This place is very impressive. Coming from Houston, a culinary hotspot, we’re always looking for places that can compete—and O.H.M.S. knocked it out of the park. We got the ahi tuna nachos as an appetizer and the portion size was perfect for 2. I ordered the surf and turf with salmon and my fiance ordered the beef filet au poivre. My steak was cooked to perfection, the salmon skin was perfectly crispy (though a tad bit overcooked for medium, I’d order medium rare) and the cheese tortellini was mouth watering. I didn’t know a simple cheese tortellini could taste so rich and delicious! We ordered a side of the wild mushrooms and we had a moment of silence for how flavorful they were lol. I finished everything on my plate—a rarity because I can’t typically eat so much— and we were truly left without words. Stuffed, we ordered the vanilla crème brûlée and again, every bite was perfect. It’s the only thing we got pictures of because we devoured everything so quickly. The ambience is perfect for a romantic dinner date—real candles, a rose, dim lighting. Our server was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We agreed, you couldn’t find a place THIS good at THIS price point in Houston. Highly recommend.

Jade was a fantastic server. We came on an extremely busy night and she did a great job taking care of us. The elk tenderloin is a standout option and I highly recommend it. We finished off our meal with the bread pudding doughnut, which was solid. Overall a great dinner

Ate here with my wife for my birthday to try yet another nice place in Amarillo. To start off, we had the Lamb Chops Egg Rolls and Pig Candy. For our entrees, my wife had the Beef Filet At Poivre and I tried the Seared Organic Elk Tenderloin. I have tried the Elk at at Public House and was recommended by many friends that the Elk was good. What I can say is that they are right. The Elk by far is the best Elk that I have ever tasted. The meat did not have any of the gamey taste that is normal to deer, elk and other forest animals. The sides that came with both entrees were quite delicious especially with the sauce. Overall, I think OHMS is a really good restaurant and will definitely come back to eat again. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to our table. We had Kendra and she was a great waitress.

Google
If you are looking for delicious food, amazing service and the perfect atmoshere, this is the place! We had a large group and we tried almost everything on the menu and it was all great. But the broccoli wS definitely the star of the show, I know that sounds weird but trust me. Get the broccoli app everyone at the table will love it

O.H.M.S. is an upscale yet unpretentious spot for American dishes and some ethnic-inspired fare. On our last visit we didn't make a reservation on a Friday night and were told it'd be a two-hour wait for walk-ins. However, we were told the bar offers the full menu and then found a seat immediately. Despite being a busy weekend night we had great service at the bar. I ordered the Beef Filet au Poivre and my partner got the Merluza Fillet. We split the Fried Egg Salad as an appetizer and finished with a Crème Brulee. The egg salad really stood out to me, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Our bartender Jake recommended a merlot that paired great with the beef. Great experience overall. O.H.M.S. is a great spot for date night, special occasions, or just because. I'd encourage reservations if you need a more intimate experience, but the bar was great for us.

Google
We absolutely loved our dinner at OHMS. We were visiting Amarillo for a couple of days and staying at the Barfield downtown. I researched dinner spots and this place seemed to be the best choice. It was exactly the right choice. I called about two weeks ahead and was able to get reservations at the time we wanted. We started with cocktails. They were both good but the bourbon old fashioned was better than the gin cocktail. And the old fashioned here was better than a similar drink at the Paramount Recreation Club next door, the Speakeasy in the basement of the Barfield that you gain entry by "buying" Paramount cigarettes from an antique machine (suddenly the door behind you opens and voila you're in). Back to the main story... For appetizer we shared a special of the night, the crab cakes. They were perfectly seared and they were bursting with crabmeat. Spiced just right. And the accompanying sauce, we wanted to lick the plate clean. They were really good. For the mains, one of us had Elk and the other had Chicken. The Elk, recommended medium rare, was oh so tender and moist. The local mushrooms that accompanied were worthy of their own dish. The risotto at the bottom was also good. Unfortunately the photo doesn't show a dish as delicious as it was. We were surprised a little that the Elk wasn't more gamey tasting. It's not a bad thing, just was a surprise. The chicken was also outstanding. Crunchy and moist. The asparagus was firm but tender, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. I must say it could have used a little more gravy as all that gravy was gone a bit before the chicken was. But then i am a sauce guy. No room for dessert. Would love to visit for dinner again!

