"This elegant Vietnamese restaurant off I-66 is a destination all in its own. Tucked inside Falls Church’s Founders Row development, the year-old sensation wows with openers that aren’t going anywhere: pappardelle with Vietnamese short rib ragu, coconut curry risotto dotted with Hokkaido scallops, and oysters decadently dressed with a creamy buttermilk vinaigrette. Chef Daniel Lê oversees a kitchen that draws many recipes from Happy Endings Hospitality partner Tuyêt Nhi Lê’s mom. Must-try highlights for spring include shareable lettuce wraps starring deboned fluke, generous herbs, and a pineapple fish sauce that begs to be bottled; meanwhile, a stack of tamarind and coconut-glazed ribs that fall off the bone get an unexpected sweetness via pickled lychee. Gorgeous pastel walls surrounding diners in the back interpret a famous 1930s portrait of a nude (“nue” in French) by Tuyêt Nhi Lê’s great-great-uncle and Vietnamese artist Lê Pho. A pretty bar up front sends out seriously sippable cocktails like a rum-fueled riff on mango sticky rice with eucalyptus bitters. A new weekday happy hour is the time to try top-selling starters like chile oil wontons for $12." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky

"Falls Church is no stranger to Vietnamese fare, but this latest addition combines an elegant atmosphere with precise, interesting dishes like a zippy fennel salad, pho pate, a dramatic whole roasted fish with pineapple nuoc cham, and a seared ribeye accented with black pepper and bell peppers." - Missy Frederick

What a great experience! We decided to give this restaurant a try for my wife’s birthday and were blown away by the food, service and vibe. The food was great. I was expecting smaller portions because of the elevated feel. But I was pleasantly surprised by the serving sizes. We could have shared the ribs between us and been full. They went the extra mile to make our celebration special by surprising us with a birthday card and a gift card for our next visit. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a courteous and friendly host, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. The ambiance and decor were absolutely top-notch, creating a stylish yet comfortable setting. The food was incredible. I had the coconut risotto, and it was bursting with flavor—an absolute delight! My wife had the beef pappardelle, which not only tasted phenomenal but was also beautifully presented. To top it off, I tried their Basil Mint Limeade, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. This place is a gem! Highly recommended, and I’m already planning to come back to explore more of their menu.

It was a great experience. The service and staff were all phenomenal. The cocktails were also very good, the alcohol taste was not strong at all. My only complaint is that the dipping sauce for the fish is a little too one note. It got boring to keep dipping after a while. Otherwise everything else were delicious.

Google
Great experience Good food. I’m vegetarian and the food was great. Limited options - just one app and one entree. But delicious. Great plating too. Great service. Danny was our server. And Jenny was in training. But it was mostly Jenny that took care of us. She was great. And went back to ensure all our questions were answered accurately Ambience is nice. But for a winter dinner I thought the restaurant was a bit loud and a bit too bright. Loved that they charged the 20% service fee. Makes it easier to not have to deal with tipping Things that could be done better - They did have limited options for tea. I wish there were more. And no decaf coffee either. It was just slightly more than the price point I thought it would be.

Google
Drinks were pretty good. Food I chosen slightly disappointed. Snow crab fried rice - was too plain to me. I could not taste rich flavor of each ingredients or fire wok flavor , and lukewarm. Longevity noodle - Loved shrimps but noodle was too greasy. Pho xao - this is not soup style pho. I wrongly ordered expecting soup style.

The best risotto I have ever had in my life. I made a same day reservation on Thanksgiving and was able to get a bar table. Upon arriving I was able to get an even better table. Beautiful place with great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed their artful drink selection. My waiter (Caleb) was great. I hope he leaves the coaster for the light cocktail next time though.

It is BEAUTIFUL inside and the food is all delicious!! Many gluten free options and they’re very knowledgeable about the options. You can’t do the set family style menu gluten free (only one gf entree on that menu) but you can get many of the small plates and a few of the entrees. The cocktails are also so delicious and fun!

The truth is I have been dining here for about a year. I am way overdue in documenting, in written word, what I have observed. This is simply a fantastic restaurant, and its presence has both brightened and elevated the culinary scene in Falls Church profoundly. Hyperbolic perhaps, but this is the immediate feeling I had when I left happy hour yesterday. First and foremost, the kitchen understands FLAVOR! They find a harmonious and exciting balance of salt, fat, sweet, heat, spice, umami in every dish. Craveable is the word that comes to mind. Someone has thought deeply about texture as well. The hamachi crudo, which is delightfully soft and fatty, is buttressed by shaved, fresh celery. The contrast is remarkable. The seafood spring rolls, are simply sic. Sic good. Salty, crunchy and tastes of the ocean. They shatter in your mouth. I could go on about the food more but I want to keep this review relatively brief. The service is impeccable. Warm, informative, professional. Friendly, but not cloying. Lastly, there is an overarching elegance and artistry in everything they do. The presentation of the food and cocktails. The choice of lighting, music, and fonts on the menu. Someone is thinking about an overall experience. This is not a corporate restaurant dominated by ticket times and turning over tables. There is someone with a soul and respect for the guest calling the shots here. Anyway, please go. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Foods are yummy and delicious. Service is very good and polite. I love this restaurant and I introduce many of my friends to this place.

Yelp
Nue brings something new to Vietnamese cuisine. The menu features creative, comforting dishes that melds different flavors into something beautiful. While Nue stays authentic to its Vietnamese roots, the seasoning do not overwhelm the natural flavors of the ingredients. The interior is fun luxury. The space is comfortable and while not a big space, feels spacious. Service was attentive and professional. Overall, we had a wonderful evening and enjoyed everything we ordered. Each dish was unique. The price point is on the high side. Dishes are shareable but not large portions.

