Google
From the outside, it looked quite modest—but the food completely blew me away! Everything was authentic, incredibly affordable, and absolutely delicious. I went with a girlfriend and we tried the pineapple bun—it was warm, hearty, and satisfying. The dumplings were packed with shrimp, and the portions were generous. Our server was attentive and kept refilling our teapot without us even asking. I’ll definitely be coming back! 💖💖

I live in the city of Gardena where Japanese and Korean food is king. So for son's girlfriend birthday she want Chinese food. The service was friendly and very polite. Tou feel very welcome from start to end.

Google
Very affordable dim sum with quick service. Stumbled upon this place on a Monday around noon and the place was packed. You pick the dim sum items from a menu and they will steam it and bring it to your table. They also have a line for take out dim sum. I enjoyed the seafood dumpling, porridge and spare ribs. Most of the food was food was pretty standard, but the chicken feet were kinda sour and the turnip cake was too dry (they only pan fried it alone, didn't add any eggs so it was tough and dry).

First time here for dinner to celebrate my father in law Birthday. Surprise that every single dish we order are beyond our expectations that really delicious. Some dishes need to order in advance. Service also good. All waiters are really friendly and efficient. We definitely will come back.

Google

Google
first time here. good food, friendly service. this place is probably more famous for their seafood. the chicken and the ribs were a little tough, but the scallops, clams, and crab were very good. so were the bean sprouts and the pepper hog maw soup, cooked perfectly. everything was very flavorful and distinct. will definitely revisit.

Google
A great place to feel at home and enjoy a nice meal. Everything on the menu is delicious. Ordering is easy and service is great. Very polite and courteous employees, if you’ve never had anything on the menu, you will not be disappointed in your first taste of each item you order. By the time you know it, your whole table is filled with delicious food. My family loves it here and the portions are just right to your liking. Parking is available and is public.

Yelp
Decent priced dim sum in a family environment without the carts going around Some things are better than others, but it's not always consistent. Pineapple salted egg buns tho are a winner ====== $59 for two ppl before tax , tip, and pineapple buns Good Har gow - decently plump shrimp Bean curd roll - tastes a little healthier than hk dim sum house but yummy Chicken feet - nice flavor Ok Shrimp chive dump - tastes fine, but nothing stand out Beef ball - good, but not amazing Shrimp rice roll - fine but nothing stood out Football - could come with more filling and you need to apply pressure to flatten the dumpling Eh Siu mai - slight funk in the pork.. not a fan Sticky rice - could come with more filling Came at 12 and there was a line, but our group of 2 managed to sit down within 10min

Yelp
The food and quality speaks for the low price. Do not come here. Food was less than average, their shrimp and chive dumpling is more than eg and chive dumplings. The worst I have ever had. I ordered 10 items and when I asked for chili sauce the waitress give me just 1 packet, I ask for more and indicating I have 2 whole bags of food and and giving me just 1 is ridiculous. So then she gives me 1 more. Food is bad, I'd be willing to pay more money and get my food and service right at somewhere else rather than saving 5 dollars, and felling mis-spending my 70 dollars. Will never come back and does not recommend.

Yelp
I love their dim sum, authentic Cantonese dim sum. Their crispy eggrolls are my favorite, delicious fillings are meaty w crunchy bamboo shoots and silky mushrooms yummy. Not at all like the weak bland shredded vegetable ones from elsewhere. The white buns w grilled bottoms have delicious meat filling. Their chicken sticky rice is very good. Egg tarts silky with flaky pastry. Siu Mai good quality. Baked cha siu bai bun good. I haven't tried sitdown lunch menu yet, but hoping it's as good as their dim sum. Would give 5 stars, but I deducting 1 star for this employee bad attitude. The only thing I don't like is the tall slim cashier lady at dim sum counter. She's always rude and impatient and acts like she hates her life and job which includes hating customers.

Yelp
Dim Sum on Sunday is a traditional event with the family, so we decided to try a new restaurant to mix it up. Located in El Monte, this location is not as packed as Monterey Park or Alhambra, which is nice. Their servings are smaller than I'm used to, but the taste was okay. I'm not sure I would come back, as the drive was a little further than I wanted for Dim Sum, and I kind of like the crowds, as a sign of good food.

