With great reviews and a romantic atmosphere we were looking forward to a great experience, but the service was as bad as it could possibly have been and the crowd noise in the main dining room was so deafening that we could hardly hear each other talk despite sitting right next to each other.
The front room, where the bar is located Has a number of tables available for dining and had the subdued, romantic ambience we had sought, but the stern, grumpy and matronly host unsmilingly pointed to a two top in the main dining room and said "you two go sit there".
The waitress was nice, took our order, and that was the last that we saw of her or anyone else the entire night, except for the guy who brought out our wine and food. We were soon out of water and pretty thirsty, but no one ever stopped by our table and they were so busy and understaffed, that we were unable to flag anyone down for a needed refill. Not surprisingly, when we were done eating and ready for the bill there was no one available to request the check, except for the food, delivery guy, who had no idea what to do. I ended up walking around the restaurant and finally found someone who could give me the check. Honestly, I can't think of any place I've ever been where there was simply not no service at all. Wow.
On a brighter note, the menu is very interesting and varied, and we were looking forward to trying the Turkish version of short rib which was described as having sour plums and dried apricots. Surprisingly, the dish was served with the short ribs, some potato and a sauce, but contained no apricots or plums, which is the reason we had ordered the dish. Wow again.
We liked the eggplant roulade appetizer with walnut pesto and pomegranate reduction, and the vegetarian moussaka was also good.
Nevertheless, as you can, imagine, there is no way that we will be going back to this restaurant.
