Inside José Andrés’s New Book ‘We Fed An Island’ | Eater

"A large concrete arena that became the operation’s new home when the restaurant could no longer contain the effort, enabling rapid expansion of cooking and packing logistics; with multiple giant paella pans, a sancocho and sandwich operation, and assembly lines for aluminum trays, the site helped scale production to record days (about 20,000 meals) and serve as a central hub for island-wide distribution." - José Andrés

Grew up in the bay area I had the pleasure of attending the final A’s game something that we all took for granted and that we will all miss. The Oracle Arena is a beautiful facility and has transformed and maintained the culture of the bay area for a long time as the Oakland coliseum. We are looking forward to see what this venue becomes however we will always miss what it was here are our last photos and footages as 2024 Oakland As fans and NATIVES

I have been to 5 or so concerts here and have always had a blast! The way the stadium was made makes it easy to see from pretty much any height. The food is pretty good the staff have always been helpful. There are a few bathrooms that are single or doubled stalls. If your lucky enough to get VIP/BOX seats you get your own bathrooms!

Haven’t been here in years and it doesn’t seem like a bad venue. Views were good, I would like to now maybe come back for a show and see what that experience is like. 8/3/24…Monster Jam was an awesome time I would definitely come see this show again.

My first time going here and not only was the concert was about to take place but also they had an Athletic baseball event next door close to about the same time but thank goodness management was well done so they were able to efficiently get one crowd in to the stadium first before our concert crowd had to come in. The people who were standing out directing traffic was nice and friendly and was able to give me an easy direction as to where I needed to go. They had metal detectors and it was speedy and quickly. The bartender was quite busy but efficiently and I was able to get my drinks and have time to sit and watch the live concert. I love my seat right up front and personal I feel section 127 row 2 seat 1. I feel the floor crowd is a bit tight and when people are standing up dancing it will be in your face. But you do get to see the whole show. Inside the arena feels nice but once you're out on the street surrounding it feels very ghetto so would not recommend walking from any hotel to the arena. Also I did prepaid for parking $40 and you get a barcode which is so much easier for everyone to just scan code and go park.

Entry to the parking was easy and smooth, entry to the arena same, perfect too no issues with it. Security check was done smoothly. Only issue was people sneaking from other parts of the arena to the closer seating and the Security not doing enough to make them go back.

Went to see Melanie Martinez's Trilogy Tour! Had a great time! Lines were super long so I didn't end up getting any merch unfortunately. And it was a little confusing trying to find our seat. But overall it was a really good experience

Lots of fun with Aventura show. On the way to the Arena coming out of the Freeway, lots of people selling agrieta and “Beers”. Crazy!! When the show ended lots and lots of hot dog carts and fried Mexican food stands, I just can’t eat late at night. People were well behaved on a Tuesday night.

I attended the Twenty One Pilots concert at Oakland Arena, and while the venue itself was nice, my experience entering was extremely upsetting. I was traveling alone in America, and it was my first day there—I didn’t feel welcomed at all. One of the security staff was incredibly rude and racist. I had a Portuguese flag with me, representing my country, Portugal, and he insisted I couldn’t bring it inside, saying it would be thrown in the trash. Meanwhile, I saw other people entering with Twenty One Pilots flags and other items without an issue. When I asked what was the problem with my flag, he didn't answer me. This flag was incredibly important to me, as it had signatures from other artists, and I was devastated at the thought of losing it. I politely asked if he could hold it for me so I could retrieve it after the show, but he showed zero empathy and refused, insisting it would be trashed. I was in tears over this unfair treatment. Thankfully, two police officers nearby stepped in and allowed me to bring my flag inside. I’m incredibly grateful to them for their kindness and fairness. However, this experience with security left a really bad impression. I hope Oakland Arena addresses this kind of discrimination because no one should feel the way I did just for carrying a flag that represents their heritage.

Yelp
I was there for on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Seventeen concert. The staff was top notch, and my wife being ADA, that means a lot that het needs and wants are met when she attends a public venue We love how ADA ready they are for her. I just wish Ticketmaster would screen the ticket sales better for K-pop concerts, so scalpers can't buy the ADA seats.

