San Diego’s Best Filipino Restaurants | Eater San Diego

"This mini-chain with locations in Barrio Logan and Carmel Valley touts its fusion bowls but the menu is loaded with familiar Filipino dishes like adobo. The adobo bowl features braised pork belly with adobo sauce and a soft boiled egg atop of rice or opt for the chicken longanisa bowl featuring sweet-garlicky Filipino sausage with garlic fried rice." - darlene-horn

Where to Eat in Barrio Logan | Eater San Diego

"Filipino-American favorites pack rice bowls and bao buns at this fusion restaurant. Standouts include bowls featuring tapsilog beef and the house take on chicken adobo -- made with fried boneless thigh meat. The unique Oi Burger comes inside a pretzel bun and is stuffed with angus beef, pickled onions, and shiitake mushrooms roasted in balsamic vinegar." - Mario A. Cortez

Google
Oi Asian Fusion has quickly become a favorite! While their menu looks amazing, the standout for me is the Chicken and Gravy bowl. It's a comforting and flavorful explosion – the chicken is tender, and the gravy has a delicious Asian-inspired twist that's unlike anything I've tried before. It's the perfect blend of familiar and exciting. Seriously craveable! If you're looking for a unique and satisfying dish, you HAVE to try the Chicken and Gravy bowl at Oi Asian Fusion.

This Fried Chicken Adobo rice is fireee! 🔥 And if you choose to eat at their outdoor patio, the scenic view of Coronado bridge adds to the atmosphere. Good for brunch or a simple dinner date!

Google
This is delicious Asian Fusion. most bowls come w a nice sunny side up egg. Great noodles & rice combos. i added a few small Lumpia rolls w dipping sauce & 1/2 Wagyu beef burger in a bao bun! What a tasty trearmt! Indoor & outdoor shaded seating. This is a great spot for Padres parking. Have some food or take it to the game & walk to the trolley for a quick ride to Petco Park!

Google
Very good Asian inspired bowls. The pork belly bowl with rice was good and the umami gravy on top was delicious. I got delivery and the bowl was still fresh and hot. I'll definitely be ordering from here again. Update: the chicken karaage bowl wasn't that good after sitting for a while but I bet it's good when it's fresh and crisp at the restaurant

Google
I never expected that the food bowls that I ordered are way beyond delicious! It really got that distinct flavor that you’ll truly love and even wanting for more. Can’t wait to try the other foods in the menu! Will definitely come back. Also, the staffs are amazing! They greeted me with a warm smile when I walked in the store. Keep it up!

Google
This place is a must try. I have ordered their Adobo bowl, pork belly bun, and pork belly jicama tacos and was impressed by it all. The pork in all three dishes is quality, fatty, crispy, delicious, melt in your mouth, piggy pieces. My favorite is between the jicama tacos and the Adobe bowl. If you like cilantro, order extra cilantro sauce on the side, and you will not be disappointed.

Google
Delicious, beautiful food! Easy upbeat vibe inside or enjoy the sun on the concrete patio just out the front doors. Their pork belly is crazy good with a perfectly grilled outside, crispy and juicy! The staff is super friendly and attentive. Feel free to grab the games and play while you wait which won’t be long! #militarydiscount😁

Google
*** Very Impressed *** Modern Asian food restaurant. The food is a good mix of Filipino and Japanese. Food - Very fresh and tasteful! First time seeing the food actually match the pictures! Potions were good. I would have liked the burger to come with fries. Although the burger was $11, it was still very filling. They were Location - great location. The area is slowly growing and has a new facelift in the community. The actual restaurant is nice plenty of room. I wasn't a big fan of the chairs, they weigh a ton! Only one bathroom decent. Overall - I would have gave them 5 star if they had a better drink selection (bottle water, can drinks and tea). This place is a for sure must visit and eat! Im surprised it wasn't busy at all.

Yelp
What a gem! I hope they open more locations, it's so hard to get good Filipino food unless you drive to South County. This place is more clean and modern than typical Filipino joints. I would definitely recommend this place over White Rice. Passes the Filipino vibe check. Came here with two friends and we all ordered the pork belly adobo. Wish we ordered different things because it was hard to choose! My friend got a lumpia to share and an ube dessert. The pork belly was crispy and not too fatty/greasy. My only feedback was the sauce had a bit of. Gelatinous texture rather than syrupy, but that might be from the pork fat?? Also loved the runny soft-boiled egg, although I wish it was more of a jammy egg. The lumpia was crispy and authentic tasting. I LOVED the ube dessert, also reminded me of my childhood. You do order from a tablet, be sure to do a Yelp Check-In because as of this review you get 10% off. The food came quick and with a smile. Can't wait to go back and try more items. Will get another order of lumpia and ube again!

Yelp
The best food! The quality they put out -- is highly noteworthy and should be known to the world. Surprised I haven't seen them on food network yet as they are doing an amazing job at preserving Filipino food while adding their modern twist to it. The folks that work here are nice and very helpful. I've met the owner and they are also very courteous. Ambience of the place has an industrial feel with low lights and modern touch. Additionally, when I lost my jobs due to pandemic I became a delivery driver. Oi was one of the few restaurants that treated me with respect and valued my time as a driver. I will always appreciate that. Definitely recommend out of towners to put this on their list of places to eat.

