The food was quite good! I pass this restaurant a lot when I go hiking. I heard they offer vegan food so I decided to try it out. There's just a few menu choices that are vegan, which is not unusual for Virginia. I chose the Mediterranean plate. When it was ready they mistakenly brought it to me in a to go box! They quickly took it back to the kitchen and righted the wrong. The dish was really good, I cleaned my plate. It was fresh and delicious.

Google
This place has fresh foods, made from scratch. The menu is regularly changed and has a real variety of dishes. I think it’s tourist friendly, I really enjoyed the cold salmon and herring selection, with picked vegetables, really reminded me of Scandinavia, it’s a great place to get something a little lighter while your out and about hiking.

Google
Great food and place. There’s outdoor seating as well. Thai curry my favorite there. Salmon/fish sandwich not what I expected, but overall food was good.

Finally stopped here on the way out of Shenandoah after passing it so many times, and what marked the occasion was needing to charge my car. I’m so glad I did - the food exceeded expectations and the outdoor seating by the creek is heavenly. Plus the EV charging was a great help in a pinch. Will definitely stop here again!

Google
After a nice hike in the Shenandoah, we found this place on Google and came down for a late brunch. The outdoor seating by the stream in the back was particularly lovely especially on a nice day. Regular coffee was nice but the decaf was a bit watery. Food was generally nice, Penang curry rice bowl was delicious, chicken wings were nice; the smoked salmon and fish was a bit salty. Staff was friendly and price is reasonable

Google
After spending the previous day in Luray looking for a good place to eat and not finding one, this place in Sperryville checked all the boxes - a great multicultural menu, loads of vegetarian options and chic ambiance. Ordered the Ramen, Panang Curry, and the Cauliflower crust pizza - all were gourmet and delish! Stop here before you head over the hill.

I have been coming here since they opened. I guess you could call me a foodie who is very particular about where my food comes from. Everything they sell is organic AND delicious. They check all the boxes for me. They have an extensive menu, plus specials, and prepared foods you can take home. They grow most of their ingredients, use local meats, and their eggs are from chickens they raise. The only problem is trying to decide what to have on the menu because everything is so good. Anita, the manager, is a gem. Go and sit by the beautiful river out back and enjoy.

Google
Stopped by this cute roadside restaurant after hiking at Mary’s Rock. Had hot apple cider and a bbq sandwich. Everything was tasty and the outdoor seating over looked a small creek. Was a nice end to a hiking trip.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, and a beautiful and convenient location! We go out of our way to make sure we swing by and visit our friends at OTG whenever we're in the general area. Food is fresh which means it's not always ready in a flash. A good sign of you ask me. We're thankful for this establishment and looking forward to continuing to visit it often.

Yelp
Conveniently located after leaving Shenandoah National Park. Good options, including coffee and tea, good food, and a cute shop with local food. Not a ton of choice, but I think that's okay. What they do, they do well. Their local eggs are delicious and I really liked their Classic breakfast sandwich.

Yelp
If you're near Shenandoah National Park, do stop by here! There's not many places around, but this spot has a little bit of everything. Some people stay here, eat at Off the Grid and be on their merry way. Bathrooms available. Food comes in in larger portions than anticipated. Wifi available. Good spot to take a break if you're craving something after a long hike.

Yelp
I got an iced mocha oatmilk latte and it was delicious! The vibe was super calm and cozy. I love the eco-friendliness!! My straw was made from straw! I'm an out of towner who visited for a Bach trip & hike up to Mary's Rock. But if I was local I'd be here everyday!

Yelp
This is a delightful place to stop off for a bite and glass of wine after hiking in the nearby National Park. Tons of great dishes including some (very good!) Asian ones such as a Thai curry and Banh Mi sandwich. The ingredients are all fresh, service is engaging and attentive, and there are a lot of cool niche products (nuts, ciders, chips) as well as nick knacks and even art and photography for sale. Picnic tables with outdoor dining next to a stream as well. Very relaxing lunch here. Two Thumbs Up!

Yelp
Understaffed on a Sunday so we had to wait 40 minutes for our food (& went in to check on it twice) but it wasn't busy. Other than that cute spot for after a long hike. I had the falafel sandwich which was good but needed more tahini. We ate out back by the creek which was nice. They have free Wi-Fi which was perfect to give us directions home. They had Tesla chargers! But not a super accessible space - gravel driveway & tight corners. Bathroom was big.

