Solid 4 star. It was cramped with 5 employees. Not a sit down. It's a hole in the wall shop. I ordered the pork with pickle veggies. It's a classic item. I liked it but was not a fan of mayonnaise. There was mayonnaise in the middle. Before buying, ask if they use any sauces. If I knew there was mayonnaise I would tell them to leave it out. Then the rice roll will be good.

Ordered the braised pork with preserved vegetable rice roll! Really delicious and nice and hot. Also free guava candy <3

Then I had to reorder again and do this whole refund process because she got the order wrong. She was rolling her eyes and giving an unpleasant attitude. When I got my order she made all my rice rolls spicy when I never mentioned spicy. Rice rolls were okay, with minimal fillings with the majority being rice. It could be better. Extremely disappointed and annoyed with the customer service.

My husband absolutely loves this place. The rice rolls are really different and very simple. One roll can fill you up really good. Don't order their drinks though. Didn't have any good experience with their drinks.

A great place to grab a snack 👍. Their purple rice rolls are pretty good. I ordered takeout from them and they were pretty quick to prepare my order. I got their special rice roll with chicken added to it. The rice roll itself contains a good amount of things in it and you choose what kind of sauce you want in it. They have the choices of mayo, spicy mayo, garlic? And some other sauce choices too. To be honest, I didn't really pay attention to what was actually I'm the rice roll when I was eating it because the spicy mayo made everything kind of ... blend together? Lol 😅 I just know it tasted good so yeaa... hehe I also got their peanut and walnut hot drink (with red beans added as a topping). It wasn't bad, not too sweet but I didn't really taste much of the walnut... 🤔. Overall, I would definitely come again to try their other ricerolls like their Eel one, their spicy Squid one and the spicy beef ones too.

**Important, they take only cash here.** It's a good place for a snack if you're in need of one. The location is small and cramped, with about five people working furiously behind the counter, moving product. The cashier also helps with cooking, so it can look pretty hectic. The front area is able to fit maybe eight people, squished elbow to elbow, and the menu options are displayed on boards above the counter. They also have special items on smaller boards for things like healthy drinks and seasonal specials. There is no air condition, so it is rather sweltering in the summer to order in person. The menu is pretty exhaustive, with many options of meats and vegetables you would want on a rice roll. Their rice rolls come with nori, sort of like a futomaki, but with cooked fillings. They have some interesting options like crab salad and duck. For drinks, they have fruit teas, milk caps, and bubble tea, in addition to healthy options like black tea or traditional Chinese brews (like a pumpkin option). I wanted to just try something so I got the black pepper beef roll. The wait time was okay. Service is barebones and quick to just take your order and then turn to work on something else in a flurry of activity. They crank out orders sometimes in piecemeal, so you need to be aware of what you got and check your receipt. My wait time was not that bad, but it felt longer than I expected. I saw that they had pre-made items ready for stuffing, so I wondered why it took as long as it did. When I got my item and ate it outside, I saw that it was more than just beef, which might explain the wait time? The roll comes with sticky purple rice, which was made to a very good consistency, being softer but chewy. The nori was completely soft by now. The black pepper flavor was not fragrant but you can taste it at least. There were also some green onions, lettuce, and a little bit of pickled vegetable. Overall, it was filling enough, but the flavor was very lacking. Very little of the beef had any beefy flavor due to there being more vegetables, and the black pepper was also very weak. The roll itself was bursting with rice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It was a bit messy, but they gave plenty of napkins. Overall, it's not a bad joint to grab a small bite to eat, though it is probably filling enough as a meal for some.

Great hole in the wall located near 8th avenue. Highly recommend ordering in advance and picking up as parking is your typical street parking experience. Delicious food, great value for your money, friendly and efficient staff. I’ve already had food from here more than 5 times and I’d still continue to return. It’s so healthy and filling. CASH ONLY.

I've tried Nuan Xin Rice Roll once before, via Uber Eats delivery, and didn't like it, but my dad really enjoys their rice rolls. He's tried their Beef and Eel Rice Rolls from the Eldridge Street, Chinatown location, and loves the eel one in particular. Since my sister and I were in the area, we decided to stop by and buy an Eel Rice Roll home for him, which he completely devoured. Their rice rolls are huge, hefty, and packed with ingredients-- just one is incredibly filling, so you definitely get the best bang for your buck. The shop's interior is small and dingy, and the ambiance is nothing to speak of; I haven't seen anyone eat there, but it works for a quick grab-and-go.

