Come Into Its Own

"Nova’s co-founders Emiko Tanabe (a native of Niigata Prefecture) and James Jin met while studying for their sake sommelier certifications, and after tasting their way through diverse styles of sake across Japan, returned to Los Angeles and began work toward building Nova."

How Master Brewer James Jin Brought Premium Sake Back to California - Eater

"Using local rice and traditional methods, Jin makes the alcoholic beverage at LA’s first sake brewery. Noticing an absence in LA’s sake scene, Jin embarked on co-founding the city’s first sake brewery and tasting room. His shop is dedicated to using traditional methods and local ingredients." - Terri Ciccone

Nova Brewing in Covina Is Producing the First LA-Made Sake in Over 70 Years  - Eater LA

"Nova Brewing Co. is a small tasting room located in an industrial complex in Covina, producing some of the first sake in Los Angeles in over 70 years. Founders Emiko Tanabe and James Jin aim to brew sake that reflects California's drink culture. Despite challenges with the equipment and regulations, they adapted beer brewing equipment for sake production. Nova's sakes are made from California-grown Calrose rice, emphasizing local ingredients and distinct brewing methods. Their first sake, Gravity, uses a drip filtering method for freshness, and their latest, Eclipse, uses both yellow and black koji for a wine-like profile." - Fiona Chandra

Had sushi for dinner, wanted some sake, and accidentally found this place. It's behind the gate and you would the staff to let you in. Had a flight of various kinds of sake/beer, and a jinjo #7 white beer. All taste great. Like the simple display of the seating area, and the taste of sake/beer. Will bring food here next time (they don't sell food here).

Google
Up and coming still with lots of potential, almost like hidden gem, reminds me of Two Coast Brewery. Looks like you are walking into a spot in Japan lol I liked it. Beers were sooooo good, I recommended it to my friends.

Google
Absolutely love this place. It's my new go to brewery. The beer is so good. And don't even get me started on the sake. I'm a bit lit rn since I just came from there. But it's a go to place!! You will not regret it! Pet friendly as well and super chill environment. I also usually hate IPAs but their yuzu got me feeling some type of way. Flights are $15 for 6 too 😍

Google
This place was a great experience, reminds me of the early brewery scene. The Sake was great and the beer was good. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. I look forward to my next visit.

Google
Dog friendly. No kitchen and allow outside food. Great and very unique beer + fresh sake. This is my first sake-ery in the US. Had been to a couple in Japan. We tried their beer and their sake. It's hard to find fresh sake in the US. If you have not tried fresh sake, you have to try it because they taste sooooooo much better than any sake you have tried in a restaurant or from the supermarket. The sake are so smooth and very refreshing. Each of them had unique and distinct flavor profiles. Their beers are great too. They brew their beer in Japanese style so it is very unique and different from other breweries. Absolutely coming back for more sake and beer!!!

Google
Cool decor and games (giant jenga will never fail to entertain). Beers were not all we had hoped. Flavors are a bit more bland than the beers other local breweries offer. Was a pain to find and maybe I'm being a princess about it, but the whole process of pulling up to a gate and calling a number to be let in is a bit much. Staff is friendly tho, ain't nobody mad at the bartenders.

Google
This local brewery is amazing! Not only are their beers, wines, and sake unique, the service is unparalleled in the brewery scene! After trying their drinks, owners Emiko & James helped us plan and host a private party in March 2022. From the moment we inquired until the cleanup on the day of, they were practically part of our celebration (but in a responsible way). We absolutely had a blast and everyone was so impressed by the beer, sake, and wine. In fact, a couple of our party animals bought bottles of sake to pass around! Totally a 10 out of 5 star experience! Can't wait to be back!

Google
Wow! Beer and wine?!? Awesome combo. Staff are cool and very kind. Found this place off of Groupon and will definitely be coming back when in the area. I must say their Symphony Moscato is very delish! Love the atmosphere. Everyone is welcome.

