Nuestro Mexico Restaurant

So happy we finally stopped in. 10/10. Service was great, everyone was checking in, bringing drinks, clearing plates. The restaurant is small and they have small outdoor area. Menu was delicious. They have a whole vegetarian section, excellent margaritas. We all left full and happy.

M family felt like Mexican tonight and after looking at Google reviews, we picked this place……and glad we did. We all loved our meal. Just delicious. My wife had the chicken tacos and thought they were some of the best she has ever had. I had a bite and they were so good. My son had the trio of enchiladas. While all three were tasty, the verde one was streaking good. My other son had the steak tacos and loved them. I had the shrimp ajo dish. The garlic and spices were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed my choice. Oh, we started with the shrimp ceviche app and we really enjoyed that too. Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

OMG! The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Loved the authentic atmosphere. Definitely had to take some leftovers because these portions were too good!!!

They're good for Mexican food, sometimes can be off not necessarily in flavor but quality like bread could be too hard or not enough filling, but most part good for lunch

Great place! We enjoyed our lunch of Tacos Al pastor, chile encuerado, chile colorado, and bistek encervezado. The cafe de olla was rich and sweet. If we lived here we’d come back!

Just had the best fajita I think I’ve ever eaten. The trio, chicken, steak, and shrimp, and I’ve never had steak that tender on a fajita and all the other vegetables that came with it were really dang good. Great mix great flavor. Loved it.

Went there with friends after a convention in Bakersfield. Looked it up online. Had lots of 5 star reviews. Our party of 6 got a table no problem. Service was good. I had flautas, one have nachos, another fish tacos, a quesadilla… everything was about the best I’ve seen. Fresh, colorful. The place is small. Maybe 40 seats. People coming in said it’s their favorite place.

Well I came to yelp for some seafood Mexican food. And this place did not disappoint. Food amazing. Staff great. The whole feel of the place was Thanks for a great lunch

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--Nuestro Mexico has the BEST Mexican food in town! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the sweetest, Mia. She made our visit even more special by being incredibly attentive and friendly. She recommended the Nuestro Mexico tacos and bar, which I'm already planning to check out next weekend! Now, let's talk about why I love this place so much--the fajitas. No one else in town does them like Nuestro Mexico. The meat juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. What really sets them apart is the addition of nopales, which takes every taco to the next level of amazing. Their homemade salsa is another highlight--authentic, flavorful, and the perfect complement to every dish. And let's not forget the drinks, which are always on point, and my absolute favorite dessert: the fried ice cream. I can't leave without indulging in one--it's the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. Nuestro Mexico is hands down my go-to spot for authentic, delicious Mexican food, and I can't recommend it enough!

Had to come back to this spot and it didn't disappoint. I had a Michelada and some fajitas. The fajitas are a hit, they have nopales (cactus) mixed with them. Service and quality of their food is a 10/10.

Had my eye on this spot for awhile now! Hubby and I finally stopped by for lunch and drinks today, and we sure are happy we did. . . Very cool vibes all around; staff was friendly and happy; customers were chill and relaxed; the place just felt welcoming and comfortable overall... We ordered the enchilada trio combo, the chicken taco combo, and a few Cadillac Margaritas, lol. Chips and salsa were immediately brought out and were very yummy.  The salsa was on point! Loved the flavor, heat level, and texture of the salsa, and the chips were warm and delicious as well. Food was freshly made and tasted so good; the chicken from the tacos was chunky, super flavorful, and tender; all three flavors of the enchiladas (salsa verde, chicken, and beef) were all outstanding.  Rice and beans had that authentic taste and were equally incredible. Everything was just cooked to perfection. The shots were generous and the margaritas strong! Really enjoyed those! The dining area was clean, but it's definitely on the small side; maybe 7-10 tables overall? I can imagine this place filling up quickly on the weekends! I also ordered an iced tea, which tasted watered down... But overall, we had a great time here! Parking can probably get tricky if it's busy in that area. Prices are normal, not cheap, but not expensive. Portions are pretty big too.  Great find! It was a pleasure, and we'll be back for sure! :)

We stopped in while visiting from Seattle. We were greeted at the door by the sweetest people. Then we received some of the best service we've ever had followed by flavorful, authentic food, and large portions of protein! They pour strong drinks if you want and are just lovely humans. Eat, drink, and be yourself here! YUM!

