TLV Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"This Israeli street food spot, from the team behind Emmer & Rye and Henbit, took over the Easy Tiger space in Fareground Market. It’s a great place for a way-above-average workday lunch or a fun, casual dinner. Bring along your friend who always gets into heated debates at parties by promoting double dipping - they’ll be into the hummus and chicken thigh plate that comes with hot and puffy pita on the side. And since you don’t want to risk getting in the way of their bulldozing style of scooping, order the falafel pita sandwich for yourself to get all of TLV’s best ingredients in a perfect pocket." - Adele Hazan

The 38 Essential Tel Aviv Restaurants

"Tel Aviv’s food scene is young, just like the people behind it. The 20-something Raz Rahav is an Instagram star turned acclaimed chef, and his detail-obsessed outlook has made OCD one of the best restaurants to hit the scene. This creative dining experience includes an eccentric nine-course tasting menu, each dish a wild palette of colors made up of numerous sauces and ingredient combinations, contemporary cuisine that pushes limits. It’s like dining at a private party with incredible service, an intimate tête–à–tête with 18 other diners. (Reservations are a must.) [$$$$]" - Keren Brown

One of the best chefs in Israel, really innovative and tries to grow the Israeli culinary industry. There is much accuracy, quality and innovation in the food. Still its not good value for money, it's not a Michelin star, not all meals are great, some you even won't like. I hope at some point it will grow more and all the meals will blow my mind, but it's not yet there.

It was really great! ‏We parked in a nearby parking lot two minutes walk from the restaurant. The restaurant itself seats about 20 diners and reservations must be made in advance. ‏The seating is at the bar and in the middle there is the kitchen with all the cooks and you can see their work really beautifully. By the way, you can see that they work clean and tidy. ‏After you sit down, the dishes start flowing. In my opinion, every 10 minutes or less a portion comes out. Small portions at first, then larger portions and desserts of course. With every dish comes an explanation about it. The dishes themselves are very special, many of them consist of a single raw material but in a variety of forms, textures and flavors. ‏We also talked to a few cooks who seem to be waiting for questions and making their time especially for you. ‏Overall, the restaurant is very special, they change the menu every few months. After reservation, you can ask for sutibale menu for you food preferences. ‏expensive but matches what you get so no complaints. ‏We will definitely come back, it was fun, tasty and very interesting.

The attention to detail, the careful calculation not to under/over feed the customers and the creativity of the dishes were amazing. I particularly liked the airy potato with a soup, a very savory chicken and the creative tiny entrees. The service was friendly and very attentive. Menu modifications based on dietary requirements, such as vegetarian were available. There were hooks for the bags under the counter - a nice touch. The overall experience reminded me of European one-star Michelin restaurants. I also really appreciated that tips were not accepted and included in the overall price. It was nice to be able to buy some of the jams and sauces home. A few areas for improvement: - The desserts were less delicate than the rest of the meal. It felt like the savory part got much more attention in the design. I would even reduce one of the dessert dishes in favor of delicacy and memorability. - Hot drinks (an infusion or a coffee) didn't cost much, but were strangely not included in the price. While it's expected for alcohol, having something warm to drink to accompany the dessert as part of the meal would be more consistent with the experience. - It would be an even nicer experience to get a quick overview of the whole experience. For example, "no-tips" policy was only explained to us in the end, and while pleasant, it could have saved embarrassment.

Loved the experience! I loved the menu, it is very accommodating to everyone, vegetarian, pescitarian or meat eater. It's amazing. I took the vegetarian menu and absolutely enjoyed it. It's on a very expensive side. Enjoyed it though. One star less as it was my husband's birthday and thought they would offer us something on the house as they did ask us it's any special occasion.

OCD is definitely the BEST restaurant in Israel. They tell a story that begins a week before the actual arrival. Superb service, Michelin level dishes and good atmosphere. The quick visit in the kitchen (e.g. food laboratory) was awesome and explains the special taste the dishes have. Thanks, team OCD. You got my 5⭐️

Amazing experience at this unique restaurant. We've been waiting for this order almost an year. But as we tasted the food we knew it was worth waiting. The restaurant designed to only 2 runs per day if I'm not wrong so in every run there is about 20 people. Everyone get the same food at the same time (almost). We asked for Gluten free option as some of the group had allergy, sadly we vegan to but this was to much for them (and I understand, that is reasonable). The food was very special and very delicious. The staff was explaining the food when serving the plates. Great place ,very pricey. Recommended very much !

This was a very interesting and fun experience. Literally food for thought. Most of the dishes were interesting and deep both texture and flavors wise. The service was overall superb, with the cooks also being the ones serving the food. The olive oil jam is the invention of the century. Can’t wait to come again!

Brunch time! This is a less expansive fixed meal that happens once a week. A whole different vibe, whole different dishes, but everything is made to perfection. So many kinds of amazing breads. We also got some fish (great), beef tartar (perfect) and a pork belly dish (best) that was just so good. Beware that this is a very heavy meal with a lot of different dishes, so don't dive into the bread of you don't have the capacity to eat so much. Because if you miss a dish, it is a shame. As usual, the staff is making everything in front of you, and the waiters make great job of making sure that you are well served. In the price of the meal you get mineral water or sparking water, and they have a small but very good selection of wine! So even if you've been here before In the evening service, this is a different animal. If you haven't been here before, this is a great place to start if the prices for the evening are too much for you. Great brunch, great staff, great restaurant. Probably the closest thing to Michelin star worthy restaurant in Israel. Don't miss it