I am a big fan of this place because I love the ice rice here (冰饭). It is a sweet, dessert with rice and different toppings like boba, jelly, watermelon, peanuts and more. It is very popular in Asia. It is super refreshing in the summer to try and this is one place that does it well and has reasonable prices. I have been here so many times and still would go back. The fan tuan is also very good. Just having one is already very filling. The service is super fast and convenient.

Came here on a weekend afternoon, and it wasn't busy. I ordered the chicken rice roll, and it was ready really fast, so practically no wait time. In the chicken roll there is chicken, pork floss, and lettuce. I thought it tasted great, right proportions of everything, definitely a great filling snack and worth the price!

Ordered delivery for breakfast. Chicken one wasn't that good. Eel one was the best in my opinion. Price was okay.

Pretty decent rice rolls! For the price and the amount of food (mainly rice) but considerable amount of filling, it makes a good snack or a meal. Got to try the chicken, crabmeat and shrimp rice rolls and all of them were pretty tasty. I think one of the fillings they use is preserved daikon or carrots- either way, I think its this that makes the roll stand out, otherwise I can see how it can be bland without using additional sauces. Will be back to try other rolls!

Note this 5 star rating is solely for their specialty, the fan tuan (rice roll). I didn't try any of their drinks, but I reckon there are many other drink shops in the area which are probably better for your Asian drink fix. I got the chicken rice roll which was a great tasty snack! As a lover of onigiri, kimbaps, and Taiwanese food, the purple rice roll really hit the spot for me. The chicken, mayo, lettuce and purple rice made the perfect savory combo. One may not be enough for a dinner - but it is the perfect size for a delicious snack!

After seeing this chain pop up in my favorite foodtubers' videos, this store has been on my radar for a while now. Alas, I had a chance to visit. The store was small, more of an order-and-go. The staff practiced COVID-19 protocols, and were super respectful! I ordered a Duck Rice Roll ($4.50). Food aside, the presentation was so neat! The brown bag and wrapper covering the food were both made of such sturdy material. Even the rice roll was tucked neatly, with no fuss or messiness upon unraveling. It was also quite big so you know just one is going to be filling. The first couple bites, it tasted no different from a sushi burrito. But I soon started to taste the subtle sweetness of the purple sticky rice. Inside had cabbage, duck pieces (including skin), pickled veggies, and shredded pork jerky. I never had such a concoction before! While it tasted alright at first, the mayo AND sticky rice became too heavy for me, that I had trouble finishing. I can't imagine this is usually someone's breakfast in Taiwan as I could barely finish one for lunch. This was sadly not for me.

My office has ordered from this restaurant a couple of times and both times even though I desperately wanted to like them, both times have been pretty mediocre to average unfortunately. What I have tried: --WATERMELON JUICE WUTH CREAM TOPPING: Light watermelon juice with a delicious cream topping. The juice is not too sweet which is nice. As for the rice rolls the fillings are pretty good; however, the ratio of the rice and filling is pretty disappointing. There needs to be more filling than what you are given. Additionally, for the fillings make sure you add sauce as well - because that helps to flavor the rice better and helps improve the ratio of rice to toppings. I have tried the braised pork with preserved veggies, eel and the black pepper beef rice rolls. The braised pork one is my favorite one. The fatty pieces of pork really added a nice texture in conjunction with the crunchy veggies. The eel could have used slightly more flavor and was really not that much for a roll. I did really like the black pepper flavor as well but again was not enough filling. All of the rice rolls also come with lettuce and Mayo which though not traditional is a nice addition to the fillings. All in all, a fairly average non traditional rice roll store but with some yummy juices

I use to go to this chain/franchise on 51st Street, but that one closed down. This chain has been popping up everywhere, but they keep closing locations and opening up trying to find the perfect spot to open, so it's getting confusing and hard to keep up with. The one on 97 Elizabeth Street in Chinatown recently closed, but they have one near that location at 67 Eldridge. I'm glad they at least kept this location open on 8th Avenue since they closed the one on 51st Street. The service is good, no complaints. It's a quick order-and-go type of place. Overall, Nuan Xin Rice Roll is a great, grab-and-go, quick snack type of place. I've never had an issue with their food and it has always been delicious and up to par. I think, the rice roll idea is pretty unique and fun, but that's pretty much the only thing I'd purchase here. There are too many drink options in the area competing.