We decided to come here for dinner dinner since it was near the Mechanics Bank Arena. I have eaten here many years ago, but was not actively Yelping. When we arrived, there were only a couple of tables occupied. Soon after the place was full. After we were seated, our waitress came by and took our drink order. This is what we ordered for our dinners. Cheese enchiladas Steak burrito Shrimp tacos Deep fried ice cream ( free when you check in on Yelp) My enchiladas were really good. My friend that ordered the shrimp tacos said they were good, but the rice and beans were not the same as my sons and were not good. She received white rice with some peas and carrots in it and a little bowl of beans. My son received the traditional Mexican rice and refried beans. He said they were good and enjoyed his meal. I think my friend would've been happier if she got the same sides. We received great service throughout our dinner. 2/7/24

Came here for the first time tonight. We got here around 5pm and it wasn't crowded at all and the service was really quick and good. We ordered the house margarita and watermelon margarita and they were both good. The pastor tacos were really good! The cilantro cheese taquitos were just ok. I'd recommend checking this place out.

Amazing service!! And delicious food! When we entered we were immediately greeted and went to a table. The waitress was very attentive about the food and drinks. As soon as our cups were empty, a new full glass was brought. I definitely recommend and will be going again!!

The decor and vibrant colors made me feel like I was at a restaurant right off the beach! Since I have a plant-based diet, I was excited to see they had a specific section on the menu for vegetarians. I had the veggie enchiladas and subbed the white sauce for green sauce. Most Mexican restaurants only offer cheese-stuffed enchiladas instead for no-meat eaters, so I was pleasantly surprised by this option. They were delicious! Now, I make my enchiladas at home the same way, with yellow squash, zucchini, and onion. The side of rice and beans were well seasoned. I recommend getting a glass of their horchata. The service was great, everyone was welcoming. They had mentioned they have an area in the back to host any birthday or celebration dinners. Definitely my new go-to for Mexican food in Bakersfield!

The food was tasty and the service was still great at the end of the night. Of course, they were dog friendly, as advertised, with a reasonable sized patio out in front but off the street.

I ordered the Mariscos Poblano is one of the most incredible seafood dish I have ever had!! The creamy chile poblanos sauce was one of the most unique sauces I've ever had!!

The food was outstanding, especially the mole enchiladas and the queso fundido and also the trio of enchiladas. Service was both quick and friendly. A lovely neighborhood restaurant.

Best Mexican food outside of Mexico! The poblano and also the plantain tacos were to die for! Great stop on the way to Death Valley.

We loved this place so much that we planned our Staff Holiday Party here. We had the patio reserved for us which was nice and private. The buffet dinner was for 25 people and the servers served us. We had small portions and there wasn't enough for seconds. Then I found a fly on the bottom of my enchilada, thank god it fell out of my fork before I was able to take a bite. I let the server know and he was sort of sorry, but they didn't seem too worried about the dead fly and said it was cause of the tray. I was shocked they didn't offer anything so I asked what can be done, and they comped two shots from earlier that night. I'm sure I've ate a fly before, but was not expecting it to come from one of the restaurants I always recommend to people..

Food is bland. Service was good. Limited menu. Drinks were subpar. Ambiance was nice.

Never disappointed Excellent Service and Delicious food... our treat, our go to when in town. Love the crispy Tacos.. combo plates the fact they have cactus makes me happy and I absolutely love Mexican culture. Respect.

Cold, rainy day and we wanted to have some posole, and decided to try out Nuestro. Sometimes it's hard to find someone that carries it during the week so we were very happy Nuestro had it. My son has the street tacos and they did not disappoint, lots of steak, and generous portions. My posole was delicious! The service is always great and even though the restaurant was full we had a great experience! We will be back

We enjoy the ambience! It's sexy, yet comfortable. But the food is the star of the show. My favorite is Chile Escudado. A shrimp and cheese stuffed chile with a lovely Smokey white sauce. Its flavors are delicate and beautiful. It's not covered in a batter of eggs and flour. Hence the name. My husband enjoys the corn tequila. Nixta. He says it's flavor is unique and nice to sip. It's not a tequila that is shot, but sipped to enjoy the complex flavor. The service is alway friendly and welcoming. It's a place where one takes their time to enjoy the ambiance, service and the authentic Mexican food from Mexico City.

