NY Cake

Big dissapointment for me. I was looking forward to this store. Little old fashion and messy in the store but the worst was the customer service. The girl does not belong to the store. Had no idea about ultra thin decorating pen and no interest in helping or being enthusiastic. Get another employee. The other man at least tried to help. I came all the way from Europe to buy things for decorating..shame.

Pretty amazing store despite the staff ignoring you... went here three times, all those times I needed assistance looking for items had to "hunt down" a staff member myself only for them to tell me I would have to order the item I wanted online due to it being out of stock which is understandable, BUT! I found everything else I was looking for! They have a wide variety of molds, edible pigment, chocolate, colorful candy melts, and every baking supply and decoration you can think of, made some pretty good holiday desserts thanks to their supplies!

You can find basically anything you need from ingredients, modules, baking supplies, to decorations in this amazing shop. I was so impressed by the variety of products. Staffs are welcoming and attentive. I was offered help by an employee while walking around which is a nice gesture. Great service. Lovely place.

I was on my way to a bakery but had to make a stop at NY bake to get some candles. To my surprise, they added a NY Bake Cafe where I was welcomed beautifully. I took a risk to ask for a last min cake, and to my surprise, they went above and beyond to not only help me but to make my special cake super special. They were honest, helpful & tasteful I the way they elaborated my vision. The cake was a hit to the bday boy, and the flavor, as simple as vanilla can be, was extremely delicious! Highly recommend them & I'm sure your experience will exceed your expectations. Thank you for your help! P.s. Cannot wait to try their goods.

They have everything and are one of NYC’s treasures. Skip the big box store and shop at the real deal. Helpful, friendly staff, too!

I ordered from NY Cakes because it’s a specialty store but I do not appreciate my food supplies being opened and repackaged in not original packaging without any labels. I expect original packaging and will not order again because items could be adulterated.

Bad customer service. Ordered 2 cutters online, and they did not have one after I ordered it and did not notify me it was out of stock. Instead sent me another in its place that I already have 5 of. I ordered specifically for this shape. The customer service rep was rude and insulting. I will not order again, and that's disappointing bc I have used NY Cakes for alot of my supplies.

I'M A KID AT A CANDY STORE WITH THIS PLACE! 😊 Loved how organized and spacious it is! Today is the grand opening since the relocation and they're having a 10% OFF sale!! I was greeted by staff very warmly and Emma helped me with everything I needed! When you walk in don't forget to check out their NEW BAKERY to the left! 😱 I'm in heaven with this place!!! I saw a Tik Tok on this place and wanted to check it out when I was in NYC. It was open on a Sunday and was empty when we arrived, unfortunately a big birthday party of kids entered about 5 mins after we got there, but they were corralled into the baking room while we shopped. There are all kinds of fun things for the avid baker and lots of fun stocking stuffers or little favors for parties if your crowd likes to cook. There are more cookie cutters than you have ever seen in one place, so if you are looking for something specific, they probably have it.

Novice/amateur home baker here. Review is for retail, not for classes. I needed cake rounds, a cake box, clear imitation vanilla, and skinny candles to make my own birthday cake and this place had it all + way more. Staff were very warm and friendly not only to me, but also other patrons. Will come back here for more cake rounds and boxes in the future.

This place has everything you need to decorate sumptuous cakes but the staff I interacted with were painfully snobby. Okay I get it, your cake don't stink, but cut a girl a break with the attitude! In summary, great for cake decorators, not so great if you think we're all in this together so be nice. You decide!

The 4-stars is for the store size, product diversity and the helpfulness of the staff overall. However, this place has a crazy high mark-up for its items. As a hobbyist cake and treats baker, I can't imagine utilizing this place regularly. I mean no disrespect but it's not a store I can comfortably shop in knowing the same item is priced cheaper (even at 10%) somewhere else. Then, I would like to speak on the cleanliness of the store. It's neat but very dusty and some of the items discounted look obviously old and "outdated". My personal score of the establishment: 2/5 However, if you're in a pinch and need something today, I truly believe they may have it.

