Off The Hook - Review - Mystic - Mystic - The Infatuation

"When a seafood market opens a restaurant, you know the fish and shellfish are going to be quality. That is indeed true for Off The Hook, which is a counter-service spot in downtown Mystic from the J&R Seafood team. They have a pretty wide selection: fried halibut sandwiches with crispy lettuce and tangy tartar, poke bowls with ruby red tuna, and a flight of three small lobster rolls. It’s a gift for the indecisive lobster lover as you get one hot and buttery, one cold with chives and mayo, and even one that’s tempura style. Take it with you back to your boat, the park, or your back deck, and know that they deliver to the local day sail, the Agria. photo credit: Lisa Nichols photo credit: Lisa Nichols photo credit: Lisa Nichols photo credit: Lisa Nichols Pause Unmute" - Tanya Edwards

Off the Hook was absolutely delish. My lobster flight was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. A truly standout meal! My son was thrilled to have a Del’s lemonade. The staff was super friendly too. A perfect spot for fresh seafood and family-friendly fun in Mystic!

Superbly fresh seafood from local boats presented in both classic and creative ways. A divine lobster roll trio of classic butter, lemon aioli, and tempura with spicy mayo is the coastal flavor bomb of my dreams! Pure heaven! Sensational mini fritters are packed with fresh, large chunks of clam, scallop, or shrimp for a perfect walking snack. Beer battered cod fish and chips are cleverly cut into “finger” shapes to make outdoor dining easier and the hand cut fries are divine. I brought home a classic tuna poke bowl for dinner but shrimp or lobster salad poke bowls are all completely customizable. The smash burger with hand cut fries was messy but also delicious. Don't miss this mid-day stop as they are open 11am-6pm on the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets. Curb delivery and cute mercy too.

We had an order of two hot lobsters rolls, clam fritters and a bowl of NE clam chowder. The lobster rolls were packed with fresh lobster and the bread was super fresh and toasted with butter on both sides. The clam fritters were supposed to be loaded with clam bits but that was not the case. There were scant little pieces but they were few and far between. The NE Clam chowder was also supposed to be loaded with bits of clam and bacon but it was nothing more than potato chowder. The lobster rolls were amazing but I would not order the clam chowder or the fritters again.

We ordered their fried halibut (Nashville hot) sandwich, fried fish tacos, clam chowder, and a mixed order of the scallops and corn fritters/clam fritters. We would give the sandwich a 6/10 since it had a lot of breading on it which made it difficult to really taste the fish. The fried tacos were ok..but I felt like it needed some flavor seasoning (6/10). Some Sriracha aioli would have made it better rather than plain tartar sauce 👍 I'm sorry, but the clam chowder was absolutely terrible. It was so watery and had no flavor (0/10 would not recommend). It was not a chowder at all. The clam fritters were pretty plain, so we preferred the scallops and corn fritters since it had more flavor. If you're in the area and looking for a snack, we would recommend trying the scallops and corn fritters! Cashier was super friendly and nice 👍

Stopped in for a quick bite and we were not disappointed! I always try a lobster roll on all our trips if we’re on the coast and this one was sooooo good. We were also pleasantly surprised by how good the fries are—we got the malt vinegar aioli for dipping and it was delicious! They’ve only been open a few weeks but they’re killing it. Would love to try one of their poke bowls on our next visit, I bet they’re good too. The owner and his employees were super friendly and welcoming. We had a nice time and we were stuffed when we left! We’ll be back next year!

Off the Hook is hands down one of my favorite spots in Mystic! Their poke bowls are always fresh and flavorful with the highest quality seafood. My husband isn’t a seafood fan, but he loves their smash burger...it’s nice to have great non-seafood options too. The menu has something for everyone, and the customer service is consistently top notch. Allison (owner) goes above and beyond to make sure every customer has an excellent experience. The modern décor and the art wall of fishing boats add so much charm and make the space feel unique to Mystic. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood or something else, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!!! You won't be disappointed.

Great lunch at Off The Hook. Had the ‘Strami Sammy’ special of Pastrami Spiced Halibut, Green Caraway Coleslaw, housemade Russian Dressing & Swiss on marble Rye. Absolutely delicious. Chose the Nashville Hot Halibut Sammy as well. The hot honey glaze on the crispy fried fish….c’mon!! Combined with the pimento cheese & pickles, this thing slaps 😂. We decided to be gluttonous and try the fries ( because it smelled so good in there) They reminded us of Sunday dinner 😋. Rich flavor, crispy and seasoned well. You just do not get that tasty of a fry these days.

We went with the lobster roll flight and we’re not disappointed!! 3 different rolls with distinct flavors and textures. All three were amazing and I definitely could not pick a favorite even if I wanted to!!

Yelp
Off The Hook is a new seafood spot in Downtown Mystic. The name was very well thought out and definitely part of the overall marketing scheme. As an extension of the well-known J&R Seafood Market, it maintains high quality fresh seafoods that are quite literally caught daily "off the hook". Super friendly local family and staffing, a great addition to the area, with an overall great experience. The menu features creative options like lobster roll flights, a build-your-own poke bowl bar, fish taco trios, and more-all designed for quick and delicious dining. With a relaxed atmosphere and an innovative take on seafood, Off The Hook is a go-to destination for both locals and visitors looking for a flavorful and easygoing meal- all equally " off the hook" That poke bowl thou Cheers

Yelp
Wow wow wow! I heard great things about Off The Hook and decided to stop for lunch - so glad I did!! I got the build your own poke bowl and added lobster salad along with a bunch of other yummy toppings, and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I've had A LOT of lobster in my life, and this was maybe the best I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, super tender, and lightly tossed in mayo - just delicious. All of the other ingredients in the poke bowl were so fresh; the cucumber salad was my favorite next to the lobster. My son had the smash burger and fries, which was also absolutely amazing. The fries had a yummy seasoning and were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. We ordered online and the food was ready when we picked it up. The service was quick and friendly. I recommend grabbing your food to go and sitting by the drawbridge as there is limited seating at the restaurant. This is a must try!

Yelp
Service was good. Didn't have clam chowder or the fish tacos so I opted for the fish and chips instead. I ended up with thee tiny "fingers" of fish. My fiancé got the shrimp poboy which was great. However he did say no tomatoes and we received that with tomatoes. For $57 I didn't think it was definitely not worth it. Three tables for seating.