Yelp
My husband and I have wanted to dine here forever. We like all the happy endings locations and elevated Vietnamese cuisine just sound amazing. We had a date night with our kids in tow. Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful attending to us and our rowdy kids. Service and the desserts were actually the highlight of our meal. I thought all the dishes that we ordered were good but perhaps I expected a little bit more fusion or uniqueness. We started with their ceasar salad and pho pate and both were delicious. The pho pate had a tang to it with the squeeze of lime juice and I loved the light, crunchy Chinese donut sticks that paired perfectly with the pate. The salad had a nice creamy dressing and different textures which I like. We ordered the risotto with scallops, and bo kho pappardelle for our entrees. The pasta dish was savory, meaty, and smooth. I actually wasn't a fan of the risotto. It was cooked well in the coconut milk and had some heat and spice to it. The first several bites were good. But the dish kind of became one tone and almost boring after the first several bites. The scallops were cooked tender but an extra $19 for three little pieces of scallops that were only descent? I think the overall food here is a bit pricey but this is higher quality and elevated cuisine. I had two zero proof drinks. The Firelight was cool to see light up and I like the spicy seasoning along the side of the glass. Sadly I didn't enjoy Le's Passion. I loved both of the desserts that we ordered which were the Tropical Che and "Blossoming" Pavlova. Both were fruity, lightly sweet, creamy, memorable, and the pavlova itself was perfection. The decor, menu, and drawing of prizes if you spend over $200 taking place now in honor of the upcoming lunar new year is aesthetic and fun. And for those whose meal is $200 or more and want to play the drawing for prizes, I think everyone wins something even if you didn't "win". We didn't win but still got a $25 gift card to return here.

Yelp
The most amazing experience and food I have had in a long time!!! Every Drink, appetizer, entree and dessert perfect! Ashley the Manager was extremely kind, knowledgeable and thoughtful! Her customer service and recommendations set the bar high for all other restaurants in 2025! NOBU take note! You have competition!

Rachel K.

Yelp
My group of 6 came here for dinner and ordered the family style set for 4. We ordered one additional appetizer (yu choy) and one extra entree (com ga chicken and rice) but upon further reflection we probably didn't need the extra food and left with leftovers. Everything tasted amazing but we all really enjoyed the curry risotto. I would definitely recommend Nue for a birthday dinner or special occasion. Service was great, portions were great, and everything tasted really good.

Janet K.

Yelp
Nue is a great example of elevated Vietnamese cuisine. Viet cuisine on its own already stands out for its vibrant and strong flavors - but Nue takes it to a whole other level. My favorite items to get are the fennel salad, the pho pate with youtiao, and the fried spring rolls. The service is great - the managers personally come by to check if everything is okay and remedy anything that isn't (not that there has been any problems so far!) The ambiance and decor definitely make it feel like elegant and high class dining. Side tip: they offer free parking through the little sign they have at the check in counter.

Lynne T.

Yelp
We went here for brunch since they had a specific brunch menu with 3 items - only on the weekends in addition to the regular menu. This place really hit the nail on the head with elegant Vietnamese as the interior and design of the restaurant really captured the ambiance of upscale Viet. As for the food, the dishes that stood out to me the most were the crab fried rice, bo ne, and yuca cake. The yuca cake had a crunchy layer on top, which I loved as it added different texture. Overall all the food was super good!

Maryanne G.

Yelp
After every dish our table of four repeated the same theme... the blending of tastes and textures is so fabulous! (And the plating makes each item so appealing). There are a few things on the menu you might expect at a (really) great Vietnamese restaurant, but most are items that are unique combinations -- both in the food and with cocktails -- everything was delicious -- and our server Jeff was fabulous! It is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion!!!

Liv W.

Yelp
I haven't been to NUE before, but my friend surprised me and brought us here and we honestly had such a wonderful time! It is first of all, a stunning restaurant. Genuinely. The interior has beautiful hanging flowers and floral decor. There is a mural of an outdoor scene and the vibes are truly so elegant. I feel like if you want a nice dinner, this is the place to go! The food itself was amazing and I tried some things I've never thought I'd try. Our waitress (I can't remember her name but she was wonderful and attentive) recommended the Pho chicken liver pate. I was scared because I've had liver pate before and it's not my favorite but she said it tastes exactly like pho. This was insane. Soooooo good! And it did taste like pho and it was comforting and flavorful with peanuts and cilantro and lime on top. The chili wontons were delicious too and even though I don't like shrimp, these were great. But the star of the whole thing was the chicken and rice. Tumeric rice, juicy flavorful chicken... that chicken was HEAVEN. And I stand by that! The pho xao was fine and I probably wouldn't get it again because there was a lack of texture so it was all mushy. I really liked this restaurant and I'd say that it is Vietnamese fusion (they have a short rib pappardelle that looked good). If I came back with a larger group, I would do the family tasting because then I could try even more! I'm so impressed!

Charles C.

Yelp
I had to park in a nearby parking garage and then walk over, where I almost got lost. While the entrance is mostly inconspicuous, it was still on me for almost getting lost. That said, the interior of the restaurant was wonderful. It definitely suited the idea of a more elevated Vietnamese restaurant. Since I was there for lunch, I ordered the stir fried wide noodles which tasted amazing. The service was very nice and accommodating considering I arrived late within my group (completely my own fault there). While more filling than expected for the portion size, I nonetheless wish I ordered more. The chili oil wonton would've been a great appetizer and I'd order that next time along with exploring more of the menu to try another main dish. I would definitely go again because there is enough of a menu to be worth exploring but not so many items as to become overwhelmed.