For years, this business has been my go-to place to pick up baking items. (Including back when their location was elsewhere nearby!) I'm so glad they sell things like paper loaf pans of different sizes (some aren't listed on their online catalog btw), plastic containers for things like cakes or bundts, a variety of cake circles, and cake boxes of all sizes! Same with candy/treat bags/boxes. Personally, it's been perfect to be able to buy these things affordably and individually as needed. Sprinkles varieties. Coloring gels. Melting chocolates varieties. And more. Highly recommend!

Todays project is Easter cookies. When we made Christmas cookies last December I needed a few sprinkles etc. Totally forgot about NY Cake and went to Michael's. Slim pickings there. A few days ago I went to NY Cake for Easter cookie decorations. Wow! Everything I needed was there in triplicate. If you bake then NY Cake is The Place to go. Amateur or professional you will not leave empty handed. See pictures. We aren't artists but we expect the kids to enjoy these "creations".

Took a class there. Really lived the hands on instruction. The teacher is lovely aa is staff.

Along a quiet commercial section of West 22nd Street is this gem of a confectionary institution. NY Cake is the premier location for cake concocting individuals in New York City. The interior is bright, spacious and full of holiday cheer. We visited in Mid-November and the decorations were just coming up. Entering into this establishment one feels like they were transported into the set of a Hallmark holiday movie, complete with cake-making classes. There are three principal sections for patrons--the market for confectionary supplies, the cafe and classes. Don't be surprised while you are visiting if you hear the rhythmic tapping of eager studies trying to craft a savory delight. We tried the NY Hot Chocolate and Heath Bar Crunch. With regards to the former, it was very nice to be asked for milk preference--almond and oat options are available for those who don't do dairy. The Heath cookie was a delicious treat filled with tasty pieces of the namesake ingredient. NY Cake surely is a destination, and surely needs to be on your list this holiday season, especially for those who love baking, desserts, and all things sweet.

I was recommended this place by a cashier at Trader Joe's from around the corner. Not only do they have a great selection of baking/decorating/confectionery supplies, they also have a cafe area (though it was unmanned when I came) and a large space reserved for classes. I do think there is a slight markup on prices. They sell Valrhona fèves at $22.99/lb whereas Whole Foods stocks them for $18.99/lb. There is a larger variety of fèves and wafers and melting chocolates available than I've seen anywhere else though.

Unless you need something ASAP, don't bother coming here. Everything is SO overpriced. I came in because I needed tart rings and on their website, a 3" is $3.00 and a 4" is $3.50 which was actually cheaper than the prices on Amazon. When I went in the store, the prices for the rings were stickered $3.59 and $3.99 respectively which doesn't make sense at all since they are a NY-based company and obviously shipping from NY so why are there price discrepancies? Blows my mind.

So grateful for to the warm and knowledgeable staff at NY Cake. They had the right tools for the job and helped me in a creative pinch. Open early on Sunday was an amazing, added plus. TY!

Until three or four years ago, this business was located in a crowded, dingy, poorly lit space. It didn't matter, though, because the people who worked there knew the inventory, the names and uses of the tools they sold, and where on the sales floor it was kept. Then they moved into the space they occupy now. It is light and airy, with lots of space, a beautiful demonstration kitchen, and house made candy and baked goods for sale. Unfortunately, the larger space did not result in more or better inventory; if anything, they culled many things from their store. They also got rid of anyone who could help customers with questions requiring more knowledge than where in the store cookie cutters are located. I've been baking for over 50 years, and while I've never done so professionally, I have made professional-level wedding and event cakes. What I mean to say is that I'm not the one-cake-a-year from a boxed mix type of home baker. I know what I'm doing. Which is why it is so frustrating to go in there asking for, say, invert sugar, and have the employee stare as though you just dropped in from Mars. And if they don't have something, they rarely know whether it is something they don't carry, or something they're temporarily out of. And if the latter, they can't tell you when - or if - they might have it back in stock. Moreover, I've yet to have an employee offer to try to get more information for me, let alone find out if what I need can be special-ordered. And don't bother asking a clerk what the difference is between two products, unless you want them to read the text on the packages to you. It would have been great if they'd spent less on the shiny new kitchen, and concentrated on what products to carry and staff who know the products.