Yelp
I was very pleasantly surprised with this brewery. The place itself is behind a gate so you have to be buzzed in. It's a hidden gem for sure. We tried the hatsukoi, sparkling cherry sake and the ooglong island beer. Everything was delicious and different than the usual breweries I go to. I loved the uniqueness and the space. The service was good. There was one person running the show and he was great. I have already told family members and friends about this spot. I will definitely visit again!

Yelp
A hidden gem We wanted to try new things and decided to come to sample their sake. This a small little place full of flavor. My favorite one was Doburoku unfiltered sake, creamy custard flavor. We also like gravity, not your typical sake, pleasantly refreshing and delicious. The host was very nice and knowledgeable of the process. I would definitely come back !!

Yelp
Such a cute unique spot! I love the beer here! Very intimate, they have low music in the background. Prices are okay. Definitely a good place for a conversation but not the Friday night vibes. It's over a cute spot nice staff and very clean. Super cool that they require a password to get it haha.
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
Sake and beer!! The spot is located in a gated business park. There's a number posted on the side that you call and they'll let you in. I've been to this spot twice now and my favorites so far are the Doburoku, mango Doburoku, and oolong beer. I personally love unfiltered sakes. You can bring outside food, which is nice to catch up with friends. It's a chill and small spot with a few long tables. One of my favorite spots to stop by when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Attended this location through a Yelp event. Did not even know there was a Sake brewery so close, let alone one of such great Sake. The owner and his staff gave us an amazing presentation and tour. We tried 3 different Sake and a sake wine?? My favorite was the Gravity which was a traditional Sake and was able to try a rarity to me the Doburoku are milky looking Sake with particles of rice still in it, what a treat. The ambiance was of a small family run sake house. Definitely telling my friends about this gem.

Yelp
Go and enjoy a unique experience ~ especially when they debut their latest great creation. Their events with multiple food vendors are out of this world. Quality abounds, here.s

Yelp
Great unique sake and beer. The carbonated water they had was surprisingly so good. Could be more lively inside but was something different... call at the entrance for them to open the gate

Yelp
I have been meaning to come to Nova for some time. They are the only Sake brewing company I am aware of in SoCal. We had to call to them to get the front gate opened. I ordered the sake flight which had 6 glasses. It was plenty to drink for a tasting. I particularly liked the cherry flavored one, peach flavored one & the unfiltered one. All of the sake is cold and they were all smooth. I bought two bottles to take home. Unfortunately they were out of the cherry. Next time, I will try the beer flight and get a bottle of the cherry Sake. They allow you to bring outside food so we got takeout dinner and enjoyed it with our sake and beer.
google avatar

Jinyoung J.

Yelp
I came here via Justin's recommendation, and he let me sample different drinks. I can't exactly remember everything but all I know is that I really only liked the drink that I ordered because it was fruity. I got the Momo. It was fragrant, and I loved the fruitiness of it. I think maybe I lack the knowledge and expertise to be able to judge the drinks themselves, because none of them really appealed to me. However, the sake taste was a new experience. The plum wine was okay, but very different from what I'm used to. The inside is very cozy though. It would be perfect for smaller groups. The coolest thing about this place is the story of how it came to be!

Yelp
Friend of mine loves sake and I wanted to gift him something special. Searching the internet lead me here,to Nova Brewing. The story was inspiring and interesting and compelled me to take a deeper dive. The brewery,in close proximity to where I live was an ever better incentive to check out this hidden gem. Tucked away in a business park, the brewery overall was a great experience. The staff person who was there was so very helpful and knowledgeable and made me feel welcomed. We ordered the the flight sampler of both sake and beer. All offerings were great tasting and enjoyable. I ended up buying a couple of bottles of sake for my friend and am curious to hear what he has to say. I loved what I sampled. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
At first I was startled that you have to call to buzz yourself in. That was pleasantly surprised when we got in. Customer service was wonderful and it was very helpful and friendly. We went with sampler of the beer and tried a couple sake as well as the plum wine. Liked everything we tried. Even went home with some. Worth the visit will be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

Yelp
I gotta be honest, I was pleasantly surprised with Nova's Ginjo 7 beer. In fact, it was take a 4pk to go good. Accessing this place is a bit unconventional, it's almost like a speakeasy access but with an urban twist. You call up and they open the gates. Anyways, the brews deliver. Their Ginjo 7 is such a rich blonde ale, wow! The service was top notch too. Overall it's a solid brewery with outstanding beer. Will come again.
google avatar

Alicia G.