Yelp
No photographic evidence this time, but this is a very cute all-in-one-stop souvenir store, bakery, and deli. I grabbed an awesome bagel with salmon in the morning and a fancy sandwich for lunch, plus a cookie (PS - don't touch the cookies; let them grab it for you). This place seems a little boujee, but I guess local hikers prefer higher-end food. That's fine with me; this place is a great stop before or after a hike. They also have a nice sitting area outside near the brook.

Yelp
Off The Grid is located on U.S. 211 - a bit west of the main "downtown" of Sperryville. It sits right on the banks of the Thornton River as it comes gurgling out of Shenandoah National Park. Stopped in on a Sunday for Brunch. Was pleased to see they offer Lox & Bagel! So I ordered that! My friend ordered the same thing. They have an interesting, eclectic menu. The special of the day was Gumbo - and I was sorely tested - I wanted both the Gumbo and the Lox & Bagel. So next time, if it's available - it'll be Gumbo time! I also ordered water - they have water in a large dispenser that you can serve yourself - or if you want water to go - they sell water in these environmentally friendly plant-based containers - which is what I opted for. There are a few tables inside, we sat at one and devoured our Lox & Bagel. Very tasty! Ivan is the manager - if he is in - say hello to him! #OffTheGrid

Yelp
Everything I've ever had here has been delicious. Everything. The garden out back, where many of the foods used in the menu are grown, is beautiful and well-maintained and clearly much love is put into its maintenance. Gorgeous drive to get there, and the outdoor seating area next to a friendly little river is so picturesque. Service is friendly! Five stars all around.

Yelp
Looks like a run-of-the-mill roadside cafe on the outside, but the food is very good and the atmosphere is pleasant. Attention EV drivers! The cafe has 4, free L2 chargers! The J-1772 one pushes 11 kW, while 3 Tesla plugs are rated for 16 kW. Sorry, Nissan and Mitsubishi ppl., no Chademo :(

Yelp
We've eaten here with our kids while we stay in Sperryville a few times now. It's got very good food, with a great outdoor seating area, and a working farm that you can explore with your kids if you want to see bee hives, goats, chickens and other things. With any given piece, it might be hard to justify the 5-star rating, but all together it definitely takes it over the top. As far as the food goes, we've worked our way thought the Penang curry, bahn mi, fig and chicken sandwich, and the PB&J sandwich for the kids. The bahn mi and curry were both very good, which makes me think the Asian-inspired dishes may be the way to go in general. The pickled veggies and meat on bahn mi were both great. The only complaint is that there could maybe be more filling/toppings for the break. The curry was excellent both times I had it. The chicken in it was nothing to write home about, but the overall flavors with the rice work. The PB&J sandwiches are surprisingly good. They're served on thick-sliced, amazing bread and are good enough that I kind of looked forward to the kids not finishing them. Beyond the food, the outdoor seating sits on a gurgling stream with fantastic trees and relaxing views. Across the stream is a working farm with goats, chickens, greenhouses, gardens, bee hives, and a solar farm that's worth checking out. That means we could take our kids for stroll to see some animals and other things before and after the meal turning a meal into a reasonably good outing. Be sure to ask if they can help you turn off the electric fences around the chickens and goats if you want to pet them. Other than that, we'd probably skip the coffee unless you need the caffeine. The macchiato wasn't any better than you'd expect from an automatic espresso machine you could have at home.

Yelp
Very good breakfast stop! I got the OTG sandwich which was messy but tasty (if you get this, eat it there or at a table), ginger peach muffin that was okay but not a lot of flavor, and chai tea (good but not very spiced). My boyfriend really liked the breakfast sampler and said the pancakes were especially good and the Cubano coffee fueled him for drive home. Nice ambiance and service; liked how environmentally friendly they were with composting. Would stop there again if in the area.

Yelp
Omg. My friends and I came here after a hike and it was an amazing experience. The breakfasts and lunch are super good, they have an American eclectic menu as my friend described it which is nice since there's something for everyone. Very fresh food with moderate portions, and the interior is quite nice too. Honestly the restaurant is a bit small, think there are only about 7 tables inside and a couple outside, so come early if you want to sit in. Cute little store in the back and a bunch of freshly baked goods and snacks to choose from. Good coffee menu too.

Yelp
Outdoor seating along the river was a nice place to eat with the dogs. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. Got a little juice in the Tesla, too.

Yelp
Good food, relaxed pace, comfortable & casual. Minutes from Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park.

David D.

Yelp
Went out this morning on a cold rainy Sunday here for my third time. Even if we couldn't enjoy the outdoor seating with the stream nearby as we had before, we enjoyed our bunch very much. It was quiet and cozy inside today. Both breakfast entrees were delicious. I'm always so happy with the food I get here. It's such a peaceful area too. Can't wait to come back to try more on the menu!

