Had such a great experience ordering a custom cake from Oakleaf bakery! My cake came out amazing and tasted sooo good!! Pickup was super easy and I was pleasantly surprised to find a cute coffee shop inside! Will definitely be ordering again

First visit for pastry and latte. Croissant was good and enjoyed latte. Good service. Late Saturday afternoon and k8nd of busy with limited seating at the time.

Oakleaf Cakes created an absolute dream come true masterpiece for the Peter Rabbit themed baby shower I threw this May. I am overdue in writing the rave review that they earned but not due to a lack of appreciation! This cake was the centerpiece of the decor and the taste (lemon raspberry) was as delightful as the appearance. Bravo to the chefs and for those of you debating whether to commit and place an order…I urge you to go ahead…YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Oakleaf was amazing to work with from day one, helping me design the wedding cake of my dreams and executing it flawlessly. They were communicative, inclusive, and supportive of our ideas, including doing a free and fun cupcake tasting to decide our flavors. They were the best vendor we worked with by far - delivering on their promises and being very transparent on pricing, design, and what would work well or be more challenging to execute. I absolutely love this little gem! ✨ Ever since quickly stopping by I have wanted to try it out, and this morning I finally got the chance. I had the most delicious breakfast, ordering a small cappuccino and a chocolate chip cookie. The cappuccino stood its ground and easily beat several other coffee places close by, but the cookie was the highlight of the meal 😍. It was hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had! UFO-sized, soft and chewy to the right point, with enormous gooey chocolate chips. Definitely worth trying! 🍪 I will admit at first I was a little bit discouraged as I was expecting pastries and there were only cupcakes, cookies and a few other baked options, but that cookie was simply majestic I did not miss anything! Plus, when I came back a bit later they had added several more options, so I promise you will not be disappointed! For this delicious breakfast I paid $8.56, which seems to be cheaper compared to most places close by. If you are someone who likes coming back to the same spot to get their coffee, Oakleaf offers a loyalty coffee card, which gives you a free coffee after six coffees ordered here, so you may have found your new deal! Oakleaf did a small cake and cupcakes for our wedding in May. Not only were the flavors amazing (almond cake with blueberry buttercream, lemon cake with raspberry buttercream and chocolate with cookies and cream), the designs were absolute perfection! I asked for the cake to have a design painted to match my dress and as you can see they nailed it! I'd absolutely recommend Oakleaf for your next special occasion!

Julie and team created an amazing cake for an exhibition stand we were doing at the Boston Convention Centre. They were brilliant with the design, mock up, considerations and also the delivery of the cake itself to the venue. Would highly recommend!

Stopped by to satisfy my chocolate chip cookie craving and Oakleaf certainly did the job! Their cookies are huge and have a chocolate chunk in every bite. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like I like them. Seems to be more of a specialty cake store and it's not the coziest cafe ever, but I'd come back to try their other baked goods.

A cute little cafe/bakery near Northeastern. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and they still had plenty of sweet treats to choose from. I decided to get the chocolate chip cookies and candied cashew toffee shortbread cookie along with a cold spiced apple cider. The store was pretty busy with customers coming in and out as well as the tables filled, but service was great. The spice apple cider is perfect for the this fall weather and the cookies are bigger than your standard cookie. I enjoyed both cookies and would love to go back and try out their cakes one day.

I went here for a cake decorating class and it did not disappoint! So much goes into the process of making and decorating a cake from scratch. The basics class includes: layered cake assembly, frosting cake, decorating practice, and decorating cake. This class does not include making your own buttercream or making your own cake layers, but there is a live demo on how to make the buttercream in a standing mixer. My favorite part of the class was getting to practice the different piping techniques on parchment paper. There was also a lesson on piping flowers but that didn't interest me as much. Overall this was fun and I would recommend as long as you are okay with standing on your feet for 3+ hours

Food is amazing. Staff is amazingly helpful and kind. Great place to get some sweets or an amazing breakfast sandwich. Store is clean, neat, very comfortable place. Go there!

I met a friend here for a catch up over coffee, and it's a super cute little shop near Whole Foods with beautifully decorated cakes. I got a cherry almond shortbread cookie, which had good almond flavor. The color was pretty pink, but I could definitely see that as a selling point! Based on their displays and my friend's recommendation, I would definitely order a custom cake here if I needed something beautifully decorated. Service as very friendly.