Yelp
If you can't decide between sake or beer... why not try both??? This place has a gorgeous selection of sake yeast beer, sake, and, oh, I almost forgot... they make their own PLUM WINE! It is a tad different to find and the hours are select. When you arrive, they're will be a gate with a phone number. Call it and say the "secret not so secret" password under the phone number to enter

Yelp
recently found out this brewery also serves sake so wanted 2 give em a try :) place is not huge but has a good selection of beers we ordered a $20 flight of 6 choices: yuzu witbier (beer) dunkel weizen (beer) yuzu vacuum (sake) ginjo white (beer) gravity (sake) okinawa (beer) beers were good, minus dunkel weizen didnt like our 2 sake selections friendly staff $20 is bit steep would visit again

Yelp
I like that they offer sake, beer and wine tasting. I believe it's the first sake tasting in Los Angeles. When we were there, they were sold out on half of the tasting menu. Wasn't a lot of option to try. We got Oolong Island (My fav), Ginjo 7 blue, Okinawa Smoke (Very Smokey, not my fav), Vacuum, Gravity and Sweet Peach. I really liked Oolong. It's very unique, something I've never had before. As for the vibes of this place definitely needs some improvement. Empty fridge, empty shelves, plain walls, seats are either too high or too low. Overall it wasn't very comfortable. I think i will come back to give it another shot and hopefully there will be more options to try. FIY: Most of the older reviews on this page belongs to REV

Yelp
Nova Brewing has been hands down the best brewery I've ever been to this year! My friends and I heard about it from another friend that is a frequent visitor as well. Super close by to where I live and in a gated area. *call the number on the sign -- right side of the gate* Quaint place that makes you feel at home, whether you're on a date or with a group of friends, you just feel at ease. Plenty of seating that you can rearrange to fit more people if you come in with a large party. The owners, Emiko and James, are very friendly and welcoming! I remember the first time my bf brought me to Nova and we had a great conversation with Emiko about how her and her husband started out there. The epitome of hospitality really :) Although there's no food, they allow you to bring in outside food and they sell some drinking snacks! Nova also hosts special events depending on the season or occasions! Would really recommend you to check those out because the vendors are top notch! While at Nova, I definitely recommend getting the flight so you can try a bit of everything. Their menu is always evolving and every beer, sake, or wine is worth a try. My all time favorite is the Ginjo 7 White which is a refreshing blonde ale that hits the spot after a long day of work. If you want a delicious sake to try out Gravity is the way to go, but you can't go wrong with any of the other options either. Check out their IG page for any updates or seasonal drinks. If you get the chance, FORSURE order the Red Yuzu Sour while you can!

Yelp
Such an awesome place! Nova Brewing is tucked away in a quiet commercial plaza and it is truly a gem! They brew their own sake which I found was very unique. I originally heard of this place from a Facebook SGV group where someone posted that there would be a small popup event. That event featured a yakitori truck and some saki cocktail drinks. Unfortunately, I did not make the event but bookmarked the place for a future visit. When I arrived at the plaza where Nova Brewing was located, I was stopped at a gate and prompted to call a number and mention a secret password (not so secretive cause the password was posted on a sign). It was a bit silly but fun at the same time. When I got to Nova Brewing, it was a small, but quaint set up. I was sad to hear that their sake cocktail drinks were unique to that popup event, but proceeded to try other items. I ordered their tasting and tried each to their sake and some of their beer. There's a tasting menu as well. Overall, the experience was very fun! I would definitely return another time.

