Oat Bakery - Review - Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara - The Infatuation

"Oat Bakery is a small Scandinavian bakery on Lower State Street that makes gorgeous seed-crusted bread loaves with organic ingredients, down to their sourdough starter. Don't expect to linger around with a coffee and pastry though, because it's not that kind of bakery. It's more of a grab-and-go operation where you pick up olive-studded focaccias and date-almond buns that you'll probably snack on in the car. The swirly blue and white sourdough is also a must-try, especially with the shop's vegan artichoke spread that should be generously slathered on top." - Sylvio Martins

A Perfect Way to Spend a Day Eating and Drinking Through Santa Barbara - Eater LA

"Count longtime Santa Barbara resident Oprah Winfrey among Oat Bakery’s numerous fans, who swear by the organic bakery’s breads and pastries. Bakers use organic oats and unbleached flour to produce focaccia loaves, date almond shitake rolls, date almond bread, and even gluten-free options." - Matthew Kang

Oat was one of the best places we went during our time in Santa Barbara. We tried it early on during our trip and couldn’t stop talking about it and returned to get more. Our favorites were the sage/garlic bread, super seed cookie, and cinnamon bun. All were so fresh and perfectly made. The staff was also friendly. This is a place I would recommend to everyone going to Santa Barbara. Of note- it is primarily for take out as there is not any seating on the inside.

Google
Finally got to try their famous sourdough! I visited twice before and both time they were closed. This is a tiny bakery, takeout only, and you can see the bakers work behind the open counter. the smell of the freshly baked bread just lured you in! We got the signature Sesame Charcoal Sourdough. The crust is thin and fragrant with nutty sesame seeds, the crumb is unbelievably beautiful with charcoal and wheat marble, and it’s super tender and fluffy. This is the most enjoyable sourdough I have had the past years. We also had the focaccia with onion and cheese. It’s savory, light and airy in texture and has the satisfying chewiness from the crust. I will definitely come again.

As a bread enthusiast, I love this place. The sage garlic loaf was so delicious I ate the whole thing in one sitting. Decent price for fancy bread (~$7-13), very tasty. Bit of a longer line, maybe 15-20 minute wait at 11:30am

🥖 Bread: The vegan bread options at Oat Bakery are simply outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the variety they offer, with each bread being fresh and warm. Their sourdough with flaxseed was amazing - chewy and slightly yeasty, just delicious. The vegan cinnamon rolls and veggie sandwich were incredible too. The quality and taste of their bread, especially the unique ones like the seed bread and the one with cheddar cheese and apples, left a lasting impression on me 🏡 Atmosphere: Oat Bakery is a cozy and charming spot, a true hidden gem in Santa Barbara. It's a tiny place but has a great vibe, very organic and authentic. The bakery, with its counter opening right onto the street, adds a quaint and welcoming touch. It felt great to be there, enjoying their delicious offerings in such a homely environment 😍 Overall Experience: I was truly amazed by the quality of breads and other items at Oat Bakery. Everything I tried was exceptional. This place is definitely on my must-visit list for Santa Barbara, and I plan to load up on their delicious breads every time I'm in town. It's not just a bakery, it's an experience - one that I highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in Santa Barbara In summary, Oat Bakery is a delightful discovery with its excellent vegan bread options and cozy ambiance, making it a must-visit for anyone in Santa Barbara looking for fresh, warm, and tasty bakery items. There are no seating areas. You wait in line, get in, select, buy and leave happy!!!

Google
Best find in Santa Barbara!!! We were lucky to be staying a couple doors down and happened to walk into this cute little bakery. The women that work there are just so lovely and you get to see them at work making their breads. We really enjoyed the sweets. They use a date paste instead of sugar and later I found out they are vegan also. You MUST try the Hygge bun which is like a little cinnamon roll baked fresh daily and warm from the oven😋We went every day for breakfast and even brought some home to put in the freezer. This was like a dream for me since I cannot have sugar cane or dairy so I usually am not able to get sweets. Absolutely THE best!

Google
Yes yes and yes again! The garlic sage bread was one of the best breads I’ve had in The States. And the cinnamon morning bun had just the right amount of sugar and left an amazing aftertaste. Wish I would have grabbed more to go before leaving Santa Barbara. This place will remain on my radar! Definitely a must try if you’re in the neighborhood!

