Where to Eat and Drink on a Denver Rooftop | Eater Denver

"Sloan’s Lake spreads out in all its blue glory before the patrons lining the rooftop picnic tables at this outpost of Fort Collins’ famed Odell Brewing Co., where 16 taps are devoted primarily to experimental exclusives, from a hibiscus-lime sour to a stout infused with pistachios, green tea, and matcha. The full kitchen, meanwhile, specializes in pizzas like the Chile con Queso topped with mojo-marinated bison, mozz, cheddar, and green chiles." - Eater Staff

Loved the rooftop! The pizza was amazing and it was perfect to sit on the roof and watch the view. We also had the parmesean fries and they were delicious! I just got the plain pepperoni pizza and it was really good. Our party tried the Diavola and it was pretty spicy for them, I was glad I didn't get that 😅

Great location, great beer, and great pizza! You order at the bar and seat yourself in the spacious venue with views of Sloan's Lake. The Cloudhead Hazy IPA was pretty darn solid, and the pizza was absolute perfection with its fluffy, chewy crust. The cheese and pesto were magnificent. The wings were meaty, and the Buffalo sauce brought just the right amount of heat. Be sure to grab an extra glass of water for that spice! However, I’d recommend skipping the artichoke dip; it lacked the same flavorful vibe as the other dishes. Love the location next to the lake and parks. This is the ideal place to meet friends and family! There is something for everyone.

Had a wonderful Sunday dinner on the rooftop patio overlooking Sloan’s Lake. Their beer selection is great, I recommend getting a flight if you’re into variety. Pizza is wonderful too, had the Hilltop and it was perfection. They also have a really nice and spacious indoor space both downstairs and upstairs off the rooftop. Will for sure be stopping back in next time we walk Sloan’s Lake.

Fun place. I will be back to try more. We popped for a quick drink and a snack. They have a good choice of beer, and I tried a seltzer (ok). We paired it with chicken wings and parmesan fries - both good, not a crazy amount flavor, rather on a "safe" side. Still, I want to try their cauliflower pizza one day. The place itself is pretty big and very cool. We sat at the rooftop patio with a good view of Sloan Lake.

Google
Good location but food suck. Pizza uses semolina as a rescue to crisp kinder carriage, stale tomatoes sub standard dry buffalo chewy mozzarella that seemed gmo and Brussels sprouts that were straight up burnt not charred. Like bad bad lousy food in the kitchen. Brew was ok. Roof top location to the rescue but avoid.

Google
Fantastic space with ample parking and great views of Sloan’s Lake and Downtown Denver. If I lived closer, I’d be here all the time. Between the refurbed old building with amazing open space in the main hall and an indoor/outdoor roof, there are truly no bad seats in the house. Food is pretty good as well with solid smoked wings and above average pizza with great names and flavors like The Truffle Shuffle!

Google
Stopped by on our way from Aspen to Denver in the fall. It was perfect timing for their lunch special and we got a Margherita pizza. It paired perfectly with the beers. We were lucky and snagged a spot overlooking the lake.

Had a good time and enjoyed the nice lakeside, distant mountain views. Most servers helped me joyfully. :) however we did feel like we annoyed one of the cooks in our Bachelorette party attire as entering the establishment. Heard comment "oh, there's more of them....". Did not feel very welcoming and after all this is supposed to be an all inclusive place! Also I asked if they had 0% alcohol options. They said yes, I got a beer that was supposed to be 0.0%, but after going back and asking again they told me it is actually .5% alcohol- I wish they would have disclosed that because I asked for 0.0..

Yelp
I've been here twice in two days. The cream and olive oil based pizzas are the bread and butter of this food menu. Ugh like so good seriously. I enjoyed the Wink IPA a ton but this time I tried the Friek and it makes me feel frieky for sure. Go nuggets!

