I’ve been going to Oak Mill Bakery for many years and I knew that is where I wanted to get my wedding cake from. Their pastries and cakes are just sooo good. Now, I had a wedding cake in mind of course and It was the semi-naked cake. When we met with Basia, she convinced us to get the chocolate flavor since It will look better with the semi-naked look I was going for instead of choosing a marble or vanilla flavor. We chose the raspberry mousse for the filler and let me tell you, It was sooo good. I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with the way our cake would taste. Now, where I was extremely disappointed was with the fact that my cake looked nothing like what I wanted. I have shown Basia the look that I was going for and she said that It was no problem to do. It didn’t seem difficult in my eyes, no crazy designs, just semi-naked look. She did tell me that there is an extra cost to the semi-naked look, which initially shocked me. She told me that It was because It requires more work to get that look. I’ve attached photos for comparison with what I showed her via email and on my phone on multiple occasions. My florist put the flowers on my cake and thank God that she did because my cake would have just looked like a white cake…that’s It, just a white cake, no semi-nakedness to It except for three SMALL streaks. You can also see the stand that each tier is on which cheapens the look even more. The first time that I saw my cake was when I walked up to It for my cake cutting ceremony. Imagine my disappointment. Of course, I hid my disappointment but boy was I fuming. Not only because of the way that It turned out but also, I found out that my coordinator was having trouble getting ahold of Oak Mill Bakery. My coordinator was ready to go to a store to pick up a random cake in place because she didn’t think it would show up since no one was getting back to her. Overall, I thank God that at least it tasted good and that the flowers were there because It really would have looked sort of sad.

Excellent quality and a very large selection. They have a full selection of traditional and new flavors of paczki. I was also very happy to see that they were open early for the traditional Polish day, not just Fat Tuesday.

Loved the pastries here! A bit on the expensive side but worth it in my opinion. We loved the mango tartes.

This is the first time I ordered from this bakery., I was specifically looking for opera cake . I was excited to find out they made it. But when I get home, I tasted the cake and it tasted like old musty shoes, I also purchased a piece of tsunami cake it was dry. What a waste of money and gas.👎☹️

I've been looking for a good bakery ever since the Swedish Bakery closed. The search continues. I went to Oak Mill Bakery last week. i bought one sweet roll, a package of puff pastry sticks (18 - 6" sticks) and 12 kolaczkis. I gave the cookies to my friends and they said that they were just "good". The sweet roll was okay (Costco's are much better) and the puff pastry sticks were stale. My bill was $28.00! This place is way overpriced for the quality of their goods. I will not be returning there!

We just had a cake from there for our daughter's baptism! It was delicious (Forest Fruit); not too overwhelmingly sweet as most things are in the US... even the frosting is good and there was no need to scrape it off! We ordered it online way in advance and there was no issue with pick-up! Highly recommend it!

Absolutely horrible and disappointing! Came here because Weber's closed earlier than I realized and wanted a Paczki for Fat Tuesday. We ordered what we though were 2 Bavarian cream paczki, 2 cake slices, and 2 cake pops. The total for all 6 items was a little over 22 dollars...ridiculous! My mistake was checking the receipt when I was already on my way home and I see we have 2 gourmet apple somethings and the cost for 2 was 9.98. I'm already annoyed, but figured I'd look at everything better once I got home. The 2 paczki had apple in them inside the ring of cream. So 4.99 per paczki?!? I know inflation is hitting everything, but that is just sinful! We had the paczki on Tuesday and they were just ok...not fresh tasting and certainly NOT worth the price. We had the cake slices tonight and could not even have more than a bite. I don't know how long they were in the display but they just tasted old and weird. The cake pops also had an old taste and are almost 3 dollars each for literally a quarter sized ball on a stick. A complete joke!!! I should have realized when nobody else was in that bakery on Fat Tuesday that was a big sign at how bad this place is!

Best Bakery in the area. They have a few locations and we have been ordering from here since I was a child. Their Pear Charlotte cake is to die for, and always a must at any of our family celebrations, from birthday to new babies.

A large variety of extremely delicious, light cakes! This is my favorite bakery and has made Polish pastries my absolute favorite as well!

I was surprised with a delish raspberry mousse chocolate cake for my birthday. And it did not disappoint! Fresh and light and not too sweet. Will be getting cakes here from now on.

This bakery has by far the best tasting pastries! They aren't over sugared like a lot of other cakes and pastries you would purchase in a regular store. I honestly believe this is the best bakery around and I traveled 3 hours just so I could get a cake so I think that says something.

