Odette's

"This long-standing local favourite feels like more than just a neighbourhood restaurant; it’s a warm, inviting place that’s still many people’s go-to for a special occasion. The owner is passionate about his Welsh roots, while the reliably satisfying dishes focus on quality ingredients in classic combinations. A great range of menus mean you can indulge with the tasting menu, enjoy great value at lunch and early evening, tuck into a roast on Sundays or go vegan for the night." - Michelin Inspector

13 Quiet Patios Because This Is All Still A Bit Much - London - The Infatuation

"If the Primrose Hill set makes you think of unruly 90s British celebrities lavishly consuming all in their path, then let us give a much more pleasant and reasonably priced alternative. Odette’s, which is a privately tutored hop and skip away from Primrose Hill, has a set lunch and early evening meal available for around £20. Ordering this and bagging a spot in their secret garden is an extremely tasteful move this summer." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak

Odette’s Review - Primrose Hill - London - The Infatuation

"Being past your prime gets a bad rap. Ask anyone who’s seen The Rolling Stones live recently. They'll tell you that there’s something quite endearing about what might at first glance resemble four dehydrated Top Gear audience members doing karaoke. Odette’s in Primrose Hill has got a touch of this about it. It’s a Bill Nighy character in restaurant form, serving up flair-ish dishes that have a touch of the razzle-dazzle about them, like a generously horseradish-topped salmon tartare, but that, ultimately, flatter to deceive. Nothing here is even close to bad, just things like a dry confit chicken leg with wild garlic sauce feel and taste par for the course. Nevertheless, Odette’s is perfectly pleasant for a reasonable set lunch under twenty quid. Sit inside if you want to feel like you’re eating with your parents, or out front if you want a twenty-year-old-Café-Rouge-terrace-begging-for-some-TLC vibe. Either way, it’s nice, but was probably nicer back in the day." - Jake Missing

Google
We had the best experience at Odette's. I chose the vegetarian tasting menu, and it was phenomenal. The atmosphere is super cozy and comfortable, and not snobby at all. The staff were very attentive and nice. This dinner alone was worth the trip from Atlanta to London. If I could give more than 5 stars, I certainly would.

Google
We had a great overall experience. They were accommodating to our tardiness which was very kind of them. Extremely attentive and polite staff. The food was great. I was a fan of the duck and the chocolate mousse. The ambience was excellent too; they have a different front and back area, but it’s not jarring and it can probably accommodate different moods. Overall great time. Would come back.

Google
Really good food and not snobby at all. The flavours and produce are fresh and so tasty. I loved the soda bread and cheese soufflé nibbles before the starter, and wish there was more of it. The desserts are great too, which restaurants usually don’t do a good job of. This is one of the few places where I have had a 3 course meal with an aperitif, a drink with the meal, drink at the end, and a tea/coffee, and felt that’s it’s all worth it! Best thing is that you don’t feel stuffed by the end, just perfectly satisfied.

We went on a bit of a food tour for my birthday, as we made the trip up to Odette's for lunch. This was a really stunning meal. We both noted that it was the bread which set the tone for the whole meal. A seriously tasty sourdough with salty butter that just melted in the mouth. From there, we a selection of dishes from the lunch menu. You can see from the photos we took that they were beautifully presented, and tasted superb. We were really blown away by the quality of the food. Not pictured was my absolute favourite dish - the Jaffa Cake dessert. Worth the trip on its own, really a show stopper! All the staff were lovely and helpful. Well worth a trip, we'll definitely be coming back again.

Google
A boutique French restaurant right at the heart of Primrose Hill. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food is amazing as you should expect but the wine is really well paired with the amazing food. Most of all, you get good non-pretentious service which seems to me to be a dying trade in this superficial world. So highly appreciate the solid and proper service from the restaurant. Food 9/10, service 9/10, ambience 8.5/10, value for money 9/10. A hidden gem and one which makes to the list of my favourite restaurants in London.

Google
Simply divine. The current 3 course lunch for £21 is truly a steal considering the quality you get. Every dish was amazing and the service, atmosphere and restaurant in general exceeded already high expectations. We will be back for dinner for sure.