Yelp
Great spot for a beer. 3 levels gave us the option of indoors or outside on the deck. It started to rain when we were outside and we quickly found a table on the lower level without missing a beat. 90 schilling beer was delicious. Definitely a younger crowd here but we fit in just fine. Dog friendly and lots of folks trying out there pizza which looked delicious.

Yelp
Fun Oktoberfest! Had a wonderful first time here this past August for their Oktoberfest. They had two floors of festivities and several contests! First off, they had great cool mugs! Then, the German beers were flowing upstairs to n their beautiful patio overlooking the city. Staff was very nice! I loved the contests like stein holding and the costume contest. They gave tons of prizes and everything was quite affordable! I'll definitely be back for this event to kick off Oktoberfest season next year!

Yelp
We love this place and our dogs love it even more. Fantastic beer and great food as well. They are super accommodating throughout the day. We have been multiple times and we love the stuff as a whole. Everyone has been great and the atmosphere even better. We will come back as often as we can!

Yelp
What a great find! We popped out for lunch on a beautiful day and this was our destination. During the week, during the day it is quiet, but I would wager it is packed to capacity on the weekends. We found a spot in their parking lot. If it is full, there is street parking in the area. At the time of our visit, I was recouping from an injury and appreciated the ramp that was available to get to the door. We ordered a couple small pizzas and a flight. All the beers were solid. The pizza was delicious! We had sausage and green chilis on one and chicken and pineapple on the other. Great combinations. This will definitely warrant a return trip.

Yelp
My favorite beer of all time! With flavors of açai, guava, and elderberry, and balanced with a delicate addition of Himalayan pink sea salt. This drink is so refreshing and light. If you so happen to be in Colorado and see it on tap, highly highly recommend.

Yelp
Conveniently located nearby Sloan's Lake so it's the perfect place to have a beer if you're visiting and walking around the lake. It started raining on us so we ran over to grab a beer. Lots of seating inside and some tables even have a view of the lake. I ordered a stout and it was delicious! Great spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious pizza and perfect patio for good weather! Definitely recommend the brussel sprouts - they are spicy and some of the best I've ever had! The hilltop pizza with sausage had great flavor and was perfectly crispy

Yelp
I have had Odell Brewing plenty of times from their Fort Collins location. I haven't been to the Sloan Lake location until recently and it was nice to revisit some of their old beers again after quite a few years has passed and many beers later. Their IPA is one of my favorite beers of theirs and it still holds up as being impressive after all these years. The hoppy, floral and sweet flavor features are always enjoyable to encounter and the light bodied and smooth aspects to the beer are great to experience as well. Definitely a fine and fond revisit to a beer brand and a beer I had often!

Yelp
It's a standard Colorado brewery, nothing stood out to me in particular that would make this spot much different than others. However, it's in a great location, wasn't hard to find parking. They have a rooftop patio that overlooks Sloan's Lake. Great selection of beers, delicious pizza! Staff was friendly. Restrooms were clean. It wasn't busy for being a weekend/Sunday. Will be back for more Sippin' Pretty :)

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch during a walk around Sloans Lake. It was a great option as we had 2 kids and a dog with us. The patio is dog friendly. You can't take dogs inside so you access the patio via the stairs on the northwest side of the building. The patio has a ton of seating and a great view of the lake. We were a little unsure of how the service on the patio works, so we ordered up at the bar. The staff was really nice and brought fresh water and a treat for my dog. We ordered 2 beers (peach stand rambler), a cheese pizza for the kids and my friend and I shared a pizza (sausage and olive) and the chicken chopped salad. The pizza is really tasty and the kids pizza was just as good as ours. The pizza is also a really good size for the price. The salad was good, but I thought a little small for $14. Despite our beers being the same they did not taste the same. We will be back again on another sunny day!