They have artistic beautiful bakery here. You may pay a bit more, but worth it to me. They have exquisite beautiful paczkis here. Due to the terrible snow storm, they're was quite a bit. But I made it out there to purchase some. The texture and filings, just yummy. It was very fresh.

My experience at this bakery was unlike any other bakery I've visited - and it wasn't a good one at all, it was absolutely AWFUL!!!! I came in for a wedding cake tasting with my fiancé and mother in law and was expecting a high standard of service, what we got however was less than pleasant. The employees are lifeless and uninterested in serving you, you won't catch them smiling or offering their help and input. They made it seem like it was a burden to serve us, like they were annoyed that we came in. The tasting consisted of 5 stale cake slices and pastries out of the pastry case and three plastic forks for the three of us to share the pieces. The samples did not taste fresh at all and we even overheard an employee telling another customer that most items were made yesterday. When we asked about prices we learned that they charge you separate for everything- literally. The cake flavor, filling, and any and all decorations are at a separate cost- a bling ribbon that goes around the base of each cake layer can be RENTED for $125.... Ridiculous. I don't know if you can get away with a $5-7 cost per person. Not to mention the $80 they charge for delivery. We were charged $25 for the tasting, I'm 100% positive we did not have $25 worth of cake or service for that matter. This bakery is a disgrace and should be ashamed of itself, they don't deserve people's business and people should not pay for them to stay in business. I will never ever come to any oak mill location again and I will discourage all my friends and family from bringing their business there. If anyone is dying for a bad experience and terrible customer service this is definitely the place to go!!! We went to another cake tasting at a different bakery that same day and everyone received their own plate with their OWN 7 samples of cake and 7 fillings to try and we were offered coffee, tea, and water ... Additionally we got a consultant who sat with us and listened to what we wanted and were interested in. She brought out examples to show us how big a 4-5 tier cake would look like. She also asked if we wanted to try any of their other cake flavors or fillings and brought them out with a smile. The tasting did not cost us a penny, nothing at all- the bakery owner said that it was just a part of their service and a part of the wedding cake ordering process. I will recommend them to everyone and I will tell the world about oak mill's TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service and rip off of a " cake tasting". Oak mill should be ashamed of their company and their service, they are a disgrace!!!

It is my 2nd time tasting their cake for two separate occasions. Both were purchased by my mother-in-law and I have to say Oak Mill cakes are not good. Overall it is just a really bland and dry cake. Every time a custom made cake which was ordered by her, I only took a few bites and stopped. I'm a little flabbergasted why she loves it so much, but to each their own. Their Paçzki is pretty good though if you'd care to wait every year in February to try them. That's what saves this review from a 1 or 2 star rating.

So, my sister and I were heading home yesterday from the south loop and I mentioned that it was the last day to get paczkis. So, we decided to head here to pick some up during a little bit of traffic. We get there about 6pm. We opted for a blueberry, egg liquer and raspberry paczki. The blueberry and raspberry was ok. The egg liquer was too strong of a taste for me. I guess paczkis aren't really my thing. Chocolate Bomb - My sister ordered this and I only got one bite and thought it was good, but my mom ate the rest.

I visited this location on 4/14/20. They are still open, but customers in the store is limited to 5 people in the store at a time. You can also get curbside if you know what you want. There was no problem getting in. While I was there a woman picked up a cake. The sales associate was very clear with the woman that the cake was frozen because the store had been closed Sunday and Monday. The associate asked What time was she planning to serve it at? The associate recommended the cake would thaw by then and asked about decorating it for the customer. It seems perhaps they had read the reviews online. I picked up a couple coffee cakes, the associate explained to me what was in each since they had no labels. I like the poppyseed coffee cake, it's not as sweet as Weber's but it's a matter of taste/preference. No complaints here.

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because their cakes are decent. Other then that my experience was horrible. I got there right when it opened and had to wait an hour. I don't mind waiting an hour because it is a popular bakery. When it was my turn to order, I received the worst service. I asked for a cake and the order women with blond hair had so much attitude. I asked if she could please write happy birthday on top and she just walked off. Came back 5 minutes later, told me my total, and I left. When I came home, she wrote in horrendous writing where you couldn't even see the day in Birthday. I'm so upset with the service and the product I received that I'm not going back to this location ever again. I would rather go all the way to Des Plains!