Yelp
KenScale: 7.75/10 Visit: September 2024 What are the odds you find a risotto dish inside a Vietnamese restaurant? My experience with Vietnamese cuisine thus far has been mostly indulging on the rice noddle dish pho (not infrequently as a hangover cure following late nights of drinking with friends), so I would've been very surprised to a dish that would seem alien to Southeast Asia. In Virginia's Falls Church, a young Vietnamese American woman named Tuyet Nhi Le is looking to change the preconception about Vietnamese food at a fairly new restaurant called Nue Elegantly Vietnamese, with a mission to bring the rich culinary tradition of this country through modern interpretation. Our visit at Nue recently taught us that we should explore more of these ambitious projects. Before we got into the aforementioned risotto, my wife Jun and I wanted to try a few small bites. The chili oil wontons (with wild gulf shrimp and pork inside) didn't have the kind of spicy kick we had encountered at Chinese restaurants, leaning on the sweeter side but still very solid. The Vietnamese fried egg roll (or chả giò) with wild gulf shrimp, lump crab and pork was also a worthy appetizer. Unfortunately, what would've been a highlight of the night turned out to be polarizing. The risotto, with coconut curry base, was a little too sweet for our taste (Jun couldn't help but overhear nearby diners who looked like Vietnamese natives mildly complaining why the food was so sweet). It was the Hokkaido scallops, which we added as a $19 supplement, that saved the day with very nice texture. On the other hand, the other main dish that we ordered, a deboned wild-caught fluke, was quite fantastic. Jun was somewhat puzzled why we were given lettuce wraps (typically we had seen in Korean BBQ settings), but they somehow worked with the crispy fish. I also really liked the dessert we shared, a sweet yuca cake (which came along with dulce de leche ice cream) that gave a very alluringly chewy texture that made me reminisce about my childhood enjoying chapssal donuts growing up in Korea. Getting a reservation at Nue isn't too challenging but the dining room was nearly full by the time we were wrapping up our early dinner, so booking in advance is always recommended. I also liked the charming decoration of the dining room giving the sexy Indochina vibe. For beverage, the restaurant has a number of smartly crafted cocktails that would do well to complement the food. Vietnam is one country that I would love to visit with Jun one day to explore the underrated versatility of its cuisine. In the meantime, we would happily explore restaurants on the stateside like Nue that seeks to push boundaries on the traditional Vietnamese cuisine from a unique angle. I have a feeling we would find more memorable dishes than the risotto on our next visit to the restaurant.

Anh T.

Yelp
Delicious dishes but very expensive. Would recommend the pho pate & seafood egg rolls. Octopus appetizer was flabbergastingly overpriced. Com ga had a weird mixture of flavors, was hoping for traditional ginger fish sauce. Overall atmosphere was beautiful. Servers were nice.

Jen R.

Yelp
Friendly service, great atmosphere that's not too loud, and creative Asian-inspired cocktails. I usually don't like paying for pricey Asian food but this was really good and definitely worth it. My favs - crispy whole fish - cha gio (crispy egg rolls) - green papaya Caesar salad - coconut curry risotto - tropical che (fruit with sago, so refreshing) I think the best value is the family set. The menu says it feeds 4 but it could easily serve 6! The 5 of us couldn't even finish the family set. You get to try all the best things from the menu. Street parking or garage parking across the pedestrian "street".

Yelp
I DO UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS AN "ELEGANT" restaurant (let's start there). It was an empty restaurant when we got there at 12 p.m. on Sunday for brunch which I thought was odd considering this is a popular place. We were seated and the decor was extremely pleasing, felt like I was in a Monet painting. Our waiter was great, super attentive, great guy, but not overly pressing. So what was wrong? It was the food, it wasn't anything to write home about. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it was over hyped and didn't live up to the expectations that I had. The Vietnamese iced coffee was great but was just filled to the brim with ice (pro tip: don't get the salted caramel foam if you want more coffee). We got two apps and two entrees, everything was just decent. The wontons were lukewarm when they came out, the Bo Ne was too salty, the fried rice was what you would expect, and the spring rolls were just eh (not a fan of the crunchy chili). The way that the meal was $150 for all of food pictured was not surprising but it just didn't feel worth it. Definitely worth a TRY but this place wouldn't be somewhere that I recommend. Bringing it back to the "eleganance," since this is a "elegant" place, I expected it to be pricey but it just wasn't worth it for the food (my personal opinion).

Atisha A.

Yelp
The ambiance and service and drinks are absolutely excellent. We sat at the bar and they were very attentive and it was also fun to watch them create a lot of their craft cocktails. The food is good, I got the risotto and the corn. My friend got the octopus. I think the portions are a bit small which perhaps is expected given it's such a fancy place however I found the prices a bit high for my liking as well given the overall quality of the dishes. It's perhaps a good option for a fancy date night or corporate dinner.

Priscilla T.

Yelp
Amazing service and beautiful space! Definitely an elegant experience. I'm not surprised how excellent hospitality and food was since they're part of the Happy Endings Group. They overheard me wishing my friend a belated birthday and gave him a giftcard at the end with a handwritten card! Got to enjoy the Zero Proof Pum Soda and Tamarind Tom Yum. We got the Family Style Set designed for 4 for $249. Very worth if you're interested in trying multiple dishes. We started with Green Papaya Caesar Salad and Lump Crab Asparagus Soup. So good and great balance of refreshing and warm dishes. Appetizers were Raw Hamachi Crudo, Chili Oil Wontons, Seafood Cha Gio, and Pho Pate. All were delicious, but the cha gio and pate stood out the most. Main Course included Bo Kho Pappardelle, Coconut Curry Risotto with Scallops, and Crispy Whole Fish. The pasta is a must get! Definitely one of their best dishes since it's so unique and flavorful. The fish is a fun experience, and still well done, but not my favorite. Same goes for the risotto. We ended with Yuca Cake with dulce de leche ice cream and Tropical Che. Fun desserts and not overly sweet! They have rotating food and drink menus throughout the year depending on season so will definitely come back to try other things!

Ashley H.

Yelp
The vibes, service and food here is so so good! Honestly worth the hype. We came in a group of 4 and ordered the family style set which came with 4 courses (soup/salad, appetizer, main course and dessert). This came with more than enough food and enough for leftovers the next day. All of the soup/salad course and appetizer course I would order again the next I come! The main courses were all also really good but I would probably only order the crispy whole fish again. Nothing bothers me more than when a place claims to be fusion but doesn't deliver on the authenticity of a dish/culture. However NUE really nails this, they do a great job balancing creativity but still keeping Vietnamese components to the dishes! Their drink menu is also extensive and contains a lot of really fun cocktails, definitely will be coming back!