Google
Looking for a loaf of sourdough for a camping trip, my best friend and I stumbled into Oat Bakery at the end of their day. We were greeted by 3 smiling girls cleaning up for the day. Left with two loafs of day old and a warm feeling. Enjoyed the bread with breakfast lunch and dinner, looking forward to each slice. Now a staple on our SB camping trips.

I love this place and this is the go to for Holidays. The spreads are delicious and breads are always such a hit at our Thanksgivings, Easters, and Xmas Dinners.Definitely check this place out! The spreads are my favorite, the ingredients are all Whole Foods, no processed crap. Yum!

Yelp
High quality pastries. I've liked everything I've tried: date+almond loaf, flakey goat cheese tart, those sweet cinnamon twists, and some other baked goods with fancy foreign names I am forgetting. It's not cheap. Unless you deny what your heart wants, its tough to escape for under $20. Worth it though. Note: the one thing I did not enjoy from here was a seed bread. I typically love non-sweet, nutty, earthy kinds of breads, but the one I got here was a tad underbaked and frankly tasted a bit sour. It was sort of squishy in the middle and I regretted spending the cash on it. However, a friend whose food taste I respect said their seed bread is awesome, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to a "bad batch". For the out-of-towners: swing by Oat Bakery if you crave truly high-quality pastries made with care and wholesome ingredients. But it you're a casual breadster who just wants a cheap sugar/gluten fix, this isn't the spot! Head to Ralphs or Vons and get the generic pastries in the plastic containers.

Yelp
Very impressed with the quality of their products -- a wide selection of healthy breads and other baked goods, filled with seeds and organic grains. It's a tricky balance for bakeries to create yummy pastries and breads that are delicious yet health-conscious. When I go on vacation, I always look for a great croissant or baguette or pastry to go with my morning coffee. This time, our hotel was luckily next to this gem of a Danish bakery, and I only had to walk half a block after finding it on Yelp! My favorite was the frosnapper - a wonderfully crunchy and nutty twisted pastry, which combines sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and marzipan cream. Delicious with a cup of coffee.

Yelp
I loved Oat Bakery. The staff was very friendly when I walked it. The store is relatively small because they were using all the space to make bread. I love that. I ordered the Sourdough Focaccia, ($8) made from organic sourdough starter, organic unbleached wheat flour, and organic olive oil. The flavor at the time was rosemary and cheese. It was so delicious. My partner had the The Hygge bun, which is their version of a cinnamon roll. ($6). He loved it! It's a lovely place to get delicious bread.

Yelp
Such a cute European bakery! Love their exterior decor - this is a small shop that offers a variety of breads & pastries. We stopped by in the morning, about an hour after they opened and so they were fully stocked with everything! Based on their recommendation, we picked out a few pastries for breakfast. Of our selects, the frøsnapper was my favorite! We also got the savory hygge and the hygge bun (which tasted like a healthy vegan cinnamon bun). The staff was super friendly and nice. They also greeted our pup and offered her a treat, which she took graciously. Now I only wish I had grabbed another frøsnapper!

Yelp
Their breads are truly phenomenal! I tried their garlic sage bread, shiitake shallot bread, superseed cookie, truffle cashew cream cheese, Miso scallion sourdough focaccia, and olive lemon zest sourdough focaccia. Everything was delicious but the truffle cheese, and sourdough focaccia were by far my favorite items! Truly mouthwatering and amazing. It's nice that they have so many vegan options too :) the staff were also very helpful and friendly. You are able to pre-order on the phone with a minimum $25 purchase and added gratuity but it was helpful in case you don't want to wait in their line, as they get very very popular in the mornings!
google avatar

Hanna S.

Yelp
Fresh organic ingredients, lots of vegan options. Even for their spreads. I love their seed and charcoal sourdough They have a wonderful gluten-free cookie and two gluten free seed breads.
google avatar

Lorissa W.

Yelp
Unique European bakery. Very cute and tiny. There seems to be a line all the time. We bought a cinnamon bun a breadstick that looks like a pretzel filled with marzipan and a seed cookie which we haven't tried yet. We had the cinnamon bun today and also the pretzel looking bread filled with marzipan and it was delicious. Super fresh and tasty. I've never had anything like this. In fact I prefer this over a donut or the pastries I recently had at Alessia Bakery which is my favorite bakery in Santa Barbara. I would like to come here every morning during my vacation in Santa Barbara this week. It's probably the most special thing I've had. Highly recommended. We enjoyed it with some coffee and berries at our rental home.