Google
I come every year on my birthday to get the Elk Steak. It each year it has a different side. This year was a butternut squash risotto. This year was my least favorite but still good. Typically, it’s the best steak in town.

Google
A little pricey but worth every penny. Chef Josh is very skilled. There's nothing I've tried that wasn't perfect and I've had the pimento cheese sandwich. I didn't think I'd like but somehow it was wonderful!

Yelp
We visited on business and high recommendations. I would recommend a reservation for the dining room, but the bar has the full menu available. Our group enjoyed a large corner table in the bar. We tried everything from appetizers to entrees, salads & desserts. The service was great & they even provided a great nightcap The only negative mark on the scorecard was their lack of sweet tea!

Yelp
Visiting Amarillo for work and saw that OHMS was walking distance from my hotel so I decided to check it out. The restaurant has a simple and short menu, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and try their Elk Tenderloin w/ Mushroom Risotto. I was a little cautious initially as I thought the meat would be too gamey for my liking but the waitress assured me that the meat would be mild and not overwhelming. I ordered it medium rare and was surprised by how delicious and firm the meat was. With Amarillo being the nation's beef capital, I fell in love with an Elk Tenderloin instead. Don't get me wrong, I love a good steak but the Elk opened my eyes to an entirely new world of flavor. I'm looking forward to my next meal at OHMS.

Yelp
After many good reviews, I walked away from Ohms hungry, drunk, and $130 poorer for 2 people. Ribeye Steak was way overcooked, and wife's chicken was dry and cold. Appetizer was decent not worth it though. The service was good and the location is very nice. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Well darn, now I'll never get to try other restaurants in Amarillo. Amazing service, amazing food. Started with their chicharrones - amazing jalapeño jam for dipping. They had a tomato cocktail that was made with gin, aperol, Montenegro, tomato shrub, and bitters - such a well balanced cocktail. Their blue cheese dressing is some of the best I've had. And then to finish it all - their pork chop with green chile Mac & cheese was delightful! Can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu. Make sure to make reservations - this place was packed! As it should be!

Yelp
Our party of 4 visited OHMS Friday night (28 Feb) for a cocktail and dessert after having dinner at another place we didn't care for; we should have come to OHMS! Service at OHMS was phenomenal and ambiance was terrific.

Yelp
It's been a while since we were there but Yelp keeps prompting for a review. TBH... their service has been slow and staff unfriendly the last two times we were there. We had reservations last year for Valentine's Day at 8, they said come early and we might be able to get you seated early. We waited in the bar from before 6:45 to almost 9 pm before getting a table and by then they had run out of several options on a fixed price menu. We decided to give them another try on a regular week night a few months back and again the staff was not rude but definitely not friendly and again they took a long time to seat us even tho we had a reservation. I don't even remember the food so it must not have been bad but it certainly wasn't good enough to be more memorable than how unwelcome they made us feel.

Yelp
The service was wonderful. The elk tenderloin was awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant

Yelp
Having worked all over the World and had some amazing experiences.Just being in the right place at the right time. OHMS in Amarillo Texas has been a Staple of absolute consistency and best bang for buck. When dinning out, the atmosphere and staff have always been welcoming and friendly. And the food is like a good story sitting down with family, making an everlasting story you won't forget. Simply putting it, I've personally never had a bad dish or dessert and the flavors and quality has been out of this world.

Yelp
Food was very very good. Worth every Penny. Service was lacking but it gave us time to chat. I'll excuse the service, because we didn't feel rushed! But would expect better next time. It was nice to just sit and enjoy the company. It was our 56th Christmas together with friends! The price was equal to the food. Hated the Elk but the chicken breast done so well! Nothing special about the veggies on menu but pared well with the entrees. We will be back for our 57th Christmas if the Lord's willing and the creek don't rise!

Colton M.

Yelp
Of course I had to try the elk tenderloin. Holy cow it was delicious but certainly wasn't a very filling meal for $50. Maybe I'm just not used to really nice restaurants but give me a $2 cup of broccoli or something so I don't walk away hungry and $50 poorer.

Yelp
The salmon is delicious, the service was great, served quickly with appetizers and entree. The ambiance is nice, the wine displays are pretty.