Yelp
I've drove in Northern California once, and I remember passing by The Oakland Coliseum a very long time ago. Not only there is an outdoor stadium, there's also an indoor arena. I recently came here for my first time for Seventeen's Right Here World Tour in Oakland. I arrived late afternoon to see if there was merchandise for sale, which nothing was available for a late arrival. To my knowledge, Oakland is the roughest side of the Bay Area. There was extremely tight security including Sheriff's and Arena Security. The facility is similar in size to University of Hawaii Stan Sheriff Center perhaps a little bigger. Me and my friends had seats in section 116, so the area for food was in a nicer section than the rest of the arena. Although ground level seats were considered VIP, I didn't get a chance to see what they were offering. When our tickets were purchased, Ticketmaster pointed out some house rules before arriving. No bag checks were available, strict sizes of bags. I had assumed that clear PVC bags were required, but security allowed other bags in except backpacks. Every concession stand was cashless. Flags were actually acceptable to bring in, I was surprised. Carat lights were the only lights that everyone could use. And posters were allowed to bring in. Event Parking was $40, rideshare drop off and pick up area was at the 66th main gate. And an accessible bridge connecting the arena to the coliseum BART station which local police and sheriff's were working on site keeping concert goers safe and sound. Complimentary WiFi connectivity is also provided.

Yelp
Oakland Arena sucks, end of. Seeing Hans Zimmer has been a lifelong bucket list item, so my husband and I bought tickets the second they went on sale and treated ourselves to floor seats, maybe ten rows back from the stage. We knew it would be special. We arrived right at 7pm, when the doors opened for the 8pm show. Getting to the arena from SF on BART is easy, and I had memories of going to Warriors and A's games (thanks a lot, Fisher - BOOO) but that is where the magic ended. We got some concessions and found our seats, then .. just sat. At 8:30 it was announced that the gates were closed and that they would be re-opened as soon as possible. The arena was around 1/2 full. When the gates closed, no one on the security team could explain why. People inside the arena weren't allowed out, and people waiting outside couldn't get in. (I consider the folks inside lucky because ultimately nothing bad happened and we still had access to restrooms and concessions, things the people outside did not have.) The Arena made an announcement on social media that they'd post updates. There were no updates for 2 hours. Then there was an announcement that the gates were opened again and the show would be going on after all. (By this point, a lot of people had understandably left.) More attendees filed in, and the show started a little after 10pm. 25 minutes of the show ended up being cut, which isn't a huge deal given that we were safe. (At this point, almost two weeks later, there still has been NO announcement made by Oakland Arena about what occurred - official news sources say it was a bomb threat.) My husband and I missed the last BART back to SF. BART claims that they asked the arena to announce the last train time, which never happened. The walk to BART from the arena is around 15 minutes, so needless to say, we were never making that train. So instead we were told by BART to take an Uber. We did, and it was $180. We were pissed but knew there was another Hans Zimmer show the following week. We bought tickets, albeit not on the floor this time, and decided to try our luck again. (It's HANS ZIMMER, you guys.) The concession stands almost all refused to sell my husband a soda (I guess if you're sober, go fuck yourself?) and the prices are astronomical, as other reviews mention. The people running this place have really let it go since the Warriors left. I very much doubt I'll be back for another show; this was a once-in-a-lifetime artist so going twice was worth it, but I wouldn't do it for any other artist in the future.

Yelp
Wow do I miss the Golden State Warriors, We Believe!! Quality/Quantity - Just attended another concert here - Summer Worship Nights 2024 with Phil Wickham and Brandon Lake. I have been to both their concerts recently, but wanted to take my daughter as she has not been to a Brandon Lake concert yet. The concert was good, but in my opinion, they actually did an even better job at their individual concerts. This venue is one of our least favorite. I actually told my family we should take a break from coming here for concerts. Atmosphere - Just our luck that the A's were playing at the same time as our concert; can someone say "parking lot bottleneck?!?!" So we decided to get here early and tailgate. Joined the A's tailgaters, lol. But when we left, it was crazy busy. I mean double crazy... Decent size arena. Seats 19,596. Well actually more when they put seats on the floor for events. 132 acres. 10,000 parking spaces. Service - Good. Prepaid parking was very smooth. Fast friendly security at the entrance of the arena. Plenty of ushers, not that we needed them as we know the arena well. Price - Depends on your activity. This concert was approximately $200 for 3 of us. And cashless parking costs $40 even after we pre-ordered our parking pass. Owner Comments - Congrats on your success since 1966. We used to be regular customers as we are/were fans of the Golden State Warriors, Oakland Raiders, and of course Oakland A's. I sure miss the affordable games. The good news is that I have gone back to visiting LV frequently, but you already know that because you are following. :)

Yelp
The organizers place enough staff at each entrance to avoid creating lines at the checkpoint and inside, the staff tend to be polite and super helpful. This is one of the best arenas for concert. The stage has been designed in a way where it's visible from every seat that you might choose. Been here several times, every time there was plenty of nearby parking spaces and everything moved forward smoothly.

Yelp
Not enough bathrooms. Feel a little unsafe when everyone is leaving. It's quite packed in tightly. But the arena itself is beautiful!