I feel terrible writing bad reviews but unfortunately I felt like it was necessary in this case. The cake I ordered was perfect looking and beautifully decorated, however it was EXTREMELY dry and flavorless. Nobody ate more than a few bites. Frosting also did not have any flavor and felt almost greasy. Unfortunately I would absolutely suggest taking your business elsewhere if you want a flavorful cake.

I don't generally write a review but I felt I had to in this circumstance as I am dissatisfied. I bought a cake for my daughter's birthday and considering what I paid for it, I thought it would be a great tasting cake. it was beautifully decorated and the way she wanted it but the cake itself was extremely dry and the icing had no flavor and was not sweet at all. Really pleased with the cake I purchased from there! I got one of the ready-made gourmet chocolate cakes - not only was it so cute but it was so tasty! The buttercream was so light and smooth and the cake overall was not too sweet. I was genuinely impressed with the cake and can only imagine how good the customized cakes are. Their 5 inch cake was the perfect size for a small party and reasonably priced. The shop also smelled amazing when you walk in. I'll have to come back to check out the coffees and pastries too.

My daughter wanted a "Pokémon and cheetah-themed" birthday and Oakleaf created the cake of her dreams! They were easy to work with and helped turn our scattered ideas into a beautiful custom cake. The cake looked and (most importantly) tasted amazing. We got a rainbow interior with chocolate frosting. They also made custom cookies with Pokémon and cheetahs to go with the theme. Highly recommended for their professionalism and artistry on custom cakes and cookies!

I ordered a cake for my birthday party. The design was flawless - I sent Oakleaf a few pictures to give them an idea of what I wanted and they came up with a beautiful design. They even copied the intricate detailing on my invitation for the top tier design! I ordered chocolate cake with hazelnut buttercream frosting which was delicious, rich and moist. They were extremely professional and replied to my order request within 24 hours. I have already placed my next order with them!

This is a LONG overdue review! Oakleaf is unbelievable! I had my sons 1st birthday cake/ cupcakes made with these folks in 2021 and so glad I did! What sets them apart and earns them their true 5 rating is the bakery part of this "Bake Shop". The owner, cake baking professionals, Amanda and Tyler are truly great Patisseries Cakes, mini cakes, brownies, cookies, breakfast bars, croissants - are all spot on and extremely delish THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SUPPORTED - forget their competitors Pricing, portion size are also excellent They even have breakfast sandwiches Let's goooooooo!!

I only got a chocolate chip cookie and not a cake, but I thought their cakes on display were so pretty! They were so detailed, and I saw a book cake, and a bibimbap cake, which was super cool. The chocolate chip cookie was huge and really good. Will def be back to try a red velvet cupcake or cake one day!

I can't say enough good things about the team at Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop...not only are they all amazing to work with, their work is incredible! I am a repeat customer for sculpted cakes and custom cookies (two baby showers, a birthday, and a graduation) and with each reveal of the final products I'm reminded why they are the best! My mom even saw this cake (for my 1 year old nephew) and said "wow, someone really loves their job!" ~ she's right, and it really shows. What's even better, their cakes and cookies taste just as good as they look (even better, if that's even possible)!

Absolutely delicious baked goods. But plan to spend at least 20 minutes waiting for a cup of coffee, 30 for a latte. A more Un-caffeinated staff I have never seen. Even ordering online means spending time standing and waiting to an oblivious and haughty staff.

The apple cupcake was very fall appropriate, with a little fondant leaf on top. It tasted great too! I usually don't like icing but I finished the entire cupcake by myself, icing included. I also got an iced hazelnut latte. It was pretty good. I just wish it was slightly sweeter, but that's just because I have a major sweet tooth. There are a few tables, but they are very close to each other. I came here to study while enjoying a cupcake and latte but I couldn't handle the noise level of the conversations near me so I had to leave. Overall the pastries and drinks here are unique and worth the price in my opinion. Give it a try!

This beautiful cake was such a disappointment. It was $70 and big enough for about 10 people. We followed the instructions and let it sit at room temperature for 4 hours. nonetheless the cake was very dry and the frosting was greasy. We will not order from this bakery ever again.