I love this bakery. it does a fine job of straddling the line between good, old fashioned Eastern European tradition and modern innovation. We stop by here a few times a month to get pastries, cakes, and cookies for special occassions, whether that is a birthday, a feast day, or a holiday. This place is known for its mousse-filled cakes and pastries. I highly recommend the passionfruit and mango mousse dark chocolate cake surrounded by a ring of dark chocolate and decorated in edible goldleaf with an imprint of the Chicago skyline. Also tasty is the poached pear and pear mousse cake with lady-fingers. If you are in the mood to sample traditional Polish pastries, Oak Mill Bakery prepares delicious fruit tarts, cheesecakes, apple strudel, paczki, and makowiec (a poppy-seed and dried fruit filling surrounded by a yeasty dough that is rolled into a log and drizzled with lukier (icing) and candied orange peel). A cake that the bakery estimates will feed 8-12 (more like 12-20) because of the cake's richness will run you about $38-45. Also, be prepared, if you have your heart set on a specific pastry or cake, you might need to call ahead during holidays. Oak Mill tends to bake their cakes and pastries in one location and deliver their products to its outlying bakeries.

I am 100% Polish so I know fresh pączki. I called to pre-order pączki for Fat Tuesday and was told they are no longer taking orders to come in they will have plenty. I asked my manager to pick up pączki for our employees at the Harlem and Archer location. She arrived first thing in the morning at 6:00am and was at the door as the worker turned on the lights and opened the doors. She purchased 30 pączki, spent $62 and they were all stale, tasted old!!!! I was so embarrassed. Never in my life has this happen to me with another bakery and I've been getting my staff pączki for years. They were not fresh and never again will I go to this overpriced bakery. I'm assuming the worker thought since this customer is not Polish she can get away with selling her their old pączki. On a day like Fat Tuesday I'm sure they had fresh ones ready. And to charge more than $2 per one, ridiculous!! I tried calling there to advise the manager but every time I call she isn't there. When they told me the managers name, that was the same name pronged on our receipt.

I traversed out this way (after having a very kind handyman shovel my car out of the fence of snow that suddenly appeared around it recently) to get some paczki. I've been to other Oak Mill locations but this one may be my new favorite. They had more varieties of paczki and there were no long lines like last year's trip to the Niles Oak Mill. They had tons of beautiful little Fat (please, more like Hyperobesity) Tuesday treats, that were very fresh. Plus they had pineapple. Hooray for that. They also let me use my credit card even though my purchase was less than $10 so I won't be a huge megabitch about how it's totally illegal to have min. charges.

I was regular customer at Oak Mill for special occasions cakes. I ordered cake week prior to birthday party. On the day when I was picking up the cake, they called me at 12pm- (my pick up time) that cake is not done because they had power outage ! They didn't call in the morning or at the time when power when off( if power went off! Or somebody just forgot to make a cake?) they just called when I was almost there to pick it up! They offered me different chocolate cake and told me it will be FROZEN and not ready to eat till 5-6pm!! I didn't get any explanation what really happened with my cake, or real apology :( Now I am not even sure what is fresh in their bakery since they sell frozen cakes for a lot of $$$ :(

Weber's Bakery (2 minutes away from this place) is a million time better than this place. Every time I have gone in here, it's pretty much empty with no customers. Every time you go into Weber's Bakery - it's packed, that should say something right there. The white chocolate raspberry cake we order for my dad's birthday was flavorless and the cake part was so soggy from the filling. Yuck! Not to mention it was over $32 for an 8" round cake. I won't be back ever again - I should've just stuck to my Weber's!

Don't be fooled that you can order a wedding cake. Came in to order a cake for 450+ people. They handed me a book of cakes (2-3 wedding cakes in the book) nothing I was interested in. There were sample cakes all over the bakery that were beautiful. While no one was in the store and the staff was coming up with a schedule, I stood at the counter until I got their attention. They don't make cakes at this location but I can drive to Niles or Arlington Heights to see a cake maker..... lost my business very quickly.

I really wanted to like their pastries because of their (past) reputation. However, if a business owner doesn't care to maintain a positive reputation and takes it for granted, it will only deteriorate. And I have a perfect example of why this place is going down hill. Today, we purchased several paczki. When we brought them home and before even biting into them, it was obvious from touching them they were few days old as they were extremely dry. For the price they charge, which is almost twice as much than other Polish bakeries or grocery stores; and the size of their paczki is half of what others are selling (for example Shop and Save on Archer Ave.), I would expect twice the quality. I am from Poland and my grandma made delicious paczki and I can distinguish fresh from old. Those were old. Never again, will I be spending my money there.