Yelp
So I went with a group of friends to go see the Hans Zimmer performance at the Oakland Arena. We parked at the Radisson nearby and took an Uber to the arena, which was pretty easy. And then when it was over, we walked back to the hotel. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, the foot traffic in the arena was well managed, and the seating was actually pretty comfortable. My only gripe is that the concessions were astronomical. I got a beer and a bottle of water and it was $28 before tip. The two things that irked me : 1. They took the lid off the bottle of water and gave it to me open because that's the policy. I can understand having to put a glass bottle of beer into a plastic cup, but a little plastic lid is just pointless. 2. The urinals are circa 1980s. No wall separation. No splash guard. I mean they may as well just dig a trough and has us void in that. They used to have flushing capabilities, but they just remove the pipes. And now they call him "waterless". Yesh, no. Waterless urinals are VERY different than those sinks attached to the walls. On the bright side (no pun intended) The whole AV set up was amazing (as evidenced by the photos) and the sound was incomparable. This was my first time at the Oakland Arena, likely won't be my last, not by choice though. Quick tip, it's cool. Lots of room for improvement. Specially in the bathrooms.

Yelp
One of the best arenas here in the East Bay. Located in Cali, this arena hosts events, concerts and all sorts of live entertainment. For me, it was the Off Season Tour, featuring J Cole and 21 Savage. What can I say? The concert itself delivered, no disappointment. The setup, the concert and the vibe inside the Oakland Arena was vivid. The venue, cliche, has expensive food and drinks, but the arena is beautiful with a large crowd capacity. The staff did a great job with seating and accommodation. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Has the pleasure of visiting this venue to attend an Ateez concert! Easy drive from San Jose to Oakland. Right off the exit and into the parking lot. It was easy to maneuver through to check in with validated parking and took only about 5 minutes to find parking when the lot seemed full. It took about 10 minutes to get through security checks, and the security check was fast and straightforward. We easily found what gate and what section we needed to sit in. They have different areas for service whether it's food or alcoholic drinks, so that's accessible. The only caveat is that water bottles have to be uncapped for safety reasons. We had an okay time getting out without any trouble despite the long queue of cars.

Yelp
Me and my husband came here to see Mäneskin - Rush! World Tour and it was awesome! Great acoustics and lights, and lots of security at the entrances that were very helpful in guiding us on where to go. Our seats were pretty far from the stage but we still had a great view plus the big screens were helping a lot. The downsides were 40$ parking and 18$ beer. Otherwise, 4.5 stars, and I would love to come back for more shows.

Yelp
My daughter was so excited for Disney on ice. I was hesitant to take her. It was almost a 2 hr drive so I was already tired. Bathroom lines were crazy long. Food line were ridiculous with food being cold. Overall the place wasn't clean. Employees grumpy AF. Car got broken into just to find out they didn't take anything valuable. They took a Stanley cup. Smh. Parking lot was a mess. Im glad my daughter was enjoying her night because I sure the hell wasn't. Never again:/

Yelp
I have never been to a concert venue this efficient before. Parking was so easy, I reserved on SpotHero beforehand and just showed my QR code to the worker for Lot A. We arrived at 6pm and doors opened at 6:30, and the staff easily scanned us through with no wait time. They organized us in a line through multiple entrances of the arena and once doors opened, they got everyone through in a timely manner with no issues. And leaving the arena was the easiest part. I'm used to waiting over a hour to get out but we were on the freeway in 5 minutes tops. The staff are so nice and accommodating as well. Honestly, I wish other concert venues were as efficient as this. I still think about the disasters of SoFi Stadium.

Yelp
I was a very satisfied customer. Not going to lie, l had low expectations on its cosmetics just based on the the outside looking so old and just basic concrete but I was pleasantly surprised. I really like the layout. Went for the big 3 and I really like the easy access to the suites. Most workers were pretty chill though one lady seemed another I didn't have my drink order ready right away but it like .. I'm enjoying myself, relax! Overall enjoyed and the warriors could of stuck it out in Oakland