Yelp
The cutest Scandinavian bakery - loved the blue theme all throughout the bakery. And it's so fun to watch the bakers baking the pastries and loaves right as you walk in. All breads and pastries are loaded with super foods, organic, and super hearty and healthy! Hygge bun - healthier version of a cinnamon bun, j love the texture and how dense it was. The date spread with the cinnamon was perfect and not overly sweet. Superseed cookie - I love the varieties of seeds (oats, sesame) and the dates make this cookie super hearty.

Yelp
This visit was unique in that this bakery is known for their emphasis on quality ingredients and traditional recipes. The Rosemary Focaccia paired well with the Truffle Cashew Cream Cheese and the Hygge Bun was a sweet blend of dates, walnuts and cinnamon. Every item would be perfect with a morning coffee. 10/10 recommend!!

Yelp
They really don't need another great review...but here it is anyway. I've been a customer for 4 years. I have never had a bad customer service experience at Oat. The goods here are so amazing that I go back again and again. More expensive than a loaf of grocery store bread? Possibly. Better quality and beneficial to my health? Definitely. I can't believe it took me so long to review them.

Yelp
Oat Bakery has literally the best bread I've ever eaten in my life. I got the charcoal sourdough loaf and I wish I got more because it was divine! I also had the focaccia with cheese and it was truly amazing. The bakery smells so good and everything is made fresh. The service was great and the employees were so nice. They even let us know that a fresh batch would be ready if we waited a few extra minutes. I wish there were more locations - especially closer to LA. I can't wait to go back on my next Santa Barbara trip!

Yelp
Amazing bread. Purchased two small loaves (pumpkin seed, date) they were superb. Thanks for a great job developing the recipes and baking. Although not a resident of Santa Barbara, will stop by again next time i am in the area. Thanks!
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Got the garlic sage & the artichoke kale loaves & omg sooo yummy & aromatic! I arrived 30 min before closing so they didn't have a ton of bread left over so definitely need to arrive earlier next time.
google avatar

Suzan C.

Yelp
The bread here is off the charts, crazy expensive but worth every bite! Went just as they were about to close and happy to report, no line!

Yelp
I went to Oat Bakery because I just love freshly made bread. They had a few gluten free options that my husband can enjoy. I like that you don't have to order full sized loaves and can order smaller half or third portions. I wish I ordered a full size Tomato and Shallot Focaccia (5 stars). Every bite of it was delicious. The memorable flavor combination of the tomatoes and shallots added savory and umami notes to the soft and fluffy focaccia. There was also a little rosemary that complemented and didn't steal the spotlight from the primary flavors. The Super Seed Bread (4 stars) is a hearty gluten bread filled with lots of whole grains and seeds. It's unique and nothing I've had before. The nutrient and fiber packed bread is filling with just a small portion. I liked their recommendation to heat it up on cast iron pan with butter. The service (5 stars) was excellent. It's been a while since I've been to a bakery with sincerely friendly smiles where they took the time to explain their products and get to know their customers. I'm used to the pressure to quickly choose and brief responses to my questions. The bread is fresh so they recommend refrigerating or freezing it you don't eat it all the same day. If I lived in Santa Barbara, then I would definitely go here regularly.

Araceli V.

Yelp
Small bakery. The focaccia I purchased was incredibly flavorful. Well worth it. Location has plenty public parking around.
google avatar

Yelp
Limited parking. Cute little bakery with an open kitchen. No dine-in available. Everyone was friendly and had a smile on their face. I got the Hygge bread, which had swirls of sticky Cinnamon. It was my first time here and, honestly, I thought it was going to taste like cardboard, lol. Nope, it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly sweet. The only thing I'm not quite sure of is if it was supposed to be doughy in the center. I was afraid it was raw, so I just ate around it. I couldn't go back because I was already on the road. I'd definitely come back and try more pastries, though.
google avatar

Bernadette Y.

Yelp
Back to 5 stars... apparently the last time I went they accidentally packed me two gluten free loaves. So glad I called and spoke to Allie - she confirmed that was probably what was going on. Went back today and they were kind enough to correct the matter. I'm happy to report, the almond date loaves are still delicious! As well as the super cookies and hygge loaf.
google avatar

Gary F.