Yelp
Perfect example why I use Yelp for everything, Ohms cafe and bar. Dropped in for dinner and sat at the bar. I was alone and not drinking so I ordered a Topo with lime. Cold and crisp! I really wanted to try the elf tenderloin after reading the reviews, but unfortunately they were out. For my entree I ordered the surf and turf. The options for seafood were shrimp or sea bass cheek and I went with the cheek. I subbed my starch for extra veggies. Food wasn't bad, minus the fish being over cooked and dry. Bass ended up being rubbery.. but I ate it anyway. Service was okay. Based off conversations I heard, sounds like there's a lot of regulars at Ohms. I would come back to give it another shot (and try the tenderloin).

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat for date night! Food is consistently good and atmosphere is so fun! Excellent service and good drinks! Perfect margaritas!

Yelp
I had several friends tell me to check this place out. We went during the week just before 7pm and was seated promptly. The appetizers were good but wasn't to happy with the Old Fashion cocktail. Overall the service was great! I will say it gets loud in the dinning area, so if your looking for something romantic this isn't the spot, but if you want to tune out your significant other this would be the place.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Very kind people, FABULOUS food!! Our waiter, Cameron, was SO kind, caring and his genuine personality really shines through! We felt as though it was "family" waiting on us. Recommend the organic Elk Medallions with Ancho Honey sauce. Some of the most tender elk I've had and the sauce was truly a result of a professional chef. Lighting intentionally very soft to promote ambiance, but would have preferred a tiny bit brighter (have the appearance of a bit drab, but the experience was anything BUT that!) Aldo, bring a sweater!! We FROZE. (AC and lightening were ONLY issues.) HIGHLY recommend for AWESOME food and WONDERFUL service!!!

Yelp
Meal was delicious - broccoli appetizer was my favorite - entree was huge and flavorful too...had the daily fish special (snook) with gnocchi and asparagus with tomato sauce. Service was amazing - our waiter was attentive and entertaining.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambience was good but the room was a little chilly. As a bar/restaurant it was a bit noisy. The service was superb. I had salmon, my partner had steak. As to the salmon, the sauce was exquisite and some of the asparagus was also. Half of the asparagus, however was too old and rather stringy. The salmon was poached to a very soft texture, which many people like but I would prefer it a bit firmer. The steak was marvelous and the sweet potatoes and the other vegetables were superb. The steak came with macaroni and cheese, an odd pairing, but done very well.

Yelp
Even though it isn't handicap friendly I am still giving OHMS five stars. Nice intimate dining atmosphere. We had the crap chorizo dip with chips and the highly recommended broccoli bites for appetizers. Both were delicious. For entrees we had the Elk tenderloin with mushroom risotto, chicken breast entree, ribeye and double bone in pork chop. All were perfectly cooked which made them tender and juicy. The portions were large. They had a good selection of sides. Everyone loved their meals! We shared the crème brûlée and chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Both excellent! I highly recommend it for a special night out.

Yelp
I went that last evening for dinner and a glass of wine. I've been there before and as usual the food was stellar. I sat at the bar this time which was a new experience. And very pleasant. I said it's a couple rather entertaining, and a wonderful time bantering with him and a couple other people at the bar. if you go to Amarillo, it's a must visit. Argue with the best culinary presentation in the city.
google avatar

Chas F.

Yelp
Went in looked at the menu. Nothing sounded appealing. Got a glass of wine and went to bl bistro for food!

Jay M.

Yelp
Our waiter was amazing! The food and service was great! We were with friends and had the white fish, steak and other entrees as well as amazing appetizers. My wife left without her purse and our waiter followed over two blocks to return it to her. You should try this place if you haven't already!

Yelp
Ohms was a nice find in downtown Amarillo. We sat at the bar. It's a warm cozy space and even with almost every stool being used was quiet enough for conversation. The starters are inventive and enough for a light meal. We had the fried oysters, piping hot with a light cornmeal breading. The smoked shrimp cocktail is fantastic and the spicy chili broccoli would make anyone a veggie fan. For dinner we had the barramundi served with fresh vegetables. The fish was flaky and tasty. The filet served with mashed potatoes was also very well prepared and tasted great. The family that owns the restaurant really enjoys what they do and it shows. We got to chat with several regulars while sitting in the bar area. Give it a try if you pass through Amarillo.

Laura C.