Yelp
This was my Uber eats order. The bisteak could use more protein forsure for the amount of money you pay for it. I thought it was a ripoff. I ordered a side of radish and this is how much I got. I turned my plate into a meal for $4+ more for 4-piece lumpia and a drink. Which was worth it'. The lumpia was still crispy .

Yelp
The customer service and the food are excellent. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Our 1st time here, we ordered the adobo bowl with garlic rice plus delicious gravy and crawfish bowl with garlic rice plus lumpia. Everything prepared fresh with quality ingredients. Loads of fresh, well seasoned crawfish topped our bowl. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Reasonable prices. Must try spot! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The Fried Chicken & Gravy is worth a try. I would give the fried chicken & gravy plate 5 stars. The price was reasonable. The service was OK.

Yelp
Food I would 100% recommend getting either the pork adobo or the pork belly umami gravy. These two are my always go to items. As someone who grew up in the Philippines, and knows food well. Oi Asian fusion was a good find. I'm from LA and my friends and I go to San Diego Comic Con every year and Oi is always our go to dinner place. The food here is really good. It wouldn't taste like the authentic adobo I grew up on but it's an amazing twist with inspired flavors that just work really well. The pork is cooked really well with that delicious adobo sauce. Rice is cooked well and that egg on the side, just finishes it off. Service/Ambiance The place itself has good decorations and really nice to look at. The staff are really nice and we get the food in a good amount of time. TLDR; Good food. Good inspiration from filipino cuisine. Wouldn't taste authentic but I taste where the inspiration comes from and the flavors work really well. Pork Adobo or Pork Belly Umami gravy are my recommendations.

Yelp
Came here for an event with the SD Bangtan Army to support the FACE album anniversary for Jimin and the location was perfect for our group event. Really enjoyed the food, everything was incredible and the atmosphere was great. I recommend the Ribeye bistek bowl, Adobo bowl and the Karaage chicken with the dynamite sauce.

Yelp
Great spot and excellent food!! I had the chicken Langonisa bowl and it was soooooo delicious!! Great and friendly service. Super clean and fresh cooked food. Good music and high top tables Easy parking as well

Yelp
We stayed a few nights on Coronado Island and decided to try this Asian fusion place we found on Yelp. Located in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, in an area with quite a few eateries across from Mercado Northgate. Parking was plentiful, too. This place offered computerized ordering at the counter but in order to get the 10% discount for checking in with Yelp, you have to place your order with the cashier. The cashier was nice and even brought out our food to us when it was ready. We ordered a Tapsilog bowl, Karaage Chicken bowl, Loco bowl, crispy chicken Adobo bowl and a side of Lumpia. All the bowls were portioned generously and had unique flavors. I think personally I enjoyed the unique crispy karaage chicken, different from any that I've had before. We also really liked the garlic flavored rice in the Adobo bowl. The lumpia were crispy, but a little light on the filling. We enjoyed our meal and think you should give it a try if you are in the mood for a rice bowl!

Yelp
Amazing food and super convenient if going north to downtown. The Chicken Longanisa Bowl was a little dry on its own but the vinegar with it is amazing.

Yelp
I love oi asian fusion, I love the bowls they create and is very affordable, also if you never tried the buns it's so delicious and also the jicama pork belly tacos, another favorite it's the Ube and Pandan desserts, come on over and try this great spot
google avatar

Christine A.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of crawfish so I just had to try their crawfish dynamite bowl (not spicy btw)! The crawfish portions are very generous and the bowl was big enough to be two servings. I also had their sweet potato fries, which was decent, and their pandan cream dessert. I feel like the dessert could've been better but I do think it's worth a try. I paid about $26 for everything -- not a bad deal considering the portions and quality! The employees were also very nice and helpful and the restaurant itself is pretty intimate. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is lots of parking!

Yelp
This is our regular/rotational place. My daughter loved their Karage Bao. We cater that item for her Bday party because that's how much she enjoyed it. Other items we enjoy are the pork belly bowl, chicken Karage bowl, and the ribeye bowl. All of which are damn delicious. The food are freshly made and the staff is top notch. Small businesses that makes bomb food should be ones we always support. I'm thankful we found this place and we are now loyal supporter.

Yelp
Eating here is a must! I tried at least 6 items off the menu and they were all fantastic! I loved the fried they give whole garlic with it and it tastes so good. The rice bowls are made perfectly along with the meat. The service was amazing and the food was made fresh. There was plenty of seating and things to look out including outside seating. This is a must try place!

Yelp
I love this place! Owner is very nice and place is clean, too! Best of all, they serve my favorite pork belly! Will definitely keep come back.