Yelp
For many years, I considered seeing Alicia Keys, back when she first started and performed in Berkeley. For whatever reason, I never had the opportunity or time to catch her in concert when she came to the Bay Area. When I saw the date for her stop at the Oakland Arena, I couldn't help but do a search for tickets. When I saw seats available in the section where my Warriors' tickets were, I clicked, "Buy". Not knowing the stage configuration, I knew it was a gamble HOW good the seats would be but it turned out perfect. The stage was at center court where she was "in the round" (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Sj9jZCTuUpZPXdrjAyQ-IA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); this staging always lends itself to be a more intimate experience for the audience. Her opening performer gave a solid 45-minute set before the main set started about twenty minutes later. When Ms. Keys took the stage, she opened with her 1st hit song, "Falling". For me, the highlights for the evening were her performances for "Girl On Fire" and later that New York song (Empire State of Mind); the photographic slide show while she sang this was probably touching for those from the East Coast. She also did a cover of the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" that got the crowd going; I saw that a night or two later in her LA area performance, Annie Lennox joined her in singing this. She closed the set with "No One", which became one HUGE singalong; the adrenaline rush when everyone sang together was electric. Her encore to close the show was "If I Ain't Got You" which was a continuation of the singalong for the avid fans who knew the song lyrics. Special note to a male dancer who joined her onstage and danced with her. Yes, she can dance too. I believe she ended the tour in Southern California and don't know what her next scheduled tour will begin. If you are a fan of her music, do see her live. You won't be disappointed. *** I originally started this review titled "Alicia - Keys to the Summer Tour" since it is about her tour but Yelp moved my draft into this business instead.

Yelp
I've frequented here mainly for raves + concerts and it's not tooo bad! I definitely recommend trying to use public transportation or plan ahead to get to this venue!!! The traffic gets intense and the possibility of missing a portion of your event because of traffic?! Terrible. Aside from parking, I haven't had a bad experience with the Oakland Arena! Music is always great and there are lots of restrooms all over inside!

Yelp
I brought my daughter to Oakland Arena for a concert and despite it being during a pretty bad rainstorm, I felt the Oakland Arena staff definitely made the experience better than it could've ended up.. We took BART in to the Coliseum stop and were greeted by high winds and rain. The walk is usually decent, but today it was pretty miserable and we walked as quickly as we could towards the arena to find dry conditions. The staff were very good about routing people to open lines to keep people moving and keep us from getting dumped on even more than we already were. Things slowed up a little bit at the ticket verification spot, but once we got inside it was all good. We were soaked, so I went to the bathroom to find some paper towels to dry off. The restrooms were clean and spacious. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful as well. Overall, it was a great experience (outside of the downpour) and I would definitely come to this venue again for a show. Oakland Arena staff were on their A-game and kudos to them.

Yelp
Was enjoying Seventeen when I had to use the restroom during intermission and the security lady wouldn't let me back to my seat and made me walk the long way around. Please fix your seat signs, I was in 106 seat 8 and the sign to this area makes you walk all the way down and around with security blocking the main entrance. Absolutely rude and would not even listen.

Yelp
Oakland Arena is, well, alright. Not the best, and far from the worst. For a concert: ============= $40 parking (robbery) $16 chicken tenders and fries (horrific, dry, and unseasoned) $17 coors light draft (large 16 oz, but at a crazy price for domestic) $10 hot dog (not delish or gourmet, just a standard dog and bun; sweet relish only, no onions avail) I'm convinced, the only decent place to see a concert is standing room on floor -- it's right in front of the stage. I had 2nd row center, normally good, but the view was blocked by all the folks standing up. Also, not staggered so you could have a tall person in front of you (or big hair, a cowboy hat, etc). Aug 8, 2023 ========== I came to see Greta Van Fleet. Good performance by a great band. The absolute phenom is their guitarist. Worth a see if you can. Opening band was Teddy Swims. Good performer, great voice, and definitely makes a fashion statement (not a good one, though). I mean, shorts (to show off all his leg tattoos I supposed), black socks with tennis shoes, a leopard long-sleeve loose shirt (more like a silk blouse), bald, on a stocky body. Wow.

Yelp
Honestly pretty terrible. Went here to see Hans Zimmer and it was a total mess. Parking was insane. I literally don't know how more people aren't lost or in an accident. Some dude in a vest said it was $20 for cash and $40 for card? Their website says they don't accept cash so either we were scammed or they haven't updated their website. Once we got parked (AKA just randomly selected a spot since there is no traffic control), we walked to the arena. Inside is fine. Not really that nice when compared with other venues. The seating is AWFUL. I'm 5'0 and my knees were touching the seats in front of me. I can't image how awful it would be a for a tall person. There was some kind of emergency and there was ZERO communication. Show started almost (2) hours late and all we got was a message saying they were holding the gates and to be patient. Ended up looking information up on Reddit to see what was going on. The show itself was great (I mean, it's Hans Zimmer lol) but getting out was also a nightmare. Cars going the wrong way, absolute chaos. There is no chance I am going back here unless someone I loooove is coming and even then. I'd go see your favorite artists somewhere else.

