O By Marcos Spaziani - Review - Downtown LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Any Below Deck fans out there? The chef from season 3 has come ashore and opened a restaurant in the O Hotel in DTLA. O serves a mix of Italian and Latin American dishes like arepas, lamb chops, lobster ravioli, plus cocktails like the Nutty Professo with peanut butter whiskey, and a gin-banana-guanabana called The Revival. There’s also a daily happy hour from 3-6pm with snacks like artichoke tempura and flatbread. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Cathy Park

We came here to celebrate my 11-year-old daughter’s birthday, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! Our group tried a variety of dishes, and every single one was a hit. Favorites included Full Bloom, Parlay (my daughter’s favorite—we ordered it twice!), Pulpo Libre (incredibly tender octopus), and Tostada Del Mar. The pastas (Pesto di Nello and Spaghetti al Limone) were fresh and flavorful, and the President’s Request was a juicy good sized plate. We also loved the touch of sweetness in Con Ellos. We finished every bite—including dessert! Service was outstanding. Chef Marcos stopped by to say hello, which made the evening feel extra special. And the magician, Jeff Ezell, was a huge hit—my daughter was thrilled! Delicious food, fantastic service, and an unforgettable birthday celebration. Highly recommend!

We discovered this place on Groupon because they had a date night deal. When we got there, people outside the place were very sweet and told us to go in. The interior looks really nice and when the staff came up to us to show us our table they were very polite and gave us options on where we could sit. The cocktails are actually really nice. We got the guarapita and the naked and famous . Both drinks were actually really good and not too sweet. With only the baked and famous tasting more alcoholic, but that's to be expected because it has mezcal. For food, we got the pasta dish in the garden section. If you're picky, this is a safe dish to go with. We also got the lobster ravioli from the sea section. Personally, this was my favorite dish. After that, we got the lamb dish from the land section. The only reason I put 4 stars for food is because this dish did get me sick. I can't really pinpoint why, and I don't want to spread misinformation. The dish still tasted great, but the flavors did get a bit overwhelming for me. For dessert, we got the tiramisu ice cream. This was really good, and had a lot of fun textures as well. After dinner, the chef personally came out and did card tricks for us. He was very kind and very social, so it was a great experience. Marcos was amazing. For parking, this is in the middle of LA, so I personally think parking here would be a nightmare. I usually use public transport to get around, so if you do as well, this place is so close to a metro station, so it's easily accessible

The octopus was without a doubt one of the best meals I have had. Definitely worth traveling to try.

My boyfriend and I had an exceptional experience last night! Case did a fantastic job running through the menu and gave excellent suggestions. Everyone was so welcoming! We really enjoyed everything that we ordered, but our personal favorites were the octopus, chicken and pesto pasta. We wanted to try Chef Marcos’s food after seeing him on below deck and it all lived up to the hype. We also enjoyed spending some time speaking with him after our dinner. We can’t wait to come back!

Google
One of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. I went during the soft opening month to check out the new spot and was amazing by the standard of food and quality of service. Chef Marcos was extremely personable, Chefs never come table side to check in with you anymore so it was refreshing to have that experience. Andrew the bar manager recommended the revival which I am not ashamed to say I couldn't stop drinking all night. Case the floor manager took care of us and was extremely knowledgeable in how best to guide us throughout the menu, it felt like a personal chef tasting. 100 out of 10 experience, I highly recommend!!! The arepas are out of this world!!!

Google
Excellent. Each dish has a story, the cooking and the craftsmanship of each plate is marvelous. I invited my husband here for his Bday. We had around 5 dishes and were very pleased. We visited in a random week night and were able to meet and greet chef Marcos. We will definetly come back.

Google
Truly transcending experience. Was beyond expectations. We sampled everything on the menu in a large group and just got better with every dish. Cocktails and drinks to match from the incredible bar. We will be back.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends tonight with no expectations, given that this is a rather new restaurant. The food was amazing. First, I love that the menu is small. Usually, that means that all the food is good. And IT WAS. Started off with the beet salad and artichoke tempura. Both delicious. Then we moved on to the octopus, tuna tartare, and the lobster ravioli. My favorite was the tuna tartare, it was in a bath of blood orange sauce. Bright and delicious! It was served with home made chips. We finished with the lamb chops, chicken and arepas. Don't skip the arepas. I could have eaten three servings by myself. Lastly, we tried all three desserts. My favorite was the arroz con leche. It was light and airy! Perfect end to a perfect meal. The cocktails were also delicious. My favorite was a gin banana drink. I don't remember the name, but if you like tiki drinks, this was DELIsH. The chef came out and said hello. He is a magician and did some incredible magic table side. He has a beautiful presence and blew us away.