Yelp
Pizza was great and took a couple to go. Kids loved it and we were able to get a big round table immediately. Lots of seating there. Order from the bar. Will def be back.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now. The beer and pizza are really good. I can never remember what things are called, but I've had a different seasonal brew each time. We stopped after doing the heart walk. It was Drag Brunch. It was an awesome surprise to catch the show, and it was so fun and top-notch. Also found a little baby troll, lil Ricky, he was worth a free beer. Wonder what we will catch next time.
google avatar

Yelp
A Welcoming and fun atmosphere! Here for drag bingo ! Just ordered drinks and pizza so far! Service so far is excellent!

Yelp
A great place to go to! I take my friends here often whenever they come to town because I live nearby. They have a great happy hour and the food is really good. Check it out!

Yelp
Texan here! So my food rating might be a little harsh. Good place for a first date though! The pizza was, overpriced. When received, the pizza felt small in portion, however upon first bite... we knew we didn't want more of it, which was sad to say! Among the food we tried around Denver, it barely even satisfied the craving for pizza. I wont comment on the beer... if you're a beer snob this is likely not the place for you. The place it self was very cute though! We loved the rooftop, we went on a Sunday night around sunset and it was stunning. The noise level was pretty low and the staff was kind. I think its a great first date place for the vibes! Even if the date goes wrong, you can discuss whether or not you liked the food.

Yelp
Just got into town and decided to stop in for lunch! We enjoyed "the classic". The Classic is a traditional pepperoni pizza. Not just regular pepperoni either, cupped pepperoni! I loved that touch! The pizza crust both perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. The crust had a good flavor, the cheese was fresh and natural tasting. The cupped pepperoni was a little greasy but good. I sampled 5 beers from the fantastic bartender: sippin pretty(good taste), peach stand rambler(yum), funky vanilla selter (yuck), all pride (sour end), cosmic train sour (yuck). I enjoyed the peach rambler best and had 2! My husband stuck with the Perry St. Pilsner. The service was awesome. We didn't even have to tell the bar guy what we ordered, he remembered when we come back to the bar!

Yelp
Experimental brewery that just brews trendy but not really good beer. They were actually really good when they first opened but the food went downhill and they basically have 14 hazy ipas on tap. Shame on you, Doug. My last ever time there the fire alarm went off while I was trying to soothe a tired infant. We were just feet from the alarm and I swear to God it ruined my hearing. We walked away from the food and beer, and in the chaos of a crying baby and a 103 degree F parking lot, decided to go home. I called the bar and the manager said we needed to close out our tab and pay for the food and drink we didn't get to finish. Shame. Shame. Shame. Oh yeah and they call chopped arugula "microgreens" and one time there was a hair in my pizza. Honestly not sure why I gave them so many chances .

Yelp
Crystal and I came here and had pizza and drinks and also went to drag bingo here and we had a lot of fun. The pizza was delicious and had a nice amount of toppings and good flavor and a nice thin crust. Im not a typical beer drinker and neither is Crystal but they had some things for us like ciders sours and some wine slushies that were great. The service was fantastic with really kind and hard working staff. And the venue itself is really cool and we plan on coming back again soon.

Yelp
Great views of Sloan Lake on the rooftop. Plenty of seating inside as well. We had to move inside due to rain. Good beers and if you select the right ones they are $5 during happy hour. Mushroom pizza was fantastic. I forgot to take a pic. Kids pizza was also good $8. Garlic parm fries were cooked like Belgian style - so crunchy. Chicken chopped salad was forgettable - would be better with ranch. Staff were friendly.

Yelp
Cool, clean, modern hangout spot in Sloan's Lake that's broken down into two buildings. Small parking lot and residential street parking can be limited at peak times, make sure to check the signage. The front building is more of a restaurant with TV's for sporting events and the back building is more of a tap house, though I think you can order food at both. I played Volo cornhole here during the cold months, even though space to play is kinda cramped. Make sure to check if they have a discount or special because the staff may not automatically dish it out. Otherwise prices are pretty standard. I pretty much only drink sour beers these days, and it's great that they always have a handful of choices on tap at all times. I like the classic Sippin' Pretty, which is a açai, guava, and elderberry sour with some pink sea salt for color. It's tart but rather balanced. Always found the staff to be cool and helpful, like when I can't decide on a beer, or when I forget my wallet on the bar top and they get it back to me - whoops!

