Seattle’s Best Seafood Restaurants | Eater Seattle

"The sushi list at this Hawaiian-influenced Belltown restaurant leans opulent and gleefully nontraditional — on any given evening, the specials board is likely to read “stuffed,” “topped,” “fried,” and “drizzled,” all in reference to the same roll — but don’t let the flash distract from the solid execution; some of the best items on this menu are the most understated, like the hamachi sashimi. Owner Kyle “Yosh” Yoshimura, of the Yoshimura family behind the dearly departed Mutual Fish Company, managed to keep Ohana afloat amid pandemic shockwaves, cementing its status as a beloved cornerstone of Belltown nightlife. Ohana expanded to the Eastside in 2015, and the Issaquah location has earlier hours and less rowdy vibes." - Mark DeJoy

The Best Sushi Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Seattle’s oldest tiki bar, which opened in 1999, serves stiff drinks alongside a sprawling, Spam-infused Hawaiian menu. The sushi list leans opulent and gleefully nontraditional — the specials board is likely to read “stuffed,” “topped,” “fried,” and “drizzled,” all in reference to the same roll — but don’t let the flash distract from the fantastic execution. Some of the best items on this menu are the most understated, like the hamachi sashimi or the tamago (sweet egg omelet) nigiri. Despite the fancy fish work, owner Kyle “Yosh” Yoshimura, of the Yoshimura family behind historic, now-closed Seattle fishmonger Mutual Fish Company, keeps the ambiance friendly and fun with tropical tchotchkes, Christmas lights, and live Hawaiian bands." - Harry Cheadle

Google
A solid place. Since it was my first time in Seattle, I was surprised how many places close early. I normally expect cities to have options for drinks and eating well into the night, but most places were closed, and this place was one of the only ones open. Guess Seattle is a sleepy city after all!

Google
Excellent loco moco and kaluha pork. Hits the spot when you are craving Hawaiian food. The drinks are strong as described in other reviews.

Google
A BELLTOWN LEGEND! Food, service, drinks, and atmosphere always hit! This is exactly what Seattle has always needed. So glad that after so many years, this wonderful restaurant still holds strong!

Google
Wow such a great place to eat and drink! The service was impeccable. The food was amazing and the drinks were spot on! Super cool vibe inside to hang out and chill. The ambience and decorative atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in Hawaii! Food was amazing and the sushi was outstanding. I really enjoyed the black widow sushi roll and the coconut shrimp. The dessert was really good as well and I was stuffed by the end of eating. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Your employees are rad AF. Thank you for welcoming us and having us! 🥰 Can't wait to come back because I am indeed coming back

Google
A popular location. The wait can be awhile but it's worth it. The Yudon was delicious and filled with a smoky flavor.

Google
This place is awesome! I love the vibe and the food is just as good! I had the potstickers and sushi and it was great!

Google
Visited this place about 3 years ago and visited it again recently. It's still as good as i remember. Vibe is still there and they still serve strong drinks and big shots which my husband loves. Service has always been good and welcome

Yelp
Decent food, nothing too spectacular. The decor here is very hawaiian themed and we came for a friend's birthday. we reserved a large table and had that available to us immediately, even though we arrived quite early. I got the bbq pork which was such a generous portion for an appetizer. It was nice and juicy, though I didn't love the mustard dipping sauce - it was too strong for my taste. I did enjoy the pork by itself though. They also gave us a slice of banana cream pie for the birthday, which was nice of them! It was quite good - not that prominent of a banana flavor but the oreo crust was delicious. Overall, decent spot!

Yelp
The food was good and portions of sushi were very generous. Yellow tail with Jalapeños and ponzu sauce was a delight. Spicy fried rice was great, fish tacos were ok. They nigiri's were fresh! The service was ok, it was busy, but they could've given us utensils and plates as the food came out or as we sat down.

Yelp
Had a fun and memorable night here with my wife. The must thing to do is leave your mark on some dollar bills knowing some stranger from another part of this giant earth will see it and.... nothing. But it's still fun. The drinks are strong and very fairly priced. The people we ended up engaging with us were locals and who were super cool and funny. Lots of seating in here and excellent music and great drinks and good crowd makes for a plenty of reasons to visit here. We will be back if we go back to Seattle and recommend if you're in town.