Michaele M.

Yelp
First of all, this is an absolute gorgeous restaurant. Rich, decadent, luxe, bordalesque (is that a word?...now it is). Chilli oil Wontons - honestly, I couldn't tell what I was biting into, just tastes like a wad of meat, but this accompanying sauce is to die for. I think there are chopped up nuts of some kind (could be mistaken) that add nice texture and cut the spice of the oil nicely. Fire Dragon Cocktail - mmmm, refreshing and tasty. Nice balance of sweet and sour. Kalamansi margarita - not my favorite. To me, it tasted like an extremely tart orange juice - not bad, but not what i had in mind. Hamachi Crudo - light, delicate and packed with flavor! The passionfruit sauce adds a burst of refreshing sweetness that is delicious. Dragon's Eye cocktail- I'm a lover of bourbon, so this simple yet strong drink is right up my ally. Yucca cake - delicious. The crunch is wonderful and the light flavor of the yucca is complimented perfectly with the tres leches ice-cream. What really made this a stellar experience was the attensiveness of the staff. My bartendar (the gentleman with both ears pierced) was a delight - couldnt have asked for better.

Yelp
nue was a pretty good meal, solid and interesting cocktail menu with friendly service. but most of the food had execution issues and for the most part were pretty small portions. also the sound deadening is nonexistent in there - it was so loud in one of the dining rooms and impossible to hear my dining companions. favorite dish was the side order of yu choy. the esquites were nice, but unsure of what made this dish viet. the octopus was decent, on the smaller side but not chewy. the Caesar salad had good texture but was missing the anchovy punch and citrus. dumplings were nice. the pappardelle was overcooked, but the beef was tasty. The risotto was also overcooked, and the scallops did not have a good sear on them, but overall flavor was decent.

Ravindra D.

Yelp
Four of us went to Nue for lunch on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Dinner reservations were booked solid. It was very quiet when we got there at 11:45, but it got busier by the time we were done. Service was very good and we were seated quickly. We had two appetizers, the chili oil wontons and the seafood rolls. Both were very good. We had two shareable entrees. The medium whole fried fish and the baby back ribs. There was a lot of food, but it was so good that we finished it all. This place is on the pricy side, but the food is very good and the service is good too. Worth it for a treat.

Yelp
Our party of 5 was able to try a good number of the dishes at NUE. This restaurant is perfect for larger groups as they have quite a few dishes that feed 4 or people. Overall the dishes here are pricey but, for the most part, the dishes are worth it. For our appetizers, we had the crab soup, the fried veggie rolls and the viet style corn which is a side that we treated as an appetizer. The soup was a 9/10 flavor but could have used some more crab. The veggie rolls were maybe a 6/10 that relied a lot on the chili sauce and chili flakes for flavor. The corn, though, was an amazing 10/10 and definitely a recommend. For our entrees, our group split the curry risotto and the seasonal whole duck dish. The curry risotto was a 7/10 with good curry flavor but the texture was a little off for risotto. We didn't get the risotto with the scallops and we think the dish needs them to mix up the flavors more. The duck's flavor was amazing with the rice stuffing and sauce being the best part. Overall, though, I give the duck an 8/10 as the duck meat itself was overcooked and dry and needed the sauce with every bite. All of our cocktails were amazing and they have quite the list of cocktails. Even the non-alcoholic plum soda was delicious. We got the yuca cake and pudding for the desserts and they are both a recommend. Specially, the ice cream with the yuca cake is amazing. The service staff was polite and we appreciated the descriptions they gave of the food. Our party was there at 1pm on a Sunday so we didn't get a feel for the dinner ambiance as it was quiet. Not sure if they normally play music. We did like mural on the walls. The seats, however, were not the most comfortable and a little small.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic and worth a try if you like Vietnamese food! Parking is in an adjacent garage and super easy. While street parking is available it's tricky to come by in the area. Upon walking in you can sense it's going to be modern and fun. Lower back plush chairs and big booths make up the dining room, as well as some floral art. Service was great!! Empty plates were bussed without the party feeling rushed. Servers were able to describe some items not common to American culture and they were super friendly and even made us laugh. Everyone said how amazing their food was - we all want to return soon!! Everything was unique and very flavorful. I strongly recommend making a reservation because it can get very busy. It's fun to share the different apps (and even entrees). The cocktails were unique and some are seasonal. Every cocktail was expertly made and colorful. While this spot is a bit pricey, it's upscale and with the price for the perfectly cooked and tasty food served. I strongly recommend Nue and cannot wait to visit again!

Yelp
NUE is a modern Vietnamese restaurant, but more of a modern Asian-fusion with a larger focus on Vietnamese. We got the crispy whole fish and coconut curry risotto with Hokkaido scallops (3 pieces for additional $19). I would recommend both dishes as they were very flavorful. The scallops were cooked well, however were slightly bitter. The risotto was cooked well, and the curry and coconut were great, and not overpowering each other. The whole fish is deboned, and the pineapple nuoc cham was delicious. You wrap the fish, herbs and noodles with the lettuce and dip it in the nuoc cham. It would have been better if there was rice paper. For cocktails, we got the matcha delta, wood dragon, and kumquat one: drinks were good, but nothing that stood out. My partner and I came for our 5 year anniversary, and the hostess and waiter congratulated us on our anniversary, but the restaurant didn't do anything for the special occasion. The bathroom are clean, and even has mouthwash, floss and lotion. There is a retail parking lot and the restaurant provides a code for free parking (but if you don't use the code, it's $3 for 3 hours). There is a 20% service charge on all bills.

Karen O.