Yelp
Stopped by while we were in the neighborhood for another event. It was a lovely sunny day. We had a nice cold pint. Odell is one of our favorite Colorado breweries. The beer was cold and delicious! The view was lovely. The rooftop patio has tons of seating and his misters for those hot, sunny Colorado days!
google avatar

Tiana M.

Yelp
I loved it here! Service was great and sitting up on the patio on a warm day was perfect. The fries had a lottttttt of garlic but I liked it. And the pizza was perfect. The sour was sour. Solid place
google avatar

Danielle H.

Yelp
Finally stopped in after walking by so many times and I am happy to say it did not disappoint! I walk around Sloan Lake weekly and always walk past Odell. This past weekend I finally decided to come inside. It is massive! They have plenty of seating on the first floor and also on the rooftop deck which overlooks the lake. Plenty of TV's all around so you can watch the game. They do have an elevator up to the top floor. ADA Accessible! You order at the counter, and they will find you. The atmosphere inside is so relaxed, we felt comfortable coming in wearing our workout clothing. Seems like more of a casual clothing type of place. Now the food was the real deal. We got a salad and a pizza which was perfect for two very hungry people. It truly hit the spot! I highly recommend and I cannot wait to come back. This is a great hidden gem around sloan lake. Overall 5/5 experience!

Yelp
I was in town with some girlfriends and happened to be across the street at the park when we decided it was time to make a pitstop. Low and behold Odell Brewing was right in front of us and we noticed they had a rooftop patio. We were sold. When we first walked in, the place downstairs was completely empty. No surprise given how beautiful it was outside. Didn't even get a welcome from the staff. After figuring out how to get upstairs we headed to the bar to grab drinks. They have an indoor section and then a large outside area. It had shade which was lovely, and misters too. The view overlooked the park which was a great backdrop. I got their house made seltzer, which in my opinion tasted just like a beer. I get that they're a brewery but the sign said seltzer. I just didn't know what I was getting and I wasn't a fan. The food on the other hand was outstanding. I got a caesar salad and shared some appetizers with my friends. My salad was absolutely delicious. I wasn't expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised. I cleaned my plate. I snacked on some fries too and they were a good as well. Overall, they've got something great going on. While I'm not a beer drinker, I'd come back for the food and rooftop. The vibes were great.

Yelp
Came for dinner with a few friends the other night. I had the hazy ipa which was decent. And we had a margarita pizza & the Diavola. Both were good and we ended up having leftovers. The diavola is pretty spicy which is expected based off the description but just in case any one is wondering. Service was pretty quick. We sat inside but there is a nice upstairs patio as well. They have some games and stuff inside if you want to do that. Overall a good experience and right next to sloans lake.

Yelp
Yum! Pizza galore here for a very hungry group of 6. We started off with some great appetizers. The smoked trout dip was my absolute favorite. I had high expectations for it after reading some of the reviews and it exceeded it! I couldn't stop eating it and would gladly eat a giant tub of it (with chips of course). The pretzel was quite tasty as well and not overly salty like some other pretzels and the texture was very fresh. The cheese sauce that came with it was very light and meshed perfectly with the fluffy pretzel. The wedges were good but not as memorable as the other appetizers. Now I will talk about each pizza we got. You've been warned- my fiancé tried a bite of this and for a guy who has a crazy high tolerance for spicy stuff, even he was struggling a bit with how spicy it is! I didn't dare try it but sounds like you get your money's worth if you want your taste buds to burn off. Wild West: possibly my favorite one!! It may seem simple but the combination of all the ingredients was super tasty I ate it so quick. Praying that no one ate that last slice that's sitting in the fridge right now. Sky pilot: this one was fun. I've never had lamb sausage before and lamb is one of my favorite meat. This was a fun one. The cure: the prosciutto was crisp! This one seemed to be a favorite with the table and I can see why. I'm usually meh with asparagus but it was a yummy solid ingredient on this pizza. Fun times!