Yelp
Ocean Bo is subtle dim sum location in the SGV. Not the best dim sum but definitely hit the spot if you're looking for consistency and authenticity. My family and I have been here for years and my colleague and I come here when we want dim sum because they live in the area. Prices are fair and cheaper than the Dim Sum restaurants in SGV. They also have a takeout booth where they showcase the dim sums and if you come after 4pm to about 4:30pm, it's discounted price. They used to be able to take credit cards but recently started, CASH ONLY after 4PM! What I like are their shuimai, chicken feet, egg tarts, seaweed rolls, chives dumplings and their salted egg yolk buns. They serve hot tea or Lemon Ice tea. They are located in a shopping center and easy to get to with a parking lot but it gets filled on weekends.

Yelp
One of the cheaper places for dim sum, not by much, but if you're craving dim sum it is a satisfying place. We got chicken feet, spare ribs, shui mai and honeycomb tripe. Big portions. Tripe is my go to staple! Servers are your typical disgruntled people. Barely talk to you. They prefer to speak Cantonese.

Yelp
Save your time and money and skip this place Called in for 4 orders of dim sum. Drove 15 minutes only to find out that none of the dim sum I ordered was available, not one. Wasted a half hour of travel time and gas
google avatar

Yelp
Their dim sum is not the best and not the worst. I used to come here more often during Covid because they have a to go area. It's never a long wait. Price is reasonable to keep me coming back. I do have a favorite dish which is their lava yolk buns! So good!!

Yelp
Sorry, I had to knock down a star, my boss took a couple of the employees out for dinner and one of the employees recommended this restaurant even though I have been here before but for dim sum only. My coworker said this restaurant has great dinners selection. She ate here before with her friends. There's some items needs to be preordered like some of their chicken. We asked the waiter for recommendations because most of us haven't eaten here before so of course the waiter ALWAYS recommends the expensive items lol. We asked him what's good and he said " most people ordered this or that, and all the pictures menu on the wall are our popular items ". So we went with his suggestions and ordered about 6 items. I only like 2 out of the 6 items. The others are either too bland, and too tough like their famous sweet and sour pork ribs, that one was just awful, it was hard, too sweet and it has a sour vinegar taste. But I did like the oysters pancakes with green onions, is a little soggy cuz of the oysters but is good. My supervisor ordered the crispy noodles with seafoods. I didn't like that one either, cuz of the dry noodles, maybe because it reminds me of eating it like instant noodles out of the bag cuz I was too lazy to cook it lol you know you done that before, I think we all have lol. The honey walnut shrimp was ok, the walnut was burnt, my coworker said because they used old oil. The other one is the egg plant with pickled vegetables, I like that one too even though the pickled vegetables was a little salty, that's why you ask for white rice so you can eat it together. The egg plant wasn't overly cooked. Then the sticky crab rice, is ok. Sticky rice wasn't as sticky, is like soggy and flaky, didn't really stick together. The crab was ok, skinny, didn't have any roe/eggs or fat ? Tasted like a dead crab, it wasn't fresh, cuz it was really easy to break the shell of the legs and claws. After the meal, they give you some steam sponge cakes and some taro desserts. I didn't try the sponge cake so I can't comment on that but the taro dessert was ok, I don't like taro. Overall, it was an ok dinner. The service was ok, we kept asking for hot water for our tea, but I think I'll just stick with it their dim sum, is good and inexpensive. They don't serve that all day so go early before 12 pm, I'm not sure if they still serve dim sum after 3 pm lol

Yelp
A good place to grab dim sum! They have all of the favorites and each plate was delicious. They also have an express takeout if you don't plan on dining in.

Yelp
Came here for dim sum then mother's day dinner. We were lucky to get a last minute dinner reservation from this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. My family was very impressed with their food. My favorite has to be the fish, it was cooked to perfection, so tender and flavorful with the sauce. Pigeons, clams, oysters were also good. We need to come here for dinner more often. Staffs were friendly and great service throughout the entire dinner experience.

