Nuance Chocolate

We visited Nuance Chocolate for the first time and had a great experience. The staff was helpful and attentive, which made for a welcoming visit. We tried two truffles—Pistachio & Coconut and Peanut Butter. While we realized we’re just not truffle people, they seemed very high quality and would likely be a hit for those who are! We also sampled two drinks: the French Canadian, which we loved. At $8, it’s definitely a splurge, but we thought it was well worth it. The Iced Theobrew was good, but not something we’d personally reorder. All in all, a unique and enjoyable chocolate experience!

Steve helped us out and everything was great!! We felt very welcome and taken care of.. He was able to speak fluent polish too! The chocolate was excellent, we really loved each truffle we had and the chocolate bars were really great. This was a great pit stop while walking around old town!

Everything is great at this shop, from presentation and variety to knowledge and service. In my opinion the atmosphere subtly and kindly displays "if you think you understand chocate, there is more to learn". They make a wonderful array of single origin bars, and many flavored truffles as well as sipping chocolate and more. Plus inside seating in you want to stay a while. Thankful they are in existence as it adds a special artisan foodie touch to old town, besides the craft coffee roasters, bakery, brews and the kitchen store. Glad to be able to support small / local business. I look forward to my next visit in town so I can linger and try the brewing cacao.

Yes, it is a little pricey compared to other chocolates. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I ate raspberry chocolate and it was so fresh and yummy. My daughter finished all the chocolate by herself so I was only able to test the raspberry one. We also got chocolate coffee to drink and I enjoyed it. I haven’t tested the Dutch cocoa that I got, but I won’t be shocking if that one tastes good in my brownies!

Tyler was very welcoming and eager to make sure his customers got what they wanted. We had the French hot chocolate and it was delicious. So many truffle flavors to choose from! Great fun.

Chocolate lovers, this is a must! Nuance is such a gem in FoCo! Go for the chocolate tasting or just for a truffle. It will not disappoint.

Dang! Was so disappointed when I came in over the weekend. I use to live in FC and visited for the day. Brought a friend and excited to show her what use to be my favorite chocolate shop. One particular staff member ruined the visit. She was rude, rolled her eyes….and when she gave us the truffle chocolate box - it completely fell apart. Super disappointed and won’t be back. Too may other chocolate shops as options!

Each time we visit Fort Collins, we make it a point to enjoy Nuanced Chocolate. The amazing chocolate selection is almost overwhelming but the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have an indoor seating area, but it has been closed for several years. Unfortunately, you cannot enjoy your chocolate in their air-conditioned facility. That aside, we will continue to enjoy their chocolate with each visit to Fort Collins.

This place is my guilty pleasure . The milk chocolate with nibs and the seasonal buttermilk spiced are my favorites. My only wish is that buttermilk spiced was available year round...truly the best!

Maybe my expectations were too high but for $4.95 a truffle we were not impressed. We ordered two peppermint truffles and neither of us could taste the peppermint flavor. We also ordered a bourbon cream and their fall special- both of which were much better than the peppermint ones. The quality of the chocolate was high but for the price we did not feel like we got our money's worth.

This place is amazing, they're single origin Chocolate is the best chocolate I've ever had in my entire life. Been coming here for years.

Well to be honest I don't remember exactly what flavored of truffles I picked here to eat. But I do know out of the three that I picked they were all top notch, smooth, elegant and exquisite. I ducked in here during the ebbing days of summer and after making my purchase I realized that they weren't allowing customers to eat or drink inside. This was due to a covid precaution. So I ate outside at the table they had out there. Now I know chocolate truffles and summer heat don't mix so I made haste... but not too much haste in enjoying my truffles out in the warm weather. Such a wonderful chocolate shop and unfortunately I can't recall each specific flavor of the three truffles that I purchased but it really doesn't matter because this business is solid across the board on making quality chocolates and you literally can't go wrong with anything that you pick here.

Dude, this place is amazing. The dude serving us was already on point with a lot of knowledge of the place and what they do. He broke down a lot of the fact they do local colleborations and and teams. First off, we got a truffle and it was beyond amazing. Rich, dark chocolate ball of orgasmic flavor. We decided to pick up a few bars that use spirits with its flavor. The cherry whiskey was probably the best bar we got. Only real probalem is their prices, they are up there. Worth it if you want to buy something that literally tastes extravagant, but your day-to-day rewarss to yourself... Not ideal.