Yelp
I've been eyeing their unique, asian inspired beers after seeing them being sold at a nearby restaurant. The yuzu witbier and oolong island were the ones I most anticipated. Upon walking in, I didn't know they had a variety of sake to taste as well. My wife and opted to try all the sakes and then got a beer flight to taste the Ginjo collection. I appreciated how you can bring your own food here. We were able to bring our sushi dinner and enjoy delicious sakes and beers. I loved all their sakes, they were smooth, well balanced and really easy to drink (dangerous). My wife isn't a sake fan but she enjoyed Nova's and we were looking to buy a bottle back home. As for the beers, Oolong Island and Ginjo Blue were my favorites. I definitely enjoyed my time here and can't wait to be back.

Yelp
Awesome lowkey spot. Went to celebrate a birthday and it was completely empty. (Wish they had more business, but i enjoy the quietude) Homie working the bar was super chill and helpful. Explained all the different drinks and even let us request music!! Really enjoyable place!!!

Yelp
I came here for their Taste of Sake/Sake Kasu Food Popup Event (think I heard about it through the Facebook SGV Eats group before I saw it on Instagram). This brewery is in a little industrial park where it was a little hard to find parking because of the draw of the event. You have to call them to open the gate for entry and the plaza can be easy to miss just because there are so many places/signs in this business park. Not sure if it's normally as busy, but I'd definitely come back here. It's a delight that they have sake, beer, and wine...all of which I like to try. My boyfriend thought their sake was better than their beer and even bought a bottle to take home. I love supporting businesses that re-use/re-purpose what might go to waste and I was even more excited that we could ask to take home free containers of sake kasu (aka lees, the stuff left over when making alcohol). The sake ice cream was amazing. So was the manju. I ended up using the sake kasu at home to marinate salmon and potatoes, add into miso soup, and even make some toner/moisturizer for my skin. It was great and I haven't even used up the tub. Unfortunately, my photo skills are subpar, but I included photos of the marinated salmon I made (which tasted delicious and better than it looked).

Yelp
Amazing selection! It is smaller than expected, but still a good place to hang out. I wish it wasn't so far and so isolated from LA. My partner wanted to visit this place after trying out their beer that we bought from some restaurant all the way out in Culver City. On a whim we decided to drive all the way out to Covina to see what else they had, and guys first time we've ever had a PERFECT flight from anywhere. there wasn't a single drink we didnt like. it was $20 per flight, which include six drinks. You get to mix and match from their beer and sake selection. no matter what you end up getting, you will not be disappointed. If this place was closer to LA I'd be a regular!

Yelp
To access check their website. Located inside a gated business park you will need to pull up to the gate and call. Phone number is by the gate on a large sign. Nova Brewing was hosting a Japanese fall tasting that includes food vendors. Events from what I hear is best to check their instagram site. We happened across it by Kashiwa Ramen out of Costa Mesa a ramen house the family frequent and was at the event. Vendors that were also there included yakitori, shaved ice, seafood, and tacos. All were were Japanese themed. Nova Brewing is Japanese inspired. Sake is infused into their wines and beer as well as they make sake. Without the event it appears that they offer tasting and purchase of their line of spirits. While at the event we tried Ginza 7 black, Yuzu Witbier, and Oolong Isand beer along with red blend and red blend sweet wine. All were good and left with a 4 pack of Ginza white and Yuzu Witbier. We look forward to returning and will keep an eye out for up coming events.

Yelp
First time going to a Sake brewery and I was not disappointed. The owners were attentive and helpful. The Sake was great! It was a great learning experience as well. They had a lot of information on the brewing process and their ingredients.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Just a heads up make sure when you approach the gate to call the number and they will open it for you. As others have mentioned this brewery is pretty barebones however the service is fantastic and the brewtender was knowledgeable and helpful. I shared a flight with my date and tried several of the Ginjo beers as well as several of the sakes. All were smooth and palatable. Definitely check out this spot!

