The 14 Best Bakeries in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Grab a loaf, or a few loaves, of the fresh bread at this bakery. The smell in and around the place alone makes the trip worthwhile. It specializes in “artisan sourdough and pastries” prepared in an old-world style and using Texas wheat whenever possible. Naturally that means sourdough loaves and focadcia. But there are also a array of pastries, cookies, and goodies to tempt." - Rachel Pinn

Google
The best cinnamon roll in all of Dallas is here! Pillowy soft, dense, sweet and savory. You can taste all the freshness of the ingredients. I’m genuinely shocked. I walked in here on a whim after running an errand and I’m glad I did! I had no idea of the insanely delicious pastries this place has to offer. This place is my official cinnamon roll shop 😇 The woman owner was really kind she was about to close but still let me inside without making me feel rushed and kindly explained the menu and what they are most known for and gave recommendations. Such an incredible hidden gem bread and pastry shop!

Husband and I went this Thursday and tried a variety of their pastries. They were all very delicious with the exception of their cinnamon roll and sourdough bread. The cinnamon rolls were extremely dry and the icing is more of a cream cheese icing, not really something I would've preferred. The sourdough bread was burnt and not edible. We cut completely around all the edges and made "croutons". Overall I would go back but I'll stay away from the latter.

Google
Okay I can't say enough about my initial oppression at this place! This is exactly what you would expect to see as an artisan bakery. The staff is super friendly, they were sold out of just about everything because demand is so great, but one of the most amazing things was learning that they give away some of their sourdough starter for free which is something I had actually been wanting! They're nestled right next to Oak Cliff brewery inside the Travis Street stephen, which is a collective of a number of very cool shops in a boardwalk style Warehouse adjacent to the train tracks. So cool get there now!

I've been eagerly anticipating my visit to this place, and I'm thrilled to say it exceeded my expectations. The pastry selection is incredibly diverse, with some truly unique offerings. The morning bun was a standout, with its nostalgic flavors that left me in awe. The coffee cake was another favorite, with everyone around me raving about it - and rightfully so, as it was outstanding. The perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee. I also fell in love with the sourdough. My only regret is that I don't live closer to this location, but I'll definitely be back for another visit and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Went in today for the first time and let me just say, what yall are doing here is absolutely incredible. Grabbed as many pastries as I could around 11:15, grabbed a lunch sandwich and came back home to enjoy everything. Cinnamon bun and apple puff were my absolute favorites. You’ve earned a new customer and the way you all work together and run the place is amazing. 🥹

I visited this bakery right before leaving Dallas during the first week of August. I came to the U.S. from Korea for my studies, and while attending university in another city, I spent three months in Dallas for an internship. During that time, I discovered many great restaurants, and this bakery was one I had always wanted to visit. However, I never found the time until my internship ended—finally, I made it! Wanting to indulge, I ended up buying nearly $70 worth of bread just for myself. Now, even weeks later, I keep thinking about this bakery’s bread, so I’m writing this review belatedly. I’ve visited many well-known bakeries in Korea and Japan, but I honestly think this place offers sourdough that comes close to perfection. How do they manage to make it so crispy on the outside, yet chewy and nutty on the inside? Sourdough often risks being heavy and crumbly, with the loaf breaking apart when sliced—but here, it cuts cleanly with any knife, the crumb is light, and the cross-section is simply flawless. I’ve since returned to my university, which is about a three-hour drive away, but I would gladly make that trip again just to eat their bread. I truly miss it.

I happened to come across Oakcliff’s bread Instagram account and loved what I saw, so I decided to make the 45 minute drive to check it out. It did not disappoint! The cashier (who I believe may also be the owner) is genuinely one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Everything looked just as amazing as it did in the photos, and the pastries I bought were absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be making the drive back again!

Google
This place is amazing! The bread is fresh and delicious! I had the short rib danish, the peach brioche, the sourdough loaf and the focaccia loaf and all were exceptional!! I only managed to take a pic of the short rib one tho!

Yelp
I'm a little bit, embarrassed about how long it took me living here to visit this spot. I love visiting new bakeries and I live like five minutes away and I've lived here for three years. I don't think oak cliff bread has been in this spot for that whole time I could be wrong. anyway, today I finally came. It's a very cute local spot with lots of yummy breads and pastries. I came in a little bit late for the morning, so some stuff was out and they were preparing lunch items. I ended up going with a loaf of country sourdough, a blackberry, cream puff and an almond croissant so far I've only eaten the cream puff, but it was delicious and I can't wait to try the other items. The folks there were very friendly and helpful. I always like to ask what people recommend.