Service felt strangely uptight and not warm or welcoming - drinks tasted very weak and less than hoped for ....bummer

Oh Nuance...where to begin! This spot has me writing love letters in my head. I came for the rich warm and delicious sipping chocolate and ended up trying the French Style Hot Chocolate. There is currently no indoor seating available and masks are encouraged so we got out cocoa to go this time around. We tried the spiced hot chocolate option and it was perfect to hold onto and sip as we walked around Old Town. When they do have indoor seating available, Nuance offers chocolate flights that are to die for and let you taste a variety of their wonderful small-batch chocolates. Everyone working is knowledgeable and friendly and service is quick. Looking forward to the return of flights but am more than happy to stop by for chocolates to go in the meantime!

Wonderful local chocolate shop. The employee helping me was very informative, although I couldn't register everything she said because I was in the middle of a chocolate frenzy. This is high quality chocolate and you can choose from dark or milk. I opted for the dark chocolate sea salt and treated myself to a dark hazelnut chocolate. All so decadent! They even offer vegan options here. Every chocolate lovers dream! There is seating and beverages here as well.

Nuance has a delicious drinking chocolate. It's smooth and rich and one of the best I've ever had. When we were there they were not serving a flight. I wish they were because it would have been fun to compare the offerings. We bought a number of bars through the spectrum of dark chocolate. They were delicious. Their bars are not perfectly smooth with a slight amount of grit to them. Their location is very nice, walking distance to a lot of interesting shops and restaurants.

Bad experience, The cocoa drink is so bland! And the young woman who helped us was not friendly, controlling and wouldn't let us order drinks first... so we got the truffles, bullshit truffles, did not taste good. They make a big deal about their chocolate and how it's all made in town but it's not worth all that effort if it's still bad. Don't buy into this crap.

Talk about scrumptious, try these homemade truffles. If you're in Fort Collins, you have got to treat yourself. These truffles are the bomb! Rich and smooth, decadent and oh so velvety very satisfying. They're a bit pricey, but they are so worth every dollar to savor every bite.

There is a lot to learn about Nuance Chocolate. Def include them on your walking tour of Old Town FoCo. The single source chocolate bars offer a unique opportunity to taste how geography and terra affect the flavor. Cacao beans are sourced from places such as Bolivia, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Chocolate has 600 different flavor compounds! A kind and knowledgeable person will tell you about the sources and the process. Stop in and treat yo-self!

Maybe my expectations were too high? The presentation and aroma in the shop were both amazing, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The chocolate, however, was terribly disappointing. Almost $5 per truffle and they didn't taste much like the flavor they purported to be. And the texture was too dense and chewy. I can't recommend and I don't plan to go back.

These chocolates are amazing. I've been here twice so far and it's always super fun. The staff are very knowledgeable friendly and helpful. The chocolate is delicious. So far we've tried the dark milk chocolate, dark milk chocolate truffle and the dark chocolate pecan burboun flavor truffles. So good! You can tell they are super high quality. The ambiance is super cute inside too.

Great chocolate, but their seating is constantly closed with stuff piled all over them. Only go here to grab stuff quickly to go.

On a grand tour of Wyoming and Colorado chocolatiers, Nuance was far and away the highest quality and tastiest maker of my most favorite of foods. Where the vast majority of these shops simply make their chocolates in house (if that!), Nuance crafts their own bean to bar chocolate, then uses that same chocolate to create giant and absolutely delectable ganache based truffles! The latter were my reason for seeking out Nuance, but once in the shop, I was astounded to see nearly 50 different bars! They have everything from single origin to inclusion or flavored varieties, milk, and even white. I had to try Chantilly Cream, a milk chocolate made with cream instead of milk (!!!), but there were plenty other varieties that caught my attention: glazed coconut, goat milk, coffee and cream, even a whole line infused with whiskies. They also offer bitters, brewing chocolate, various coffees and cocoas, even nibs. I took home a bag of nibs, and have been enjoying them over fruit and yogurt daily. I eat a lot of cacao nibs, and these are some of the best I have had. While their website advertises a limited selection of truffles, in store I had my choice of 20+. I selected six, but had I known what a dream they would be, definitely would have gotten more! As it is, I have sadly finished them within a week! All were stunningly rich and not-too-sweet, but if forced to choose favorites, I would say Peanut Butter, Toasted Almond and Apricot, and Honey & Lavender win Best in Show. Of note, some are even dairy free for your vegan friends! Prices are $8.50 to $12.50 for bars, $3.80 for truffles, and pretty standard to the market for everything else. The humble craft paper box is so sweet and rustic with it's crimson raffia bow, and I appreciated the time the employees took to note the variety of each truffle for future reference. There is a little seating outside, and they offer curbside pickup, too. They took social distancing very seriously, only allowing three customers in the store at a time. My only regret was hearing someone order a toffee truffle, and realizing I had somehow missed out on that? How?! I suppose I'll just have to travel back to Colorado sometime to get one. Nuance merits the trip on it's own.