In its former location this place was dirty and the service bordered on outright hostile, but at least they had stuff one might need. Now the only items worth purchasing are much more easily found online...like Guittard chips...but the dearth of anything else unusual or interesting makes the trip there A TOTAL AND COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

My teen loves to bake and we stopped in here to see if we could find anything new and different for her. First the store is moving soon, they don't know where but they do have an email sign up to notify you of their new address. I'm hoping in the new spot they have a bit more room as this spot is quite tight and stuffed to the brim. It made it hard to get around or to look for things if someone was trying to get by you in the aisle. They do have a lot of decorating supplies as well as baking items. I understand they also give classes too. Good shop if you're a baker.

I hate coming here because 1. Everyone that works here is RUDE!! It's a Cake supply store!! like what is there really to be miserable about?? 2. Everything is doubled in price. The only way you would catch me in here is IF I have a rush order and need something right away. Yes all the reviews on here are repetitive but its the truth. I honestly prefered the old location it seems like they had way more to offer. I asked a lady if she worked there she said yes, I then proceeded to ask a question and she walked away from me into the back and closed the door and never came back out!! I then proceeded to ask the same question to someone at the register she seemed hesitant but finally helped me get my answer. Hey if this is what your into, then go for it! Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm not a pro baker by any means, but I always find what I need here. And I've only ever encountered very friendly staff.

Good place to get all your baking needs. Price is okay and moderate, not too expensive, but not that cheap...its just affordable. Good place to look for ideas, and maybe order somewhere else where prices at in your range.

Smells pretty good in here, I think most of the pastries were overpriced. I think you'll be able to find some unusual baking needs in this place, like weirdly shaped pans and edible cake decorations.

Moved to a new store - same old........ Don't the owners understand the CUSTOMER SERVICE and PERSONALITY is where it is at???? I went into the new store. It is tucked away in a new location. No outward signs or banners to indicate the new store. Store is beautiful, but I am SURE the prices can only raise. Went to make a purchase - lots of items had not pricing on them. Asked one of the personnel, I was told, "it can't be more than $3.99." This is why people turn to Amazon. You're not going to do the business and volume you need to keep this place going. I would have thought the enthusiasm of a new store would have allowed you to expand your customer services. You need to take some courses in Customer Care, Customer Appreciation, Customer Service. If not, you'll be out of business before long. Your new store cannot be cheap.

Places like these really makes you appreciate the wonder of technology that is online shopping. As silly as it is, I needed a bottomless cylinder to shape my summer pudding. A cylinder that happened to be $11. It's just... a metal ring. It actually reminded me of something Alton Brown said at his book signing "I'll go to a hardware store before entering to a culinary store." Words to live by. At the register, the lady beside me ask the cashier for square cookie cutters. I was actually in here some years ago looking for the same thing and a heart cutter... you'd think something so simple, they'd just have it. WELL YOU THOUGHT WRONG! The cashier turned to ask her coworker if they had any, and ever so eloquently, he gave her a face that could only mean "how would I know!?" (I said it little more ghetto in my head). I dunno, maybe because you work here? It also didn't help that everyone carried the demeanor of contempt, as if at any moment they'd be jobless. I know the robots will eventually take all of our jobs away but come on, give me a smile. Or at least a discount.

This store will likely have your baking needs. The prices are higher which is expected given where the shop is located. If you have the time to shop around, do so for better prices. Otherwise, you'll pay the premium to buy what you need in one shop or at the last minute. The staff is oddly quiet and awkward. They will help you but they don't really talk _to_ you, if that makes sense. There's also an intimidating security guard posted at the door. I didn't realize cake supplies were such a hot item.