It was a bad mix. Yes, it's super convenient to get and hold since it doesn't fall apart. I love the prices and packaging but I won't be coming here again. Going into this I thought it would be reminiscent of a fan tuan from Taiwan but it wasn't. The flavors just didn't go well together. The bland rice flavor overrode what little flavor from the pork floss and duck I could get. There was also unnecessary sauce in it (the ones from Taiwan don't have any sauce on theirs). I'm not a mayo person and it tasted like mayo so I literally just threw it back up. Mind you, the duck rice roll is one of their popular ones. The same can be said about the cheesy crab meat rice roll. The cheese was really weird. It was like watery cheese- not even melted cheese. With that thought in mind, it made me not want to eat it.

I really wanted to like this place. I love rice roll. I lived in Taiwan for half a year, and it's one of my favorite snack. Their twist on rice roll just didn't work for me. The seaweed worked and the purple rice worked. But the lettuce and salad dressing just didn't mixed well with rice roll. I might come again and try other items that didn't involve salad dressing.

Ordered a duck rice roll for an afternoon snack and realized that it was actually really filling and I wasnt able to eat dinner afterwards! The rice roll is made of purple rice so it's really healthy and inside theres a few pieces of marinated duck and some dry snacky minced pork. The overall flavor is definitely not bad and for the size it offers ( I feel like it can fill a whole bowl of rice!), $4 is worth it! Would be back again!

Prices are good I had the shrimp roll which was tasty but minimal shrimp filling . I also tried the Cheesy crab that was not good at all . The Pasion fruit juice was delish , a tad sweet but I added some water For the price per roll in NY Its good but could give more filling in the rolls

This is a rice roll spot in Brooklyn's Chinatown. There's another location about 7-8 blocks down, on the same avenue. This spot on 59th street is tiny! For such a small operation, they have a decent sized menu with plenty of fillings for their rice rolls, as well as, a good sized drink menu. I ordered a rice roll with duck and a purple rice milk tea drink. Rice roll was reasonably priced and was a good size too. I really liked the duck meat as a filling; I thought it was moist and quite tasty. Purple rice had a nice flavor and texture as well! That purple rice milk tea was pretty bland. Because the drink was cold, the purple rice kernels was quite hard and crunchy. The milk tea was quite watered down and tasteless. As I sat inside, I noticed most people would call ahead, place their order and bounce. Overall, the rice roll was definitely yummy and worth trying. I just wish they'd open up a location in Flushing. They would be pretty busy there I'm sure.

Regular spot for me. Usually get the beef rice roll without radish and pork floss. Spicy mayo is also a free and tasty alternative to regular mayo. It cost about $5 (4.90 i think) for one. I tried the others, eel, duck, chicken, and pork. Personally, the beef and duck seem the healthiest to me, the favors seem most natural. The beef is very tender and the duck is soft and boneless which is a first for me. All the ingredients inside seem to work well together but the radish is a bit sour for me but still okay with it included. Pork floss is pretty good but I don't like the MSG. Black peppered option cost a bit more but doesn't taste as natural for me. The food is a quick, simple but tasty meal. No mess and not heavy. I particularly like the purple rice, it's a bit crunchy and adds texture. Rice rolls to me are quite similar to sushi hand rolls with more rice and structure. Give this a try, it is be a healthier fast food alternative.

PRO TIP: Go here early in the morning on a weekday (they open around 7:30 AM) and there will be no line, no wait, and everything is super fresh. The rice rolls are really amazing and unique -- the purple rice is delicious, and they use so many veggies, even in their meatier options -- but my actual favorite thing here is their milk tea! Hot or cold, it's smooth, strong, and not too sweet. My go-to breakfast order here is the chicken rice roll with a hot milk tea.