Yelp
Back for another visit for dim sum. Ocean Bo offers a great takeout experience. The food is consistently delicious and flavorful. It's easy to get carried away with their extensive menu, as there are so many tempting options to choose from. Not to mention what you see is what you get from looking at their displays. The quality of the food is excellent. The takeout process was smooth and efficient. I highly recommend trying Ocean Bo for takeout. Be prepared to spend some time deciding what to order or you just might pick a little bit of everything.

Yelp
I stopped by Ocean Bo because I was in the neighborhood and wanted a lil dim sum snack. The restaurant has both a take out counter as well as a dining space. Ordering is super easy. Each table comes equipped with paper menus with high quality colored pictures. You simply mark the items you want and flag down a waiter. My sister and I ordered a medley of our favorites: -shrimp har gow -pork shiu mai (5pcs) -garlic spare ribs -bean curd wrap -haim sul gok -seaweed roll Most things we ordered were priced at $4.89 with the exception of the seaweed roll ($6.15). The food comes out quick - they source it from the to-go section. It's easy in and out. You can also order from their non-dim-sum menu which includes a lot of Cantonese favorites. The dim sum was very mid. The best tasting thing we ate was the haim sul guk and even that was very meh. The filing could have stood for more flavor. The bean curd wrap had good flavor however the amount of wood ear mushroom used was super disturbing. Too many pieces and too chewy. Honestly, the true testament to any dim sum establishment is the shiu mai and the version here was oh so meh. It was so soft, mushy, and lacked any flavor. It wasn't very good. Maybe come for the non dim sum items.

Yelp
Look, this place is fire. If you're looking for a dim sum experience that does their cooking in-house still, then you're gonna want to come to Ocean Bo. The food speaks for itself, try anything, I know you're gonna like it. The harshest food critics around, my kids, even enjoy it. I really enjoyed their shumai, I don't know why, but their Chinese broccoli is on point, and the sticky rice is by far the best I've had. The service for a non-Chinese speaker is not as intimidating as other dim sum restaurants as well. The staff is prompt and professional. They took the stress out of not speaking Chinese completely out of it. Not a great place for date night, unless she's a foodie and then she'll respect your game.

Yelp
Ocean Bo is a solid 4/5 place for dim sum. The service is fast and the food portions/prices are great. My favorite dishes were the siu mai and chicken feet. There's usually plenty of parking in the plaza's lot and a few spots for street parking.
google avatar

Magda N.

Yelp
Not too bad. We ordered over the phone to pick up and it was pretty smooth. He told us that kitchen doesn't open until 11 so food would be ready 15-20 minutes after that. We had no problem with it. Love the mung bean sesame ball! Perfect to end my meal. Pick up is expected. Nobody greets you but they accept card. Parking in this plaza is pretty bad. Hard to find a spot. And when you do find an open spot, lots of times car next to it parks horribly so you can't get in.

Yelp
In Search of Pineapple Buns (菠蘿包) ::: BBQ Pork Pineapple Bun ::: Top crust: (3/5) Bread: (3.5/5) Flavor: (4/5) Freshness: (3.5/5) Filling: (4/5) A very solid BBQ pork pineapple bun. The top crust has decent flavor but no real crunch to it - seems like most if not all the top crusts in Los Angeles lack the unique crispiness of the Hong Kong buns. The filling and overall flavor is very good though. Enough to satisfy cravings, and to come back to try and catch it fresh out of the oven. One order comes with two small buns. I'm just very happy this place (and bun) exists. Bonus points for that.

Yelp
Saturday around 2:15, we came in to eat some dimsum. They have take out station as well so you can see the different ones from the menu. We ordered 9 total, my parents also said that the food will come from the take out station which makes sense but also means the dishes have been sitting there for a bit. The only bad ones were the haim sui gok, shrimp har how, pork shiu mai, and sesame balls. They were cold and not as fresh...minus a star I still enjoyed the pork spare ribs, chicken feet in black bean sauce, Tea is 1.25$ a person. We spent roughly 60$ plus tip 70$. Overall it was pretty good, next time it might be better if we get there early. Restrooms are gendered and one of the stalls had the toilet so close to the door I felt like my knees would touch the door as I sat down!