Yelp
What a beautiful view of Sloans lake! The beer is good too. The pizza is delicious too! Went here for colorado pint day. Beautiful weather!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to hang out with great beers! All the people that work there are cool and knowledgeable. The only drawback is the surrounding area: THERE IS NO PARKING ON A BUSY DAY!!! It took me 15 minutes of driving around waiting for something to open!
google avatar

Yelp

Yelp
Tried the Lagerado and the flagship 90 Shilling. The rooftop patio overlooking Sloan's Lake is nice.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Their Hasy IPA is the clincher. This location brews unique recipes you don't find in the stores. It's a counter service bar with ample seating and an open atmosphere. Wings were good, side sauces cost extra. The fries hit the spot, crisp and fresh from the fryer. Didn't get the pizza, but looking at other people's orders it's looked like a great hand tossed crust. With the lake across the street you can even sober up with a nice walk after a few brews.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful rooftop spot overlooking Sloan's Lake Park and downtown Denver! We stopped by to try some of their craft IPAs and had a great time up on the rooftop. The communal-style seating really promoted an atmosphere of socializing with other patrons. We made friends with a married couple that are new to the area and enjoyed chatting about our mutual passion for craft beer and Colorado hiking spots. Of all the beers we tried our favorite was their rotating Hazy IPA release. I also tried their watermelon-mint sour and found it to be a bit mint heavy but was the perfect sour ratio. Service was also prompt and knowledgeable on the brewery's offerings. Odell is a great spot to enjoy solid craft brews whilst overlooking the lake with friende and locals from the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Odell Brewing was always one of my favorite breweries during my time living in Denver. They still do not distribute anywhere near my home in Ohio. When visiting Colorado now, one of the first things I typically do is find an Odell beer on draft somewhere. On our latest trip to Denver, we decided to check out their Sloan's Lake Brewhouse. This is a very casual spot with a great location with views of Sloan's Lake. Orders are placed at the bar. There is a great variety of beers including beers that are made in-house on their 10-barrel pilot brewhouse. I always start with their flagship IPA and go from there. My family and I split some food, starting with the chicken chopped salad. This featured Altius Farm's greens, oven-roasted chicken, bacon, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and asiago cheese topped with honey mustard vinaigrette ($11). This was a pretty big salad, easily enough to share with a pizza. The dressing was really excellent! We also had the Margherita pizza ($16) and a kids cheese pizza ($8). The crust was pretty thin, but still managed to be chewy with a light char to it. The toppings were fresh and overall we enjoyed the pizza. Odell has awesome beer and the food at their Sloan's Lake Brewhouse was pretty solid. Easily worth a visit and I will return on a future trip to Denver.

Yelp
Parking was a little challenging even at 5. Great spot for meeting friends. Didn't have food but the seltzer was up there as one of the best!
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Here's the rundown: Near the lake. Solid mix of brews. I really enjoyed their IPAs. Great bar food. They make good wings and pizza. Rooftop Patio is a plus and service is excellent.
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
This place seems to have it all. Great beers, tasty food and many choices in dining/drinking. The rooftop open air seating seems to be the main draw. Beautiful views of the lake. Order from the bar. Food orders are given a number and they deliver your food and additional beer rounds to your table. Inside seating is comfortably air-conditioned for hot days. There is a light gnome theme going on and they do have interesting limited edition beers, too.

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Visiting Denver from Chicago to see my man INZO headline Red Rocks and I must say, the Bison Meatball Sub Pizza absolutely f*cks. Hit it with the chipotle ranch, as suggested by bro at the register, and lemmie tell ya.. Lou Malnati ain't got shit on Odell Brewing.