Google
Odette’s was wonderful. Funny, i fee I should mention the complimentary bread. The butter really was outstanding. I had the beetroot for starters, which was very light but delicious. Pork loin for the entree with a side of potatoes. And for dessert, their take of the orange jaffe cake. Everything was very good. It’s definitely not cheap and the portions are small. But that’s what you’d expect for a place like this. The orange jaffe cake was outstanding. So good. The flavors in the entree was very good. Service is very good as well. It’s a small restaurant and small staff, but very attentive.

Google
A fantastic environment with better than average food. Tried the tasting menu with wine pairings, and found the dishes to be of very good execution, but not exciting. Top it off with the pairings being rather common selections and not really taking advantage of the more interesting wines available in London (they are up the road from bottle apostle - maybe have some features wines?). If you are looking for a really cute romantic place, this is 100% it. If you are looking for amazing and exciting food, I would look elsewhere.

Yelp
We went to Odette's in early July for lunch and really enjoyed the food . The service was excellent and we were happy with the three course meals and appetisers which were on the house. However the chairs (French) were quite uncomfortable specially for me but I bore it as it was for a short time. We usually go out for a nice meal once a week. My husband heard about our experience and so he wanted to treat us there for my daughter-in-law's birthday dinner yesterday. As it was hot my son had requested in his online booking if it was possible to seat us in a cool place due to my high blood pressure. Unfortunately they gave us the same table and chairs, as the Air Conditioning was supposedly best there. Since we were there for a while all of us were feeling quite uncomfortable and my husband had to go and sit for a while in one of the comfortable seats in the same room. The appetisers they served were delicious. My starter was good but the children did not enjoy their cured trout. My husband did not order a starter and enjoyed the fish main he had ordered. The three of us had ordered lamb but all of us were served each with a small fatty lamb chop. We were really disappointed with our mains. The desserts were delicious and the service was very good. It is unfortunate that we are unlikely to go back there again. My friend and I had planned to go there for lunch next week but obviously it is now cancelled.

Yelp
Their set lunch is excellent value- £17.95 for a two course menu, which comes with an amuse bouche, petits fours and delicious artisan breads. I went for an early lunch this week with my mum (her treat) and had the seared halibut with puy lentils and pancetta to start, and the confit of duck as a main course. The halibut was beautiful and probably large enough to have had as a main dish and the duck was delicious- the meat was cooked to perfection with a light, crispy skin and a rich, fruity gravy. The food is delicious though I am always a bit put off by the restaurant's atmosphere. It is quite fussy and gaudy- the decor is very extravagant and grand, maybe even a bit naf. There is a cocktail/wine bar downstairs and the I feel it important to mention the toilets- they are great.

Yelp
Went to Odette's for a date night. We were definitely NOT alone in this as the tables around us were, for the most part, couples. We were sat in what appeared to be a small library room with shelving to one side. Such fabulous decoration and perfect lighting. Loved it. We were escorted to our table by a lovely and polite young man, and then a fabulous guy from Brazil took over our service. He was wonderful and so charming. I'd eat here just for that sort of service. We were given olives to start as well as some amazing soda bread. I really want the recipe for that soda bread! We then moved on to our starters. My husband had oxtail, which was lush, and I had the scorched salmon, which we declared the overall winner. Lightly seared with a gorgeous sauce on the side. I could eat that regularly. We then moved onto our mains of Welsh lamb and rabbit saddle. Looking at it, it didn't appear to be that much food, but it was so rich that it filled us right up. And that's the thing about the food here. You are not going to get huge portions but you won't care. This is quality over quantity with a side of fill me up. While the desserts sounded lovely, we decided to move on. I didn't want to taint our experience by getting over-full. I liked the fact that the wines are offered by the glass, by a carafe and by the bottle. There's enough of a choice of each to be happy but not too much to be confused. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion or date night. Definitely check it out!