If you're looking for the perfect date night activity, look no further than Nuance Chocolate. I'm ashamed to say this was my first time visiting Nuance, despite it being on my list since I arrived in Fort Collins 4 years ago. I can't believe I've been missing out on this magical place for so long. What I didn't realize initially is that Nuance is one of the only chocolate shops in the country that actually produces their chocolate from bean to bar! How cool is that?! Their French style hot chocolate as well as sipping chocolate are outrageously delicious and a great showcase of the rich flavors. AND they offer vegan options (vegan oat milk as well as vegan chocolate) for those drinks! I had walked in there fully expecting to bend the rules of veganism in the interest of satisfying my sweet tooth, but it was such a treat to be accommodated. My partner and I took one sip of our respective drinks (the French hot cocoa and the sipping chocolate) and let out an "Ohhhh my god" in unison, pleasantly surprised by just how tasty these drinks were. We're officially ruined for all other chocolate places. Thanks Nuance!

If you're into chocolate this is the place for you. They are a speciality store making their own bars with various flavors and such. They go into all they do when you go in. It's more info than I could retain, but it was very interesting. And I LOVED my sipping chocolate. It's like liquid cake. But better. Thank gawd this store isn't local to me....I'd be their best customer for sure.

Oh. My. God. I've never been this conflicted about the location of a shop. Let me explain. I'm so incredibly upset that I live all the way in Parker and this gorgeous chocolate shop is in Fort Collins... But as a chocolate nerd I'm also kinda glad I have 1.5 hours between me and this shop because otherwise I'd be here pretty much every other day sampling everything they got! Everything we had from here during our short trip to Fort Collins has been amazing! Honestly the entire trip to Fort Collins was worth it just for the experience we had at Nuance. As other reviewers have mentioned and I've added to my photos on this review, Nuance makes all chocolates they sell on site in small batches. They roast their own cacao beans as well, use no artificial stuff in the making, and have an amazing collection of single origin chocolate bars that any chocolate lover would go crazy over. We had 4 truffles (they're huge) and so far tried two of them: honey/lavendar and Amor - latter has been our favorite and is probably the spiciest truffle I've ever had but it had the perfect amount of heat to it. We also got two single origin bars (so excited to try them!) but the highlight for us so far was the hot chocolate we got from Nuance. They have a few options - you can go with the usual cocoa hot chocolate... Or you can literally get half a chocolate bar melted and mixed with milk or cream (depending on whether you're going for sipping hot chocolate vs the regular) and die of happiness and ultimate chocolate experience! It was the perfect hot chocolate for us and the level of sweetness it had was just right as well. So yeah, like I said... Super sad Nuance is far away from where I live but also kinda glad so I'm not gaining way too much weight and spending all my money on chocolate but man it'd be so worth it! You should stop by here if you're ever around Fort Collins!

Walking around Old Town Ft Collins this weekend, we thought we'd checkout this little chocolate shoppe we spotted. When we walked inside we were greeted right away by one of the gals behind the counter, and given info about the kinds of chocolates and how things were made. They have a bunch of truffles, chocolate bars and sipping chocolates. I decided to try one of the milk chocolate with almond bars. I loved how they looked, the packaging and the chocolate bar. I wasn't blown away by the chocolate itself, maybe I am more used to a sweeter tasting milk chocolate, but it is just okay flavor-wise. For almost $10 for a chocolate bar I was expecting to love it. My friend got some truffles and liked those, and my other friend said good things about the sipping chocolate. I'll have to try that next time! The staff were all super friendly and very knowledgeable/helpful, and the interior is very cute. I am sure we will be back!

I am leaving this review because I was assisted by an amazing employee at this establishment with phenomenal customer service. Shoutout Izzie! She was incredibly knowledgeable on all of the products and gave amazing recommendations. Everything hit perfectly.The chocolate was amazing. I will most definitely be returning.

Politics aside, this is some of THE BEST CHOCOLATE IN THE WORLD, no food products these days preserve the sacred origins of the things we consume, Nuance Chocolate is an exception to that. Truly, a spiritual experience. I recommend the Truffles, magic beans and intense single source bars: Madagascar, Nicaragua, Vietnam.