John T.

Yelp
Best Buffalo Wings in Denver Seriously!!!! Spicy, Seasoned just Right, Good Size, Love These!!!!
google avatar

Jackie W.

Yelp
Pizza took a long time to arrive. The beers were great. Since the brewery is connected to an apartment complex, anytime the fire alarm is set, everyone at the brewery has to evacuate as well. If you come back after the firm alarm stops, they'll give you a free beer. Also, if the alarm goes off, you have to abandon your beer, and they'll get you a new one when you return. The top floor of the brewery is awesome. There's mist to keep you cool in the outdoor space. The indoor section of the top floor has 3 TVs, so it was a great place to watch the USWNT soccer game if you waited around long enough to get the best booths/tables.

Yelp
Had a great time drinking and eating at Odell's. Their beers were very tasty, and I thoroughly enjoyed their Truffle Shuffle pizza. Definitely want to return to try more from their menu.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Love this Odell location! Right next to Sloan's Lake with great views of the lake from the top deck + a super modern, beautiful interior, this is one cool Odell! When my husband stopped in for drinks on a Friday night around 6:00, it was very busy, no seats available. It's first-come, first-served seating, so we had to stand around waiting for a table to open up for about 10 minutes - no biggie & def not the brewery's fault. For drinks, I got the coffee pale ale & my husband got the Black IPA. I love that they offer 20 oz pours! Both beers were delicious. They also have a food menu - mostly pizza & apps - which looked and smelled amazing! Hoping to come back for more good beer + to try their food!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Unique beers and delicious pizza in a historic building across from Sloan's lake. This was our 3rd or 4th time in, but I'm finally getting around to Yelping it. We sat inside since it was a bit cool and breezy and it was a great experience. The truffle pizza was so good! It went perfectly with the West coast IPA I had. The beer was so good I picked up a crowler on the way out. They had a good variety of beer choices ranging from sours to IPA's to stouts. All around good stuff. The rooftop is definitely a main attraction on nice days. In my experience, there can be a long wait if it's a warm, sunny day - best view this side of town though!
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
This place is all about rooftop vibes. They have a nice indoor dining room too, but with views of Sloans Lake, heaters above you, and ample seating, the roof is where it's at. We stopped by for a late afternoon brew, and tried the seasonal porter and stout. Both were roasty and comforting on a chilly fall day! Perfection. We didn't try the food, but I'd love to come back for the pizza!
google avatar

Raúl R.

Yelp
This place was pretty cool. Great service and people there are friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my late dinner there. The beer was cold and tasty. I had a pizza and it was delicious. The crust tells you a lot about a pizza and this pizza spoke to me. I would definitely come back if come back to Denver.

Yelp
Let me start by saying- I love love LOVE Odell Brewing. I have been drinking their beers for many years, and it's just so amazing being able to visit their locations now that I am living in Colorado. The Sloan's Lake location is gorgeous, beers and food are on point as well!! Rooftop views too you cannot beat it, the whole place is a MF vibe. My mouth is watering just thinking of going back to visit..

Yelp
They changed their pretzel bites and they are SO much better!! As always, I love this place. Amazing beer, good staff, fun ambiance.

Yelp
Great concept in a cool neighborhood. Rooftop patio, chill restaurant scene downstairs and super nice staff make this a wonderful addition to the brewery tour and a definite date night spot.

Yelp
Cool old building architecture with a rooftop that makes them noteable (and way too busy to get into). We settled for their main indoor area and the pizza and beer didn't disappoint. Chives were accidentally added to one of our pizzas that wasn't requested but they admitted it and offered to refire another pizza for free. Only weird thing was the first pizza had normal grease level and the 2nd one was drowning in grease. We are those people who blot their pizza but this was needed. Taste was there though, great crust and unique pizza combos. Pretzel appetizer appears to have changed from prior pictures. It was a bit steep for the size of it, but still yummy none the less.