Hands down best wedding cake/sweet table caterer in Chicago-land. My sister used Oak Mill ten years ago for a sweet table and cake at her wedding in Milwaukee. I hired them for my wedding a month ago in Chicago and was BLOWN away by the presentation and the quality of every single pastry. I am posting some pictures.

This was the bakery for our wedding, almost 5 years ago. We stop in every now and again for a special treat. NEVER been disappointed. I've ordered the pastry trays for parties, and get many compliments on them. Great bakery! P.S The Pear Mousse filling is to die for, if you like Pear.

We have special ordered cakes from here numerous times, and just walked in and bought pastries. Our experience has been that the cakes are really really good, or just plain and as some reviewers mentioned, tasteless and nothing special. The last cake we ordered we were blown away at how delicious it was, and the presentation.... just amazing. However, a few months ago, on a few occasions when I bought a cake and other miscellaneous slices they were just OK. When I bought the cake, the lady behind the counter forgot to mention that she was giving me a frozen cake, so when I arrived at a birthday party..... well let's just say we couldn't eat it or slice it. Embarrassed, I ended up going to a Jewel to purchase another cake. Overall, they do have tasty cakes and they look amazing. Before ordering, I do recommend that you purchase a slice of that cake and try it. Don't rely on the cashier's suggestion. We've tried the Ambrosia, Opera, and Forest Fruit... there have been others but I just don't recall the names. You can also ask for cakes/pastries that are not that sweet, or don't have cream, they are also very good. They are pretty expensive. But they are unique, beautiful cakes and some are certainly worth it. The 3 stars are for inconsistency. It's really really good, or just mediocre.... We will order from here again.

Now that I'm obsessed with yelp I've made it my mission to try new places instead of just going to the same old. Today on my way to work I stopped in here for something for breakfast. (Normally I have a smoothie in the morning but I swear my blender broke.) I thought it was an ok place when I stopped in. It wasn't exactly to my taste but it seems more European and I just think it was something I'm not used to. I wouldn't cross it off your list just yet!

Recently went in to get a cake and I stood there for a while as employees talked to each other about their party life. I was going to walk out, but I needed a cake. So I got the cake. Paid $24. Worst tasting cake, it wasn't fresh at all. I would have went to a place in Hickory Hills, but at the time I went, they were closed, so this was the other place I could think of that was close by.

I've ordered several cakes here and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here but after yesterday's encounter I will not be shopping here again. I asked for a cake from the display (strawberry and banana cake with white and chocolate cake) and asked for a birthday message. A simple generic happy birthday and a name. If this is a birthday cake why would writing on it be an additional fee??? Well this isn't the first time I've had such dry and rude dealings with the individuals working there. One particular girl, Agnes, stands out. She never once smiles or says thank you after any of my purchases. Keep in mind I've bought cakes here a lot for many occasions (son's birthday ($170), husband's birthday ($145), mom's birthday ($160) and just because($26-37). She bags the items and gives me my receipt (lays it on the counter not my hand) as if I have some flesh eating disease. After this I'm done with the place. I rather drive another 2 minutes and stop at Weber's where I know my money is appreciated and I'll be given a thank you! I'm not saying there cakes aren't good but what I'm saying is their customer service sucks! It's not worth my money!

So, it used to be a really good bakery. Their cakes were delicious, full of flavor and unique. Not anymore! They are boring, tasteless and way OVERPRICED!!! I would not recommend this place to anybody! The only reason why they are not getting one star is because their Poznanski cake is still decent. Don't waste your money! Go somewhere else or you'll be very disappointed!

Wow! I felt like a little kid when I walked in and looked at the display cases! The desserts all looked too good to eat! From fresh fruit tarts, to over flowing creme puffs, to miniature bite-size cakes, I felt like I was in heaven. They also offered customized cakes and a variety of torts. Oak Mill Bakery is a staple for catering to weddings and parties, but even for the ordinary get-together, there's a huge assortment to choose from to wow your guests.

We used Oak Mill for our wedding last month and loved them! Our cake was absolutely beautiful AND yummy, and the price was really reasonable. They made a 3-tier cake with ivory buttercream frosting in a gorgeous, elegant design. They had a ton of designs to choose from at the shop and the tasting was so much fun. We went with two flavors - almond cake with some sort of nut filling and white cake with rasberry. Both were delicious. Oak Mill was great to work with and makes amazing wedding cakes!

