The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings in October | Eater DC

"The Lagos-based, fast-casual concept opens its first U.S. location inside the Square with warm bowls and toasted wraps built around nutrient-rich African ingredients sourced from the DMV. The menu reflects culinary traditions from across the continent, including Mediterranean and Indian influences; freshly baked naan around the wraps nods to the Indian diaspora, with best sellers like the Naanini and Naan Pepper wraps." - Emily Venezky

I got the Africa Magic Bowl and added Avocado for good measure. The service was great from the lady who took my order to the delivery point. From entry to exit, it took barely 15 mins to get attended to and I returned to my office for a hearty lunch. The jollof along with the plantain was really tasty and the combination with the avocado and salad made the trip from Rosslyn to Nuli worthwhile!! I’ll be back sooner than you think!

Affordable, healthy, quick, and good -- a rarity in this city. I got a small bowl of chicken and jollof rice. The spice was present but not overbearing. Greens were high quality. Plantains were a good mix between starchy and sweet. The rice was the highlight, and I'll come back to try the other grains.

I had the chicken with joloff rice, plantins, with red pepper sauce it was super flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. Had a hibiscus pineapple with ginger juice that went perfectly to washv it down. I will eat there again.

Super fresh food. Friendly quick service. The jollof rice is sooooooo good omg. Just the right amount of spice and flavor along with the pepper sauce. Definitely coming back to try more stuff.

Not a fan of the fried rice or beef patty. 1 star for the hibiscus drink.

Yelp
Really enjoyed visiting Nuli during their soft opening! There are laminated menus available up at the counter with their options. All of the staff was super friendly and welcoming! I tried the Africa Magic bowl, which came with fried plantains, salad mix, and a rice base (I chose smoky jollof, which was incredible and so flavorful- it had a really nice spice). I also added sweetcorn and carrots for an additional charge. You can choose your own protein (each is priced separately). I chose tandoori chicken, which was also delicious. I think my bowl was supposed to come with a sauce and I'm not sure it was included (if it was, it was pretty light, so I might just ask for extra next time), but it was honestly flavorful enough without it. The portion for the large bowl was really generous, and the bowl itself was so good! The combination of flavors was so different from other fast casual chains, and the jollof rice was an incredible base. Can't wait to try some of their other items!

Yelp
Came during soft opening and wanted to really like this place. The cashier was very friendly and knowledgeable. Got an African Magic Bowl with Jollof Rice and Chicken and added Vegetables and Sauce for extra cost. It came out pretty pricey for a small portion and the add-ons... The food was fine - nothing too special. The Nuli Zobo was too pineapple forward instead of hibiscus. Maybe there will be more improvements, but I will probably not come back for a bit :/

Yelp
Welcome to D.C., Nuli! Currently in their soft launch phase, this Nigerian chain offers wraps, bowls, salads, and cold-pressed juices! Their menu serves diverse dietary needs, such as dairy-/gluten-/nut-free options, as well as plant-based items. We had the Pasta Magic (jollof-flavored pasta), the melted beef naan wrap, the Naanini Wrap, and their smoothies. Everything was fresh and well-prepared! Staff were friendly, and the orders came out quickly. Located at The Square food hall, this is their first U.S. location out of Lagos. Limited metered parking can be found in the area. +wraps, bowls, salads, and drinks +friendly service +located at The Square +limited metered street parking available

Yelp
Man I was craving Jollof rice so bad, and I first came here during Veterans Day. Right when I got there, the cashier told me they were closing early to my disappointment. I talked to other non food vendors at the Square, and they recommended Nuli. So I came back to try their "African Magic Bowls" and it didn't disappoint. Definitely best use of base rice I've ever had in a fast casual, their jollof rice was some of the best I've had. Perfectly textured and cooked, great spices, and it matched so well with the plantains, belle peppers, and beef meatballs. Ask for their hot sauce. Would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
I had to get something to eat from Nuli when I walked by and smelled the amazing smells! I had the Africa Magic Bowl with jollof rice and feisty chicken. So delicious! It was very flavorful and a good balance of spiciness. I wish there was a location near me!