Ever since our aborted pandemic wedding Oakleaf has been the go-to source for special occasion cakes for my wife and I. We have never been disappointed. This month they created a custom cake to celebrate a car restoration project that was finally completed after a year and a half of work. The cake was beautiful and very tasty - it was a big hit with all the mechanics who worked on the car. The cake was adorned with a picture of the car that was simply amazing, they even got the color correct inside and out. The folks at Oakleaf and very responsive and easy to work with. The cake was ready and available on the day/time promised. Great service, great product, Oakleaf is the best!

The toffee shortbread cookie is one of the most delicious treats I have ever eaten. Thick semi firm shortbread with crunchy, buttery edges with a soft, almost gooey, but firm center. It had all the flavors and textures I desire in a delight. A touch of saltiness cuts the richness. I love this cookie!! Vegan iced oatmeal was nice and reversed chocolate chip cookie was very tasty.

They were wonderful to work with. I needed a specialty cake for a last birthday for someone on hospice care. When their medical team changed their timeline, Oakleaf, unbelievably, was able to still fulfill our order. I honestly didn't expect them to and would have been happy with something off the shelf. They made the day extra special for the guest of honor and that means the world to us. Ordering, payments, and all discussions were online, so that was incredibly convenient and they were very responsive. Couldn't have been better.

My husband's favorite anime is Dragon Ball Z, so when it was almost his birthday, I decided that I was going to get him a Dragon Ball Z cake. I found multiple top rated bakeries in and near Boston. To my chagrin, all of the bakeries turned me down because making a Dragon Ball Z was not considered very Instagram-worthy. I kept on looking, however, and finally found Oakleaf Cakes. I contacted them with barely a line of notes because I assumed Oakleaf would just turn me down. To my surprise, with only 6-7 days until my husband's birthday, Oakleaf said it would make the cake! Because Oakleaf was not among the highest rated bakeries in Boston, I expected an intricate cake due to the high price, but did not expect a great tasting cake. I was wrong! As someone who generally does not enjoy cakes, I actually really loved the chocolate chocolate cake Oakleaf made for my husband! My husband also loved how the cake looked and cherished it so much that he could not bring himself to eat the dragon fondant sculpture until it went bad! We are so impressed!

My (now) husband and I had a wonderful time working with Oakleaf. Liz was fantastic to work with -- we sent her ideas of what we wanted in our cake. We were fairly specific in that we wanted Fall themed with owls as toppers wearing baseball caps (one forward and one backward with the SF Giants logo and the Boston Red Sox logo). It was a strange request that turned out beautifully and totally quirky and us! Aesthetics aside, the cake was delicious. We did alternating layers of chocolate with oreo buttercream and yellow cake with blueberry buttercream. We also did cupcakes with the same flavors. We got so many compliments on how yummy everything was. We would DEFINITELY work with Oakleaf again!

Oakleaf bakery is AMAZING!!!! They really delivered when it came to creating a cake for my mother's 70th birthday. This review is specifically for the vegan/lactose intolerant/dairy free people searching these reviews for signs that Oakleaf might meet their dietary needs. (Note: I cannot say how well they might meet the needs of someone with an allergy) My husband is very severely lactose intolerant. He won't go into shock like with a dairy allergy, but pretty much any cross contamination will make him sick. We have made purchases from Oakleaf 4 times now and he has never had an issue. We tried a vegan poptart, vegan cheesecake (amazing), vegan cookie, vegan cupcakes and today I bought my husband a vegan cake. And, speaking as someone who freely eats dairy, I honestly could not tell the difference with any of that stuff. Not even a little bit. In regards to the cake, I bought a 5" gourmet cake for my husband's birthday. Their website makes it sound like you just get basic flavors and basic designs but they are way underselling themselves. The cake comes in three flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet, but they have sooooo many buttercream/frosting flavors. Additionally, there are a ton of designs to choose from and you can customize a bit. I chose a chocolate cake with Oreo frosting and some little silver beads on it. It ran me about $28 but was worth every penny!! The cake was so moist and every bit as delicious as a cake with dairy. It is dangerous that this place is so close to my work and I will absolutely be back.

I needed a birthday cake for my dad's 70th and was looking for something to really wow the guests at his birthday celebration. The team at Oakleaf did an amazing job from the ease of communication, helpfulness with my cake selection, and the final product. I had asked for a cake in the shape of a boat with a figurine of my dad fishing off the side. The cake was truly spectacular and the guests were blown away by how incredible the cake looked (and tasted). I'd definitely use Oakleaf for a specialty cake again!!