Bakers: Welcome to our house of worship! NY Cake is amazing! But before coming to check this place out, I had read the Yelp reviews, and I was scared. I expected a tiny shop with employees waiting to bite your head off. So going in with this expectation, I was pleasantly surprised. For a baking supply store, the space is HUGE. Yes, the aisles are a bit tight and the store a bit cramped, but that's because there is just so much baking goodness here. I loved that everywhere I turned, I saw something new and intriguing to ogle over. The service was non-existent, but I preferred it as such. I liked being able to mill around at a snail's pace, checking everything out, without being asked incessantly, "Can I help you find something?" From baking pans to cookie cutters to edible glitter, NY Cake has it all. For an amateur baker like me, there's lots to discover. Yes, the prices are steep here, even compared to other baking supply stores. For the location and the selection, this is to be expected. But for this reason, NY Cake will probably remain my last-resort spot if I can't find what I'm looking for anywhere else.

I finally decided to step inside this small shop...it was pretty tightly packed from floor to ceiling but I must say if you like baking for fun it had so many cute decorations to chose from! Sprinkles, flowers, themed decorations etc. SO CUTE! I picked up those tiny little silver balls, candles and an ice cream scooper for my cupcakes and it was over $20...a bit expensive if you ask me. However, I think if you like to decorate it is an awesome little shop. Customer service is nonexistent though.

I am very impressed with their customer service team, their owner went above and beyond for me today! Thank you so much for all of your help in getting me the Sea Shell molds I needed. I love this place. They have everything I need for baking and despite other reviews it is fairly priced for the product quality. If you're wanting super cheap bakeware then go to amazon and see the quality in your bakes, but the stuff sold here is great! Staff aren't overbearing and when I have a question are quick up help, maybe it's me being a New Yorker I just don't expect overly friendly service and am thankful for the space to browse and take my time!

We feel really sad about our holiday sugar cookies. $5 per cookie and the designs are not as intricate as the ones we saw in the display case. We feel we overpaid a lot. We also asked for one of each kind and got 3 of each kind. They are nice but look like something we could have bought for a lot less!!! We were expecting something unique and custom and these look pretty typical.

This place is a disaster area. Everything is SUPER overpriced. Customer service is terrible/non existent. When you do get someone to talk to you, they act as though you are bothering them. Dont attempt to talk to anyone in the new kitchen area, they are way too important to talk to customers. Speaking of the kitchen area, one of the workers had his McDonalds out next to a cake he was decorating. Disgusting. Look at the corners and under the tables, you'll see how often they clean their kitchen. While I hadn't eaten anything there, bc of the lunch eating, I did get a coffee which tasted burnt. I asked the employee about it, Stephanie, and she said they clean the espresso machines weekly. WEEKLY. She said it proudly. Disgusting.

Do not bother coming here. People really don't care to help and they don't have a return policy, just exchanges. I bought a piping bag and a thermometer just for a pot luck and ended up not needing either. I don't do any extensive baking so I had no idea what useful items to exchange for. The next time you wonder why people end up shopping on Amazon and have to close a brick and mortar shop, this would be a good reason. Like I said, don't bother.

For several years I have been going to the NY Cake store to fulfill my needs of various baking equipment and ingredients that are not normally found in most markets. NY Cake is conveniently located on 22th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in its newer and more spacious location. Earlier this week I made a stop for the coveted melting chocolate and in search of hazelnut extract as I had not been able to find this item in various markets. To my delight NY Cake came through once again and not only had both of these items but also offered a wide selection of items in both departments. So many times, I run into a panic this time of the year looking for items which range from cookie cutters to green/red sprinkles or in this case hazelnut extract. Each time I have been able to find this needed item at NY Cake! It eases the stress of the moment and is a comfort to know the odds of finding the "Holy Grail" of baking items will be at the one and only NY Cake store!