Yelp
Aloha is present here so yeah feeling the Ohana spirit! They were able to accommodate my plant-based diet and throughout great spot for ono food, and awesome times! Been visiting this spot through the years and always very welcoming! Chee-hoo!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The vibe of the bar/night club is amazing but the food was definitely not good or worth the wait not sure but the kitchen left more to be desired
google avatar

Alexis C.

Yelp
Such a fun atmosphere and had a DJ table on a Wednesday. The cocktails available make you feel like you're on a tropical vacation! Servers were kind and gave us tape to add a dollar bill to the wall. Great tropical vibes and I only had musubi but want to come back for the loco moco! Update: went here on a Friday and super busy. They seemed under staffed and we were told sushi would be an hour wait. I would come back but something to think about if your on a time line.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend were looking for a chill spot for some food and drinks while we were in town and let me tell you this was the spot. The food was pretty good and the frozen drinks were AMAZING! We went on a Saturday night and apparently they had a DJ and he was playing the best hip-hop and R&B music! We ended up staying until they closed. Definitely a nice location to listen to some good music have yummy drinks and even some food if you are hungry.

Yelp
We went here for dinner tonight, and the ambiance was good, but the service could have been better. Ohana is a lovely spot for a low-key dinner, but this is not fine dining. We got Shanghai lumpia, Portuguese sausage musubi, spicy fried rice, and a shogun bento box (with spicy teriyaki chicken). The lumpia did not have any vegetables, so it was whatever. If you like spam musubi, you will enjoy the Portuguese sausage musubi; it is delicious. The spicy fried rice was not spicy, but it was the best part of our meal. The katsu and spicy teriyaki chicken in the bento box were delicious too. Overall, it was a good dinner, but it is not a place we feel we must go back to for the food. Also, for the drinks, we got the mango madness and island iced tea. The island iced tea had no other taste besides alcohol. However, the mango madness was sooo good!!! We would go back just to get that drink!
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
This was an upbeat location with bamboo booths and a tiki bar as well as an extended menu. There were a number of Hawaiian options along with sushi choices too. The food came out quick and the staff was friendly. The spam musubi ($9.95) and pupu platter ($31.95) were ordered. The musubi consisted of grilled spam slices on rice that was wrapped with nori and topped with an oyster plum sauce. The spam was grilled ideally and paired nicely with the oyster plum sauce because of how much salt was in the spam. I have always wanted to try some type of version of this, and it exceeded my expectations. The pupu platter consisted of two large coconut prawns, lumpia Shanghai, pork gyoza, beef robata, and I believe BBQ pork. The prawns were my favorite as they had a great ratio of breading to prawn and adding the sweet chili sauce helped it even more. The lumpia Shanghai was my least favorite as there was not really much flavor to these eggrolls. Both beef parts were tasty, while the pork gyoza was crispy and needed a little more filing. Overall, it was decent. Will I go back? I would.

Yelp
Super relaxed vibes, beautifully decorated space, reasonably priced food! We had the chicken katsu musubi, two drinks, and the salmon teriyaki. The chicken was good, crispy in the outside, soft on the inside, not greasy, and the sauce it came with was tasty too. The salmon was a large portion for the price -- the teriyaki glaze gave it a crisp exterior for the soft interior, and it tasted pretty fresh. The pina coladas were good too! The staff were all super nice and helpful in helping us make our picks. Service was quick and efficient. We really enjoyed our visit to Ohana and will be back!

Yelp
I love Ohana's! Been coming here for years. The food is solid and fairly priced compared to the majority of it's downtown Seattle neighbors. The good vibes alone keep me coming back. The decor is a bit cheesy, but it makes it more fun! When you choose Ohana's its like a dive bar inside of a good restaraunt. I love the island vibes and all the food is delicious! If you're not trying to drop $100s of dollars for a dinner-for-2 but still get out on the town, Ohana's is perfect! The laid-back island vibes and good food keep bringing me back. See you next month as the launching pad for my bachelorette party! Can't wait! (I will provide an update after my visit.)