Yelp
I just tried some tasty treats from the oat bakery. OMG those cookies are good and still healthy.. I've been trying to stay away from bread with a lot of flour, etc. they have the super seed bread that is very

Yelp
Loved this little bakery! I came here on a Tuesday at noon and was able to park in their 15 min street parking spot. The young man at the cash register welcomed me with a big smile and helped me pick what to order. I got the superseed cookie, the olive focaccia bread, and the hygge bun. Everything was delicious and nutritious! The sweet pastries were just right, flavorful and not super sweet - which I enjoyed. Can't wait to come back and try some more pastries!

Yelp
When I first visited this unassuming bakery, I had a particular expectation in mind - a quaint French bakery with classic breakfast foods, tea, coffee, and a charming outdoor seating area. However, I quickly realized that this spot is anything but typical. While there's no seating and no traditional bakery fare, what they do offer is a delicious variety of healthy, fresh, and wholesome breads that exceeded my expectations. The breads here resemble massive scones, but in reality, they are delightful little rounded loaves. One of their standout offerings is the superseed cookie, which is absolutely amazing. The focaccia bread is nothing short of divine, with the perfect crumb that would make it an ideal choice for a dinner party. This bakery is a true gem for locals who can appreciate the convenience of taking home these artisanal breads. Tourists might be a bit confused due to the lack of seating and to-go-only service, but I would recommend trying something easy to eat on the go, like the superseed cookie, and then coming back for more to enjoy at home. These breads are perfect for pairing with freshly cooked California or Italian cuisine, and I know I'll be coming back more frequently than I probably should! While not the French bakery I initially imagined, this spot has won me over with its unique offerings and commitment to quality.

Yelp
What a delicious find! Santa Barbara on a Tuesday at 10am was super mellow. This was our first stop on our morning walk along State Street. Although not on State Street, it's only about a half block out of the way. We arrived to plenty of options and no wait. It was a hard decision for us, but we eventually chose Garlic and Sage and Almond and Date bread. Both equally delicious! The garlic and Sage is savory with strong notes of garlic and the Almond and date was on the sweeter side containing a nice amount of almonds and dates. A definite must visit when you're in Santa Barbara and you love bread.
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
Go early! Be prepared to wait! But the wait is worth it! The bread is delicious fresh and warm! It's like a cozy feeling when having a slice in the morning with tea or coffee or later in the day with a sandwich or part of charcuterie. The country sourdough is delicious but beautiful. Perfect for that Avo toast or sandwich, or just drizzle olive oil on a slice. The rosemary olive focaccia is perfect with a generous amount of green olives on top. Perfect to eat alone or with some meats and cheeses. They have a variety of different bread types and sizes. Instead of going to the grocery store and buying stale bread come here for your bread needs. The staff is very friendly as well!
google avatar

Sherprina L.

Yelp
Charcoal bread was amazing. My favorite. We bought a twist stick, was the LAST one at 830a.! It was delish! Zucchini and goat cheese bread was very flaky and yummy, as well as the sour cream bread. We love everything there, spent $80 on an assortment of breads! Will be going back!
google avatar

Kelvin Y.

Yelp
Wow! Healthy or not, Oat Bakery's breads, cookies and pastries were delicious! We really enjoyed the Hygge Bun. Essentially, a healthy version of a Cinnamon Bun. The Chocolate cookie was also amazing. A must stop when in Santa Barbara. Unique, health forward bakery Service was fast, friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Helena M.

Yelp
It tasted so good and was very unique. The bread was delicious 10/10 recommend if you are staying in Santa Barbara the bread taste so fresh and you can tell it was well made
google avatar

Sandy N.

Yelp
AMAZING TRUFFLE CASHEW CREAM CHEESE (and it's VEGAN and gluten free). You can't even tell it's vegan either. Also love the use of different flours and toppings in their bread and crackers (ex miso topped focaccia). Super fun stop in Santa Barbara. Also there's no place to sit inside. More of a grab and go kind of shop. 5/5 food 5/5 service
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
The bread and the spreads are some of the best I've ever had. It's a small shop that has friendly staff and fast service.

AaronandSarah R.