Beautifully designed cake! Unfortunately, we wanted to eat the cake as well. We ordered one book layer to be red velvet with Oreo frosting/filling underneath the fondant. The cake was ok, but the frosting was bland. Not good at all. We tried the 2nd book (layer). We ordered that layer to be chocolate with Nutella filling/frosting. The cake was fine. Not dry or moist. Unfortunately, no Nutella! More of the Oreo frosting. We put the rest of the mostly uneaten cake in the common room of my daughter's dorm. A day later, there is still leftover cake. The fact that a dorm filled with students didn't devour this cake is very telling. If you want a beautiful cake for pictures, this is your place! If you want to eat delicious cake, please keep looking for another bakery.

I am a long time customer, and can say for certain that the quality of all of their products is astounding, and their artistry is out of this world! if you're going to go out of your way to support a small business, the good people at Oakleaf deserve it more than any small biz I have been to in my long time living in the city. You have to see it to believe it!

This review is based on their customer service/ my ordering experience. I reached out on June 3rd with an inquiry for a custom cake for a corporate event. I specifically shared that I was extremely flexible and could even do a macaron or cupcake tower, but would love to speak with someone to get their expert opinion on what would work best for our party size. Since this is a corporate event, I wasn't too worried about meeting the minimum spend- instead, I was more interested in making sure I ordered the perfect cake for the occasion and really wanted to speak with someone. After a few emails exchanges later, I kept insisting for a phone call, but it seemed like the bakery didn't care to pick up the phone and call. Instead they just wanted to make it clear that their minimum spend on a cake is $350 and they don't deliver (with certain exceptions). They will also charge an additional fee for consultants going back and forth with me on customizing my order - which I was still waiting for. I really did not appreciate how they made the interaction all about the money, and didn't care to ask once what I actually wanted. I called them twice and there was no option to speak with a live person, when finally I emailed them back for the 4th time asking if they don't have the time for a phone call they should just let me know, so I can place an order with another bakery. Finally, a full day later (after hours) I get a call from someone and because I am not working around the clock, it went to voicemail. I immediately followed up with an email sharing that I had now placed an order with another bakery for close to $1,000 because they had taken the time to hear me out and understand my needs which Oakleaf just wanted to talk about their $350 minimum, additional fees and no delivery. I did mention in my email, that they should not avoid requests for phone calls because sometimes customers need their expert advice. I got the most nonchalant response to my email, which further proved how little they cared about this corporate order. I will never be placing an order with this company and they just lost a large corporate client they could have had a long term partnership with. It's about how you treat your guests, no matter where they come from. I am so glad I saw this side of Oakleaf.. Furthermore, if I am spending close to $1,000 on a cake, do I not get to speak with a live person about my requirements?? Is that too much to ask? My email exchanges were with 3 different representatives- I can't even imagine how terribly messages would've been communicated from one person to another at this bakery. It took 6 days to get a voicemail from them. They are extremely money minded and don't care about your needs

Amanda and her team at Oakleaf went above and beyond for my daughter's special day! She wanted a Stranger Things cake and they far exceeded our expectations. We couldn't have imagined how unbelievable the cake would have turned out. Thank you so much for your incredible talents!

I was so excited to get this cake. When I got it, I was impressed with how beautiful it looked. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the taste, particularly the frosting. It was super bland and had a gluey texture. It barley tasted like anything independently of the cake. The cake, however, was moist and well flavored. If you want you cake to look good, I would give this place a try. If you want a delicious cake, I would would keep searching for better taste. I am disappointed as I really wanted to like this place, but it looks like I'm throwing away most of this cake.

As they entered Wellesley Books for the launch of Rita Zoey Chin's novel, the attendees were absolutely entranced by the sight of THE STRANGE INHERITANCE OF LEAH FERN in cake form. The artistry involved was impeccable, and the scent of peppermint and chocolate hanging in the air was enticing. When the flavors hit the tastebuds, people couldn't believe that it could also be so delicious! If you, like me, are a "You get what you pay for" person, Oakleaf Bakery is for you.

Oak Leaf did our wedding cake, and it was absolutely perfect. Aside from tasting amazing, they worked with us to customize certain decor on the cake, including adding a fondant figure of our dog on the side which looked exactly like him. The delivery was smooth and well on time in advance of our ceremony/reception, and the cake itself was a hit on our dessert table.