I NEED a baking supply store, and this is the only one in Manhattan that I am aware of. If not for that, I'd never return. The selection is excellent. 4 stars on that factor. The store maintenance/atmosphere is not great - leaks, unkempt in places, crowded. I'd still give it a 3 star rating though, because they are able to cram a lot into a little space. The store is overpriced. 2 stars. The staff is 1 star. Miserable (with the exception of the one cashier - quiet latina - who is as friendly and timid as can be). They always seemed a bit rude, but this has escalated lately. Earlier this week I was there and a woman standing about 2 feet from me asked an employee a question about making royal icing. He just said "buy our premade royal icing" and walked away without looking back. At this point, she and I made eye contact and I helped answer her questions and guide her as to what she'd need. This is a BAKING store, not a "buy premade stuff" store - that kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think? Yesterday I was back and walked in to hear SCREAMING. This continued for at least 5 minutes, so who knows how long it was in total. This was an old man, seems to be the store owner, on the phone with someone and he was obviously not happy. The screaming included really pleasant comments such as, "I'll punch you in the face!" Why and how he thought this was appropriate to do at high decibels on the sales floor when about 20 customers were present is beyond me. And the rest of the staff pretended that it wasn't happening. Brilliant. That was what would, under any other circumstance, be my last straw. Please, if anyone knows where else I can go to get my goods, do let me know. Addendum: their in-store prices are approximately 15% higher (give or take) than their online prices. Never mind matching competition, this store doesn't even match their OWN prices! What's up with that???

New York Cake is a good place to see all things baking in one compact location. They have food coloring, edible glitter, colored powder, all sorts of cake boxes, and pans in unusual shapes, just to name a few items. However, it's far too expensive. Everything costs 30% more at this store. In contrast, you can get things 30-40% *OFF* at Michael's. 40% off a single item or 30% off the entire purchase. As a result, it's double the price. The convenience might be worth 10-20% more, but not 100% more. It's way off. $1.30 (30% more) .60 (40% off) See, it's more than double the price. The one advantage they could have as a store instead of online is with service. However there is no customer service. I was there for half an hour and not once did someone greet me or ask if I needed help. I got stared down when I first walked in. I wandered in, looked down at my phone to see my shopping list, and looked up to see a woman staring grimly at me from behind the counter. They have a little office area there and all four of the staff stay there. The person at the register did at least say "thanks have a nice day." But I mean really. When a place is so cold and unfriendly that you notice when someone says or does anything at all, that is a problem. I would love to support a little shop over a big box retailer or the internet store, but they are just charging too much and are not even personable to make up for it.

Six glorious years and a handful of visits and calls later, this place still needs some SERIOUS help with their customer service. Since my first visit, I have never asked anyone for help ever again unless I couldn't reach something. They used to store their boxes in the back, and you'd have to ask an employee to help you out, and those dudes were always nice. Their boxes are laid out on the shelves now. The cashier ladies in the front? Not so much, people. They hate their jobs, lives and everything in between. Plan your visit with ample time because they are not kidding about their closing time. I get it, trust me, I do, but do you really need to be nutcases about it? They pretty much lock the door before the shop is closed and you feel trapped in this antsy tense baking hell. I called with a question, was told my answer, and as soon I said "oh okay, thanks," I was hung up on more quickly than you'd drop a wrong number. Damn, that stung. I don't know if Whisk has the same selection at their locale down the road, but their customer service on the phone was the exact opposite and thus warrants a visit instead. Plus, the box I wanted is cheaper at Whisk by 50 cents.