Yelp
I came here for the Alicia Keys concert. We had meet and greet passes along with VIP parking. The staff was friendly and organized for this event. We truly enjoyed our VIP experience here. The VIP parking was down the stairs from the check in/entrance so we were super close. Therefore, we got out of the traffic jam smoothly and quickly from our parking spot because it had it's own exit.

Yelp
What a great place to see a show. Easy access to arena, very organized, and lots of staff available for questions. You'd think this would have been a $#!+ show with so many people but it was not. I highly recommend going to see shows here when you can. The parking was easy. There were enough places to get drinks and food that you did not have to wait in crazy long lines. Perfect for date night or to hide from your family and kids. Can't wait to go back and see wrestling soon.

Yelp
Had a great time seeing Cigarettes After Sex here on 10/5. Unfortunately the old decrepit female security guard and the young, VERY homeless looking, male security guard made me remove my big chunky chain that made me look hot as hell because it "could be a weapon" when it was clearly on my neck and there were other people with canes and HUGE bags they didn't say shit to. I honestly think this might have been targeted because I'm queer. They told me to hide it, which I did, and then after the concert, it was GONE. I loved that chain so much and have to order another one now. I hope they both lose something they love, like a family member or this job. If they see this, you both owe me $30 each to cover the cost of the chain.

Yelp
1 star for the rude and incompetent staff. Also the lack of instructions and directions for traffic was appalling. Melanie Martinez concert was amazing and I loved it. However when it was time to leave all hell broke loose. I asked at least 5 workers where was the Lyft/ Uber pick up and NO ONE knew but a red headed female worker chased me down and made me throw away my collectible slushy cup. She said that I was not allowed to walk around with alcohol, hello my cup was empty. I did not want to punch her in the face and get arrested so I threw it away. After 35 minutes of trying to get a Lyft/uber I called my hubby to pick me up. I will NEVER come to this horrible arena ever again.

Yelp
We are at the Hans Zimmer show at Oakland arena that starts at 8 pm. We arrived 7:30. We were kept standing and waiting for more than an hour with a recording of the arena rules loud like torture, like a forced dystopia. When complained to the supervisors they just ignored everyone. I will never come to this disorganized place again.

Yelp
I attended the Second Sky Festival that was held at the Oakland Arena Grounds. The Festival itself was so amazing and fun, however there is lots of concern and need for improvement regarding health. The bottom line is that there needs to be more water filling and hand washing stations for these kind of events. There were only two water stations for attendees to fill up their bottles and hydration packs, and in later the day one of then broke down. It's worrisome especially when lots of people need to stay hydrated from all of the alcohol that was served at the event. There were portapotties available, and we used the one that was closest towards the entrance. There were NO hand washing stations at all. My boyfriend pointed out that there was water all over the ground, so maybe there were stations but they were removed later on. I felt extra icky coming out of a gross portapotty only to find out there's no hand washing stations available. I had to rinse my hands at the water station and use my friend's hand sanitizer right after.

Yelp
We went to a 90s Latin pop concert last Sunday night. And in the hard rain! So I suppose we are hard-core fans. I have to say one thing: Park VIP. This is the best thing if you care about traffic/getting stuck inside etc. It's also very close to the entrance of the Arena. You park, walk, go thru security, and up the stairs. And there you are: inside! The food is pricey but the seats are good. You can see the stadium pretty well from pretty much any seat. I'll definitely come back for the rodeo!!!!!

Yelp
I went here for the Melanie Martinez concert on March 12th, 2024. First, the staff was INCREDIBLY rude, like the worst I've ever seen. The security was (sort of) chill and was doing their job by being strict, which I understand, but I asked a security guard if she could pick up ONE piece of confetti on the floor, and she refused and shooed me off--I had to beg for other people on the first floor to give me the confetti. Next, two staff members were complaining about merch lines, and there were merch trucks outside, so people did not need to crowd in one place. My friend and I overheard this, and she asked a male staff member if merch trucks were still outside, and he stared DIRECTLY at her chest and said, "Yeah, yeah, sure, whatever." He did not break eye contact with her chest once; it was absolutely vile and unprofessional behavior. Not only was he a total creep, but he and other staff spread misinformation about the merch trucks still being available when the show was over. We lost our spot in line, and my friend was not able to get the shirt she wanted. Then there was ANOTHER employee my friend asked for directions from because we could not find the alleged merch trucks still outside. The employee did not even acknowledge her, purposefully ignored her, and then started giving instructions without making eye contact. So weird. They gave lazy instructions, and it was clear they did not want to help people. Last comment on the staff: My friend and I were reentering the concert hall in and out to go to the bathroom, get water, etc. A young black woman did the same, but she was stopped by security and demanded to see her ticket. She was already inside the arena, meaning she had already scanned her ticket and was authorized to reenter the concert hall as she pleased, like my friend and I did. I fear this was a case of racial profiling, and it was disgusting to witness. Off-topic from the horrific staff, but the arena itself was extremely hot, with an occasional breeze from god knows where. Moreover, my other friend who attended had early access VIP tickets but could not get into the arena until an hour before the show started because the staff did not let anyone in. This is ridiculous. He couldn't even get the merch he wanted, as it sold out before he made it inside. Mind you, he got there THREE hours before the concert started. Also, to top it off, $20 for TWO CUPS OF NON-REFILLABLE WATER. My experience with this arena was genuinely so poor. I hadn't gone to a concert in a few years due to a new developing illness, so I was nervous and relied on this place for a good time. It SUCKED.

