The food is divine! The drive to get there takes you through lush and gorgeous mountains where you can see wild goats, olive trees, sage bushes and stunning landscape. Each turn is more breathtaking than the last. The restaurant is tucked in the mountains. The food is from the gardens and mountainside, located just steps from the restaurant. Food is slow cooked. We had lamb and goat baked in a traditional stone oven, and veggies cooked over wood fires.
The meat fell off the bones—it was perfection.
The veggie dishes were unique and delicious. We had cauliflower and broccoli with crushed walnuts, potatoes with chestnuts, and a fresh veggie salad from their garden, topped with pomegranate and a fresh yogurt/creamy… it all was delicious. We ordered small plates of all the dishes so we could try everything.
The homemade bread was hearty, and the olive oil bursts with flavor. And, they make their own wine from two local grapes. We ended the perfect meal with homemade chocolate and carob cake and some Crete mountain tea.
The host/chef is incredibly warm and welcoming. They made us feel like we had returned home after a very long time away. ❤️