I wanted to like this more, the staff was all super nice. The truffle was not as creamy as I would have liked and was almost dry in the middle. The sipping chocolate was good but rather pricey for the portion. The Theo was not for me. I would go back for the sipping chocolate.

Nuance=subtle. The chocolate here is anything but nuanced. Tried 3 different kinds and was overwhelmed with a chocolate glob which was supposed to have essences of other flavors but they were all were so overpowered by the thick semi sweet chocolate. Im a lover of all things chocolate and of all the delicate nuances of various flavors added to it. This is nothing like that. Still, the world is better with chocolate shops in it. I hope they learn to improve.

It's the time of year where chocolate Santas are popping up everywhere, but let's be honest, chocolate in any form, is always welcome! We headed to the Nuance Chocolate shop recently and had fun picking out a half dozen truffles to take home and share. They only allow two customers inside at a time so we talked to the owner for a bit outside before going in. He is the nicest guy! I guess if you work with the sweetest ingredients, you can't help but be sweet yourself. There are so many choices and part of the fun is choosing. They are patient with your choices and you never feel rushed. We ended up with truffles and also added a wrapped candy bar for good measure. The small shop is full of big taste and we can't wait to head back for their chocolate tasting flights.

Nuance Chocolate has my heart. This chocolate shoppe is heaven on earth. Every chocolate truffle and chocolate bar here is made in house. They source their cacao from all over the world and really do choose quality chocolates every single time. Their truffles melt in your mouth like butter and they have liquor infused chocolates that are always a pleasant treat too! So if you're looking for a quick pick me up this is the spot!

My father and step mother introduced us to Nuance with a gift of a collection of bars of chocolate. They were a mixture of single origin chocolates and I had never given much thought to how good single-origin chocolate can be like a fine wine. Each region gives the chocolate its own character. For my 50th birthday, my husband made a special order of chocolates and included some truffles. We live in Chicago and the truffles came perfectly packed and arrived faster than we expected. They were so good that we ate them al at once! We will definitely be ordering more from Nuance!

We were visiting our friends in Fort Collins and hey nonchalantly mentioned this place that has "good chocolate." It's not "good" chocolate, this chocolate is amazing and perhaps something you would guard your life with!! I mean, it's the best melt-in-your-mouth with many different flavor explosions chocolate i've ever had, and I didn't even get anything fancy - just chocolate bars! I got the Costa Rica and the Vanilla Bean flavored one, but I literally wanted to buy everything. I thought the price was good for this high quality chocolate, and the service was on point as well. You walk in and someone helps to explain everything to you, and is really knowledgable about their entire process. I was very sad that I couldn't go back the next day. We were on a hike in the Rockies and they closed at 4pm that day. The only saving grace is that they ship and so I can order online!

OMG! THE TRUFFLES ARE ...FUDGE. super thick dense but soft . Excellent flavor... I picked up 6 variety. Subtle but ... distinctive. Tastes ... roasted COCOA. slight sweet but ... the sugar is not forward... the cocoa is. Definitely a quality product for discerning adults

Unfortunately we did not get into the chocolate store because someone drove their car into it recently. They did have a nice pop up shop at the book store around the corner so we were able to get some chocolate bars and truffles. Amazing, tasty treats. Good quality chocolate at a reasonable price. They folks selling the chocolates were very friendly and we wish them the best in getting their building repaired.

If I could give 6 stars, I would!!! Ahhhhhmazing chocolate with super friendly, knowledgeable staff ( John!). We popped in after our anniversary dinner because I wanted some good chocolate, but what I got was some great chocolate! We got half a dozen truffles plus several bars for family members... so far, they all have been absolutely sublime

Pure decadence. We grabbed a couple of truffles and a bottle of their chocolate bitters for mixing up some drinks later. The staff is excited to tell you all about their ethically sourced cacao and their bean to bar process.

What a cool experience! This place is classy, peaceful, and a global experience for your taste buds. They have mostly dark chocolate from various countries around the world, but also a variety of different chocolate types. We also really enjoyed the hot cocoa they have, which was delicious. All in all, this place is a really cool experience, with some super tasty treats. You should try it out, it's a great date spot!

Truffles were pretty average in terms of taste. Honestly, way over-priced. I've had better truffles boxed and shipped from overseas , for less money, than these fresh ones. Polite staff, nice store and ambiance. Really though had hoped for more flavor given that they make their own chocolate from scratch.