Yelp
Their tasting menu is amazing and SO MUCH FOOD. My friends and I also came for Thanksgiving and the specials were awesome. It's great to have an upscale dining option where I don't have to drive into DC.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Really really good food. A modern take on Vietnamese food, although I can't claim to know Vietnamese cuisine that well. Salted plum lime soda: this was really good. I expected it to be more tart. It was very refreshing and the non-alcoholic drink I needed. Tea: it was a bit cold in there and I was wearing shorts, so I wanted a cup of hot tea as well... Unfortunately they were out of all of their caffeinated/green teas, but they had a small selection of herbal teas. It's the Forte brand which I liked, but a strange cocktail theme flavor. I wasn't a big fan of the one I chose, but it kept me warm. I might opt to be like my Asian mom and just order hot water next time instead when the selection isn't great. Grilled oysters: you know... They were so smooth I couldn't tell if they were cooked or raw. But the flavor was great and it wasn't like anything I've ever had before. Summer rolls: too lazy to look for this on the menu for the actual name. These had shrimp, crab, pork, and taro. It was honestly so mixed that I didn't really taste the individual proteins. It was very taro-y. They were packed though and flavor was still pretty good. Coconut curry risotto: so so very good. I've never had anything like this before. The curry and spicy kick was perfect and never thought risotto would go with flavors like this. The vegetables were yummy --loved the lightly coated and fried tofu, mushrooms, and carrots-- I just wish there were more! Whole fish (medium): this was supposed to be for 2 people I think but we had so many appetizers there's no way we could finish it. The picture doesn't show how massive this was. And it was deboned...the rice noodles with some fried fish wrapped in lettuce with that sauce was soooo good. If you like seafood, highly recommend getting this. Definitely the star of the show. My only complaint was that some of the lettuce had holes so it was hard to use as a wrap. Overall, the interior is interesting, service was great, food was great. There's a few things I would change like the size of the 2-person tables and the distance between the tables. When the server was attending to the table next to us, I was nervous they would knock down the vase on our table. Some people may complain about the price, and I thought it seemed high at first too, but I could see that each of the dishes is so carefully prepared and presented that I'd say it's worth it.

Erich K.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful experience at Nue last night (January 3rd) and felt compelled to share! I had been to the restaurant before for lunch and loved it, so I was excited to bring a group for dinner. I was a little nervous, though, since we had some very big eaters in our group, and I wasn't sure there would be enough food to satisfy them. I'm happy to say, my worries were completely unfounded! We arrived a bit early to grab a drink at the bar, and I'm so glad we did. The bartender (curly hair, working around 7:30 pm) was fantastic--patient, friendly, and made the most delicious drinks. He really set the tone for a great evening. Once we were seated, the food did not disappoint. Every dish was incredible, and there was more than enough to go around for our group. The flavors were spot on, and the portions were generous, which made the big eaters in our group very happy! Our waitress was also fantastic--attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service from start to finish. We were a group of six and I just want to thank the entire team for such a great experience. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend Nue for both the amazing food and outstanding service!

Yelp
I've been to Nue twice in the last 30 days. It has a lot of positives and one big area of correction, IMO. We became intrigued to try Nue, after eating next door at the sister restaurant, Chasin' Tails (which I should also write a review about - it's really good and a unique experience!). Anyway, I'm not that familiar with Vietnamese food, and every single server and bartender at Nue knows the menu inside and out... They are all engaging, charming, and well versed in the ingredients, the allergens, the flavors, the edibility of the garnishments. They are quick to make great recommendations and patiently and cheerfully explain all the nuances. I don't know how they are trained, but the service and education of every staff member is phenomenal. The vibe is sexy, and slightly bougie. The decor is gorgeous, the flower arrangements at the bar are lovely, I just love being in the place. I even love the music they play. Great for date night, or if you just want to feel like you are indulging yourself. The food is terrific. I've had almost all the appetizers on the starter menu and everything is perfection. I've only had two main dishes... The chicken and rice and the seared ribeye. I almost didn't order the chicken and rice because chicken and rice sounds so boring and we eat chicken and rice at a number of the area Peruvian restaurants. This is next level +10. I told the bartender it's one of my favorite meals that I've eaten in the last six months... The chicken is prepared sous vide style so it is very moist and tender. The skin is crisped, Chicharron style, and somehow put back on the chicken. The creamy coleslaw is not your grandma's coleslaw... It has all of these flavor fusions that I can't even describe. And it's all served next to the most gorgeous, delicious turmeric rice that I've ever had... the friend I was with took a bite of the rice and chicken and simply closed her eyes, lifted her head to the sky, and breathed slowly for like three minutes because it was so good. The food is expensive, but I don't care because it's so good. The challenge they have is the bar. Both times we've asked to be seated at the bar, because the bar is so pretty. The cocktails are gorgeous and delicious and presented with unique details. Every drink is different. I overheard one of the bartenders last night training someone on how to "make the drink look prettier". You can tell they take a lot of pride in presentation. They also take a lot of time in presentation... You'd think you would be able to get faster bar service at the bar...... I arrived before my friends and ordered my drink; it took about 20 minutes before it arrived. My two friends arrived about 10 minutes after I did and it took them 30 minutes to get a drink and they had to ask for status updates twice. We were there early... 5 Ish. The last time I was at Nue was Christmas Eve and we also sat at the bar; it took a long time to get drinks then too. I chalked it up to being Christmas Eve but there was absolutely no reason for the drinks to take that long last night... There were three or four bartenders behind the bar... I don't know whether they're making drinks for the restaurant next-door or what but they've got to speed it up. No issue with the quality or the taste or the presentation... But waiting 30 minutes for drinks is not acceptable. The food comes out fairly quickly so that's not the issue. Either find more bar support, or figure out a way to streamline the drink making process! That being said, all of the bartenders were adorable, charming, and engaging... I have not ever been seated in the restaurant area, so I'm curious as to what that experience would look like if I ordered cocktails there. I'm afraid to try! Overall, I'm so glad that Nue has arrived to Falls Church. I will keep going back and if they can't get the bar act together, I'll start being more vocal about it! Thanks, Nue for bringing something different, charming, and interesting to the area.