This shop has an amazing selection of baked goods- and confection-geared items! It's a good sized store, brimming with products, both edibles (some stock items like Callebut (white, milk, and semisweet, $99/lb) and Valhrona (bittersweet, $15/lb, unsweetened, $19/lb) chocolate and royal icing mix, and things like this) and utensils (for shaping, cutting, manipulating, and cooking anything sweet). The edibles are very reasonably priced. The equipment prices are a bit inflated, but not so badly that I'll remove a star. I came here to buy cannoli forms (essentially, pieces of metal pipe), of which they had several sizes, in both aluminum and steel from the looks of it, and a round pastry cutter (also varied sizes, but all steel). I ended up getting a lb of the aforementioned chocolate (bittersweet), and some stainless steel muffin tins (it's almost impossible to find such bakeware that is neither nonstick nor aluminum). This is the the type of store, along with grocery stores and larger bodegas, that I should probably only enter with a set amount of money and time, because otherwise eons pass while I thoroughly go through the store and find a gazillion things I must taste or add to my cluttered cabinet tops, to use once or twice in some elaborate baking project. So perhaps it was fortunate that I was in a hurry, but I know I will return and spend the sort of money normal women spend on handbags and shoes. Well, I am gaining ground on the shoes part... Note: they do not accept returns here. All sales are final. ETA: I returned and spent over $100. Egads. I better make some people damn happy, or at least type-II diabetic.

I come here a lot for baking materials last minute. Great selections. But sometimes it is pricey compare to online or other places. Still it's close by so it's a good place to go for selections of things.

They have the most extensive inventory in town for baking supplies, cake making, decorating, candles, etc. Been coming here for years. Customer Service could be improved, but I'm pretty self-sufficient so it doesn't matter in my case.

I was just passing by and I long as I love baking so much entered this place) locely choice of everything you can imaging for baking at home as well as professional one! Cannot tell you anything about the price as don't know market prices for these things, but culinary masterclasses are expensive enough, starting from 75$ (for kids) but around 200$ mostly

Baking lover can find almost anything you can imagine for baking, the door of the store is very hidden, that's why I never noticed it until I was looking for it by address, I passed by it all the time! Inside was not fancy, you may think it has a 99cents store feel, however, it's interesting since it satisfies all your need and inspires you at some point. It's cheap compared to Williams-Sonoma, however, it's not that cheap, in fact, it's not 99 cents store. Pay a visit if you can, you will be happy as I was.

This store is great for a lot of last min things but the staff is rude don't bother calling this store if u have questions about an specific item like bro it's a cake store how hard can your job be ppl just be so miserable and sometimes the owner/boss answers the phone and she's rude as well the amount of money I spent coming into this store It's sad to say I won't be returning.

Stepping into this shop, I thought I was in a warehouse. There were bins and bins of practically every utensil needed for cake baking throughout the store. It's definitely a one-stop store if you were looking to decorate any cake. Sadly, the prices were not warehouse prices. It costs a moderate $3 for a small cookie cutter. Strangely, all prices seem cheaper online than in store. Considering the time spent searching the store for items and the unhelpful staff, it may be less of an hassle to just order online if you have time to wait for it to arrive.

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BETTER THERE BY 1000% I am a home baker who went to a professional baking school and externed for a popular bakery by the name of a famous Chef. I know the pastry chef would always go to NY Cake and Co to purchase items he needed, so I assumed this would be a very good place to shop for my baking needs...not the case...but I was checking today to see if NY Cake and Co's new location was open, and then I decided to read the reviews and something just irked me, which was the fact that this place has many negative reviews with googler's who liked the negative reviews and the fact that the 5 star rating were the only ones that NY Cake and Co responded to publicly and I'm sure any of the 5 star ratings with 1 like is by the company. And if you have an issue with customer service, why would you give it more than 2 stars? Even if it has everything you want...I will share 3 instances in which I was not satisfied with the staff and owner... 1. I took a class there for cake decorating and the room was really tiny. Lisa the owner seemed less than enthusiastic to be there, but maybe that's just her demeanor. I don't know, she did go around to everyone which is a plus, but it just felt like she didn't really care to be there...and as we were having our class, there was an outburst by a customer who was trying to return and item, which the company would not take back because they said it was used....maybe it was, but there must be something really wrong for the customer to be so dissatisfied that you could hear her in the whole store and probably down the block. 2. I was with a friend who was purchasing A LOT! I wasn't feeling so well and since I took a class there, I asked if I could use the bathroom, the worker told me there was no bathroom and when I told him I have taken a class there before and knew there was a bathroom, he still did not allow me to use it. As a paying customer (which I have purchased items before), who knows there is a bathroom, you should just let me use it when I've caught you in your lie...which from the reviews, is obvious they do do that. 3. The last time I went to purchase items I could not find elsewhere, there was a lady who asked for an item and the worker did not know the difference between the shape of a board or a box that she needed. She went to the register and complained that the worker did not know the difference between her asking for something that is a square or a circle and suggested that he should no longer work there if he can't do something as simple as that. After she left I over heard the cashier saying that if Lisa, the owner heard about any of that, she would be furious. I agree with the customer and wanted to make a complaint, but I ended up not doing so. Some time later, I went back with my friend and the guy was still working there, barely doing anything. So Sorry Lisa, all of this really made me realize I should share my story, in hopes that you will make changes to serve your customers better. For now, I will be giving my business to Kerekes in Brooklyn. They at least have knowledgeable staff and will allow returns. I have never heard any customer outburst of any kind since I started going there. They are in the middle of no where, but at least I know I am a valued customer there, unlike at NY Cake and Co. Please get your act together for your new location.