Wow! I am so happy and impressed that a chocolate company of this caliber is in Fort Collins. The fact that they import the beans in from respective countries and then self roast and make the chocolate there is an impressive commitment to the way chocolate should be produced. The hubs and I went and sampled five of the amazing truffles; pb,sea salt, apricot brandy, coconut and I think Bailey's. They were all incredible, really rich and perfect examples of what a truffle should be. We also picked up a couple of chocolate bars - one from Uganda and one from Madagascar. Single sourced chocolate is so much fun to try because the flavors are so wildly different based on the terroir. We ended up going back the same day to do a chocolate tasting with our friends. It was the perfect amount of chocolate to again experience the magic of single sourced chocolate! The staff was really friendly and clearly committed to an experience you don't often get with chocolate.

Absolutely wonderful place to come for a treat! Perfect for out of town guests as well as a place to grab a gift for anyone or any occasion. The Theo Brew is my absolute favorite! The hot chocolates are decadent and well worth a try!

Love Nuance. Costumer service is always top notch but would put up with less just to get their amazing chocolates. Have shopped here since they opened and have never had a truffle or bar that disappointed.

Super cute establishment, kind staff, and delicious chocolates. So many flavors to choose from, I am still working through the list but so far I am loving the raspberry & habanero and snake bite truffles!!!

Great single origin chocolate. Best thing here is the French style hot cocoa or the sipping chocolate. Get the Ghanna style for the French hot chocolate ... rich creamy with a hint of vanilla!

What a treat! That sipping chocolate is luscious and will satisfy any choc craving for a long time. We tried both variations the darker version with Ecuadorian chocolate and the One with Ghana chocolate and vanilla. Yummmm. Great little stop to stop, sip, have a break...

Wow! You won't be disappointed. You can order "Flight's, just like in your favorite craft brewery. We had flight #1 and then finished it off with a few truffles. Everything is made locally, with imported cocoa from all over the world. Who doesn't love a good piece of chocolate!

This is a Very nice chocolate shop where you can get deliciously rich truffles! Sit down and enjoy a chocolate tasting or a cup of sipping chocolate! You won't regret stopping by! A fancy little shop that people beg to come back to!

This is now the only place I will go if I want a good hot chocolate. It was actually hot, the rich creaminess of the chocolate and steamed milk was perfection. I had the pleasure of trying the cacoa and coffee which was top notch if I want coffee added to hot chocolate this would be the best and the Theo's brew for just coffee with chocolate undertones was wonderful all by itself nothing added. I also learned while going inside that they have chocolate bars all made in house and truffles. The seating was pleasant and the atmosphere was great for any occasion. Really loved Nuance Chocolate!!

The atmosphere in this store is so unwelcoming and disappointing. All restaurants are open in town, and have been for many, many months, but this place puts boxes and other storage items on their tables to discourage customers from sitting. One of their best features was the chocolate flights, which they no longer offer because people are not allowed to sit at tables. If you're going to be an open shop, people need to feel welcomed and allowed to sit, visit with friends, enjoy their treats, and try a flight. It feels ridiculous and way out of hand to still refuse people the simple luxury of sitting at a table. I don't want to come back here simply because they make me feel unwanted. There is an atmosphere of fear and anxiety from the owner and employees that over shadows any positive qualities of their products.

Amazing chocolate and truffles with such a knowledgeable staff. It's so cool to hear where all the chocolates come from and taste all the subtle differences. The truffles are incredible.

Me and my husband today was first in Fort Collins. We are try found something special. And believe me we are found. Oooo my gosh so delicious chocolate in Colorado. Very very very delicious. Guys tell us all about chocolate. We take three truffles Lavender and Honey, Rum and Ghana. Ooo and we take regular coffee. Coffee not bad. Nice atmosphere,classic music sound and nice guys work. So we are definitely recommend;)))))

Went there the other day. Very interesting story on them being one of only approximately 40 establishments that makes their chocolate from beans. Cute inside. I was a bit confused on what/how to order so got a few different truffles. After I sat down I could see it would have made sense to get a "flight" which are small bites of a selection of chocolate. The chocolate is intense and smooth. Don't expect a selection like Sees. You are not going to get turtles here. I liked the chocolate. A little goes a long way. Don't see how you can eat much of it at a time. It's like drinking espresso. I'm not a big chocolate person. I'm fine eating it a couple times a year. I still have more than half of my truffles in the frig. I'll cut off a bite tomorrow sometime again. Don't hesitate to go and enjoy a very different grown up chocolate (straight up) experience. BTW take the kids to Dairy Queen. This isn't that kind of place. It's much more like a wine and cheese bar experience but with chocolate.