Yelp
The inside of this place is SO ADORABLE! It was decked out to be the cutest tiki shack and the sushi bar was an added bonus. The music was great that night, people were dancing and just having a great time! The Mala shake was the best drink I've ever had! Saw the bartender put a decent amount of alcohol but couldn't taste any of it which was both a blessing and a curse lol! The frozen fruit blended together so well to make the best flavor. The long island was a mango flavored drink but nothing too special! Was as strong as a Long Island usually is and definitely did the trick;)

Yelp
This is a hawaiian/japanese restaurant located in belltown. It's a pretty spacious restaurant with cute decor. Everything besides the food was great. Friendly and fast service with consistent check-ins. While I wouldn't say the food is outright bad, I would say it's in between average and bad. There's just not a lot of flavor. I usually love mac salad but this mac salad had wayy to much mayo. Maybe it's just this dish though and to each their own!

Marcia W.

Yelp
This restaurant had the worst service I have ever experienced. The three of us ordered soup, chicken teriyaki and sushi. Two of the three dinners were served ( sushi 20-25 min later) but no silverware after 5 min I asked for plates besides the silverware so we could share. Server turned and left us before I stopped talking. Sushi eventually arrived but no bowls for soy sauce were provided until I flagged down a server on my third try. Sushi was very small and barely average. soup tasted exactly like it came out after a jar in Asian market with three green vegetable leaves with an egg and two meat slices in it. Ambiance- Very relaxed Hawaiian themed bar. No one checked to see if we needed anything. When all 3 of us had leftovers and we asked for containers, we were offered one. After we asked for 3 and they arrived and server departed we had to flag a server again to ask for a bag. Although we left with some sushi, no soy sauce was offered and server had left after dropping bag on table. We were quite ready to leave by then so we didn't wave anyone back. This was just our experience but we won't be trying again.

Yelp
We came here for dinner tonight and the vibes were great! Super cool atmosphere! I ordered the mango madness cocktail and it was a 10/10 - so so delicious and would definitely come back just for the drink. We ordered the lumpia shanghai and Portuguese sausage musubi for appetizers and they were just okay, nothing special and I wouldn't order them again. We ordered the shogun bento box to share for our entree and the spicy fried rice. The chicken katsu was pretty good, wish it was a little more crispy than it was but the chicken tasted fresh and was moist. The spicy fried rice wasn't spicy at all but it was tasty and my favorite part of our meal. Overall, 5 stars for ambiance, 4 stars for service (our food came out very fast), and 3 for the food. I probably wouldn't come back here to eat but would definitely come back for drinks.

Marcus M.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat in Belltown! I love their bento boxes. Friendly staff. Amazing vibes. Can't eat here enough.
google avatar

Jonathon T.

Yelp
In my original review I gave four stars because the waiter spilled miso soup on me. In the half dozen times I've come back, that's never happened again and I've been more impressed with the food and cocktails each time.
google avatar

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
Such a fun atmosphere and very wide variety of Hawaiian dishes, sushi, and drinks. Staff was slightly disorganized and served the wrong sushi combo but still very kind and friendly. We ordered a lava flow, sushi combo, and chicken katsu.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Delicious sushi and fun, casual atmosphere. We had our 4 and 6-year old with us and were pleasantly surprised by their robust children's menu including chicken katsu with rice and veggies, sushi and other items. It's always a delight when a kids entree includes (shocker!) vegetables. The service was friendly too. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
The ambience in this place is so fun and very inviting. It's a nice cool hangout place with some friends trying to just have fun or chilax. They had a DJ playing some old school music and that was a treat! Unfortunately, we had dinner somewhere else prior coming here and I wish we didn't. So we couldn't try some of the yummy food they offered on their menu. We went here for some Drinks and that Mango Madness tasted like Piña Colada and was delish. Server was nice. It's a little loud in there but would definitely would go here again. Can't wait to go back and try some of their food and Lava drink next time.
google avatar

Raneem R.

Yelp
Great vibes and great food! This place has options ranging from Hawaiian food to sushi and more. The staff is super friendly and the music is the best I've heard at a restaurant/bar. Great place to grab dinner on a weekday or weekend, I think it's open pretty late compared to other places in the city!
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
Came here for bento box and sushi. I had a great time. Good vibes, relaxed environment and the service was great! All the food I ordered was fresh and tasty. Great location and many options to choose from. Will be coming back here for sure.
google avatar

Nate C.