Yelp
Never had Vietnamese done like this. Even in SoCal. Modern with some elements of fusion but true to the authentic flavors. How do they do that? Everything is presented so well and service is wonderful. Portions are moderate. This is a restaurant I would go to for a casual outing with a friend to get great food but also a place I might take an out of town visitor to impress them without spending a boatload of money. Instagrammable food and decor. Wish they were open for lunch more days.

Yelp
Modern Asian-fusion (though marketed as Vietnamese) spot with a great atmosphere but a high price tag I came here with my GF for dinner on a Friday night because we saw all of the great reviews. We actually couldn't even get a reservation for normal dinner time, the closest they had was either a seating at 5:45 or 7:45 - we opted for the former. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, but it filled up very quickly. The food and cocktail menu was very solid, with a bunch of interesting innovative concoctions. They also had notes on the menu for which cocktails paired best with which dishes, which was a cool touch that I haven't seen before The waiter was also very friendly, our food was prepared very quickly, and our portions were sizable My GF and I each got a drink (for a little less than $20 each) and an entree. The drinks were tasty but very small given their price tag. The tried to use tons of ice to make them seem bigger then they were The food was okay, but not my favorite. I actually consider it to be the weakness of the whole experience.

Yelp
I heard mixed reviews of this place with people saying the food is good but not worth the price or saying it's not authentic enough, etc. I'm so happy I ended up trying it cause I ended up loving it! The food is pricey and I'm not 100% sold that it's worth this price but i think it can work for special occasions at least. The interior is decorated nicely and we sat at the bar to avoid a wait time after calling in about an hour before. The bartender/ waiter and workers were all very friendly and provided us great recommendations! Drinks Gold dragon - 3.5/5 not too strong but not too memorable. Remember liking it overall though Ha long bae - 4/5 not too sweet but sweet enough I barely tasted the alcohol! Loved this Les passion - 2/5 too sweet Small plates Chili oil wontons - 4.5/5 this is actually one of the highlights of our meal! The sauce was kinda sweet and savory with small spice. Pretty unique and very tasty! Seafood cha gio - 4/5 super yummy, loved the sauce and the lettuce was a good add on to keep it light. Really good crunch and flavor, not dry! entrees Coconut curry risotto - 4/5 super creamy, sweet and rich! We shared it so it tasted perfect but thinking back maybe if this was my whole entree it might be overwhelmingly creamy or get boring. Not a fan of the greens but all the other toppings were very yummy Hokkaido scallop add on - 3.5/5 cooked super nicely and closer to like a medium rare. Great flavor that matches perfectly with the risotto but too expensive for our 3 prieces lol. Com ga - 3.5/5 very juicy and flavorful chicken! The rice it comes with is well seasoned too

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese food and great service! Been here twice - on the first visit w/just 2 persons ordered the Surf n' Turf Board and OMG - that was so good. Guess it came out later than it should as they apologized and provided couple of vouchers for few drink/appetizer on next visit. Honestly, it wasn't as late as other places I've been but we really appreciate the great care there. On next visit with 4 persons, ordered the Family Style Set. I wanted to also order the Surf n' Turf Board in addition but the waitress thought that may be too much food. Good thing we listened as the Family menu was a lot of food! Their appetizers were all so good as well as the entrees and we have to come here more often to try them all out. Putting this restaurant on our regular rotation - highly recommended!

Yelp
Saw this new modern Vietnamese restaurant and was looking forward to trying it. It was a pleasant experience with AMAZING service and I would go again, but not out of the way. The food is good, but growing up on Vietnamese food, it's hard to pay for "upscale Vietnamese food" unless the food is really unique/wow. But I appreciate it and think it is good for others whom may not be able to access some of these dishes before/as easily. There are some interesting takes as well that the restaurant has. Very cute/elegant ambiance and decors! Enjoyed the Lychee Blue Butterfly. Dishes we tried: - Chili Oil Wontons (Sauce is delicious, but the wontons didn't have much flavor) - Baby Clams with Sesame Crackers (Enjoyed this, flavor was great) - Seafood Cha Gio (Didn't taste the seafood much, but enjoyed this dish the most) - Raw Hamachi Crudo (Unique flavor, it's nice and different - refreshing) - Bo Ne (Was good, but we were already getting full) For parking, there is a parking garage and you can get your ticket validated at the restaurant.

Yelp
Ambiance: great for a first date! lol it's elegant and classy. Service: quick and informative Food: new take on classic dishes! It was not a fusion! So I was happy about that, more so it kept the tradition of Viet food but with a new generational take on it. The pho is a dry take on the classic hot broth. It was perfect for a lighter meal. All the flavors of pho was still present! The curry cous gous was great too! Creamy, coconuty and sweet and savory! Very clean tasting. The Thit Kho take was perfectly cooked! The sauce was thick and packed of savory umami flavor! The noodles were perfectly tender too! The fish was fantastic and my favorite! The fish was packed with garlic and onion flavor. It was crispy but tender and flaky inside! The herbs were fresh and crispy! The sauce was new take on traditional fish sauce! It was thicker and more citrusy! The dessert was good, but not to my liking. However the other people in our group did like it. The sticky rice was tender but because that was grilled it became too chewy at the bottom. The mango was stuffed inside the sticky rice and it was small and sour. So it wasn't a ripe mango. I think if they grilled the mango itself it would've brought out the sweetness instead. The mango Icecream was good. Sweet and tangy. The sago was perfectly made where it was soft and tender and coconuty.