Yelp
This is THE venue that most bigger artists will go to for world tours in the Bay Area. I specifically enjoy coming here for K-pop concerts! I have seen BTS, Twice, and Seventeen all perform here. Each time was such a treat! There is never any noticable technical issues and the lights/confetti are usually always done well. If you come here, I HIGHLY recommend you do not sit in sections 219 and 231. These seats are directly to the side of the stage and you're basically perpendicular to the jumbo screens, so you can't see the performers clearly! I would recommend spending a little bit more and go for the 100's or low 200's if you can. The venue itself is fairly old school and run down. A bit gross inside too.. The seats are pretty worn out and there were ANTS on the seat next to me indoors!!! There's tons of merch booths through out the venue to buy t-shirts and k-pop lightsticks. They also have a randomly-places fake grass patch outside to wait or meet up with friends by the East Entrance. Parking is definitely a big downside. They do not have enough exits to leave the venue, so the bottleneck is INTENSE. $40 to park here too for concerts...

Yelp
I really like Oakland Areana. Saw Alicia Keys here and couple warrior games 10-15yrs ago... Came back for a historic concert w/ AugustD...Let me pick my jaw off the floor. I had no idea of the BTS fandom...lights, pyrotechnics, moving stage, did I already mention lighting? and JBL surround sound, blue-tooth magic light sticks that coordinates w/ the music. I was enthralled, like a kid watching fireworks for the first time. What in the magic-stick sorcery is this?!Also though, wouldn't recommend someone w/ a seizure diagnosis for light/music show here, game over. To that...I'm sure there are seats that aren't as nice as club levels, but I can't perceive any bad seats in the house...front of house preferred, not necessarily floor seats for those that are vertically challenged. I would forego snacks/drinks...we paid $29 bucks for 3 sodas. It was smart to eat prior to attending... All and all a great time and can't wait to go back for some more kpop in the summer!

Yelp
Service - Came to Oracle Arena to see Kehlani (my boo thang) and had a great time. Debbie at the bar towards the main entrance was really funny and nice and had great customer service. She made us laugh and set the night off on a good note. All of the security and staff at the arena were really nice and helpful. The guy outside at the rideshare pickup even helped my Lyft driver find the right parking lot. When we were leaving I told him to be safe and he said "be careful, safes get broken into" which gave me a chuckle because I'd never heard it. So overall, the staff made the concert go really smooth and enjoyable. Not to mention I met my boo and we were matching (green pants, creme top)! Food and drinks - One thing I do want to warn is that all the food and drinks are overpriced. $9 for a 20oz bottle of water, and it's Aquafina! It's pretty expected for these type of venues tho so I wasn't surprised. If you walk around to the other side of the arena away from the main entrance the lines are shorter for food and bar so I would head that way rather than waiting in the long lines right when you walk in. Transportation - finding a Lyft after any concert or event is hard, but the convenient thing about Oracle is Bart is right there and you can walk over the pedestrian bridge right to Bart. So that's convenient if you don't want to drive or rideshare. Otherwise there is paid parking on-site. I will definitely return to more concerts and events here. The reason for my 5 stars is mainly Debbie but I've also been to Oracle multiple times and never had a bad experience. Anyway, KEHLANI IF YOU'RE READING THIS I LOVE YOU!!! BWR 9-30-22 BABYYYY!!!

Yelp
I went to this stadium for the IVE concert (and most likely also more concerts this year). They are really annoying about seating you down before the concert starts. I wasn't able to take pictures by the railing because I would be a fire hazard or something, but I wouldn't have spent more than 20 seconds. Love the concerts though, great experience overall!

