"Chef Josh Hedquist (who’s also the name behind handmade pasta venture Joey Meatballs) slings New Haven-style pizza at OG Zaza in Rosedale Center’s Potluck food hall. These gently-charred pies range from classics like pepperoni and margherita to carbonara, meatball-ricotta, and a white sauce, dill pickle, and garlic combo." - Alex Lodner, Eater Staff

OG Zaza’s pepperoni pizza is exactly what pepperoni pizza should taste like. The edges of the pepperoni curl up into those perfect little crispy cups, and they don’t hold back on them either. The cheese is melty without being greasy, and that crust? Unreal. Light, airy, and just the right amount of char. It’s addicting. Definitely the BEST pizza in Minnesota that I’ve ever had. Also, the atmosphere was PHENOMENAL and represented that 90s hip hop vibe which I really dig.🤘🏼🤘🏼

I never ate here but I gave a 5 star review because I saw a video on YouTube that showed this owner helping out the homeless. That deserves 5 stars. And the man who recorded him and passed out the pizzas to the homeless said that he'd give out pizzas to the homeless with each 5 star review this business gets. Jesus loves everyone and is the only way to heaven.

Loved that this was at Rosedale in an upscale food hall which seems to be a popular trend these days for eateries. Ordering was very fast & easy as it's completed on a tablet by the customer themselves. Super cool to see the cooks baking the pizzas in the brick oven right in front of you. I decided on the Fredo with multiple other options I plan to try in the future and I received my pizza quite quickly for how busy they were. The crispy chicken on the Fredo was incredible and the flavor punch the pizza packed was exceptional. I'll be back again without a doubt.

Edit - to the owner, we got delivery otherwise I would have likely said something. I do like some char, but seriously, this just tasted burnt! I'll give you guys another shot and dine in next time The pizza itself was OK, but the crust was burnt to hell and tasted horrible. I like a more well done crust typically, but this was way overdone. I thought this would match up more evenly with Punch, but punch blew these guys out of the water. I read a review that states it’d take three people to eat one of these pizzas, but one normal sized man can definitely eat a whole one, especially if the crust is consumable. It’s about the size of a punch pizza, except the crust is super thin, so you don’t get filled up too quickly. The cupped pepperonis were great - super greasy, but that’s just pizza for you. I think if the crust wasn’t burnt, it’d be at least a 4/5, but that was a tragic first experience. I hate to sound like a Punch shill, but I’ve gone there 20+ times and never had this happen.

Worst pizza I’ve ever had. I had high hopes. This is cooked on a propane fire stove in about 30 seconds the crust was crusty while the dough was raw. Toppings slid off as soon as you picked it up. I love the char on an authentic New Haven style pizza when it’s cooked with a wood fired oven instead this was cooked with a propane fired oven so there was zero flavor in the char . It was simply burnt and not cooked how a New Haven pizza is suppose to be cooked. Absolutely horrendous.

I was told this is the best pizza in the Twin Cities, and while I was skeptical, I was completely blown away and impressed. The first time I tried these delicious pies. I ordered the Fredo with fried chicken, and it was so delightfully spicy, crispy, flavorful, and unique, but I had no choice, but to include it in my top, three best pizzas ever in Minnesota. I would definitely come back here again, and try some of their other toppings. I see they’re opening a location in Shakopee, and I really hope they open more locations throughout the Metro, you should definitely try this pizza, you will not be disappointed. .

Oh how I wish I could try this pizza. But I just watched a TikTok video and absolutely love when I see people so happy to help the community! I thank you so much for what you did. And I really hope to see more to come. I live in Vancouver Washington. One day I do plan to travel over and try this pizza so I can update this review. Again thank you🙏 god bless🙏 keep up the great work!

If we're ever in the area we'll definitely stop by for some delicious pizza, but for now we'll help from afar after watching the good this joint does for their local homeless community. Show some love to this establishment. We need more good people doing good deeds like this fella.and business ❤️

Yelp
Heard a lot about OG Zaza from the Twin Cities Pie Chasers Facebook group! The food court it's located in is nice with a good amount of seating. Got the Lil Roni and it took less than 10 minutes to make after I put an online order in. Cheese, sauce, and pepperoni were fantastic! Crust wasn't too charred and had a decent flop--I would definitely get it again

Yelp
This was a tasty pizza but quite spendy and not the best compared to other pizza places in the area. While I appreciated the amount of pepperoni on the double pepperoni pizza I ordered, it was kind of a mess. In some spots on the pizza the crust was missing so it was just cheese and pepperoni, not sure how that happened. And the pizza was over $20 which is quite expensive for comparable places. It's a good option if it's your only option but I think there are better pizza spots.

Yelp
First, shout out to what seemed to be the ONLY worker holding the place down. Great job. I was only drawn to this pizza for the unique carbonara pizza. It was a fun treat- the egg yolk "sauce" was the real highlight. Very tasty.