Yelp
This was a great stop after our 9 mile hike at Old Rag Trail. The owner even let us get coffee a few minutes before they opened before our hike! The food was incredibly fresh, especially the eggs which come from their chickens in the back farm. The set up was very cute, and it was nice seeing the kitchen in front where you can see them cooking! Great service and I appreciate how environmentally friendly they are- they even used uncooked fettuccine noodles as a coffee stirrer instead of a plastic straw! Genius! Also free coffee refills! So be sure to try this place if you are near Shenandoah! :)

Yelp
Best breakfast in Sperryville. Be sure to try the Bahn Mi sandwich, which one of our party had, and loved. Eggs and pancakes are good. So are heuvos rancheros. Service is very prompt and friendly. Definitely go!

Yelp
On my way to Shenandoah I stopped here for lunch. I ordered the portobello Burger which was pretty large and fresh. The sauce on the bun was very tasty. The gentleman at the counter was very patient with me till I figured out what I wanted to order. The cafe is relaxing, the ambience is peaceful and there were several people working on the laptops. There is a Little shop in the back, I was able to buy a card and a few other things. I think it's a nice touch to have the little boutique in the back. I also saw that they had outdoor seating by the water. The environment was very relaxing. they had wifi, which was really nice since there was no AT&T service in Sperryville. Parking was available for a handful of cars up front.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped here after a day of hiking in Shenandoah Park. It's a quaint comfortable place with lovely people. All the food was delicious. We had the tater tots, toasted tomato soup, vegetarian chili, falafel, and pork bahn mi. The understated stature of the restaurant belies the exquisite, fresh dishes they serve.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Off the grid has a great back yard area with tables and benches. If the weather allows it, I definitely suggest sitting outside. The menu has great vegetarian options. My Ramen salad had a delicious sauce with a hint of spice. Great meal after a hike in Shenandoah

Yelp
Love this place! Fresh food, plenty of seating inside and outside. The smoked salmon bagel was exactly what I needed after a hike. There's a cute shop selling slightly overpriced stuff but cute nonetheless glad this place is here, so close to the hiking trails. Definitely check it out if you're nearby!

Yelp
The chai tea latte tasted overwhelmingly watery with an overpowering note of cinnamon, lacking the rich, balanced flavors I expected. Moreover, the chicken sandwich was disappointing as it barely contained any chicken, leaving it more like a bread sandwich than a fulfilling meal. Hope they improve these issues for future customers. The impossible burger had an oddly off-putting taste, deviating significantly from the promised flavor profile. Moreover, the cheese truffle tots, advertised as a delectable delight, were a letdown; the cheese tasted oddly reminiscent of leather, an unexpected and unpleasant experience that didn't align with the anticipated truffle-infused delight. I'm also convinced that the people leaving good reviews are friends and family or robots! Also the food was extremely over priced I could have gotten somthing from the gas station for cheaper and tasted better.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Exceptionally good bbq sandwiches today. This place does it right, I'm told if it isn't organic it doesn't come through the door, that means you! Just kidding.

Allison L.

Yelp
What a little oasis. The food was great and a very pleasant relaxed environment. Good for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores.

Yelp
Our favorite place in Rappahannock County!! Highly recommend. We try something new every visit and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is very down to earth, welcoming, cozy, & clean! The food is healthy and tastes extraordinarily good!
google avatar

Liza K.

Yelp
We stopped here to get a cup of hot apple cider after a hike and wished we had stopped sooner because all their food looked really good. The hot apple cider was really great! You can just get a cup to go! We also couldn't resist their sweet treats. I was looking for something classic and wasn't disappointed by their chocolate chip cookie. My friend got their pear muffin! It was SOO good! Highly recommend. We'll be back to try more items on their menu. Their soups and sandwiches looked tempting. Great service and everyone was wearing masks.
google avatar

Ashlyn N.

Yelp
This place is a gem. We found this on a whim on the way to go hiking. We are pescatarian and it's hard to find places with vegan/vegetarian options. We got the breakfast pizza with veggie sausage and a falafel sandwich. I'm sad we live 3 hours away because this would be a weekly spot for us. They also have a cute little shop inside. This is a must see!
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
I'm just really enjoying myself here which compelled me to create this review. I'm by myself ... here's a pic .
google avatar

Siena L.

Yelp
WOW this is my new favorite cafe - they have gluten-free bread and the food and drinks are amazing! I will definitely be back... A LOT.
google avatar

Ronak M.