Yelp
What do you do when your old colleague is visiting from sunny socal and has an expense account? ::quickly searches for Odette's number on ancient Nokia candy bar phone...conveniently and surprisingly equipped with wifi:: Reservations for 8:30p, CHECK. I'm just going to list the dishes we had because there's nothing else you really need. Oxtail lasagna, scallops and chicken wings, pan fried halibut with braised baby gems and carrot puree, pan fried turbot with braised oxtail and cockles, and cinnamon creme brulee with apple sorbet. Let's not forget that wafer-thin slice of amazing apple chip fantastically dividing that dessert for us to share. Also, as much of a Destiny's Child Independant whoa-man I am, I still love it when waiters put my coat on for me. Swoon over French waiters. GO.THERE.NOW. And all this plus a glass of wine each for £90 is pretty spiritual for me.

Yelp
A nice room, but we should have left when the manager refused to turn down the (bad) dance music he was playing. Amuse-bouche and starters were fine, but £18 for a tiny square of polenta as a main course was insulting, and the rabbit was a small handful of meat, indifferently cooked - too little for a starter and a joke as a £20 main. We left so hungry we had to go to a second restaurant. This place clearly thinks it should have a Michelin star. I felt robbed.

Yelp
Perfect place for couples or date. We went there on saturday night was busy but ambient enough to enjoy your company in nicely lit basement seatings. Taster menu highly recommended. Service was excellent too. Located in quiet neighbourhood. After meal you can head down to local pubs and bars (many options for drinks). These guys exacly know what thye do so, TIN (try it now) :)

Yelp
Ricky Gervais was eating here at the same time as us last Saturday. I'll leave it to Qypers to decide whether this is a good sign or not! Anyway, we'd booked a table for 2 on our way back to Wales from London. Turning up 15 minutes early was not a problem and our luggage was taken to the office for safekeeping. The service was, on the whole, unobtrusive and efficient. Odette's is smaller than I'd imagined - high-ceilinged and a little bit dark and romantic but with space on the pavement outside for diners too. We both had the starter and main from the set lunch menu (£20 for 2 courses) - cured salmon with radish, ginger and creamy wasabi to start, then confit mutton with black olive gnocchi, aubergine purée and a small panful of gravy. Presentation was second to none, though the salmon was a little on the bland side and the portion sizes were wildly different (my partner got the short straw). I then had tiramisu with blood orange and toasted marshmallow. I was a bit disappointed that the tiramisu I'd had at Jamie's Italian the previous week was much better! The orange and marshmallow added nothing to the dish. He had pistachio and apple cake. We had a lovely bottle of Argentinian sauvignon blanc and the bill, inc. service, came to £91. So overall, really worth a visit but if it's a Michelin star Bryn is after, I think the food needs to pack a bit more of a punch (admittedly, I only tried the set menu but the point still stands). Otherwise great.

Yelp
Just great food and lovely ambience. Perfect for couples or celebrating. the location means you stay clear of all the suits trying to impress their business colleagues. Bryn Williams really knows his stuff. Food is complex but not pretentious. The emphasis is on taste. Really great vegetarian tasting menu, they have actually made an effort instead of just doing a lazy risotto.

Yelp
Upon arrival, my spouse and I informed the host that we would like to wait for a table outside. There was a couple clearly towards the end of their meal so it would be about a twenty minute wait. I told the host we would sit across the way at a tea shop outside, waiting for the space to open up. We asked if he could inform us when the table was open/ready. We were a mere 10 meters away and he had full visibility of our table. Amdist the tea, we saw another couple seated at the table we were promised. We returned to confront the host. He floundered and spewed incomprehensible rationale for why he did not let us know the table was ready. Completely unacceptable. If the accountability is this bad in the host/waiters, I can't imagine how it is in the kitchen.