Yelp
This place is legit. We had dim sum and some lunch dishes. I recommend trying the Yang Chow Fried Rice. Not one of the specials but it's delicious! We tried the fried squid and it was decent. The service and ambiance were as you would expect at any other typical dim sum restaurant.
google avatar

Armando R.

Yelp
Delicious and super affordable, I highly recommend this local gem. You order your dim sum on a picture page and check off your items and they bring your order to the table.
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
This place was not the best dim sum I've tried, but I would say it's one of the better Chinese restaurants in El Monte. The food here is definitely cheaper than other dim sum places I've tried, which does correlate to their quality of food. The service here is also really quick--which I like--due to most of the food already being premade.
google avatar

My C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite dim sum restaurants. I love that you have the option to dine in or order to go at the front. I have tried both and the service is always quick. Instead of waiting for the dim sum carts to arrive, you can simply order your food and they bring everything to you. I have never had an issue and the food always tastes good. I have seen them super busy in the mornings. I have recommended this to several friends who enjoy dining here! Well done Ocean Bo!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on Sunday at almost 2pm and got seated immediately. Ordering was quick and easy via a menu with pictures. Service was quick. Food was delicious and prices were fair. Will definitely return again for a quick dimsum fix!
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
Super yummy dim sum!! Will definitely return for takeout again. Convenient location that's not too far either.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty decent quality for dimsum, not the best but pretty good for the price! Quick service & everything was tasty. Perfect for lunch if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going to this place for a long time. Their food is good . Service is fast. Place is clean and real authentic Chinese restaurant. They have all you need for a quick meal. Siomai, Chicken and Pork buns, noodles etc. But its only until 3 pm . After 3 pm is dine-in service. I love the Chicken feet, so good ! The prices are affordable !
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 kind of place, and if you know what that means when it comes to Chinese restaurants then you have a winner. Overall this is less of your traditional dim sum place. There's no ladies with carts to get your order, you order on a paper menu and everything comes out to you. Not the worse thing! Beats trying to track down the dim sum ladies across the restaurant. I usually order to go here and the ladies taking your order are surprisingly accurate even though there's a language barrier and I'm just giving them numbers. I think their ha gow and shrimp rice rolls are my favorite, they use jumbo shrimp which I haven't seen at most places. The other items are pretty good as well. -1 star because there's a LOT of filler / wood ear mushroom in some of the items, and everything is pretty salty. Overall a solid to go dim sum place though! Cleanliness is passable, big parking lot but tiny spots
google avatar

Carolyn B.

Yelp
I went on a Sunday at 2 pm and the place was pretty full with customers eating at round tables. You have to order at the restaurant cashier for take out that isn't dim sum. They have a separate counter for dim sum. I don't speak Chinese but the staff understood my gesturing to gather up what I wanted. They have wu gok( the fried taro puffs), haim sui gok, pork shu mai. sesame balls and plump shrimp har gown for $5.05 each order. As I was ordering it became a bit confusing because the lady who was assisting me began doing something else, so another person took over. I also ordered beef chow fun from the other counter. The dim sum is nice sized. Not overly salty or greasy. They didn't include any hot sauce but threw in plenty of forks and a small thimble of sauce for the beef rice roll. I was also surprised that there was parking available but I think I came late enough in the day.

Kathy Y.

Yelp
With so many dim sum places options in the SGV area, I'd say this place stands out as the "dim sum with a view" (the Peck Road view!) lol For people who need a picture of what you're ordering, the menu has all their items with pics (very helpful with the kids to point to the picture!)
google avatar

Theresa A.

Yelp
Clean, quick service, delicious dim sum. Never fails to please. This is our go to place for dim sum.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Ordered for takeout and really enjoyed the below: - har gow : skin is a little thicker than ideal but big size of prawn -siu mai: good - turnip cake: good - baked char siu bao: pretty sweet but was still yummy to me Love how quick and easy it is to pickup from here.
google avatar

Manuel O.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service, with some amazing shumai and seaweed rolls! Came here for my birthday and had a great time, the waiter was very accommodating.
google avatar

Teeling L.