Yelp
The food was ok and expensive for the price and the quantity was very small as you can see especially for the curry and rice. The outside done in area was cute. Perfect for date.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Couldn't decide between the trading post across the street and here. SO happy we chose this place instead. I ordered the rockstar wrap and my s.o. picked their banh mi sandwich. The food tasted amazing and fresh (from their own garden!). Unique menu, beautiful farm, cute animals. Loved the atmosphere. The owner (I think he was the owner) was nice and you could tell that he was extremely passionate about his farm. I will definitely visit here again when we're in the area. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Andi W.

Yelp
This spot was an excellent place for us to pick up lunch on our way to Shenandoah NP. We were blow away by the vegan selection. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Rockstar wrap. And if you're feeling fancy, add tofu! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Paige H.

Yelp
Really sad about this one. Was thrilled to see a vegan friendly spot near our favorite hiking spots. While I really appreciate the dairy free options offered at the beverage bar (both oat and almond milk), the fact that our food didn't match the menu description essentially ruined the effect. If the menu says tahini (a dairy free option), you will be served tzatziki (a yogurt-based sauce). This was not the only difference from what is on the menu to what you actually get (every topping aside from lettuce was not as described). People order things from the menu because it works for their needs and tastes--not because we want something else!
google avatar

Declan Z.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful location and the food is to die for! Anita was wonderful and recommended I try the curry with shrimp. Some of the best food I've ever eaten super fresh and healthy. The service was 10/10 and so was the food.
google avatar

Jzaleh A.

Yelp
Foood was ammmmaazing! I even did some off grid grocery shopping while there. Took a few frozen meals to go and enjoyed the outdoor creek and natural space outside while our order was being made. My new favorite spot! Definitely worth the drive just for the food alone!
google avatar

Bill C.

Yelp
Good chilli and quesadilla. Great stop on the way to or from BRP. Good prices. good service. Hippy vibe
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great place for breakfast in the Sperryville area, look no further than Off The Grid. Their breakfast sandwich was a work of art, and just as delicious. And their seating area by the creek behind the building is like a picture book.
google avatar

Helen G.

Yelp
Yikes - waited 30 minutes to get 2 cold breakfast sandwiches and pretty sure the egg was microwaved. Paid $30 and it went in trash. Went across the street to the Sperryville Trading Cafe for a 2nd chance at breakfast.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
This place is the best. Delicious, fast, friendly and accommodating of our huge hiking group. 10 stars.

Justin K.

Yelp
Delicious, well-crafted sandwiches. Had the tofu bahn mi and a Cubano. My wife had a bagel with smoked salmon and a cup of hot tea. It came out beautifully plated with lots of colorful pickled veg and fixins. Be sure to stop and support this great spot in Sperryville!Banh Mi Sandwich

Vasant J.

Yelp
A wonderful, cute spot to stop for sandwiches and drinks after a hike in Shenandoah. I enjoyed the fig chicken sandwich with a hot cider, and other people in my party really liked their bahn mis. They have picnic tables in the back overlooking a river -- great atmosphere!

Maria K.

Yelp
We stopped for coffee by the creek. Relaxing setting with craft beverages. See the photos that we are uploading.

Sally G.

Yelp
Waited 45 minutes for a coffee before giving up and requesting a refund. Then it took them 10 minutes to figure out how to give me a refund. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.

Tracy D.

Yelp
Great little place to stop after a hike. Coffee, desserts and plenty of vegan meal options. Will definitely be back!

Zeyar H.

Yelp
We love this place. Been here twice for lunch after hiking in Shenandoah and was not disappointed. View by the water while eating made the experience very relaxing. Came here both during late fall and early spring. Amazing food with amazing customer service!
google avatar

Gabe V.

Yelp
After seeing Skyline Drive, my girlfriend and I stopped by. Everyone was nice, it was empty and they had a nice table in the back to eat at next to a creek, which was nice. However, for a sandwich place, they told us they were out of bread, so their menu only had 2 salads and a chicken wrap. The chicken wrap was good, it needed some more dressing though, but they walked over to me and gave it when it was done which was appreciated. I'd come back again.
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
This place is so interesting! A very diverse menu (tofu banh mi sandwich, fried chicken, etc., including vegetarian options) in a beautiful setting with seats next to the river. Great coffee, too, and even Tesla chargers, powered by the bank of solar panels out back. A great spot to refuel after a day's hike or pootling around the area.
google avatar

Rebekah B.

Yelp
This is such a wonderful, local restaurant with the best food. It's close to the national park and a good spot during one's travels. Hang out outside in several different places next to the stream.