Yelp
A total sleeper must-try spot! I've been to a lot of breweries in east LA county/west San Bernardino and it was hard to find one that could compare to the insane kings in OC, but this place really has a uniquely strong identity without compromising on quality. I admit I'm a bit of a sucker for the fact they are an unapologetically Japanese craft brewery as well that makes FRIGGIN SAKE! SAKE! You know how hard it is to find a sake brewery in the U.S.?! American palettes grow up on beer and wine so they tend to lean more into those, but sake is slept on too much here. It often has a more ethanol note that turns people off, but good sake has such beautiful texture and nuance that is truly divine to experience. Like trying only bad wine and saying you don't like wine, you have to find good sake and give it a real chance! Okay okay I'll get off my soapbox and talk about this lovely spot. So the most important thing to know is that like most breweries it is hidden away, and for this one it's behind a gate, but next to the gate is a big sign saying 'NOVA' and a number to call for them to open the gate for you to come in and enter this realm of paradise where all your dreams come true (as long as your dreams are of craft sake, wine, Japanese beer, and killer vibes). Tucked away here is a beautiful place with lots of fun Japanese merch, sake glasses, traditional cups, paper lanterns, and Japanese-inspired craft beers, fantastic wines, and good sake! Not to mention the brewer and his wife seem like the coolest people ever really doing something special. And honestly in a world full of similar craft beers, this place really does churn out a lot of incredibly unique ones you owe it to yourself to try. I myself need to check them out at once of the innumerous events they take part in like washoku (japanese food) day, partnerships with great restaurants like Malibu Farms. Come along to Nova and learn why I rave so hard about this place!
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in the San Gabriel Valley, if not all of Los Angeles County. Also one of the most bare-bones breweries I've ever been to. It's almost as if they don't want to attract customers - their hours are short, they don't make it easy to find, nor get in the gate, and once you're in, it's a simple place, with a bar to order from (but not to sit at) and tables with seats too low. Empty pre-canning cans line the shelves and they have one snack - a Japanese rice cake. To say they concentrate on their beers and Sake above everything else is an understatement. But boy, does that concentrating pay off. Every sake is a gem (freshly brewed sake? Can you imagine?) and the beers, while limited in range, are delicious. Every single one of them. From the first to the last. Service is great once you're inside, and you can buy most of their beers and Sake's in cans and bottles. Worth the effort. Find it. You can do it. You won't be sorry.
google avatar

Yelp
Who doesn't love a Japanese beer can't wait to make my way through the beer list. Make sure to bring some snacks.

Yelp
Came here for a date night to try their sake. What a great idea to have a brewery that has not just beer but also wine and sake. We ordered a flight to taste the various libations and got a mix of all 4 kinds of sake and two beers. Flight is $15. Menu is clearly listed at the time of order and there is also detailed info on the various kinds of sake too. The strongest sake was the unfiltered one and most interesting as you can still taste the bits of rice used. My husband tried the beers and they were refreshing! It's a cool and comfortable space to hang out. We brought our dinner there. We had to call a few times to be let in at the gate so keep trying if you don't get an answer right away.
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
Cute little brewery with wine and sake options! Great ambiance with the lantern lights and wooden tables. $15 for a flight. Well worth it. The guy working (owner?) was nice. Super stoked this place is right down the street. We will be back.
google avatar

Mata C.

Yelp
This is the only sake brewery in Los Angeles. The sake was delicious and the sweet red wine was excellent. They also brew their own beer as well. Get the taster and select from there. If you are a plum wine fan, you must try Nova's! You have to drive up to the gate and call the number listed to gain access. This is a straight tasting room so no food, but I believe you can take your own food. It's worth a visit!