Yelp
The food is decent, we usually get takeout for dim sum from here. Service is minimal but efficient. The restaurant definitely needs an upgrade, everything looks old and seating is pretty tight! I think they changed their chef lately, few dishes we ordered from the kitchen was really disappointed! Sadly, the dishes were not authentic anymore, even the white rice was not fully cooked! I would only recommend their dim sum not their main dishes!
google avatar

Macel S.

Yelp
This Chinese restaurant serves great-tasting food with excellent portions and top-notch service. Definitely worth a return visit.
google avatar

Miranda Y.

Yelp
This place has been here for years. I come here for dinner and the foods are extremely salty. It rates like the chef put 1 tablespoon of salt in the foods and 2 tablespoons in the soup. The cleanliness of the restaurant is okay. The service is also okay. That's why I rather come for dim sum/brunch more than dinner.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Foods: I had low expectations for this place since I saw 3 stars but so happy I tried ! I think the foods are delicious got a bunch of dim sum items so I recommend trying everything that look appealing: Service : it was empty so service is as you can expect from a Chinese restaurant The place is large and can accommodate large groups
google avatar

Thomas K.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The menu is very simple to understand and order from. Food came out very promptly. Waitress refilled my eater without me asking. She cleaned up empty plates very quickly. The restaurant atmosphere was very homey. Felt like a very traditional Chinese restaurant. Felt like I was going to get authentic food. The food was above average. It's not the best dimsum I've ever had, but not the worst. It was above average. Definitely recommend it to a friend.
google avatar

Nona S.

Yelp
Food is so good 11/10!! Service is fair, typical Chinese restaurant staff. They're sign actually says cash only after 4pm but we got there 3pm and was told cash only. Ambiance is also fair, typical Chinese restaurant. Will def be back for their food
google avatar

Lis K.

Yelp
Yup. Sunday 1pm party of 2 Seated immediately with Fast and efficient service. Dishes well done. Puff pastry bbq pork flaky and delightful. Chicken and salted fish vermicelli was a great balance for orange peel chicken (still crispy under sauce when fresh) and my fave eggplant with green beans. Teenager and I enjoyed the balance of textures and flavors and had a ton of food to bring home. Pretty sure I prefer this venue to some of the dim sum places I normally visit. I would recommend and I will return.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
I just went and ordered Togo dim sum. I totally understand the prices went up. But they didn't pack my full order but charged me for it. I just got to work and checked my bags. I ordered 2 serving of the har gow, 5 orders of the pineapple bbq pork bun, 1 chicken feet, 1 shui mai, and 1 turnip cake. For $60 and some change. There's no har gow in my bags at all. Their dim sum is actually good here. Just heads up, before you leave check all your bags because you might end up paying for something they never put in your bag.
google avatar

Eileen S.

Yelp
Good price. Since business is crowded; with high turnover, the food served is fresh. Shrimps are generously used in some of the food items I ordered.
google avatar

Russ L.

Yelp
Ocean Bo in El Monte not the best but for the price, it's not bad. Nothing fancy but it satisfies the DimSum craving if you want a quick and inexpensive fix. My favorite was the Gao Choi or Chive dumplings. Really delish! The Hargow was decent and not over steamed. The chicken feet tasty although a bit too soft. The BBQ pineapple bun was good, with a lot of filling, not a lot of air like some places. The two worse dishes and I would never order again: the spinach and chive dumpling which tasted weird, and the meatballs way overcooked and very soft and chewy, like too much tapioca flour mixed in. The best thing we ordered was the eggplant and green beans because it came out freshly cooked and still hot. Service was fast and efficient. Dining area felt really cramp but clean. Parking could be difficult during the busy lunch rush hour.

Jessica E.