Yelp
Brayden was amazing! He anticipated our needs and was enthusiastic about the many delicious entrée and desserts.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Would highly recommend the broccoli appetizer! We originally were not planning on ordering it until we saw it come out to another table. We got the ribeye and fried chicken breast. Both were great and came with amazing sides. Service was good considering how busy they were! (We came on a Friday and the dining room was closed for a private event). Would definitely recommend visiting if you're passing through Amarillo.

Yelp
Josh and his team continues to impress. My wife and I lived her for 6 years and OHMS was a gift to us in the early 2000's. When Josh came back to help his Mom, he took OHMS to a new level. We do not get back to Amarillo much but every time we come here we eat at OHMS. We just spent 2 days in Santa Fe and we had some incredible dinners there. But, Josh and OHMS gave us an experience that I would rank better than the highly ranked restaurants in Santa Fe. Keep up the great work Josh! As always, the service was excellent. Shout out to Jade who was incredible. Best wishes to Josh's mom Mary who started this. Thank you!

Becky M.

Yelp
Great ambiance, food, service. Live this place. Bar is great. Our go to for a special occasio!

Yelp
On a cross country solo road trip. Been stopping at various places along the way that have good reviews. I feel my 3 star rating it justified for an overall rating. When I arrived it was a sole bartender handling about 15-20 guests on a Tuesday. Including those like myself who also wanted to order food. So I'd say he had a lot of people to say service was excellent. It was decent. I ordered the ribeye ($38) and a side of the $9 mushrooms. Ribeye was cooked how I have asked them and had a nice char, but the butter they put on top and with how fatty the meat was made me want to whip out a napkin and soak it up. Dont get me wrong, I love a fatty meat and I even put herbed butter on top of mine at times, this was just too much. The mushrooms were the exact same way. A tad overcooked and seemingly soaked in butter. The waiter asked what I thought and I said "eh". That's basically how I would sum it up. I only ate a few bites and cut a few off for my dog for later. I'd maybe ask for the butter on the side and try a different side.

Yelp
Excellent bourbon selection, knowledgeable bartenders and awesome eats!!! Of your hungry and thirsty go here. The broccoli app is amaze balls, GET IT ;)

Derrick H.

Yelp
Bar tender Dustin was ask if any peanut oils were used in food prep as a person in our party is highly allergic. Response was that it was safer to eat at home. Josh fuller (owner) was drinking behind the bar and the issue was addressed with him and he took no ownership in what had transpired. Horrible customer service!

Jerry L.

Yelp
Still one of the best restaurants in Amarillo . If you have not tried the Elk steak you are missing a treat. Service is always exceptional. Enjoyed the Shrimp Cocktail as well. They don't use "bait" Shrimp like some restaurants I could name. A family-run restaurant that is very attentive to your needs.
google avatar

Lia F.

Yelp
Everything was excellent! The chef is a real pro, I have never had a better cooked stake!

Thomas R.

Yelp
By far the best restaurant in Amarillo. Service is polished and the food is cooked to perfection. Wine is fairly priced. The elk is outstanding!
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Oh what a foodie gem to find in downtown Amarillo! This place is wonderful. Reservations are encouraged but not required. We started with the thai beef jerky - YUM! I had the surf (perfect filet) and turf (sea bass) and my date had the maple smoked salmon. Delish on all accounts. Fun fact: O.H.M.S. stands for "On Her Majesty's Service" because the original owner of the restaurant was British. The current owner has had the place for 28 years but kept the name! I will be back for sure! I need to eat EVERYTHING on this menu. Earning my way to that coveted Covid15.
google avatar

Kacy M.

Yelp
The prices here are definitely up there, it's in downtown, and the place itself is very nice (I dare say the small outdoor patio with the twinkle lights and heaters is even better than the indoor seating). My friends and I came for a fancy meal where we could look cute and it did not disappoint. I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I choice it bc 1)it was one of the cheaper options and 2)I love potatoes. Our waitress wasn't the most attentive: didn't bring our drinks until later after ordering, didn't get refills on water, forgot friend's side order of mushrooms until we reminded her after the entree came...but she was nice and the place was busy so I gave her a pass. The food was great - chicken was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were rich and creamy, and the asparagus was standard veg. If you're looking for a nice dinner with the girls or a date spot I'd recommend it! A table next to us was a father/teenage girl on a daddy/daughter date and it was the most precious thing.

Sam W.

Yelp
In town visiting and wanted a decent meal. Excellent service and delicious food. will definitely be back.