after i tried this place 2 summers ago, i found myself craving their rice rolls way too often. i love how they use purple rice, and i've never been disappointed with any of my orders from here. -they're available for delivery on grubhub and seamless. -they accept both cash and card. -the service here isn't the best. you're not going to get the best treatment from the workers, but it's no big deal. -there is no outdoor seating. -i waited around less than 10 minutes for my food after ordering. 8/28/20 -eel rice roll: the inside of this seaweed wrap comes with purple rice, grilled eel, lettuce, cucumber, crispy radish, crispy fried dough, pork floss, and their special sauce. i really think that their special sauce is what makes their rice rolls taste so good, because the creaminess really makes each bite so satisfying. the crunchiness from the other vegetables and add-ins have a great texture as well. the grilled eel tasted just like the ones in eel sushi rolls, and had such a good flavor. while i do think that they could've added more eel, i was just glad that they didn't stuff this with too much rice. their rice rolls are pretty small and not filling enough for a full meal usually. this rice roll is more expensive than their other ones, since it was $6; but, i still thought that it was worth the price. (4.5/5) overall, i probably would've given this place 4.5 stars if i could. i don't know any other places besides nuan xin that execute rice rolls this well, and i can definitely see myself coming back in the future. my favorites from this place that i would recommend you must try are the eel rice roll or chicken rice roll.

If you had no idea what a fan tuan is, then you're in good company. It's a Taiwanese food item, consisting of purple sticky rice with meat/protein filling, wrapped with seaweed. Kind of like a sushi burrito. They're pretty filling due to all the rice, so a full one is probably enough if you're not *too* hungry. For two people, we split the eel, duck, and beef rolls. The eel was the best of the three. The duck was just standard Chinese BBQ duck. And the beef was meh, and meat distribution was spotty. Oh also, if you're confused about the address, it's actually located on the side street and not on 8th ave.

I had a very, very small lunch at work and by the time I got home, I was absolutely starving. I really wanted a snack - but wasn't too interested in the options on the Avenue. I remembered finding this place on Yelp a while ago and thought hey, why not give them a try. Staff here were really nice and helpful. I ordered the Eel Rice Roll without the pork floss / meat floss, because I'm really not a fan of them. My roll came out quick and it was super hot and fresh. It's also really, really big for the price. For something that's under $5, it was really filling and such a good deal. I love the purple sticky rice! I'm definitely excited to come back and try out the other rolls.

Great choice for a quick snack. Small walkin place with 3 stool chairs. Decided to stay in to eat since no one else was in the store. Makes no difference to stay or to go. They two rolls were just handed to us barely. No trays or napkins were given. All self serve. They put it in a bag if its to go. We ordered the special roll which was nothing special but this interesting crunchy texture that we can't figure out what is was made us wanting more of it. The duck roll was very tasty. Lots of duck meat. The eel roll was good but more on the sweet side. All the rolls were constructed equally amount of dressing and their ingredients. Definitely go back again to try their other rolls.

Purple sticky rice roll is very delicious! I got the pork (which is pork belly) and they put good amount of pork and it was only $3.5. It is more of a snack for one rice roll and can be addicting. Will be coming back -no tax -no seat at this place

I didn't mind it, just surprised. Stopped by to get a Mango Tea - refreshing, tasty, and a large is a true large! The only thing is that the staff's system of taking orders, making orders, and giving the orders out was inefficient. And they had five people working in a small area! Wish there was more room to sit and wait but other than that, I'd love to come back to try their rice balls!

We stopped by this place recently and it was beyond disgusting. While waiting in line I noticed the guy taking orders touching his nose and face multiple times and then proceeding to wrap people's orders. There was also a kid playing with a toy behind the counter, where the food was being prepared. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, but considering the lack of hygiene going on behind the counter, this could only make things worse. By the time I reached the front of the line, I was so disgusted, I decided to only order drinks, which are made in a different section. My daughter ordered the passion fruit tea, which was ok, but much sweeter and not as good as ones we've had elsewhere. I ordered a honeydew slush. It was a boiling hot day and I desperately wanted something cold to drink. The slush turned out not to be a slush at all. It was some odd blend that tasted lumpy, curdled and simply weird. Worst part was that it wasn't cold. There are great bubble tea places all over, I was sad to have wasted my money here.