Yelp
He opened for brunch! This time, we parked at the structure right next to the hotel where O is located -- $15 for parking. Service was top-notch as usual. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. What a great spread on the menu! Chef Marcos told us he's combining breakfast, lunch, and dinner into one impressive brunch menu -- and you can really taste the creativity. Dish#1: Fried Chicken Waffle. Belgian waffles, creme brûlée, Halal fried chicken wings, Peruvian huancaina cheese sauce, maple syrup. The next time you were there, ask what is the secret ingredient that he put in his Peruvian Huancaina cheese sauce. Dish#2: Avo Toast Homemade sourdough bread, whole smashed avocado, pickled onions, radish, fresh orange slices, feta cheese, aji verde foam, micro greens. He took this dish to a whole another level. The fresh orange slices, the foam.. it's a must try! Beautiful brick and mortar! Very romantic and modern. A place to come and enjoy a good meal with family and friends.

Yelp
Inside the O hotel in DTLA is a cool, modern restaurant by chef Marcos Spaziani. The service impeccable, we were greeted by everyone, we met the manager, his brother and can't forget chef Marcos. Our server was beyond sweet, friendly, he gave us great recommendations. Stopped by before heading home for some quick bites, drinks and dessert. His food is always fresh and delicious! I had not been to this restaurant. We had a couple of bites arepas and ceviche. The drinks were incredible, must try the guarapita if you're into tequila based drinks, and couldn't leave without trying their dessert -Her Recipe amazing cold cinnamon rice pudding. Magic! What else can chef Marcos do.... Definitely coming back. Whether your local or visiting, add this to your list of places to try!

Yelp
Great news friends! Chef Marcos is back at the original location of his restaurant with a new name and a new menu. The food is obviously as fantastic as ever. I dined solo so I did not get to indulge in many of the dishes I want to try. On this first visit, I had the lobster ravioli and it was pretty fantastic! Paired with a glass of chablis, it truly was one of the best things I have tasted moments. Please come visit! DTLA businesses have been hard hit with the current political turmoil and need our support. Chef Marcos is very passionate about his craft and creates some excellent dishes. I plan to return very soon and try as much of the menu as possible. I will definitely return and update my review. Stay tuned!

Yelp
New spot in LA, came across it and was feeling the menu, so off we went to see if the food was as good as I was hoping! Had a reservation made and we were seated right away on Friday night. Wasnt overly crowded, but it is new and will start earning a name and reputation. Itzell was taking care of us and was quick to get us water and cocktail recommendations. We started with the Revival, Nutty Professor and Guarapita. The Revival is gin based with banana syrup and key lime asking with guanabana. The initial taste feels muted with the fun coming through, but then you get the nuances of the fruit and it becomes a refreshing drink. The Nutty Professor has a peanut butter whiskey with espresso, where you get that espresso taste upfront and then peanut comes in on the back end. Also very nice. The Guarapita has tequila and passion fruit along with cointreau and sweet tea syrup. The tequila is also very forward and I felt the sweet tea syrup muted the passion fruit.. it ended up being the least favorite of the cocktails, but not a bad drink by any means. We also tried the Game Changer which has Hennessy, single malt whiskey, agave, pineapple juice and lemon. Very whiskey forward, but the agave and pineapple help cut through and gives the drink a nice overall profile For food, it is served family style for everyone to try. Con Ellos is an arepa, and, honestly, just amazing. So many flavors and textures in each bite, presentation was on point, just so very good. Would highly recommend! The Pesto di Nello is a linguine pasta with Genovese pesto and parmigiana and, again, was great. It comes with roasted pine nuts to get it texture and a crunch when and was just a great bite. Again, highly recommend! The Pulpo Libre is charred octopus with a sweet potato puree and crispy chorizo. The octopus was cooked well, maybe could have had a harder char on the outside, but still good. The puree with the chorizo was, again, great, and paired together you get a little sweet, a little salty and the flavor of the octopus... just great. The tostada El mar looks beautiful with the crisp tortilla, dressed, and sitting on top of the red snapper ceviche mixture. You make it yourself and enjoy. It didn't necessarily stand out, feeling like a ceviche tostada, but was still very tasty. Finally was the Lo Slancio Ravioli, a lobster ravioli with caramelized scallop. A lot goes on with these bites with pea puréé, brown butter citrus sauce, crispy pancetta, parsley oil, micro tarragon. Also a nice bite. Overall, new location with great food and food presentation. Staff was super nice and Itzell provided great recommendations and service. Without highly recommend O to everyone and definitely get Con Ellos and the Pesto di Nello without hesitation!

Yelp
service was too notch, everything ordered was delicious and if you're lucky you'll get a private magic show. I wasn't familiar with the chef and his reality tv stardom but my friend was a super fan. the chef couldn't be nicer. I generally try to stay away from reality tv chefs but the food is genuinely solid and restaurant is walking distance so we will definitely be back.