Yipes. Due to Covid I ordered online and they messed up my order with zero communication and were not sorry in the least. Shopping in person with them is always a weirdly unpleasant experience, but at least you walk out of there with what you intended to buy! I did not realize they could give you the same inexplicably hostile shopping experience online, but somehow they manage. I don't know who peed in their cornflakes so many years ago, but I'm just about done paying the price for it.

Went in with a smile and a list and left empty handed. The store is beautiful but the prices are ludicrous. A small jar of blue sprinkles was $4.99, the same with all of the other decorating sugars, etc just as bad. The prepared pies for Thanksgiving are $45- wow! I won't be back!!!

Just dropped in today planning my brother's 50th bash and the selection is extraordinary and unique. Prices are reasonable especially when you compare to generic market cakes and pastries which are similarly priced. We were helped by the manager Lisa Mansour who really understood our project and gave us great recommendations. I work in event planning and will definitely be back!

Highway robbery. I went in to purchase some luster dust , glitter etc. I was in a rush so grabbed what i needed, went online to pay . Had to wait like 5 minutes until the cashier finally sauntered Up and just placed my items to pay . $46 later on 7 small vials of luster dust i feel robbed. The mini vials are not even filled up all the way ! Never again . Guess what guys.. You DO have competition . From now on I will be purchasing elsewhere.

I only go here because I have no other choice. Where else is there a cake supply shop in NYC?? The staff is RUDE. The guy who is always screaming if anyone needs help in the most patronizing way ever is not at all knowledgeable when it comes to cake supplies. He would rather give you wrong information than try to get someone that works there to assist. Actually, I don't think any of them actually know much. Last time I was there, an elderly lady, perhaps the owner, was F bombing and screaming at the workers there. Helps me understand why all workers look so miserable and are so unfriendly. It was uncomfortable, and unprofessional do do that on the floor in front of paying customers.

Came for cookie cutters to find a cramped space and shelves stocked with pricey products despite the inventory. One of the..cozy..aisles dead-ended at a radiator, so that was nice. There was also a sign outside for a free tasting and nothing to be sampled inside.

They have everything you could imagine for baking. Yes they even have edible sparkles. The prices arent bad. They have lots of choices of cool silicone molds for baking and for those who want to make their own chocolate creations. The whisks are definatly overpriced though... There are cool thin clear plastic cupcake holders for $1.29, i should have bought them. Cool place to go and great for everyone!

I am a regular at NY Cake- it certainly is the store to shop at for any and all cake supplies. I am disappointed in the staff, particularly the woman who works at the front desk. She is consistently unfriendly and not helpful. My most recent visit, I told her I could not find several items and asked if they had them in stock. She called for her co workers to see if they could help me, but when no one was available to help she said they were out of stock (didn't help me look or check the computer system). I continued to search and then found the items myself. Very lazy and poor customer service.