Yelp
Absolutely our favorite Hawaiian food in Seattle. He staff is absolutely wonderful, the food portions are large and delicious and the place has a tiki bar vibe.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
My first night in Seattle my friend and I decided to find a bar or two to check out the scenery. The first bar was pretty vanilla, so after we closed out when went for a walk to find another option. We stumbled across this place, flashing lights, good music, we figured it was worth a shot. It was giving eclectic tropical dive bar vibes. I was pleasantly surprised to spend $8 on a Deep Eddys and soda! That was a win in itself! We grabbed a seat to people watch, definitely a fun crowd. People were dancing as the live DJ was spinning some classic 99-00's hip hop and R&B. Sadly, we got there at the end of the night so we didn't get to enjoy it too long, but I'd definitely come back! This was a Saturday night, I'm curious if it's an everyday kind of party or just select nights, their website doesn't say. Ambiance 7/10
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Visited Ohana twice, both times a delight! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu - it's all yummy! Service was great. fish tacos were YUM, chicken teriyaki was unreal, pina colada delish and we tried the banana cream pie for the first time... oreo crust? Yes please!
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
Feels like a dive bar. Service was good, the happy prices are good and the food was great! Get the spicy fried rice!! Will come back again!
google avatar

Britt H.

Yelp
Terrible customer service and mediocre food and drinks. Won't be back here again and I don't recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Akanksha G.

Yelp
I'm always a bit skeptical about Hawaiian spots on the mainland, but this one was pretty good! I came by with a friend a couple nights back, and we were seated pretty quickly in a booth. As we had been hiking all day and were starving, I decided to get the Kahlua pork sandwich and split the banana cream pie. I'll start with the fries it came with - amazing. They were crispy, just the right amount of greasy, and even came curly! The sandwich was flavorful, but the meat was a bit dry. Nevertheless, it was quite tasty and filling. But the real showstopper here was the banana cream pie. I hadn't thought much about it when ordering, but I was in love at first bite. It was sweet and creamy, and the Oreo base really made the whole thing just sing. I'd honestly come back here just for the pie alone! Overall, I had a great time and will be back!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
This place was phenomenal. I wish I would have been in the mood for a cocktail cause they looked delicious. I had the pupu platter and some sushi and everything was so good and reasonably priced. The music was great and created an awesome vibe!
google avatar

Carly C.

Yelp
Always walk by but never stopped in before. Inside was actually such a vibe- total hawaiian feel. Sushi was great, katsu excellent, drinks tiki approved!
google avatar

Kimi G.

Yelp
Fun little locals bar. A tiki bar that serves food late. Had the sushi for an after dinner snack. Very lively and the bartenders were really nice.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Cool Hawaiian themed restaurant that serves sushi. This is not fine dining. The place has character, even the rest room has graffiti and stickers covering the entire space. The sushi menu was extensive and tasted very good. We had several different sushi rolls.
google avatar

Marcia J.

Yelp
If you're in Belltown and in the mood for Hawaiian/Japanese inspired fare then give Ohana a try ... don't go here expecting top notch Hawaiian/Japanese cuisine, but you can come here expecting to get some level of satisfying comfort food. Our food came fast and the server was pretty friendly. The prices are reasonable too !!!!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
High five to the chef making the fried rice. Highly recommend. Delicious as leftovers too!
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great vibes, DJ/musicians play during Friday nights around 9pm. Ron is the best! Dragon Roll. Great taste. Definitely explosion with taste. Different and unique! Ohana Roll and Kileauea Roll. Fit a long the same lines of Dragon Roll. Overall grade 10/10 great vibe, great food, awesome selection, nothing but a great experience! Expect to drop some dough if your getting a lot of food and drinks though! Have fun!

Grace A.

Yelp
Food's good, service trash. Never had someone act so annoyed to do their job. He visibly expressed inconvenience (eye rolls) to every normal request. God forbid we order food!? Water refill? How dare we. Literally stated he was not going to come back at one point when we nicely joked about how hard it was to get his attention. Weirdest dining experience I've had.

Paulina M.

Yelp
great atmosphere!!! food was delicious and quirky served ! great place for sushi , our server was really friendly.

Hayley P.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely incredible. We went full on sushi and it did not disappoint. We sat at the sushi bar and the experience and service was truly exceptional. I eat A LOT of sushi and this is the best I've had - definitely the best in Seattle. 10/10.
google avatar

Ebony H.