Yelp
The food was incredible, the service was top notch, and Marcos was amazing! The best meal! Can not wait to go back

Yelp
The pictures of the food brought me in to try the restaurant. The waitress was wonderful, very attentive and helpful. I would give her 5 stars. Unfortunately, as beautiful as the food looked, it was just ok in terms of flavor. The snapper in the ceviche was a bit chewy and the citrus completely overwhelmed any flavor. The scallop on the lobster ravioli was great! Nicely cooked and great flavor. The ravioli did not have any lobster flavor and it seemed to almost have a balsamic drizzle that really took over the dish. Also, the ravioli and scallop were so tender, I did not understand the crispy pancetta. It was a very hard bite in the midst of tenderness. The rice pudding was great and very enjoyable. The white wine was a great temp and very tasty. Staff was very nice! I do think the food was reasonably priced for a nicer dining establishment.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. This restaurant is fantastic. The food is superb. We had almost everything on the menu with a party of 10 or 11 of us and we were completely blown away by every single dish. And I mean BLOWN AWAY, most dishes were a 10/10 and others were 11s or 12s.

Yelp
Food - Chef Marcos is committed to quality ingredients as is expected from a world-renowned chef. We tried the octopus, lobster ravioli, lamb, chicken, spinach and truffle fries. I would recommend all. The octopus and chicken had a nice crispness and the chicken was quite moist. The spinach was savory with a hint of garlic. The lamb super tender. The fires crisp with a choice of ketchup and truffle aioli. Drinks - We had the Guarapita, Garden Punch and Game Changer. The first is like a nice spin on a margarita with passion fruit flavoring. The second used fresh watermelon and it was abundantly clear in the taste. The last was my partner's ddfavorite. He's trying to figure out if he can make it at home. Ambiance - It's a nice quiet spot. It has a lounge vibe in the front and more standard restaurant if you sit in the back. There's also a bar where you can hang. They also have a fireplace if the weather permits. It's very relaxed and low key - it shares a lobby with a hotel. Service - Our waiter Kace (sp?) was so attentive and willing to share his recommendations or what paired well with what. We really appreciated that. He on his own accord would grab us clean plates or silverware which we much appreciated. Just a really kind individual. Chef - Chef Marcos' story was just so inspiring and amazing and we wish him nothing but success. The meaning behind "O" and how he found his way into magic is so inspiring. We loved the magic tricks he conducted at our table. Please check out this lovely restaurant. It's perfect for date night or an outing with friends or to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion.

Yelp
If you want delicious food, great service and a very relaxing atmosphere.. go to O! We started with the From the Heart salad then shared the Ravioli and Salmon Special. The Salmon was delicious and came with a sauce that Marcos had just come up with the night before and boy was it special!! I wanted to dip everything in this sauce. I had a side of sautéed spinach and it was flavored so well. For drinks we both got an old fashioned and it was one of the best I've had to date (and I've had many). We shifted from the dining room to the front lounge area near the fire for dessert and drinks (Pessimist blend for me and Irish whiskey for the hubby). We left full and happy and are already planning our return visit to share the Tomahawk. Thanks to Chef Marcos for stopping by the table to say hello, we'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
This space has cycled through a number of restaurants that were mediocre, but this spot has me impressed with its unique take on various Venezuelan and Italian cuisines. Every dish we tried, including the hearts of palm salad, octopus, lobster ravioli, arepas, and the tuna appetizer were perfectly balanced, both with the flavor and texture of the dish. The ambiance in this location has always been excellent and won't disappoint. Now that the space has a talented chef helming the restaurant, I can highly recommend the coming here.

Yelp
Wow, for what could be a considered a "hotel restaurant" it was amazing. Don't let the ambience fool you, from presentation to taste, from start to finish, a fantastic meal. Definitely recommend this place.

Megan C.

Yelp
This restaurant is a MUST try!!! Chef Marcos took us on an amazing food journey where each and every dish was created to represent a pinnacle moment in his path to becoming a talented and successful chef! It was more than just food and, to me, this is what makes this restaurant stand out the most!

Yelp
From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is absolutely amazing, the atmosphere is so nice!!!! It's also very aesthetic for pictures and a chill, calm vibe. The food's presentation was not only beautiful but the food was soooo good!!! The service is timely and friendly, and the drinks are delicious but strong! Definitely a great new restaurant to check out in DTLA, will for sure be back and will be bringing friends! If you're looking for a lowkey restaurant with amazing everything, you gotta stop by!!

Yelp
OMG!! Amazing food. This chef should be Michelin started. I had the presidential chicken and my wife had the raviolis. Food was perfectly cooked and so tasty!! Will definitely recommend here again, the best food!!

Yelp
It was my wife's birthday yesterday and she has been waiting to visit Marco's restaurant. We had an amazing time! He even came out to greet us and take a picture which made my wife's night. Friendly staff and great food, can't wait to visit again to try more food. Thanks Marcos and staff.