Yelp
Introduced to REV at a tasting festival and we decided to check out their location. At the festival my favorites were their Syrah wine and Chex-Mix beer. Got through the gate without an issue and found the place towards the back. We basically tried everything they had. They were out of most of the red wines. The whites were mostly sweet to semi-sweet, which is exactly what my wife likes. Yummy wines = Peach wine, Symphony, Rose of Zinfandel, White Sangria, Sparkling Rose Bubbly. We also tried the red sangria which was our least favorite. Beers: Heff and Lord Vader were okay. Did not care for Oh snap and Route 66 NEIPA. Favorites = CHEX-Mix & Martyr Series Chocoml Stout Wine Barrel Aged (You should come up with a clever name for this one..lol) There were some vendors outside in the back, we had some mulitas, which were yummy. The only negative was the music was way too loud (good music though) ...but, when you have to shout across the table while having your drinks..it's too loud. Not sure if that is a regular thing or not. I'd return..but, if the music is too loud again, I'll ask if it can be turned down.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool little place with interesting and unique sake and beer. Quiet and intimate. I got a bottle of sale to take home too! Make sure to read the sign next to the gate to call in

Yelp
Nova brewing is a great place to go as a small group or for a fun date night outing. They offer several craft beers, a small selection of wine and a small selection of sake. Each beverage is unique so I recommend purchasing the Flight of 6, they allow you to mix&match, beer/wine/sake. They also offer games. As I've been there several time now, there's no need for recommendations or information on the beverages, and I know we can all use our phones to do the research but it would be nice for first timers to get a little more detail on the beer/wine/sake when tasting. A little cheat sheet of information to read about the beverages or interaction from employees. Can't wait to return and try the Yu-zu IPA again :)
google avatar

Ivan T.

Yelp
First time here Glad I was able to try Nova Brewing out. Getting in was interesting. I'm glad I didn't need to call and someone let me in as they were leaving. It is a gated industrial park. We ordered a sampler. Price is expected. 1)Oolong Island was a nice fruity sour 2) Okinawa Smoke was delicious one of my favorites 3) Sweet Peach wine is exactly as it sounds? I liked it. 4)Ginjo 7 White was my favorite Rice Beer. I'm not a fan of the Owl brand. 5) The Vacuum Sake was delicious. 6) Ginjo 7 Black was interesting I preferred the White. We also tried out the Sweet Red Blend and bought a bottle. Stella who?

Yelp
Came here with some friends to try out a small business. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the staff are friendly and can give recommendations, and they sell snacks! The menu is a little small, but they had some really good options. Give this place a try if you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
I found this place because of groupon but a great find. I brought my good friend for her birthday celebration and we had an amazing time. I love that this place has wine tasting or beer tasting. The best is that you can do both and mix and match. The staff is knowledgeable and is perfect to give suggestions. The ambience and music is great backdrop to conversation between you and your friends. My only suggestion that they should have some option for food like a charcuterie board or maybe like soft pretzels. Something to nibble on even a trail mix or mix nuts can work. Mind you they did pop popcorn but I am not popcorn kinda guy. Just keep in mind that it is in a gated business center and is easily to pass it. You also have to call and let them know to open the gate for you to enter. Will definitely come again soon.