The cakes there are really good. Really good quality. Came there after my few friends recommendation and I'll definitely come back there again!

AMAZING BAKERY! Just look at the website to see all the pictures! just eye popping creations to suit every sweet tooth. Moist, delicious cakes, tortes and pastries - I have been to many weddings with their sweet tables... nothing is left at the end!!! Their cakes are super moist and come in a variety of flavors... not the usual pick of vanilla or chocolate and one type of butter creme... I'm talking about i.e pear cake with glaze (#1 fave!!), raspberry ganache chocolate fudge cake, black forest cherry cake, cappuccino deliciousness... and so many more. The decorations are stunning and the Polish ladies that take care of everything... phenomenal! They have more than one location as well. I recommend it!!!

I have always loved Oak Mill's products, so we used them for our sweet table at our wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center this past June. They worked very well with our caterer...when we arrived everything looked amazing!! This bakery REALLY KNOWS how to do a sweet table. Our wedding cake and all the sweets were delicious and we still get compliments on them.

Really loved the wedding cake, groom's cake (fondant corona bottle the size of a small child with red velvet inside), and my dad's birthday cake (brought them a picture; they recreated it flawlessly)! Definitely pleased with the end results!! My only minor gripe would be the communication. E-mail/phone didn't work very well so the only way to get things done was to go into the bakery. Would definitely recommend them in the future.

Beautiful, European style cakes and pastries. Not the least expensive place for fancy cakes, but definitely worth the price...good value for what they provide. Personally, I'm a huge poppyseed cake fan...so if you're not in the mood for an over the top whipped cream cake/torte, try the cakes that are more breakfast/coffee style...very nicely done.

I was looking to buy some paczkis and saw an article in the Chicago Tribune that listed places that had them. I saw this Oak Mill location was not too far from my house and checked out their website. It showed a listing of all kind of flavors for paczkis (ones that my daughter might actually eat!). And right at the top of the listing of flavors, it says: "FULL PACZKI MENU WILL BE AVAILABLE February 23rd through February 28th." So I drove over there this morning (Feb. 25) to pick up some paczkis. I arrived early because I figured it would be busy. I was wrong. I was the only person in there. When I showed her the list of various flavors, the woman at the register said she didn't have ANY paczkis available. I told her their website said the full menu would be available Feb. 23 through Feb. 28. She said they wouldn't have any special flavors available until Fat Tuesday, and if I wanted some today, I could place an order and could pick it up later, but not for any of the special flavors, just the plain or regular ones. I told her she needs to fix the website because it said nothing about placing an order and nothing about paczkis only being available on Fat Tuesday. I was incredibly frustrated and decided not to place an order because I don't give my business to places like this. I will never go back.

My family has been going to Weber's Bakery for over 20 years now. But, recently we started going to Oak Mill Bakery on Harlem and it is amazing! The pineapple and strawberry cake with custard was AWESOME. Oak Mill is highly recommended!

I got married in July 2011 and we bought our wedding cake at Oak Mill Bakery on Harlem. We had never had their cakes, but had only heard good things about this bakery so we gave it a try. I'm so glad we did! The staff is so professional and friendly and were super helpful on helping me pick just the perfect wedding cake for our budget. On my wedding, my husband and I were so impressed on how beautiful the came turned out. My guests especially loved the cake! So much so that the cake disappeared so fast we only got to taste a piece my mom saved us! To this day, my friends and family comment how how delicious the cake was. I'm so happy with Oak Mill that I will definitely be back to buy our anniversary cake this year!

This place is the worst place I have ever dealt with. They were included in our reception package for our wedding. We wanted a funfetti/confetti flavor for our cake and was told 9 months before our wedding, in an email and in writing, that they could do it for us. Fast forward to 10 days before our wedding and we receive an email that they tried it and it did not work. We had to choose another flavor. We were crushed since we had told people our wedding cake was funfetti and now we were being told no. After asking why they said they could and then waited til so soon before our wedding I received no further emails. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Maybe because we had them in our wedding package that they thought they didn't have to please us or make any effort for us. Either way they almost ruined our wedding, luckily we found a better bakery that made efforts to help us. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR GO HERE

ive heard their cakes were delicious so i called to ask a couple of question so i could order my wedding cake. i was looking to buy a pretty large cake and new it would be $$$. when the woman picked up she said "i have no time for your questions call back another day." i laughed and said i am sure i wont! terrible service. just terrible. i guess ill be going to webers.