Yelp
I love this place! Great food, service and ambiance. It can be a little pricy but their portions are great. While I am a big foodie, I appreciate the service given here, they go above and beyond! Personally, I love the seafood cha gio, octopus, bo kho pappardelle, and crispy whole fish! The best part- dessert, my favorite is the tropical che. Not too sweet and a perfect refresher after a filling meal. Also, their cocktails are super tasty!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Nue for so long!! We are fans of the other restaurants they own and we were finally able to make it last week to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were pleasantly greeted and the host made sure to wish my husband a happy birthday right away, which was very nice. They explained us the parking situation (they validate it but make sure you know your license plates) and were promptly seated afterwards. The place is very intimate and beautifully decorated. The are where we were seated (in between the bar and the larger dining area) was a little too loud, but honestly everything else was sooo good that it didn't matter. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the pho pate which was a 10/10- soo good and it's crazy how it tasted just like Pho! We loved that it has a spicy kick to it. Then we ordered the crispy whole fish (large) and it was absolutely delicious!!! Seasoned and cooked to perfection, I loved that it came with noodles and lettuce to make lettuce wraps, it was a very large portion but we couldn't stop eating it. We had a side of corn which wasn't very memorable specially compared to the other dishes, and we probably could have skipped it, but it was good nonetheless. By the end we were pretty full for dessert but the waiter brought a complementary dessert for my husband's birthday. It was like a tapioca mango/coconut pudding, very refreshing a delicious, and we loved that it wasn't overly sweet. We will definitely be back and we keep recommending it to friends! We had a great dinner and the whole staff made sure my husband had a very special celebration!

Yelp
The menu strikes a perfect balance between traditional Vietnamese flavors and modern culinary techniques. Staples like mi xao, banh mi, and banh xeo are elevated with unexpected twists. The staff is attentive, well-versed in the menu, and eager to provide recommendations. Service is prompt. The drink menu includes a variety of inventive cocktails and mocktails, with many drawing on traditional Vietnamese ingredients like lychee, and tamarind. While on the pricier side, the quality of the food and the overall experience justify the cost. Portions are fair for a fine dining experience, but if you're used to street-style Vietnamese pricing, be prepared for a more premium tag. This modern Vietnamese restaurant successfully blends innovation with tradition, offering a refined dining experience that remains true to its roots. It's perfect for special occasions or when you're craving Vietnamese flavors in an upscale setting.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place as we have been to nearby chasing tails and Ellie bird. This did not disappoint! The seafood Cha gio is a must order. I liked the whole dish and was very surprised how much I liked it. The coconut curry was full of flavor, scallops were cooked perfectly. I was very impressed with the short rib with papardelle, the portion is easily a double size. Would absolutely come back again to see what is in their seasonal menu. Should be noted there is a 20% service charge already on the bill. The server was good about telling us up front.

Yelp
PERFECTION! We had our 18 person holiday dinner at NUE and from the initial email to the ending of our meal, we were taken care of with such attention. Their hospitality needs to be highlighted just as much as the delicious food they create- Ashley and her team were gracious and efficient and the table scape they set for us was beautiful and modern. Our team had a wonderful dinner filled with the most delicious cocktails and the food was outstanding. We had so much food that we all left so stuffed! Everything we ate was just delicious. We had crab soup, wontons, pho pate, seafood rolls, the ribeye, scallops with risotto, bo kho papardelle, the fried fish platter and ended with dessert. A meal to remember. Thank you for making this a great holiday dinner for us!

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance is just fantastic. This was a second visit and while the surf n turf and tomahawk pork chop were delicious, the quantity was barely enough. It was pricey. Next time I'd go back to the sampler for 4.

Yelp
Food was Vietnamese-inspired and fusion with unique eats like pho pate, bo kho pappardelle, and yucca cake with ice cream. All were tasty. Pricy but they had nice service and ambiance.

Yelp
An absolutely amazing meal. We came here for dinner with neighbors, who also enjoy and have eaten a fair amount of Vietnamese food. We are all really impressed. Upon walking in, you see immediately that the owners have taken a lot of care in decorating the restaurant. It's not garish, but it is done with extremely good taste. And extremely clean. It is really nice to walk in and feel like they focus on cleanliness. We sat in the far corner in a round table with both chairs and booth type seating. It was all very comfortable. We looked at the a la carte menu and realized that our best choice would be the Family Style Set. Actually, it's more of a tasting menu. Everything you see listed under the header is served. Our servers were excellent. Several of them attended to our table and they were very patient with explaining what each dish was, what it contained in terms of ingredients and spices. There were so many dishes as you can see, and literally nearly all were absolutely delicious. The soup was absolutely fantastic. The yellow tail was so good as were the wontons. My favorite dish was the whole fish which was a flavored so incredibly well and served filleted. My least favorite was the risotto-our server told us that this is typically peoples' favorite. For me, it just wasn't that interesting. The desserts were also superb. The yuka cake and tropical Che were a wonderful way to complete our excellent meal. People have mentioned the issue of parking. There's an adjacent parking lot that we were able to use and find a spot without any issue. We weren't asked to pay to park but I see that some people have experienced a hassle. One recent reviewer pointed out that this restaurant is a bit pricey. I can't agree. The restaurant business is so challenging now with the increased cost of food, increased wages and all sorts of uncertainty. This is a meal well worth its cost.

Yelp
I booked a reservation at Nue for Mother's Day and I definitely do not regret my decision. I've been wanting to come here as for a while so we were all excited to give it a shot. Parking was located in the adjacent garage and the restaurant provided a code for us to use to park for free. We got seated immediately and the decor in the room we were seated in was beautiful. The walls had some beautiful paintings as well. Definitely one of the best dining rooms I've been in. A special pre-fixe Mother's Day menu was offered for $199 so we knew we had to order that. We also ordered a Calamansi Margarita and a Mango Sticky Rice to drink. Both cocktails were really good, especially the Mango Sticky Rice. We started with the Bitter Melon Seafood Salad and Lump Crab Asparagus Soup. Everyone loved both of these but there wasn't too much soup for everyone but it made sense for later. The salad was also really good even though I'm not big on bitter melon. Next we got the Hamachi Crudo, Seafood Cha Gio, and the Chili Oil Wontons. All of these were so good. My favorite was the Cha Gio, very crispy. For our mains we got the Bo Kho Pappardelle, Coconut Curry Scallop Risotto, Jumbo Lump Crab Bahn Kho, and a 2 lb Whole Fluke. This was really a lot of food for the four of us. We really all loved the whole fried fluke and the preparation of it. The pappardelle was a close second just because of the tenderness of the braised short ribs. Lastly we finished with the Yuca Cake with a very good dulce de leche ice cream and the Tropical Che. The Yuca Cake was great because it wasn't too sweet but has a nice crispiness and of course that amazing ice cream. The Tropical Che was refreshing and I loved the amount of lychee in it. Overall, very satisfying meal with great service and atmosphere as well. I will absolutely be back.