Delightful little bakery! Very fast, attentive service from extremely welcoming staff! The bakery has a good selection for being so small! They have several types of cupcakes and cakes in varying flavors and sizes. They also have vegan friendly options which are still super tasty by the way (i'm not vegan).

This place is amazing, I had a vegan muffin for the first time and oh my so good. I ordered at the last minute a VEGAN birthday cake and they were happy to help me . The Cafe is located near Symphony Hall in Boston and I highly recommend dropping in to see all that they have to offer. Can't wait to try the RED VELVET CAKE TONIGHT. I must say I'm so happy to have found this place as the cake was beautifully decorated and moist inside and not really sugary frosting you might find on some cakes .

Got the vegan cupcake, oreo flavored! Good quality, but a little small for what you pay for. The cookies looked a little dry, but they had cool flavors. The cupcake was sweet but a little dry, but good for a little snack. Not somewhere I'd go for large orders, but a nice option to try some vegan flavors and sit and work.

Very easy online ordering and pick-up process on a designer cake (which is not easy to find around here)! We got the designer Batman cake for my son's birthday, and it was a hit with the toddler crew. Unfortunately, the fondant and Batman decor was way too thick to be edible (like a solid 1/3 inch of black dyed fondant) and made it even a challenge to slice. The buttercream was dry and flaked off from the cake. We followed instructions (left out 8 hours). I would recommend Oakleaf for a beautiful cake, if you don't care as much about the taste (but you might be better offer with something non-fondant..)

I worked with Oakleaf Cakes to create custom cookies for a virtual event. I didn't have a lot of time to work with and had to rush our (very large) order to meet the deadline and Oakleaf had no problem making it happen (thank you!). The cookies turned out even better than expected. Beautiful and tasty. Everyone LOVED them!! I highly recommend working with Oakleaf for events and especially custom orders.

I ordered a vegan chocolate cake for my best friend's birthday from Oakleaf Cakes and let me tell you, it may have been the best chocolate cake I've ever had. First of all, as a Chinese girl that grew up on Chinese bakery style cakes with whipped cream as frosting, regular frosting grosses me out. Might as well be eating spoonfuls of sugar, okay? But Oakleaf's buttercream frosting is PERFECT. So airy and not sweet, which is important to me. Then came the cake. Moist and chocolatey and I've never wanted to buy an entire cake for myself this bad. Definitely coming back to Oakleaf for future occasions.

Our cake ended up being one of my favorite parts of our wedding! When we walked into the venue and I saw it for the first time, I think I squealed with delight. We did a tasting/consultation in advance (and we actually had two separate appointments because we wanted to try the funfetti cake and trust me - it was worth it!) and ended up going with a four layer cake for our wedding of about 120 guests (we had estimated high at 150 before we got our RSVPs back). Our flavors were funfetti (SO GOOD) and vanilla and we chose a mix of lemon, raspberry and blueberry icing and vanilla fondant. Thankfully, our wedding coordinator sent us back to the hotel with a sampling so we could try each and every flavor combo (since it's really true that you barely eat at your own wedding!). We saved and froze the whole top layer and I'm already looking forward to eating it on our anniversary. Worth noting, we also got an assortment of vegan cupcakes for a couple of our dairy free guests and they were also a huge hit! We also got a custom birthday cake for my niece since our wedding fell on her fourth birthday and we heard that was delicious as well :) The bakery itself is so cute and they have a delicious variety of pastries, cupcakes and coffees.

Cute space and the customized cakes on display look gorgeous. With respect to their bakery items available for purchase the selection is limited to some cookies, pop tarts, and cupcakes. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie to-go. The cookie was a bit overbaked in my opinion and more dry than chewy than one would expect for a bakery style cookie.

I ordered a vegan vanilla gourmet 7" cake here for a birthday. They were very responsive to email, prompt with service, followed my wishes for cake design and flavor exactly, and all at a great price. Reason it's not 5-star is because the cake was a bit dry and not as moist as can be, but other than that, we were happy with the purchase.

They made a custom cake for my mothers birthday. It was perfect, even better than the picture. It was a real hit at the party - and great customer service - they were in touch every day.

I was introduced to this place by a coworker last year. I've been in love since! I got my birthday cake there in 2019, the vanilla is very buttery and flavorful same as the buttercream. The cupcakes were amazing, very cute designs. My friend enjoyed her cheesecake. Friendly staff and fast service. I'd recommend here!