Yelp
Seriously, so delicious. You can't go wrong with anything this place sells. The Hygge bun and focaccia were so delicious. Coming back for goodies to take home with us!
google avatar

Bob E.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bakeries. Every time I'm in Santa Barbara I make sure to stop by and get a loaf of the Charcoal Sesame loaf and a sourdough loaf. I'll usually get either the sage garlic or the shitake shallot. They are all excellent. They've been doing daily focaccias too, and they're just as good. The service is always great, the vibe is chill, and the line moves quick. They sell out though, so get there early!
google avatar

Alexandria S.

Yelp
There is no better bread bakery. Always a must when passing through Santa Barbara or if it is even remotely close.
google avatar

Chrystal S.

Yelp
Was visiting for a couple of days and this place was on my must go list , and omg I feel like I need to move to SB just so I can have the bread from Oat Bakery regularly ! I am so in love ! I got the gluten free super seed bread, the cookie, the Bay leave and Garlic loaf, and the Shirataki Mushroom with Shallot loaf ! Although I am not strict gluten free but I would try to get gluten-free when there are options, I just so pleasantly surprised by everything I bought ! I wish I had gotten more of everything ! I will be visiting SB more just for Oat Bakery !!

Mayra G.

Yelp
The sage garlic bread was delicious. It smelled amazing and was big enough to share. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Haylee A.

Yelp
I'm going to be craving this place until the next time I'm in SB, darn it. Absolutely amazing bread. Honestly the Mushroom Shallot roll might be the best bread I've had- perfect chewy soft texture, flavorful and delicious. The Hygge bun was good too but I would have preferred less nuts. The perfect amount of sweet though (not overly so), good cinnamon flavor and gooey texture. Go here!
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
Stop LOAFing around and get yourself to Oat Bakery! This husband and wife owned Scandinavian bakery has a charming storefront with gorgeous blue tiles and a "we loaf you" pun (more bread puns on their website too!). I've noticed that other restaurants like Satellite use Oat Bakery's organic, handmade bread, so you know their bread has to be good! I loved the hygge (pronounced "hue-gah") bun! Warm and crunchy on the outside, this bun was heavenly with jammy chunks of dates and comforting flavors of cinnamon and cardamom. The thick superseed cookie with dark chocolate wasn't what I expected. It didn't taste like a typical cookie in both flavor and texture but rather a healthy energy bar, but I still enjoyed it as a mid-afternoon snack. The vegan and gluten free truffle cashew cream cheese had a thinner texture similar to hummus; I wish it was thicker like cream cheese. However, the spread was still delicious with a strong truffle flavor and pairs well with the shiitake shallot bun, which was soft and pretty moist inside. Even though it's called a bun, its size is larger and more like a small loaf. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of their buns and breads!
google avatar

Dylan C.

Yelp
I love this bakery and make a point to come here any time I am in Santa Barbara. Last time I was just driving through on the way home from LA to the Bay Area, but still stopped to get a loaf to freeze. The bread loafs are so fun and good! They're small (but appropriately priced!) and have really unique flavors. The sage garlic is my absolute favorite, and I love the whole cloves of garlic in the bread. I also really like the hygge bun, which is the perfect breakfast treat. I'd be here all the time if I lived in SB!

Eric B.

Yelp
The Savory Tart /Basil, cream corn, tomatoes, buttery crust, and a pinch of cracked salt. Hands down probably one of the most delicious pieces of bread I've ever tasted. So good I ran back in the store grinning ear from ear to take some pictures and leave a review. IT WAS FANTASTIC! Oat bakery has a 5 star rating for a ready.

Tessa M.

Yelp
Best find in Santa Barbara!!! We were lucky to be staying a couple doors down and happened to walk into this cute little bakery. The women that work there are just so lovely and you get to see them at work making their breads. We really enjoyed the sweets. They use a date paste instead of sugar and later I found out they are also vegan. You MUST try the Hygge bun which is like a little cinnamon roll baked fresh daily and warm from the oven. We went every day for breakfast and even brought some home to put in the freezer. This was like a dream for me because I cannot have sugar or dairy so I usually am not able to get sweets. Absolutely THE best!