My friends were in search of Taiwanese style rice rolls. We squeezed 6 adults and 2 babies into a van and trekked into Brooklyn from queens just to try it. Was it worth the hour drive? No, but I still scarfed them rolls down like a starving orphan child. I tried the duck and braised pork with pickled vegetables. Both were delicious and satisfying. There's nothing complex about it. It's seaweed wrapped rice with lettuce, pork floss, cruller, and your chosen protein. My friends who had it in Taiwan said it wasn't quite authentic. These had mayonnaise. Some friends liked the addition, and other didn't. I didn't mind it and I'm sure you can request to leave it out. The other complaint was it was too heavy on the rice and not enough filling. I still enjoyed it and it's convenient for an on the go snack.

I ordered from the one located in Chinatown yesterday, service was horrible. The cashier had an attitude. I asked the cashier the sweetness of the yum drink. She nodded her head instead of answering my question. I asked again. She nodded again. I thought she didn't hear my question so I asked the third time. She said you can adjust the sweetness in a rising tone, and rolled her eyes. B*t you can answer my question at the first time. I should walk away at this moment. I went I'll a get the whole grains drink. (I ordered this drink at the Brooklyn location, I felt it would be safe to order). When I drank it at home. It tasted horrible. She made an unsweetened yum drink. Excuse me, I ordered the whole grains drink and I didn't order zero sweetness.It turned out really bad. The yum drink tasted like made of a thousand years old yum. Horrible service and bad taste. The cashier does not listen! DO NOT Recommend! The stores in Brooklyn and Chinatown are the same owner, so I post the review here. 在唐人街那家前台服务很差！昨天在唐人街那家点，问前台山药红枣甜度怎么样，就点头不回答我。我问了第三次才很不耐烦的说甜度可以调整。这三八前台第一次就能回答的问题非要人问三次。这家店是请了哑巴前台还是脑残前台？问题都不会好好回答。有时间在那阴阳怪气饮料早就可以点好。我说那我点五谷杂粮。这个点过知道什么味道。最后这傻B前台给我做了一杯无甜度的山药红枣。没甜度的山药这恶心程度可以自行想象。请这样不负责的前台老板不怕砸了招牌吗？这傻B前台上班不带脑子。服务行业回答几个问题就不耐烦可能嫌钱太好赚了吧。不推荐！垃圾前台，饮料也做的超难喝。

Good rolls BUT very careless; I ordered beef and kimchi rolls but they labeled wrong and my brother mistook the kimchi one as beef because of the label! He can't take spicy food!

The rice balls are good, the drinks are not bad, do avoid the cheese/salted cream topping though, as their execution of it is weaker than Moge Tee and Mi Tea in flushing. One thing to note is that they offer this rare Fujianese dessert called "Ice Rice". It's basically a quart of sweet soup, with a big block of ice on the bottom, lined with red beans, purple rice, jelly, boba, topped with peanuts and watermelon cubes on top. It's a bit pricey at $5.5 but it is worth it. Weird but worth it.

When you can't find onigiri near, besides Formosa Cafe, this is the place you'd want to go for rice rolls. Not rice noodle but like a rice burrito. There are less than 10 options of fillings and they use purple rice instead of regular white rice. Prices are from $2.95 to $3.95 for the rice rolls. They also have a sweet one, which sounds interesting, and they have drinks so if you need to be hydrated, grab a drink from here. Highly recommend the eel rice roll. Although I haven't tried it myself, it seems to be very popular.

Oh this new spot is delicious. I decided to pick up some rice rolls for a quick bite yesterday - bacon, duck & eel. I love the rice they use, it certainly compliments the meat and the sauces perfectly wrapped in nori. The mango fresh fruit tea with jelly was average however there were tiny pieces of mango inside my tea, which was a fruity touch! I also added lychee jelly but was given a regular straw that was too small and impossible to consume the jelly with the tea together. My only other complaint is the lid they used wasn't very sturdy on the cup. The lid on my white gourd milk loosens and fell off, which caused a minor spillage. The lid wouldn't fasten back onto the cup either. Service and staff are friendly but English isn't their strong suit. They mostly speak mandarin. Luckily there was a guy there who was able to assist me when I had a couple of questions in English. Service was also very quick, the guy making the rolls did a speedy job!