Yelp
We went to Odette's as part of our monthly supper club and everyone loved it. It's perfectly attuned with the Primrose Hill neighborhood. Upon walking in, the interiors are just fabulous -- Black & white dramatic print wallpaper that is punctuated with bright yellow chairs. The restaurant placed us in our own room and was very attentive. The food was very tasty - I enjoyed the turbot and braised ox tail. I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
We booked the Valentine's £150 sharing "experience". I can't fault the ambiance, it's quite an intimate, dimly-lit, quite romantic place, my wife felt happy with the choice. The food was somewhat minimalist, but with some subtle flavours coming through in the truffled beef, we couldn't really fault the food apart from the size of the portions, and the chef had shown some imagination throughout. Our major disappointment was the attitude of the restaurant manager. We had some gripes about what we had been "sold" over the phone when booking this "deal" (it's not the price, just the principle), one issue being due to my "misunderstanding" according to the manager - and no attempt at giving us the benefit of the doubt. The other isssue (having "sold" us a private reserved booth to clinch the reservation, which we mentioned to waiters at the beginning), he shrugged his shoulders at and said "I'm sorry". Again, no gesture, no sincerity - by that time, we had paid the bill... Once he had escorted us to the door, he seemed to spit (or mimick spitting) on the floor in our direction as we walked away. As I took him up on this, he rapidly closed the door in our faces, and repeated the same gesture. I'm not sure if the chef (Bryn Williams) is aware of the attitude of this guy, but he is undoing a lot of the culinary and marketing efforts his employer is going to. I really would not recommend Odettes to anyone while this utterly disrespectful individual is on duty. By the way - I have never posted an online complaint about a restaurant in over 20 years of eating out.

Yelp
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. We chose to have the set lunch menu a few weeks ago, and it was absolutely delicious. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Love the newly renovated garden space, perfect for a private function. Now owned by Welsh chef Bryn Williams, he prides himself on using Welsh produce and local. If you've never been, do yourself a favour & treat yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Godd restaurant on Regents Park Road. The service, the food (european), the wine and the decor is all really good! The portions can be quite small and some of the things are a bit overpriced. They do great desserts and cheese platters. Very romantic. Book ahead.

Yelp
FAB place for a girls lunch. We've been there twice and just love the banquette at the back, although bring your sunglasses in the summer. The jelly and ice cream is just to die for!

Qype User (goochi…)

Yelp
One of my local restaurants, not cheap but superb food. Some people say the portions are too small, but the perfect amount for me to able to have 3 courses. Set menu, bar downstairs which serves, light lunch/tapas. Great in the summer for people-watching if you bag a table outside for lunch.

Yelp
Just back from a great night @ Odettes; food was superb, beautifully presented and altogether delicious..... Now the downside.... 10 mins wait for our first drink not good! Service in general average at best- I don't want fawning or smarmy, I just want somebody to acknowledge my existence!! Please get some decent waiters, your food is great!

Qype User (Moody…)

Yelp
Went for a 2 course meal in Odette last Friday and left feeling robbed. Whilst the starter (the langoustines) was very fine and well presented, the turbot (supposedly, the Queen's favourite - don't go for it!) was an utter disappointment. The service was contrived and attending staff was polite but very impersonal with us. We went for Chablis as our accompanying wine. It was poor considering its price (£23 for half a bottle) and not chilled when we first tried it. All in all, will probably not go again, considering the astronomical bill we got for not a great overall experience.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Odette's by pure luck today, and had a wonderful outdoors dinner in this beautiful restaurant in the lovely setting of Regent's Park road in the Primrose Hill area. Given it was 6.30PM we could order the "lunch or early dinner" set menu which, at £12 for two courses or £16 for three offers incredibly good value. I had a wonderful oxtail terrine, followed by the most perfect pork belly I've ever had and a tasty ending with blue cheese, poached pears celery and walnut. In the meanwhile my friend had a delicious sea bass with orange, beetroot and fennel and a very good ice cream and sorbetti selection. Fantastic mustard bread at the beginning, Kasteel beer (a treat from Alsace) and lukum-like complimentary sweets to finish the meal. Modern british food at its best, I'll be back even if the normal menu is relatively expensive: I'm sure it's with good reason. There is a tasting menu for £60 which our neighbours seemed to enjoy a lot.

Taylor B.

Yelp
I found Odette's to be pretty common (for the price). The food was average to good, but I thought the service as way below the bar. They were quite slow and inattentive.

Qype User (george…)

Yelp
This is a star of a place. Chef Bryn Williams is knocking out truly wonderful food. His Welsh lamb dishes are a must try. Plenty of very good fish dishes too. Presentation is pushing for a Michelin star. Menu can be pricey, though an early evening set price is very reasonable. Service, brisk and courteous, if slightly cold. Booking is a definite for busier nights.