Yelp
Yes a machine takes your order but the pizza was delicious! Was expecting a Neapolitan style pizza and instead was given a super thin crust with Neapolitan edges -- the main crust was like a cracker crunch! Not what I was expecting but absolutely delicious! The sauce was balanced perfectly (not too acidic or tomato-paste-flavor) and the Margherita toppings were balanced and evenly spread without being overpowering. For atmosphere/environment, a mall is a mall, but it was great to enjoy this pizza outside! And to OG's benefit, it is right inside a mall access door so you can quickly order and choose whether you want to enjoy it on the spot or take out to enjoy later.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! We needed something to eat right before a movie we were seeing and decided to head over to the food court. There were a bunch of options, but the line was moving fast for the pizza line. I am so glad we decided to try OG pizza because the Parma pizza was delicious! We took our pizza to go because there wasn't a ton of sitting area right at the restaurant, but a few tables available around the corner. It was very convenient and good quality. I would definitely recommend!

ChrissieBlue C.

Yelp
Yes yes yes. Perfect flavors crust and service. Always repeat You should too. It's inside the food court in the mall.

Dannelle B.

Yelp
Greasiest pizza I've ever seen...ordered the pepperoni. Handful of napkins to soak it up and still eh. Cheese did off the crust even after letting it cool. Crust was good. Overpriced for what it is.

Linda B.

Yelp
Best Pizza in RSDL shopping center. Just try it ! This tiny pizza place does it right! Best Sicilian pizza in MN!

Anne L.

Yelp
We went after we saw this place on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. They make your pizza to order. They had a very busy day going. It was fun to watch the pizzas cook. Delightful pizza, I ate the whole thing in one sitting. Great spot to eat before a movie.

Yelp
Located in a food court inside the Rosedale mall, I decided to give this place a try. They make individual size pizzas, fast cooked in a brick pizza oven. (Could share one pizza for two people, if you are light eaters or are having other sides.) The pizza was good; the dough was thin NY-style, yet it held together and had a slight chewiness (which is a good thing for pizza). Sauce and toppings were tasty. I got the Lil' Roni pizza, and fair warning the pepperoni's have some zing. It's a fast-food type of service, and the guy who helped me was nice. But don't expect super service...you are ordering from essentially a fast-food counter. Ambiance is food-court ugly. Sorry, not a fan of food courts. And this food court is not even an especially nice one. Probably best to do take-out like I did.

Yelp
I really like Og Zaza for pizza! We have had it at the Pot Luck Food Hall and also have done take away to bring home with us after school pick-up. They have a terrific family deal that includes a caesar salad, huge breadstick that is garlicky with a few chili flakes for kick, and two pizzas of your choice for $30. They also had a $5 off coupon on the website, so we got all of that for our family of 4 for about $30 with tip, which seems like a great deal! I like the variety of pizza options. The Lil Roni is a big hit with our kids and it's nice that the pepperoni are a little on the smaller side. We also liked the Parma with prosciutto, arugula, hot honey, etc. (white pizza, no red sauce). The giant breadstick is so tasty and I love the marinara it comes with for dunking. Sometimes the crust is a bit more blackened than I would like, and we had a long wait one time even with an order-ahead order (the guy working there the last two times I've been there is SO efficient and so busy doing it all by himself!) so that is my only reason to rate it less than 5 stars!

Yelp
This spot is located inside the Rosedale mall at Potluck. They are a New Haven style pizza spot serving up Za's & more. I saw they had a pickle pizza available & I had to go try it! I had been once prior and enjoyed it then as well. Mall parking is easy. You can park right in front of the potluck if needed! I came for the Big Dilly made w/ white sauce, mozzarella & parma blend, garlic & dill pickles. I really liked it. Is it my favorite pickle pizza I have had? No - but it is a top five for me. Their pizza is actually top five overall. The crust & cheese blend hit.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
First time trying the Potluck food court in Rosedale Mall and let me say I am very impressed with all of the many meal options! OG Zaza was my first pick and was so delicious and did not disappoint! My parents had the Sicilian Pizza which has Fontina, Sausage and Shishito Peppers they said their pizza was very delicious and they loved the lick of heat from the Shishito Peppers! I had the Meatball which has Ricotta and Mozzarella and was very delicious!! The workers are very friendly, professional and timely! There are so many places to sit and is very clean which is super nice! I am overall very impressed and will for sure return to enjoy more yummy pizza!!

Yelp
Ok so we went because someone told us that OG Zaza's pizza was better than Young Joni's. That got us excited. We ordered 4 pizza's because why not? If it was that good our small group could finish it. We got the pickle, mushroom, pepperoni and Fat Joe pizzas. I could only finish a slice and nibbled on my daughter's because every pizza was so salty. The crust was also hard. The worst part was when I asked for pepper and the person told me they didn't provide it because their pizza's are meant to be eaten the way it's cooked. Really!!! A pizza place that doesn't provide pepper flakes for its customers?! As you can imagine we won't be going back. While decent their customer service was lacking and for the price, we'll go to Young Joni.

Pete T.

Yelp
This was a first for me, cold yet totally burnt pizza. They do not feel the need to announce it inform you when you're order had been completed. I was then yelled at by staff for questioning that process.

YiQing G.