Yelp
Simple, well-made, affordable dim sum. No carts, just write down your order. We had excellent tofu skin rolls, very light with a generous filling of shrimp and meat with wood ear mushrooms and other veggies. Fried turnip cake was well seasoned and crispy. Simple preserved egg congee also seasoned perfectly. Took home an order of pineapple bbq pork buns that were decent, good flavor, but a little heavier. Want to come back to try other main menu items. Other tables had some amazing looking noodles and vegetable dishes.
google avatar

Lynda B.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood favorite dim sum spot ! It's got a bit more selection than other dim sum places but the pineapple bun here is a good one personally I like the mango pudding and the coconut taro pudding . Service is on point so fast you're literally served quicker than you order ! The restaurant itself has a cool late 80's feel clean bustling atmosphere and great turnover! Really fun ! great for sit down or take away.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around 1 pm. The parking serves many different businesses and was completely packed. The spots are also very narrow and fortunately we had a small car so we were able to park. Seems like there was parking on the street too. There's two entrances, one for to-go (on the left) and one for dine-in (opens to the fish tank). We were immediately seated by one of the employees and given a menu to write down what we wanted to order. The inside is a bit spacious but crowded. There's many tables, including large party sizes down to 2-4 seaters. Not super charming like the cart dim sum locations but very casual and loud. The tables do have cloth coverings that they take to wash between parties. We decided to order the 1. Shrimp Har Gow, 2. Pork shu Mai, 4. Chicken feet, 5. Garlic spare rib, 6. Shark's fin dumplings, 8. Bean curd wrapped meat, 13. Preserved sausage bun, 16. Fried taro gok, and 33. Baked egg tart. Ones I personally wouldn't get again but were still okay: pork shu mai and bean curd wrapped meat were not super flavorful to me compared to the other items. Ended up dipping them in the sauce of the spare rib and chicken feet. Pretty good: shark's fin dumplings (more flavorful than shu Mai), chicken feet (my boyfriend said NBC is better), preserved sausage bun (delicious sausage but lots of bun, nothing more special than other places) My favorites: shrimp dumplings, garlic spare rib, and fried taro gok were all delicious! Honestly everything came out piping hot but I often find these are cold or room temp at other places. They also had GREAT flavor! The egg tarts were also PERFECT! Super creamy, good amount of custard, and extremely flaky crust. We had some leftovers over between the two of us but really stuffed ourselves. Service was good, slightly slow but faster than cart restaurants and we weren't complaining. If you grab someone's attention they'll get to you faster and there's plenty of employees around. Total was about $45 without tip. Would come again!

Yelp
Favorites: - shu mai come 5 to a dish -sharks fin dumplings, don't sleep on these - lo Bo gao or pan fried radish cake- good crisp on it and good size cakes, aren't too dinky -mango pudding, perfectly satiating for my pregnancy sweet tooth these days Classics I always have to get - shrimp cheung fun- grateful they're not stingy with the sauce - deep fried taro - can take a while to make but it comes out piping hot -har gow: doesn't taste fake (my parents complaint about some places in Rowland heights) Love that service is fast and they turn tables over quickly. Came in a little after 12 on a Saturday and was nervous about the wait for a table of 2, but we got seated within 20 minutes. If two generations of Chinese folks approve I think we got a winner. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
We went for a Casual dinner. The restaurant seems quite authentic with plenty of customers. It was pretty crowded, but it was a Friday night on Chinese New Year. We arrived at around 7pm and wait time was 20 minutes. We tried the Seafood with Tofu Soup, the Braised Duck with Tofu, and the Baby Bok Choy with King Oyster Mushrooms. All the items had a distinguished taste. A big bonus is that you get a complimentary Tapioca Herb dessert.

Yelp
I loved the dim sum here. If you are searching for quality, cheap dim sum then look no further. My girlfriend and I came on a Saturday around 1 pm and it was busy but there was no wait for us to be seated. The restaurant has only indoor seating and the environment seems very cas Once seated they provide you with their menu and a pen, you simply write in the quantity of which dishes you want and... BAM! They come out steamy hot within minutes. My favorite dishes were the preserved sausage buns, shrimp dumplings, their egg custard tarts and chicken feet!! I think all plates were good and had great texture. The least flavorful dish in my opinion had to be the fried taro gok. Served and prepared well, it was definitely fun to eat, just not as savory as some of the other plates we ordered. The staff was very quick and efficient (they got people in and out quick), and we really enjoyed our dim sum fill! I think the food is a great value.