Yelp
NUE was smart and decided to buy out all of (what looks like) the first floor of this apartment building area and built out Chasin Tails, Roll Play Grill, and NUE, lining each store next to eat other in a row, so the kitchens all sit on the same section, saving a ton of construction (kitchen) costs. If you're asking if I enjoyed NUE, I did. If you're asking if it's authentic Viet? Not quite. They have their own spin on the food. Is it pricey? Yes. We even heard a group of 6 remark at how bombastically the prices were. Drinks: We tried 4 different cocktails. Hubs enjoyed The Fire Dragon, but not The Water Dragon cocktail. My Ha Long Bae drink was better than the Calamansi Margarita (I tasted zero calamansi). Food: Seafood cha gio (I couldn't really taste a ton of seafood but I did enjoy the crispy bits they sprinkled on top), Bo Kho Pappardelle (I wish there would've been some baguette to soak up some of the extra sauce), Crispy Whole Fish. The star of the show was definitely the crispy whole fish: to be so crispy that you can just break off pieces of the tail and head and munch away. If you love seafood, you will not be disappointed with this dish. For 2 people, we honestly could have done with one less food item we ordered. Service was on par with this type of restaurant; they already charge a 20% service charge so anything extra is extra. Parking is street parking or the parking garage. Overall, I would come back.

Yelp
Exceeded all expectations. Been on our hit list since the summer. We had the holiday set menu serving family style dishes with four distinct courses. We had the lump crab asparagus soup and papaya salad for the soup & salad course. The soup had a quail egg and was a nice touch. The appetizer course consisted of chili dumplings, raw hamachi crudo, liver pate, and seafood roll with lettuce accompanying it. All tasted great, but I did not like the pate. It tasted too sweet to my liking. We had the short rib papardelle pasta, crispy fried fish, and coconut risotto with scallops. All perfectly done well. The dessert course came and the two dishes were light and complemented the set menu well. We were fortunate as we sat in the bar. The vast knowledge of both bartenders were unmatched. Not only did they know their own craft, but well versed in the menu as well. Service was superb. We will definitely return.

Yelp
This is a very nice place for date night and special occasions. The restaurant ambiance was inviting, with soft lighting and comfortable seating. The decor was elegant. We ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and the Hot Dragon cocktail which infused with cherry oak fumes. The star of the night was the Whole Fried Fluke which was deboned (genius!), herbs, cilantro, lettuce wraps with pineapple vinaigrette sauce for dipping. The fish was perfectly seasoned with delicious toppings of scallions, chopped nuts and herbs. The fish was fresh and meaty. It was a generous serving enough for 3-4 people. A minute less cooking would have been perfect. We chose the Tropical Che for dessert and loved it as well. It was not too sweet and was bursting with flavors of mango and lychee and different textures. The sago was cooked just right. Our server Dylan was awesome! He was friendly and attentive and made it a special night. Note: 20% tip is included in the bill. Restaurant location is not obvious from the parking lot. Directional signs would be helpful.

Yelp
I visited during their "brunch", which is offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I liked the place and will definitely come back and try it for dinner. I tried the Chili Oil Wontons, which were super tasty. I also ordered the Stir Fried Wide Noodles with Shrimp. You could tell that the noodles were homemade. They were in a sweet soy sauce, which was tasty, but could have used a little bit more spice. The only minor "complaint" would be that the noodle dish didn't really have many vegetables in it, so it was mostly just noodles. Both dishes were very pleasingly presented.

Yelp
It was challenging trying to find this place with all the construction, but once I entered, my experience was fantastic! I was cheerfully greeted and immediately asked if I had a reservation, which I did. I was quickly escorted to my table that was beautifully decorated. Since I was alone, I didn't get an appetizer. I opted for one of Mocktails, the short rib pasta, and the yucca cake! Everything was fantastic! I will definitely be returning with friends and family!

Yelp
Outstanding! I've been wanting to try Nue as I've heard amazing things about it. It was a bit hard to find since the only signage outside was the letter N. It's located right next door to their sister restaurant Chasin Tails. We had reservations so we were seated right away. The interior and decor were beautiful. The presentation of all the dishes and drinks were amazing. We ordered the following: - Chili oil wontons: 3.5/5 - nothing special - Pho Pate: 5/5 - loved the twist they put on pate - Ha Long Bae: 5/5 - Crispy Whole Fish: 4/5 - Amazing especially since it was deboned - Bo Kho Papperdelle: 3/5 - didn't love this dish. could barely taste bo kho flavor - Coconut Curry Risotto: 5/5 - amazing flavors with succulent, large scallops - Yuca Cake: 5/5 - the texture of the yuca cake combined with the ice cream and some sea salt ...yum - Tropical Che: 4/5 I went here for my birthday and they brought out the yuca cake with a candle. They also gave me a birthday card with a gift card inside to come back at a later date and a set of engraved wooden chopsticks. What a pleasant surprise! The service here was fantastic. They were very attentive and kind. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been there twice now and every single thing I ate each time was delicious! You really can't go wrong with any menu item. My favorite dish though is the short rib papardelle. I love the modern yet energetically soft ambiance, but just a bit loud. Service was excellent too