Yelp
I love this bakery!! Their bread is all organic and gluten free and they use health-conscious ingredient. They bake their goods early in the morning so if you come early you can get freshly baked bread. We got the shiitake mushroom and shallots bread, along with the artichoke dip. So.... good! Knowing that what you're eating is healthy & clean makes you feel good - especially when I usually feel guilty when I indulge in carbs. We also got the healthy cookie and the hygge bun. They are both delicious but the cookie is very flaky and doesn't have the texture of your normal flour cookies. Unless you're somehow who enjoys eating healthy options, you might not like this cookie as much. (I personally loved it but my boyfriend still prefers the good old chocolate chips cookie). I didn't know what to expect for the hygge bun since it was my first time trying it - it reminded me of a really healthy cinnamon roll with seeds. It was interesting to try but probably won't get it again. If you love bread and eating healthy - this is the perfect bakery :)
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Fresh, simple ingredients with 0 junk - this is how baking should be done :) very cute shop right off the Main Street!
google avatar

Yelp
OK I think this pastry was one of the best I've had in my life, and I eat a LOT of pastries. Potatoes, ricotta, and flaky dough made for a truly exceptional experience. I've always loved oat bakery and their creative take on bread and baked goods. A fabulous local spot with the nicest people.

Madeline B.

Yelp
Super tasty and cute little bread shop. The vegan spreads are amazing and I'm so happy for those. Just one issue for me- the amount of long hair bakers, loosely tied hair, and no hair nets. That's sort of gross. I have long hair and I know, hair sheds all the time so it's bound to get in the food.
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Great great great service along with DELICIOUS bread and pastries. Stopped by on Sunday around noon and I follow their IG so I saw they were selling a strawberry rhubarb pastry. Unfortunately they sold out by the time I got there but I was still able to get some items Purchased a blueberry lemon tart which was absolutely delicious - perfect balance of blueberry and lemon with a flaky crust. I also got some rosemary sourdough focaccia which I toasted up the next day - soooo yummy. Last thing I got was the blueberry lemon ricotta (can you tell I like blueberry lemon) but it actually did not taste like blueberry or lemon or ricotta. It did taste DELICIOUS however They gave me a bag for the pastry that had "we loaf you" on it - absolutely adorable!! The only thing I would change is for them to post prices somewhere because I just ordered not knowing what costs what. Oh well.. it was worth and I hope I can come back!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Wow!! This place is amazing! The hygge is amazing pronounced ū-gee is like a delicious cinnamon roll without the refined sugar. The employees looked all under 25 yrs old. I love the open concept see the food being made. There is no sitting room. Man if they added coffee to this place I think it could really explode into the next McDonald's lol. Nevertheless, I grabbed some Al fresh warm sourdough and went olive oil tasting down the street. Oh man was it soo good. Thank Oat Bakery. Cheers.

Sam E.

Yelp
The best puff pastries I've ever had in my life. 10/10, no notes. Literally everything they sell is worth a try

Carina B.

Yelp
Delightful little bakery! I was excited to find vegan pastry options and fresh hearty seeded breads. I got a hygge bun, a superseed cookie, and a pumpkin seed loaf. The hygge bun was absolutely amazing!! It was by far my favorite treat that I had during my weekend trip to Santa Barbara. It's like a cinnamon roll but not the typical American overly-sugary cinnamon roll slathered in icing that I'm not a fan of. This was the perfect level of sweetness, had a lovely cinnamon flavor, and was deliciously moist and gooey inside. The superseed cookie was also delicious! It was pleasantly not overly sweet and had a nice seedy flavor without tasting solely like a mouthful of seeds. Such wonderful vegan pastries! The pumpkin seed loaf was fresh and had a nice flavor as well. The staff were nice and friendly. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Santa Barbara!

Yelp
The long lines ARE worth the wait!! Right off of State Street, this is by far the best artisan bread in town. My personal favorite has been the whole wheat sourdough, but I enjoy trying their daily selection of various unique breads such as olive focaccia or charcoal marble loaf. Arrive right at opening time, or try it during the week, for the best chance to avoid the wait

Casey C.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place while visiting Santa Barbara. It had been recommended by a friend, plus the reviews were so high. But once I returned to my lodgings with my bread loaves I realized that every single one was burnt in some way. Not sure if I went on an off day but I doubt it's healthy to eat charred bread, plus it wasn't appetizing or appealing. Not to mention, the breads were quite pricey. I don't mind paying extra for higher quality goods but I felt they had given me inferior products since I had to cut away the burned bits. Would make sure to inspect your bread carefully before leaving the store.

Julianna N.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The line out the door tells the story...delicious and unique breads and pastries.