I Am Having The Pozole With Corn Tortillas, My Fiancée Is Having A Cheese Enchilada, With A Carne Asada Crispy Taco Combo With Rice And Beans. And Kryschan Is Having The Mariscos Poblanos..!! We eat here a lot. There's a good reason for that. The food is really, really good. The service is always friendly and attentive. The joint itself is kind of strange, but don't let that put you off . Fresh salsa. House made tortillas. The food is really, really good.

Stopped in here for a quick bite for lunch. They have affordable and delicious lunch specials. We were greeted promptly and sat immediately at around 12:30 pm on a Thursday. I love the atmosphere and it has a lot of cozy areas to sit. I ordered the pozole and two shredded beef tacos. The beef tacos were nothing special but that pozole was amazing! It was so flavorful and rich. I would order that every time! My husband's chile verde burrito was flavorful and they got his order right because he can't have cheese. There was a waiter whose name I didn't catch and he was so sweet. He never let our drinks empty and I don't think I ever saw him stop moving. This is a great place to get an amazing, and flavorful meal.

Amazing food. Also, the owners daughter welcomed us warmly when we arrived and didn't stop serving and even deep cleaning tables. The entire staff was friendly and excited about us visiting the restaurant and helped us order EXCELLENT FOOD!

Yet another old time favorite that I have not been to in years since I stopped working downtown. While a lot has changed in the surrounding area, I'm glad to see ... and taste, that Nuestro has maintained its great food quality and fast, casual service and ambiance. Decided to practice self-care today and treated myself to a pre-Mother's Day lunch by myself. I opted for one of the lunch specials to keep the meal light because I wanted to indulge in a dessert treat afterwards. I chose the filet of fish with white rice, side of corn and pot beans. While I waited for main dish, the bowl of freshly fried tortilla chips and salsa begged me to munch on them. The salsa was thick and had a good amount of heat, which kept me reaching for more. My main of fish filet was slightly pan seared and came with a special sauce. What I appreciated very much is that they always serve pot beans and it's not just boiled beans like in other places. It looks like it has pico de gallo within the beans and it's served warm in a bowl with a bit of melted cheese on top. I capped it off with the Mexican flan that came with a cream sauce on the side. However, kI much preferred the natural syrup that the caramel created. While the temptation was there to finish the entire dessert, I thought about practicing self-care and stopped halfway through the plate. Nice way to end a busy workweek and a nice way to welcome the special weekend.

Let me start by saying during my brief couple of days I was in Bakersfield, this was the best place I ate and their prices are super reasonable. Although it wasn't a five star experience, their trio enchiladas were, for the most part, excellent. Just $21.95 got me three enchiladas (one chili verde, one chicken, and one beef) with a side of rice and beans. The chicken, and chili verde enchiladas were amazing! Unfortunately, the beef enchilada was over seasoned and over cooked. Additionally their rice and beans were just ok and their salsa tasted very green and seedy. It was the right level of spicy but the flavor just wasn't quite there. The restaurant gave off fun vibes. A mix of classic Latin diner with a fusion of dia de los muerte and a hint of what's likely a cool spot to grab a drink in the later hours of a weekend evening. Our server was nice and welcoming. She greeted us at the door, seated us in a private area near the rear exit, and served us until the moment we settled up and were heading out. Although she was attentive to our drink refills, she fell short in the other areas. The only other issue I had was our bill included a mandatory 18% large party gratuity. While I understand the need for these type of things, we weren't really a large party. We were a few smaller 2-4 person groups running different tabs. We just went to lunch together while attending an event at the nearby Mechanics Bank Center. Mandated gratuity always offends me! It's pushy and not ok. Funny thing is everyone in our party would have paid more, but if you're going to force me to pay a specific percentage then I'm not adding to it. You asked for what you wanted and you got it. My only regret is not trying the watermelon margarita. The pictures and other reviews make it look and sound fire.

This place is always amazing. The service is wonderful, the staff is so nice and accommodating, and they had our table ready on Mother's Day when we got there. This place will always be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Thank you so much for a delicious lunch!

