Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. You can walk around the farm and they set up tables outside for everyone to enjoy the beautiful location. You can really taste how fresh the food is, the salad, potatoes, lamb, and vegetables cooked in semolina were so yummy

It is quite a long and winding drive to get here from chania, but I think it’s worth it. Traditional farm to table style where you can see what you’re eating. They have the best goat and lamb that’s cooked in a stone oven. It preserves the natural taste and flavour of the meat without spices that overpower it. They also have the best crispy potatoes something about them was just not overly greasy and super earthy. The waiters there are very friendly and gave us potatoes on the house and chocolate cake on the house.

**An absolutely exceptional place!** Taverna Ntounias is a true gem — not only among tavernas in Crete but in all of Greece. The food is authentic, made from local ingredients, often straight from their own garden. Everything tastes homemade, prepared with great heart and passion. The atmosphere is unique — warm, family-like, and genuinely Cretan. The host is a wonderful person who radiates love for life, nature, and food. You can feel that everything here comes straight from the heart. I recommend trying everything that appears on the table — every dish tells a story and carries on generations of tradition. It’s the perfect place to slow down and feel the true spirit of Crete. I will definitely come back! ❤️🇬🇷

A hidden of beat gem in the hills of Chania, Crete. Stelios and crew prepare food to entice all who come. A true master of the clay pots and wooden fire. Everything is prepared in house and sourced from his own land. Even his meats are true Cretan animals with DNA records which is indigenous to this region.

The food is divine! The drive to get there takes you through lush and gorgeous mountains where you can see wild goats, olive trees, sage bushes and stunning landscape. Each turn is more breathtaking than the last. The restaurant is tucked in the mountains. The food is from the gardens and mountainside, located just steps from the restaurant. Food is slow cooked. We had lamb and goat baked in a traditional stone oven, and veggies cooked over wood fires. The meat fell off the bones—it was perfection. The veggie dishes were unique and delicious. We had cauliflower and broccoli with crushed walnuts, potatoes with chestnuts, and a fresh veggie salad from their garden, topped with pomegranate and a fresh yogurt/creamy… it all was delicious. We ordered small plates of all the dishes so we could try everything. The homemade bread was hearty, and the olive oil bursts with flavor. And, they make their own wine from two local grapes. We ended the perfect meal with homemade chocolate and carob cake and some Crete mountain tea. The host/chef is incredibly warm and welcoming. They made us feel like we had returned home after a very long time away. ❤️

I was blessed with the experience of stumbling across this Cretan institution by accident. As a solo dinner I could not have been treated with more warmth and hospitality. I was aware of the reputation and I could not have been more impressed. This is a superb Cretan offering that comes from the heart with passion. Service was excellent, the food was full of authentic flavours. Easy going vibe and excellent interesting wine. I am astounded by any negative reviews. Well done Stavro and your staff, it was such a pleasure to dine with you. Thank you