Yelp
Oakland Arena is stellar compared to similar venues. The staff is professional and dedicated. The area is clean and well-maintained, and the same goes for the inside of the venue. The venue is within walking distance of Coliseum BART station, a great convenience for anyone looking to avoid buying a parking pass. Traffic also tends to be a major issue in the area so having BART as an option is amazing. These factors made my night at Oakland Arena a carefree and fun time. Food and drinks are expensive, but this is fairly standard for venues similar to Oakland Arena. It is to be expected.

Yelp
Came here for a concert and there were some clear pros and cons. The biggest advantage is how accessible it is from the Bart. You will have to walk around the arena a lot to get to the entrance from where the Bart drops you off but it's better than dealing with Uber or parking. I also liked that they converted a few men's bathrooms into women's for the concert to help with lines. Thought that was pretty smart. The cons are that the hallways are pretty narrow so there were numerous areas where people were shuffling right next to each other to get to where they wanted to. The other is that the screens were partially blocked from the light fixtures when sitting in the lower 200 levels. The arena is small enough to have a decent view of the stage but the screen was a bummer

Yelp
This is more of a love letter to the Oakland Coliseum. I grew up in the East Bay and practically every event I went to was here since I was a kid to now a much older adult. I have been to many skating shows as a kid and as a parent, I have been to concerts, when they were THE venue and was here for Oakland when the Warriors played and sad when they left for San Francisco. BART makes it so much easier for those who don't want to pay $40 for parking but getting in and out is straightforward and 880 is right there. I didn't realize how much I felt like we are growing old together until I was at the Kacey Musgraves concert last night. So thank you Oakland Coliseum for being here to let me experience all the fun memories and the many more to come. You may be old school but you'll always be my favorite.

Yelp
Honestly, the Oakland arena is a sad place these days. Everyone who worked there seemed angry. The ceiling slopes down in a weird way so the nosebleeds have partial views. The food is bad. I added a star because the parking situation was convenient and it was easy to leave relative to other venues.

Yelp
this review is mainly about the staff and my experience having a service dog and bringing him to the oakland arena. we went to the jhene aiko concert. like any other establishment, they asked for our seats and my dog's info and tasks. to my surprise, they had a staff member escort us to our seats, even wait with us in line. i have never had an escort for my SD but it was a great experience. they told me it was because they've had people in the past berate handlers as to why they get to bring their dogs but other people can't. it was an incredibly thoughtful sentiment. we also got moved to more comfortable seats since the stadium was pretty packed. i had a few younger patrons messing with my SD and the staff were very helpful in regards to that situation as well. i wish my experience with the staff that day was consistently my experience when i go out. this is the bar and bare minimum now!

Yelp
I was so excited that New Edition was coming to town, as I had waited years for them to tour locally in the bay area. What made it even better is that one of their openers would be Jodeci. How ideal was this! My friend and I joked beforehand that we didn't even know the other opener (Charlie Wilson) and were hoping that we'd see more of the other artists. But the joke was on us, cuz Charlie Wilson ended up bringing the most suprising entertainment factor to this whole experience, and we walked away definitely knowing his name (and entire bio, lol), which he integrated into some of his songs and the way he hyped up the crowd. Pushing 70 and big pimpin on stage, there was a swagger about "Uncle Charlie" that was just hilarious and memorable... like telling "all the beautiful ladies to stand up" and "all the ugly ladies to sit down." I know, maybe some may see it as offensive, but showing his personality through his comments and stage presence was entertaining nonetheless, enough that I had to mention it in this Yelp review. It also turned out that we knew a good amount of his music (ie. Computer Love), but we were just unfamiliar with his original band and collaborations. The performances by New Edition and Jodeci were also amazing, they sang and danced to most of my favorite hits, bringing back memories and lots of thrills throughout the evening. And even after all these years, they still had a remarkable energy that just had to be appreciated. It was so much fun... better than a lot of the concerts I've been to here in the past and having watched similar artists at other venues. The sound quality at Oakland Arena was much improved from previous visits, though the headliner volume was quite loud and screeched a bit toward the end (the crowd was extremely loud as well, and it was definitely a full house from top to bottom, so I can somewhat understand how all that noise made my ears ring). Seats in section 231 are borderline back stage on one end, but the other end had a great up close view of the stage. There was even that all too familiar aroma of cannabis that can't be missed during concerts at this arena :P The lighting was great, alternating hues shining over the audience as well as on stage, the effects of thunder and rain leading into New Edition's performance of "Can you stand the rain" (one of my faves), and even the many outfits that the artists changed into mid-performance. There was barely a wait to get into the venue, and hardly a wait for parking, though the parking fee is quite expensive, I think $40 (cashless). And we were delighted to find that they not only served beverages (alcoholic, and sodas without the bottle caps), but also food (nachos, hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, candy). And there was no wait at the food stands, and only a small line for drinks at the bar. The concert started on time at 8:00pm, while finishing at 12:00 midnight, so we didn't feel like each group rushed through their bits, and we definitely got our money's worth (short breaks and a DJ between performers). If only the area/ neighborhood for the venue was better, it would be perfect... but it's not the safest, and there's nothing really nearby. But hey, all the employees, ushers, security, etc. were great, so at least on site, everything was awesome. We walked away happy!