Small, but solid spot. Love that they include cactus and other squash in their sautee. Tortillas looked handmade and tasted yum. Rice was on the dry side but still flavorful. Food came out piping hot and pretty good. Minus one star because I ordered shrimp fajitas and a piece of beef came in mine (I don't eat beef). Everything else was great (service, food, etc)

Small little restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was very good. We had the combo fajitas and a side order of ceviche. Came out with warm tortillas that I swear were the best I've ever had. No sour cream or cheese with them, but did get guacamole. Service was very slow. If you are in a hurry or on a lunch break I wouldn't recommend. We say for 20 minutes waiting for our order to be taken. Once it was taken food came out quickly. Took another 15 minutes for us to get the check when done. Worth a visit, just plan to have time to wait.

Shrimp tacos!! That's all I need to say. If you love Shrimp like I do, you must go and get their shrimp tacos, paired with a margarita in the rocks and you are eating like royalty.

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would! The care & service they give their customers is perfect. The dining area is simple & cozy. Their food is phenomenal. The steak on street tacos had amazing flavor & tenderness. The best I've ever had on street tacos. Will definitely return next time I'm in town.

Best Mexican food ever. Service was spot-on. I had the chile rellano rice and beans. It was delicious along with the cheese and cilantro taquitos. Highly recommend.

The entire staff at Nuestro Mexico is friendly and accommodating. Pepe, the owner, really knows how to make you feel welcome. We've been going to Nuestro Mexico forever. It started as La Costa and when those owners wanted a bigger restaurant, they left this downtown location to Pepe. We quite like the "feel" of the smaller place. While the metal chairs don't look that comfortable, they are really not that bad. We ordered the chicken fajita "sin cebolla", without onions. Be warned: they don't just make the fajita without onions, they give you extra bell pepper and squash. You also get chips and salsa as part of your meal. The chicken is tender, mildly spiced, with both colors of bell, and squash. Served with rice and beans with pico de gallo and a little guacamole, and a slice of lemon. While we didn't partake this time, Nuestro Mexico is a great place to enjoy a margarita, too. One of our favorite things is to start at Nuestro and head over to Maya Theater, just south on "Q" Street, for a movie.

I've stopped by here a couple times on road trips and it's such a gem. Always great food and great service and around Halloween they had fun spooky themed cocktails. Love it!

What a superb restaurant! Blew our minds with the food and service. Such an unassuming place but we landed there thanks to the Yelp reviews. The manager was extremely friendly with great suggestions in food and drink, all of which were lipsmackingly delicious. I don't live in the area but look forward to visiting this place again.

We enjoy eating here at least twice a month. Their food, service, and ambiance is great. The patio is pet friendly so we bring our pup with us every time.

Seen this review from my house in Covina and had to take a drive to go check this place out! What caught my attention was the chile encuerado. Im a sucker for authentic Mexican food... so there we went!! Arriving the place looked closed but clean on the outside. The eight pod looked chill so we waited 2-3 minutes, people came out and other cars started arriving. Within ten minutes of arriving to only two tables being serviced ended up being a full house. Definitely a good sign. !! We ordered the 3 enchilada combo, 3 item combo, side of guacamole and shared an albondigas soup. Everything hot, tested GREAT!! I find the drive here relaxing and the trip well worth it! Service was quick, polite, inviting for any questions and one of the owners even came up for a intro and explained in detail to what a Chile encuerado was... I'll have it next time since I'm a sucker for my favorite/ chile relleno! Thanks for the great meal and experience! Trio EnchiladasSalsa and Chips

Service was friendly and attentive and helpful as we navigated an amazing menu. The salsa was tasty and the shrimp scampi tacos were amazing! I had the plantain tacos which were pretty good! Their beans that came with the tacos were super delish. Great spot!

We don't live in Bakersfield but this is our 2nd year going there for a convention. We found this restaurant last year and it was so good that this year we went twice. The second time we had a table of 10 people most of whom are of Me I a decent. They were blown away. The street tacos are great. The carne asada was so, so good. Everyone ordered something different and everyone loved it. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

The Food and Service were Amazing. The reviews are spot on! We were traveling through Bakersfield, but will definitely go back if we're in the area again.