Yelp
Came here for drinks with friends. It's a super friendly environment. Drinks were very affordable and the tables were clean. The bathroom is tiny as an FYI and the stalls have shower curtains for doors. Other than that- it was very clean and acceptable. The overall vibe, music, and service makes this a good place to check out!
google avatar

Myra I.

Yelp
Nice spot. Food was great, service was awesome. It was pricey for lunch. We were a party of 12 and bill was like $435 so about $35 per person. I recommend this spot. They are dog friendly....
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Such good value for the price at this Hawaiian restaurant! We got a fun, colorful booth to ourselves on a lively Friday night. The menu selection is massive and they have detailed descriptions for each item. We got the Hawaiian style poke, chicken katsu musubi (there were 2 in an order and they were huge!), 2 rolls and 2 salmon roe sashimi - ALL WERE DELICIOUS!!! the servers were very friendly and the service was fast. Would definitely come back again some day! (the only other thing I would point out is that the women's restroom have curtains for the stalls instead of doors...not a problem for me but it was just different from normal bathrooms!)
google avatar

Sara V.

Yelp
The atmosphere and service are a 5! Friendly and quick service and a cute, throwback ambiance. The food was ok. The Spider tempura rolls were nice and my bf liked the Spicy Tuna rolls. I wasn't much a fan of the chicken adobo, it was a different style than I was used to, more like a home style, thick creamy gravy than a dark caramelized marinade, but I'm for sure not an adobo expert. I'd recommend if you're in that area and looking for good, casual service and small bites with drinks, the full entrees seem hit or miss.

Kayleigh B.

Yelp
Our server was amazingly nice and quick to bring us food and drinks. I got the spicy teriyaki and the portions were big and delicious. I had lots to take home. We also got the Alaska roll and it came with lots of pieces of sushi and it was also delicious. We sat at one of the booths and it was very cute and had lots of room for plates and people. This place is on the bit of the more expensive side but the food and portions were huge and the food was amazing. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This is an adorable tiki bar restaurant in Belltown. It is about two blocks away from the market. The drinks are good and fruity. So much fun to drink with an umbrella in your glass. I love that it gives you cozy island vibes while in the rainy city of Seattle. I like trying the different types of musubi's they have. I will definitely be back to try more foods and drinks.

Yelp
My niece and I were wanting sushi...my mom not so much, so luckily we found Ohana which serves sushi plus other Hawaiian foods. (My mom's been to Hawaii several times, so she agreed to check this place out.) The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 star and not a 5 is because... despite all the great service reviews...ours was subpar. We stood at the door for 3 minutes before someone acknowledged us. They then sat us with menus and we sat for well over 10 minutes before someone even brought us water. Then another 5-7 minutes to take our order. I chalk that up to short staffing thanks to covid, but our waiter was super nice when he finally came around. My mom ordered the pork sliders and asked for the spicy cole slaw on the side because she can't handle spice and was worried about how spicy it was. She later said it wasn't too bad (she can't eat mild Pace picante sauce!) ! After, she said she really liked the sliders. My niece ordered the Rainbow sushi roll, because that's what she gets at every sushi place....and she ate 3 pieces before I ate one of mine! So it's easy to say she loved it. I ordered the Aloha Roll. Crab, scallops, avocado...and I thought it was absolutely delicious! Also had a glass of the Elysian Dank Dust on tap and it was great. I'll definitely come back because the food was great.
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
I have been to this place several times since I've moved to Washington. I've come during open mic nights, late night bar, afternoon strolls. I have INLY experienced a great time here. The staff is friendly and efficient. The bar can get really full really fast but the bartenders do a great job of managing the space. My favorite drink there is a Mai Thai it's so flavorful! The wings are pretty good as well. It's also a very diverse bar so all can come! Great place and I will definitely be returning.
google avatar

A Y.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best meal I had in Seattle. The restaurant is not the typical Japanese restaurant, it is more like a Hawaiin Japanese restaurant especially with the inter design of the restaurant. The staff is super friendly and sweet. The food is good, not like super delicious but definitely will make you want to come back often
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
food was great.. service is shitty and the waiters are rude. they got upset for needing to do their job and grab us our check and were annoyed we asked for a table when we first got there

Anonymous G.

Yelp
Such delicious food! The DJ is always on point. Love the vibe and the people. A great place to run into old friends.