Yelp
If you are looking for a way to treat yourself, look no further than OCB. And we aren't just talking about sliced bread here. We are talking about artisan bread, that makes you ask yourself why haven't you tried this before today? OCB sends out a weekly newsletter letting you know what they are baking this week and from that newsletter I decided I was due for a stop in. As a late in the day stop, things can be sold out for the day but luckily I was able to get what I came for, the short rib pastry (I asked for one with the least amount of onions) and the raspberry cream puff. I barely made it to my car and absolutely didn't make it out the parking lot before I tore into the raspberry cream puff. Flaky buttery puff, cream and fresh raspberries but wait there's more, there's pasty cream on the inside! Absolutely yum! The short rib was on the savory side and my only complaint was I needed more whipped potatoes to go with that chunk of tender beef. It was delicious and I could have eaten another. The folks are nice, it's a small business, so go and support them while you treat yourself to some darn good bread options . . . We will worry about the carbs later!

Yelp
Nestled in Tyler Station is this family-owned gem of a bakery. Warm and friendly welcomes. Finding myself here weekly lately. First and foremost I come for their amazingly tasty "Focaccia", fluffy and soft inside, crisp is their crust. Then, there's their weekly specials of cookies and pastries, including loving bites of my most recent purchase of their "Beignets"! Small and inviting it is. A bit of scheduling I need to make to come early for their daily bakes gets sold out quickly. Please note: Oak Cliff Bread is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and, Saturdays! CHEERS!

Yelp
I visited this bakery because I was in the neighborhood and I ordered their pan au chocolat, cardamom bun, and a cold brew. This is not a coffee shop but definitely a bakery! They were easy to get to but they don't have a lot of indoor seating so this is a place where you pick up sourdough and other baked goods and leave. They are very delicious! All the baked goods were warm and freshly made. The pan au chocolat was very fluffy and the cardamom bun was flavorful. The cold brew was okay and I wouldn't go here specifically for the coffee. The service was super fast but they did not have a menu inside the store so we just looked at the glass case and ordered from there. They didn't have a lot of options for drinks (like lattes and espressos). They have a limited selection and a fridge for their drink items. There wasn't a lot of ambiance since I see this place as a stop&go.

Yelp
A little secret gem that cooks up the world's best loaf of sourdough. It's now become our weekly ritual to grab a sourdough from Oak Cliff Bread. Don't sleep on this place, it's so good!

Lindsey C.

Yelp
This place was incredible! The best sourdough bread I've ever had. They even had a little train table for my toddler to play at while we enjoyed our pastries.

Yelp
Oak cliff how offers sandwiches for Thursday's and Friday lunches. If you come on weekends, must get there early. They sell out. I have had the focaccia ham sandwich with arugula and it was bomb! Tried the meatball sub today and it was also bomb!!!!

Yelp
Finally got to check out this bakery after hearing so much about it. There's a couple tiny bistro tables and a bookshelf but I wouldn't count on being able to ear sur place. I got a Pain au Raisin which was super flaky on the outside, moist on the inside with delicious plump raisins, and a cranberry walnut loaf which was their special of the day and was absolutely fantastic; a great crunchy slightly charred exterior and super moist and flavorful on the inside. At 1030 AM they were sold out of their other loaves and of the strawberry danish so for best results, get there early!

Yelp
We recently traveled to Germany, two in our group travel to Paris. They brought back croissants. The croissants I got on my first trip to Oak Cliff bread were many times better than the ones from Paris! A must try. They were sold out of chocolate chip cookies. A man came in after us asking for them. I thought he was going to cry when told they didnt have any. Hubs is on the way to pick up 1 dozen we ordered to make sure we would get some. We ordered a dozen based on the oatmeal raisin they had. Got focaccia with a Mexican flair, croissants, of course, oat meal raisin cookies, huge and the best I've ever eaten homemade or other wise, a loaf of sour dough bread, delicious, and a black berry puff pastry. This will be a treck we make many times. We live in Garland it is about a 45 minute one way drive. So worth it!

Yelp
Love this place. Great vibes from everyone who works there. To other reviewers complaining about bakeries running out of bread by the afternoon...first time? Keeping my eye out for the return of the olive loaf and i'm sorry the bills got robbed - I was rooting for you guys.