Yelp
Nova brewing used to be REV brewing. I'm pretty glad they took over. It's an asian owned AND woman owned business! James is the brewer and his wife does everything else. James is super knowledgeable and seems to have spent a lot of time learning in the states, AND learning in japan as well! I was lucky enough to tour the lab / brewery. It's kinda cool seeing the few pieces of lab equipment that he uses. The sake he makes is unpasteurized and he is also going for a more modern approach on sake. This allows for freshness and what i'm imagining to be more brighter flavors. I could be wrong as I'm not a sake expert. He did explain it all when I asked but I'm not a very good student either... lol. Point is, James is very passionate about what he does and I'm sure he'd love to answer all your questions regarding sake or brewing. Anyways I've tried their 2nd batch of gravity, 3rd batch of gravity clear and misty, vacuum misty, and doburoku. I liked the second batch of gravity better. It was slightly sweeter and I swear I tasted a hint of melon in it. The new batch has more pop to it. It's got more acidity and also feels like there's the slightest amount of carbonation that gives a nice mouthfeel. It's definitely different and has more character than the typical imported stuff that you can get in a market. the cloudy was more dry and had a umami flavor to it almost. The doburoku was also pretty acidic. I think both the gravity and doburoku make a refreshing drink. I'm excited to pair the vacuum with some cheeses! apparently it goes very well together. They also do beer! I think I tried their calrose lager / their ginjo 7 made with STEAMED RICE?! It tasted surprisingly normal like any other lager? Will have to revisit it. The Oolong Island was also a little too tea-ey for me I think? yet my cousin said that it was TOO SWEET? lol take that as you will. I did get to try a bit of their yuzu blueberry. It was SO GOOD. the yuzu flavor is light but definitely noticeable. It's not that sour at all and is refreshing. Can't wait to come back to have a pint of it.

Yelp
(Review based on 3.5 stars) REV Winery is located in a gated business plaza. To get the gate opened, you will need to call REV Winery when you are in front of the gate to get them to remotely open it for you. Then just drive towards the back to find them. To kick off my birthday month (my birthday is March 18 by the way), I came by this winery with my husband and our little girl dog (yes this place is dog friendly!) last Saturday, around 1:50 pm. We walked in and there was 1 employee behind the bar, she greeted us as we took a seat at one of the tables. I had a Groupon voucher for 2 flights of wine. But being that this place is also a brewery, we were also able to get beer too. For each flight, each comes with 4 tasters of your choice (with the exception of a few wines that are only sold by the glass). We ended up getting: My flight: Symphony- Of the tasters, I liked this the best. This is their moscato, dessert wine. It had a nice, crisp flavor. Syrah- Didn't like the taste of this. Sangria- I would hardly call this a sangria because it was red wine with chopped pieces of apple. A sangria is a drink where the fruit should be fermented and also mulled to bring out the added sweetness/ natural sugars from mother nature's candy. This wasn't it and found it to be disappointing. Blend- This wine didn't appeal to me. My husband's flight: Pineapple Sour Cider- My husband didn't like this drink and is lead to believe that he doesn't like sour beers. I didn't care for this one. Pretty B- My husband thought this was just okay, I didn't care for this one. Imperial Storm Trooper & Chocmil- Of the 4 he had, this and the Chocomil were his favorite. He is a dark beer drinker and thought these had flavor. Although he does like IPAs and such, he thought these were the best. Service was friendly but I just didn't really care for the tasters that we tried. I feel that with my rating of this place, 3.5 stars, it is purely subjective to my taste preferences. The vibe was friendly and laid back (what you would want in a winery and brewery), but the drinks just didn't appeal to me. But I hope that doesn't stop you from checking out this place because you may end up liking Rev's adult libations. By the way, you are welcomed to bring your own food. One Yelp member had suggested bringing in his own cheese can cracker plate. Such a good idea, I did the same. Although I did read that this place does get food trucks, there were none on our visit. But most likely because we were there so early. But in case there are no food trucks when you arrive, it is better to bring something to eat with your alcohol (so you don't get buzzed and/ or drunk too quickly). By the way, when you leave, the gate will automatically reopen on existing. So REV will not need to remotely open the gate for you when you drive away (drink responsibly and make sure there is a designated driver).

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing! Super cute and cozy ambience, perfect for a date or a group outing. They serve amazing drinks. Nova is the only sake brewery in LA! They currently have 4 unique and delicious types of sake. The nama nigori called Doburoku is literally amazing! Such a creamy and rich . Gravity is light and delicate with a fruity flavor.