Yelp
no signage as to where drop off or parking is. Lack of cones to funnel traffic to the right direction. The most chaotic exit route. Again no signage no cones to direct traffic no staff/people to do traffic. People sat in parking lot due to traffic not moving because of this inefficiency. You wanna think twice or more if you should watch another event here.

Yelp
The vibe is ALICIA KEYS is in the house! Very few things come close to that sense of pure delight enjoying fabulous performance artistry with our favorite people on planet Earth. As she walked within arms reach, I was going to offer Alicia my cell phone to type in her number. However, I was discouraged by the linebacker wearing a suit. Normally, I would have insisted but let it go because I wasn't wearing the proper shoes...Haha! And yes, Alicia was in top form! She had me at Fallin'. Lover her iconic songs! That Girl Is On Fire! Amazing how she never broke into a sweat despite her vigorous performance! "No One" and everything means nothing "If I Ain't Got You." The light show! The dancing! The audience participation! OMG, it was an epic evening at the Oakland Coliseum! So much fun that our jammed packed vehicle did car karaoke all the way home! Would go back again! Woohoo!

Yelp
All Security staff on the day of ENHYPEN fate plus Oakland concert were very vocal, organized and helpful in making a safe experience for all concertgoers. We will definitely come back for an event here at Oakland Arena. Appreciate you guys!

Yelp
I was so surprised that there was no food being sold on the 2nd level. We had seats for a concert in the 200 level, and had to go down to the first level to get food. There was also a random video sign stating that they had cheesesteak - yet we couldn't find it at any of the counters. I was surprised at how sticky the floor was at our seats. As I was standing there, I was actually sticking to the floor. Finally, the venue itself is good - acoustics are good for a concert.

Yelp
Recently came here with some friends to see the Wu Tang concert. It was all our first time at this arena and I was pleasantly surprised by how the parking situation was. Getting in and out was not a nightmare, I'm used to lots of traffic and waiting awhile at concerts. Kinda sucks that parking is so expensive but it is what it is. Our seats weren't the greatest but for $20, it was worth it. I don't think I would've wanted to pay more for wu tang since I'm not a die hard fan. I wasn't sure if it was the arena or their mics but there was some echoing happening. Leaving the arena was funny too. There was sooo many hotdog carts out waiting. Like at least 40 all in a line! Never seen so many but it was tempting cause I was hungry.

Yelp
Never had any issue coming here for any concerts. Always a pleasant experience. Organized parking, no cash payment for parking, indoor food and beverages. Make sure you have your credit or debit cards available. They don't take cash. Ample security on site. I appreciated they were passing out masks at the entries. Only moment you would need patience is leaving the Arena. It can get chaotic. Other than that, if you are coming here... have a good attitude!

Yelp
There was pros and cons of this event the pros I went with my boys to road to wrestlemania to have and see our favorite wrestlers I was able to take one picture with one wrestler which was great after the show. The con was that I bought tix next to the barricade and hoping that we were able to interact with wrestlers will that didn't happen. Me and my sons seats were away from the barricade and we weren't able to interact with the wrestlers walking down the aisle our seats was smack down in the middle. I called Ticketmaster and they refuse to comp mine and my boys tix. I feel that I should get comp on my tix or get a full refund back. They gave me a run around trying to get that happen which they didn't did at all. I'm really pissed off

Yelp
Hans Zimmer October 3rd. Show delayed by 2 hours and still no updates. Nothing. Went and asked. No information. Then we're shut in because of police action. Ok, Things happen but this venue is poorly managed to say the least - no communication from staff, even if they can't tell us everything they can at least tell us something and provide us with an estimate of how long we will have to wait. Tix are non refundable and we weren't allowed to leave anyway. My dad flew from England for this show. Making us all wait with no info is not fun. Seats are cramped and uncomfortable with no leg room for anyone taller than 5ft. Stairwells on the upper level are steep and poorly lit, my dad (who is elderly) fell over because of not being able to see the step. I tripped in the same place as well. Also the drinks here. $15 for a glass of sutter home or pint of modelo, and of course no food or drinks allowed so they can charge airport prices. Bit much I think. The show did eventually start and it's Hans Zimmer so it's brilliant of course. But I won't return to this venue.