Dee P.

Yelp
Fantastic food! The Asian Tempura Broccoli is an absolute MUST. Ambiance fitting for a date night environment. Food and service both superior; however, be prepared to drop some $$$. Not a cheap eat!

Yelp
Such a surprise to find such great quality food in GLAMarillo. Really delicious chops and steaks, drinks and desserts. Excellent service.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! I've been in Amarillo for 12 years and just experienced OHMS. I lived in the Metroplex and had so many delicious meals. I think this was the best steak I've ever eaten. The food and the drinks and the staff were outstanding! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This local Cafe is near and tidy, family friendly, and serves up whatever you desire! Thank you for being open when I was thirsty.
google avatar

Bernadette J.

Yelp
So glad we made a reservation here! Our food was delicious, perfectly seasoned and appealing plated. I had the fish special and the savory spices were perfectly complimented by sweet roasted root veggies and Brussel sprouts. Hubs had the tomahawk pork chop which was seasoned well and very tender. The starter of chicken and waffles was tasty but we should have had it for dessert! Good for them that they were so busy though it did mean a bit, not too much, waiting for us.
google avatar

Yelp
The is a "go to" when in Amarillo. It's in the heart of downtown and near several hotels. The broccoli appetizer is amazing! A little quick sear then drizzled with a Asian sauce ... we never miss this. We have had everything from the steak to the Wagyu Chicken fry and it's all excellent! The drinks are good and the wine list is strong with good selections along all price points. Reservations are recommended as it gets busy on weekends Don't miss this place when in Amarillo.

Yelp
Scrumptious lunches and mouthwatering steaks in the evenings with great service. Good wine selection as well.

Yelp
LUNCH- Generous portions, plenty of options to choose from. Friendly staff eager to provide genuine Texas sized hospitality

Yelp
This is the place my brother's family chose to have the rehearsal dinner at on the night before my niece's wedding and it was wonderful! Her uncle was in the restaurant business so I knew it would be good if he chose it and we certainly weren't disappointed. We went through a cafeteria-style line to choose our food--my mother and I got a steak or prime rib that had a rich flavor and was melt-in-your-mouth tender. It was so good we didn't have any leftovers. The atmosphere was very comfortable and friendly and we all had a great time. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Bon appetite! April 2017--I'm happy to say I found the time to come back here this trip. I was sorry I missed it in 2009. I came for lunch because they're not cheap and I'm on a budget but I enjoyed my lunch very much. It was $10.75 for the main course and one side. I got the shepherd's pie and they didn't ask me what I wanted as a side but they gave me some delicious sauteed vegetables so I was fine with that. On a whim I ordered one of their delicious looking desserts, The Salted Caramel cake. It was Heavenly. The only negative issue I had at all was that it took forever to get a to-go box for my leftovers. There just didn't seem to be many waiters wandering around and when they did they shot through the room fast without looking from side to side so there was no way to catch their attention without yelling, which I preferred not to do. If you get to Amarillo you should definitely put this on your must-go-to list.

Cindy Y.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful! The food , the service, and the atmosphere were all top notch! We were with a large group so we ordered several appetizers and all of them were amazing. I got the surf and turf and it had pasta with it. Perfect amount and perfectly cooked. Enjoyed every bite. We will be back!

Yelp
Traveled all day and first time in Amarillo. We were recommended to Ohms by a local whom we asked for recommendations for an excellent steak and amazing wine. We were not disappointed!! I ordered the Seared Organic Elk Tenderloin and my husband had the Beef Filet au Poivre, both excellent! But our favorite part of the evening was finding 3 wines on the wine list from our favorite wine maker, Kirk Venge (Calistoga, Napa Valley, Ca)...Scouts Honor, Silencieux, and Croix. Our congratulations to the Sommelier on their excellent taste in wines! Can't wait to come back to Ohms to try the Lamb Lollipops and more Venge.

Yelp
I wish I had a pick of my steak. The food was delicious and the drinks were just right. The service was excellent and we had a great time! Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Top notch everything! We had Chilean sea bass special and a smoked pork chop which were amazing. Waiter got the kid some off the menu sides & drinks were top shelf. Ambience and decor for a 10 as well.

Tyler T.

Yelp
Hands down the best steak around! Superb atmosphere and great drinks. The service is always on their game.