Yelp
OG Zaza! They are totally worth the trip. It's such a good change from the previous place. It's a mall food hall but the quality is amazing. They are very famous on a pizza group on social media and we finally get a chance to try. Spoke with one of the owners tonight while he is making our order. He explained the dough making process and how they use a special machine. He is super friendly. We ordered 3 pizza, they are personal size approx 12 inches each. Their topping goes all the way to the edge. The dough is so so good. Got the right amount of chewiness and also has a crispy edge. Highly recommended. We ordered the pepperoni, fried chicken and shishito pepper. And salad.

Sarv K.

Yelp
Great tasting thin crust Neapolitan pizza. It's in a food court, but is far better than the type of pizza normally associated with a mall food court.

Nick S.

Yelp
YES. Wonderful, crispy, bubbly, charred pizza in the Twin Cities. Don't go to Rosedale Mall without stopping here. They have the basics, and they also have some inventive pies like the Carbonara with egg yolk sauce (yummm). Counter service with food hall vibes, right inside the mall.

Nicole N.

Yelp
"Do you recommend this place?" Where is the "ABSOLUTELY 10 STARS" button?? This was some of the best pizza I have ever had! To order, you will order from a computer up front, very user friendly! The gentleman who made our pizza was so nice and very funny! He got right to work crafting this masterpiece! There is a ton of seating in the area! It was fun to watch our pizza be made and fire cooked to perfection! If you love pepperoni, you will LOVE this pizza! The crust was perfectly crisp on the edges and bottom and a little softer and chewier on top! The cheese was golden and pulled well! The sauce was sweet with a very tiny amount of heat (minnesota spicy approved lol) They serve cans of pop here. Would I go back? I'm an OG ZAZA lover for life!!

Matthew H.

Yelp
Pizza place in a mall? It works sort of. Clean, friendly service (you order from a kiosk) Very easy ordering system and about 8-10 pies to choose from. We chose the Pepperoni (Lil Roni) and got the ceaser salad. It came out hot and fresh in about 10-15 min. Salad was great. The pizza crust had a great crunch (thin style), minimal sauce and cheese. But.. man was it salty! The saltiest pizza I have ever had. Maybe it was just the Lil Roni but if they are all like this I am going to need to pass. Maybe it's just not my taste but I certainly worth a try if you want to check it out. Note: it's in the mall and the mall closes fairly early so plan ahead!!!

Suzanne N.

Yelp
Pizza is 10/10. Loved the sauce...that is IMO what makes a pizza stand out. Also they put a lot of pepperoni on which is the correct amount. It comes out fast too!

David P.

Yelp
I'm a bit of a pizza snob and I always have had my favorites (carbones, mamas, and red savoys). Having said that I heard a lot of hype from a lovely Facebook group and had to give it a try. I went with the lil roni and it was good albeit a tad salty. The cheese was barely there and same with the sauce. The flavor was good but not exceptional or anywhere near my top three. Now the best part was the crust that was just the right amount of crunch and chew. If I'm in the mall again I would do it, but o would not go out of my way for a good small pizza. The service is self serve as well as the seating and like I said worth a try, but would rather go to my big three.

Savannah K.

Yelp
Lil Roni, more like a "lot of Roni" because this baby is stacked to the crust all the Ronis you could ever ask for. We stopped to get some pizza while we were in the mall one day and wow, it did not disappoint. We walked up and ordered on the computer screen, which is super easy, we did have to wait a little bit of time for our pizzas as it was weirdly busy for 2:30pm. This and the ambiance is why it's getting 4 stars. The Potluck food court is okay, but some of the people there make it weird. The pizza was solid, excellent cheese coverage, good flavors and great sauce! The Little Roni was a little spicy too! I kind of regret not getting the breadstick because it is very very long and looks amazing.

Jason E.

Yelp
Probably my favorite cheese pizza EVER! One of the only times I've taken a bite of something, and instantly, with a mouth full of food, said oh yes! Very good pizza!

Derek S.

Yelp
Best Pizza in the Twin Cities and it's not close. I love this Pizza so much... I could eat it every day. Service is the best, the manager is a great guy, and makes great pizza. Please please give this place a try in the Rosedale Mall, Potluck Food court. Good amounts of seating there too.

Angel M.

Yelp
Service was awesome everyone was super kind&it looked super clean!!!(my main thing) &&the pizza was to die for perfect amount of pepperonis

Lydia K.

Yelp
Small , expensive, nothing special Salt salt salt salt salt , glad I didn't get the pep.

Lorelei P.

Yelp
Reminds me of home - real NY pizza. Recommend! You have to search for good pizza in the TC. Here is one place that works!

Shane M.

Yelp
Cannot believe how good this pizza is! Seriously best prices for the quality and flavor of the food here, the high ass breadstick as well as the Caesar salad and meatball pizza, also love the sausage and shishito pizza,I highly recommend this place!

Robby N.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here for the first time. Had one cheese and one pepperoni last both of which were fantastic. On First impression, I'm inclined to agree with those who say this is the best pizza in the twin cities.

Carlo S.

Yelp
Perfectly cooked exactly the way I like it. Bottom and edges were charred and the sauce is fantastic.

Margaret J.

Yelp
pizza tasted and looked like it came straight out of the grocery store freezer . First and last time to try it! Yuk!