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Normally don't write reviews but their attitude and customer service is terrible. They had a promotion,but I was confused so I went to ask ONE question and she started giving me attitude. It was a buy one get second on half price so I order two and she charged me for the full price of two rice rolls. They were trying to trick me because I'm a younger, she didn't even say sorry. They knew it was a promotion. My mom just asked them few minutes ago. So when I asked because I knew it was wrong she was like "oh yea" they knew but we're trying to tricking me. But that's not all, when I got my order back she literally threw it at me . They weren't just rude to me but to other customer before me . Very dissatisfied and disappointed. With that attitude I'm never going back. Just a suggestion if you do order something check your receipt so you don't get tricked.

Saw an ad, came to try it, and have been here 3x in one week. I'm a fan of rice and burritos so a frequent eater of Chipotle and sushi handrolls. To that effect, this place hits the spot when you want a medium sized "snack" but it can get boring as their menu selection is small and the fillings are the same. Rolls are the size of the typical soda can. Eat it in the paper wrap or it will fall apart as the seaweed can barely contain all the filling. It's big enough to satisfy medium hunger but not as a complete meal. Tried the Pork, Bacon, and Beef rolls. All come with (ordered by how much is in it): -Healthy purple rice with beans -Shredded lettuce -Diced yellow radish (like the Korean kind) -Shredded fried dough sticks (what comes with congee) -Meat -Mayo like sauce (probably Japanese Mayo) Place is very small, couple stools, and by my third visit...has air conditioning. Workers are nice, primarily speak mandarin but they get English if you talk slower, and food comes out within 5 mins despite a 4+ person wait. Drink selection is bare basic teas. Probably better elsewhere. I might try their soy milk one day if it's not just a prepackaged bottle. Place has potential and decent amount of people trying it. Good idea compared to BBQ snack foods in the local area. I'd recommend offering a little more variety to menu. Spicy mayo, sushi/sticky/other types of rice, imitation crabmeat, shrimp, etc...just so it's not same filling for everything. Worth a try, people!

Horrendous service, placed an order with them through Uber Eats and they cancelled it without a notice. Ended up waiting over an hour and had no idea that it was even cancelled.

The rice rolls aren't bad because it's very stuffing. It's what the pictures show. But it's mainly rice more than the key meat/filling ingredients that you'd want. They make it on the spot aa you order so you can watch them make it. I liked the chicken and I have tried the bacon and recommend the chicken as there's more meat in it. They also added this thing to give it a crunch so it might not be gluten-free if you do not eat gluten. I would recommend trying it since's it's like under $4 for one and you have a selection to choose from. One roll and a half was filling for me to feel satisfied. They have two locations on 8th Avenue and this location is hidden on the corner of the block. They also have a small bar counter to sit by the window aa you wait and have a selection of drinks too

Only had the chance to try their drinks and I think it's pretty good. Doesn't taste powdery at all. I highly recommend white gourd green tea although their fresh fruit teas are also pretty good especially the kiwi one. Their drinks aren't all that sweet too. Will definitely come back!

The service was definitely great! As far as the "rice balls" go, they are not really rice balls, more like a sushi burrito. My personal favorite was the eel one, it has a combination of pretty much everything. The rice balls are made from purple rice so it makes me feel healthier eating it. Size wise, they are not HUGE. I was able to eat a whole thing without feeling stuffed. And my friend had to eat two to feel full.

Its always a favor spot for kids, they love the roll very much. But currently the roll up ugly and taste no good. Will try one more time, since its always easy and quick.

Amazing rice rolls, freshly made when ordered and with your desired ingredients! What more can you ask for! My favorite was the braised pork and preserved vegetable, which was delicious from first bite to last. Definitely will be back to try the beef and special roll.

Small Joint, slower service so order ahead or prepare to wait about 10-15 minutes. Great price and great portions! I ordered a duck roll and a special roll. Unfortunately, I couldn't taste what was inside the special roll but it was good. I still prefer the duck more though. I saw some reviews saying that one roll didn't fill them up that's why I ordered two, however I think two seems to be a little too much. Overall, I like the concept and I will come back!!

It's a hidden place. Last time I was looking for it; I did not notice it when I walked by. It's small and just not "eye-catching". The food itself, I'd say it's good. BTW, the one I got was the eel one. Haven't tried others yet, but are willing to do so in the future.

The food was warm and fresh. Well worth the wait. Eel and duck roll was great. Will be ordering more from them.

This is the rice ball I bought at 51st. There are very few vegetables in the rice ball and it is not delicious. However, I still like the 59st rice ball.