Jim F.

Yelp
First rate ingredients, treated with care and respect yields first rate products. Croissants that rival anything found in Paris, bread that's crunchy and delicious, pastries that are perfection ... all served up by a friendly and efficient staff. AND ... the cookies are devine.

Yelp
! I came a little before closing, but ordered a few of their croissants. The butter croissant was very flaky and tasty. I asked them to heat it for me so it was nice and warm. I will definitely be back to hopefully try their other offerings.

Yelp
Oh man this place is just great. Located in a labaryth maze but the journey is a nice one especially since you reach baked good Narnia. So many options but I recommend the French baguette, croissants, focaccia and apricot croissant. All of which were some of the best I've had in DFW.

Yelp
Today I had the ham and cheese croissant and a cinnamon roll. First off, heat them up just a little bit. I wished they offered this as part of their customer service. Anyway their croissants are the flakiest most buttery croissants ever. I've been to Paris a few times and this croissant is better than the ones I had there. The cinnamon roll was ok. It's not super gooey and I like gooey. I do like that the icing isn't heavy and sweet. If croissants are your jam, go visit. Sorry I ate the cinnamon roll before I could take a picture.

Yelp
The best bread you'll ever have. The baguettes are crisp on the outside while moist and chewy on the inside. The danishes are all delicious. And if you ever see anything bacon (bacon gruyere croissant, bacon egg and cheese brioche) - grab it. It's so good, especially reheated just ever so slightly in the air fryer so the bacon perks back up to its full glory. One day I'll get there in time to get their chocolate chip cookies (it was not today), but at least it let's me have something to live for.

Yelp
They just don't miss! So friendly and always delicious. The focaccia bread will change your life!

Yelp
A random craving for croissants brought this place to my attention. My daughter and I decided a journey to this place was a fitting adventure for a Saturday morning. We were pleasantly treated to a small selection of bakery items such as a diverse selection of croissants, danishes and breads. Though the selection was sparse, each item was presented and displayed with class. The area where this bakery is located at is like a diamond in the rough. A neighborhood you wouldn't expect to hold such treasures shines brightly in this community.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best bakeries I have ever encountered. The plain croissant was incredibly flaky, the almond croissant was the best I have ever tasted the filling was delicious but did not take away from the croissant. Also picked up a fruit pastry and a loaf of walnut cranberry bread that were exceptionally good. I will have to return and try the sourdough. If you are in the area ( check the days they are open) definitely stop in.

Yelp
I have been searching for an authentic baguette in Dallas for quite awhile and have now found it at Oak Cliff Bread. It reminded me of the baguettes in Paris. I also tried the Pain Chocolat. Delicious. This is the real deal.

Gus D.

Yelp
It's no denying the bread is good, but they are always sold out and never actually have bread to sell, even as early as 10:30am. They have not adjusted to the demands of their customers and it's frankly frustrating to show up consistently, week after week, and there be NO BREAD LEFT. I give up. If you have a place of business, you should have the products you claim to sell in stock while your store is open.

Yelp
We first tried Oak Cliff Bread when they had a tent at The Farmers Market and it was delicious. We followed them to their first store this morning and it's perhaps even better because you can see the ovens and get the smells too. The word is out, so there was a short line but it moved quickly. The raspberry bostock, apricot danish, morning bun and the croissants are light and really good. The sourdough is for later but it's always great. Congratulations on the new place - it's now on the "regular" list so we'll see you again soon.

Erica L.

Yelp
Best place I never knew was in my backyard. Breakfast croissant fire. that homemade raspberry jam tingles your tastebuds. It was worth the wait in line.

Yelp
Amazing bread and pastries. This guy is really thoughtful in his offerings. I try not to cry when he misses a Sunday at the downtown farmer's market. The bread is so good, with a standard few and some rotating kinds. Croissants are on par with a European bakery. The chocolate chip cookies are seriously the best I've ever had (sorry, Kookie Haven, yours are delish, but...). The morning buns were creative with a smidge of orange and still perfect -- and, yes, I've had morning buns at the Ovens of Brittany, where they were invented.

Yelp
Their baked goods are fantastic!! The jalapeño cheddar sourdough is one of the best breads I've ever had, and their croissants are delicious.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
Wonderful assortment of baked goods weekly! Easy to order and pick up or head to the bakery and see what's cooking!

Yelp
Loved supporting local and being rewarded with incredible product! The pastries were delicious. Definitely recommend!