Yelp
We stopped in last night with a Groupon for wine tasting. We've been here before to do the beer tasting and had a great time (see review under Rev Brewing Co.) For this tasting, you got to choose four 2.5 oz. selections from their three white wines (Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Symphony (a blend)), seven red wines (Pinot Noir, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Sarah, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, a Rev Blend, and a sangria, which is not on the menu). My wife liked the Mourvedre, I liked the Nebbiolo, and we both really liked the Sarah. Desiree was behind the bar, pouring, and she was really friendly and cool, taking the time to discuss their various wines, beers, and even some of the other local wineries and breweries. Since we were told during our beer tasting trip that they don't serve food (only chips, pretzels and jerky), we packed a nice little cheese/salami, olives and cracker spread and sat right at the bar and had a great time. They have several bar-height picnic style tables as well, so plenty of seating. The have an extensive selection of board and table-top games and quite a few patrons took advantage of those while enjoying their selections. We're super happy we found this little local brewery/winery and I'm sure it will become one of our regular stops.

Yelp
Small but very specific brewery I stumbled upon this when looking for a brewery in Covina....first off it's in a business complex with a gate I had to drive around and almost missed it at first. At first glance it's really small and the inside needs a lot of improvement it's not the most inviting place to have a drink. But I tried their Oolong and it's one of my favs I grabbed a Togo pack and will be back just for that beer. I hope they improve their interior this place has potential

Yelp
This is one of our favorite wine/beer tasting places in SoCal! There's nothing like the feeling that you're family as soon as you step through the door. The service here is always delightful, and the drinks are absolutely delicious! Their total commitment to brewing and making the finest beer and wines does not go unnoticed. You can taste the difference in their products. I've gotten a few different flights of various beers and wines, and I've never been disappointed! This is a really great hidden gem in Covina! Be sure to inquire about their Groupon deal, as they'll give you a great discount on beer and wine tasting. Can't wait to see you guys again soon!

Yelp
Awesome, and low-key place to have a glass or a pint. Friendly and laid back atmosphere. I love that they support local artist with a back alleyway show. I usually grab their "route 66" red ale, and their habanero IPA. Both refreshing and full of flavor.

Yelp
Came here with a few girlfriends for a wine tasting. The place was a bit hard to find. Once inside the place, it becomes a cute winery slash hang out spot. We each had a flight of wine tasting. There were a few other people there but it was never too loud. The service was ok. The wine was good. The one negative thing I remember we complained about was the lack of food or good snacks. I think we ended up buying chips and some other snack. Hopefully that has changed or changes soon! I will return with another group of friends to see what's changed in the last year since I've been there...

Yelp
This was my first visit to REV Winery but I loved it! It's an intimate place. It's perfect for hosting birthdays during the week. We came and celebrated a good friend's dirty 30 on a Thursday night and I want to say our party took over the winery with over 25 guests. I don't think it's very busy on weeknights considering we came on a Thursday night. BUT it makes celebrating or hosting birthdays even easier. A flight of wine was about $13 and charcuterie was $15. Pricing is reasonable and board games placed at the front of the winery was a nice touch. With rounds of 2 sets of Jengas and family style truth or dare UNO going; there was tons of fun and drunken laughter everywhere. It's a discreet location with private parking. The winery is gated and so is parking. When you arrive, It looks like you're entering a plaza of warehouses. REV winery's number is posted at the front gate. Call when you're there, and a staff member will open the gates for you to park and enter. Such a gem in the middle of nowhere.

Yelp
Ive been coming to rev for years, and just like many good wines, it gets better with age. I always enjoy the staff and great selections they have to offer. Also, there is always something going on at REV, sometimes food pairing, paint night, live music. I follow them on their instgram where they post all their events they hold. My favorite part about Rev is the people. Always meet some of the coolest local people in here. Its a very welcoming atmosphere, just like hanging out with close friends. Cheers REV.

Yelp
Came here for a Taste of Japan event. Place was popping with food vendors and DJ. The drinks were great. First brewery I've ever come across that makes beer, wine and sake. Linda at the bar treated us like royalty offering free samples and great service. Took home a 4 pack of beer as well. I'll be back.
