Odin Review - Jack London - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"If you’ve ordered a mezcal margarita at any point in the last month, there’s a very good chance you’ll want to become a regular at Odin. The mezcalería has an impressive 300+ collection of agave spirits, plus excellent cocktails, mezcal flights, and Happy Hour with a mezcal special of the day. Odin is a rebrand of the Mexican restaurant Nido, and they're serving light, bright Mexican shareable plates, like queso fundido, quesadillas, and asada tacos. Odin’s interiors are dark, and dare we say sexy, with slate-colored walls, hand-shaped chairs, and long church pews. It’s exactly where we want to be sitting while we drink chilled coupes filled with tequila, chilis, and orange bitters. photo credit: Odin" - Lani Conway

"This is the place to source an entire men's wardrobe: You'll find Simon Miller jeans, Alex Mill buttondowns, and Common Projects sneakers, along with dressier suiting from Comme des Garcons. The guys behind Odin are fashion arbiters of men's street style, which is why whenever we need to pick up a guy's gift, we head here first. There's also a location in both the West Village and the East Village. "

A jewel. You can check these guys out online, but it's really an experience store. I'd call it 'crafted curation.' Everything goes together, even though it's all different. Wonderfully presented.

Yelp
I received a Christmas gift from this store with gift receipt. I brought the item with receipt into the store today - January 8 - precisely 2 weeks after Christmas and the sales clerk refused to take the item back for exchange. To add insult to injury (literally), he kept on hemming and hawing about how he "tried to be lenient" but he "just could not" take it back since their return policy is 30 days and as I can see this item was purchased on November 30 (which he insisted was six weeks prior to today). Why repeatedly tell me that you had tried to be lenient, it was as if I had brought in something six months later or damaged or without receipt? If you are going to be a twit about store policy, even for gifts purchased at the biggest holiday season of the year, than it would be better and less insulting and infuriating to just say this is our policy, period. I will never go back to this store, which is too bad because when I looked up the hours on their website it looked like they had nice merchandise. But as another reviewer said, one can buy a lot of their merchandise at places with better staff (and, hopefully, store policies).

Yelp
Odin's definitely become one of my favorite clothing stores in the city. They offer stylish duds from the likes of Engineered Garments, Thom Browne, and Burkman, as well as their own label of quality items. They also carry shoes from Oliver Spencer and Bespoken. I noticed they have a large selection of fragrances and skin care products, but I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the display. In any case, I found a really cool pair of Oliver Spencer shoes that I absolutely loved. I know others have said service was below par, but I cannot complain at all about the service i received. The dude greeted me when I walked in and was super friendly and helpful overall. He knew the products very well, unlike at some of these other stores. Just by the designer labels, things are definitely on the higher end pricier side. I guess that I just feel fortunate that I don't have a place like Odin at my disposal in fashion deprived Milwaukee, otherwise I'd go bust.

Yelp
I had the worst retail experience I have ever had in this store. I was walking by and thought I had discovered this wonderful new find. I browsed around, no salespeople approached me, they we deep in conversation with each other. I walked up to the colognes and started smelling them. I came to the one called "Odin #7". I asked a salesperson how much it was. He replied,"It's $125.00 but it doesn't matter because we are out of stock. It was named cologne of the year and now everybody wants it". He rolled his eyes as he said that. Then he said that he had no idea when they might get more but I could try other locations of the store. I thanked him and left. I decided to see if I could find the cologne online. I found it at Odinnyc.com. I ordered it. My credit card was charged. The date was 1/29/13. I didn't get a shipping email and after a few days I emailed them to find out the status of the order. The confirmation email I originally got said that they "try" to answer questions in 24 to 48 hours. No one answered so I called the customer service number. The person I spoke to said that she didn't have access to order information but I could call another # and speak to someone else. Well I have been calling that number for days and don't get any answer. So I have sent off another email and am waiting for an answer. The cologne smells great and I am looking forward to finally getting it but I would never, ever, ever deal with them again. The customer service stinks. I am in retail as well and know that any store can have an off day so I write this harsh review after giving it much thought. I don't think they were having an off day I think they just have the worst customer service ever and think they can get away with it because they have some great products.

Yelp
The concept is fine, but each time I walk in, the blank-eyed mannequins who work there are either in deep conversation with each other, or on the phone. When the guy working called the other store to see if they had a jacket in my size (I asked -- you always have to ask) he ended up getting so distracted by a conversation with the other store's clerk I got irritated and just left. The clothes look fine on these guys, but they're dimwits -- hire real sales staff! Rag & Bone, Jack Spade and Freeman's shop are all within a block or to -- go directly to the source and those places instead. This place (which frequently does run low on stock) will drive you bonkers.

Yelp
The best sales staff in New York. I was ordering a gift card for a friend and didn't have time to go pick it up. The sales associate who helped me over the phone was so sweet and actually delivered it to my offices. With a sales staff so willing to go above and beyond I definitely recommend this store to all my guy friends now. I hear they have a womens store too...

Yelp
I love this store. Of all the Odin locations here in the city, I prefer the West Village location most. Quieter, more intimate and in my favorite neighborhood in Manhattan. And it doesn't hurt that it's right across from the Spotted Pig (and with wait times usually pushing 2 hours for a table, I can easily wander in to Odin and more often than not, I end up leaving with something in hand!) I've been stopping by the West Village location now since it opened just over a year ago. The merchandise is always well curated and displayed tastefully. Great brands are always stocked here, among my favorites are Our Legacy and a small, but nice selection of 3.1 Philip Lim. The current sales staff is more than helpful (easy on the eyes, too!). There have been several occasions when a size or style is no longer in stock and they've had it held for me at one of their two other locations and there have even been a handful of times that they've had the clothing brought over here for me. That's what I call good service! Always recommended.