Yelp
This place is legit Asian fusion culinary delight. Food is sooooo good!! Fresh, clean, cooked perfectly, and bursting with flavor! Staff is really friendly. Place is casual and chill. Drove down from Irvine and will definitely come back whenever we can. Highly highly recommend. Tried Adobo Bowl, Pork Belly Umami Gravy, Fried Chicken Adobo, Dynamite Crawfish, Pork Bun, Angus Bun, Egg rolls, and Ube Upside Down

Yelp
I got to try OI Asian Fusion for the first time on Monday, by ordering through the DoorDash App. When I was checking out their menu, I saw the Fried Chicken Adobo and I was intrigued as a Filipino girl I was very interested in how it would turn out. I ended up getting the fried chicken adobo with their garlic fried rice. Always get their garlic fried rice it's delicious and if you're a garlic girl you'll definitely appreciate it. Okay, the chicken adobo was so a really delicious take on the classic. I love the fried chicken it was moist and tender and with topped with the adobe sauce it was so flavorful! I especially appreciate the medium boiled egg it was still runny when it got to my office. Ugh, definitely have to try this place out in person because the food is just really delicious.
google avatar

Nikki S.

Yelp
Ordered here for a late night meal. Got disappointed. Overrated food. The adobo was meh. The burger was greasy.
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Listen. Me, as a Filipina, 100% approve of this place! THIS is the type of modern day Filipino food should be more glamorized! The flavor is there and you will 100% be getting enough portion wise how much you paid for. Perfect place to eat before a Padres game or go get out of downtown SD. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Finally visited the actual restaurant today. Decor was on point Filipino pop culture. We enjoyed the casual ambiance and the food.

Yelp
Heard great things about Oi Asian Fusion, so i had to check them out for myself. I went to their barrio logan location. They're really trying to build up the area and have made tons of improvements so far. Parking is plentiful on the street and a nearby parking lot. The casual restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for dine in customers. But more importantly... on to the food!!! Their Asian fusion menu has so many interesting flavor combos to choose from with their bowls including pork belly adobo, chicken karaage, crawfish dynamite, ribeye bistek, and chicken longanisa just to name a few; their burgers and buns; sides like lumpia and sweet potato fries and more! We ended up deciding on the Adobo bowl, Crawfish dynamite bowl, chicken karaage and ube upside down pie for dessert. Everything was presented beautifully, and not to mention tasted great. In my mind I kept thinking about all the other menu items I'm going to try at my next visit. The staff is also so friendly and helpful with recommendations with the menu. I highly recommend trying them out. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The food is 10/10! They recommended the crawfish but I would never had ordered it on my own. I took a risk and loved it. If you ever had a dynamite roll elsewhere, then it would be exactly like that but in bowl form. The adobo and umami gravy ones were similar in the fact that they both had pork belly. The adobo one was more acidic while the umami one was sweeter. Either way, both are good!
google avatar

Yelp
this business is A-OK! HYPES: love that they are spotlighting filipino cuisine! :) my husband and i got the topsilog and the adobo fried chicken. both of these were okay! GRIPES: my topsilog was a little tough and hard to eat! but the radish pieces were delightful and added that sour/sweet to the dish i was CRAVING! also, my husband's adobo didn't taste like adobo at all. there was some sauce on the rice, but it didn't taste like adobo. it looked like it was just fried chicken, which we both enjoyed-- just not what we were expecting. we can see the promise in this place and really enjoyed the eggs that were in both meals!
google avatar

Nette B.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Bario Logan. I was told this was where the gangs used to be long ago. Love what they did to this area and I equally enjoyed the food and ambiance. Tried a few dishes: Adobo Bowl Pork Belly Jicama Taco Shanghai Lumpia The adobo bowl was ok but I loved the Jicama Tacos the best. The Shanghai was regular like other filipino spots. I hope to return again and try different dishes.
google avatar

Rexie S.

Yelp
This place was part of a Taste of Barrio Logan event and they served the Karagee Fried Chicken. The chicken was delicious and fresh. Friendly service. Would come back to try other things.

Yelp
Well. I spent 31 bucks on lumpia, the Adobo garlic rice bowl, and the taro dessert witha can of coke. I splurged on my only meal for the day. Haha. Lumpia was crunchy and light and flavorful a tad bit greasy and i thought i got a good amount for the price. Adobo bowl was mehhhh. Too much gravy (get it on the side), rice tasted like white rice without extra flavor. Chicken was ok but there were a ton of bites where all u were chewing was rice I think they hid the lacking amount of chicken with gravy as a trick to the eye. Lol The ube upside down pie dessert was a wild card, I had no idea what to expect for 7 bucks. It was visually tiny. Like surprisingly tiny. It had a good flavor, but it basically felt like I was eating ube pudding with a soggy flavorless Graham cracker topping. Nothing to write home about. I'd go and try another type of bowl and maybe I'll have a different experience. There are tons of places to sit, but the chairs are so high I cannot see an older person coming here to dine.
google avatar

Shamene M.

Yelp
stopped by for lunch and to try these famous bowls I've been hearing about! I tried the ribeye bistek bowl and it was amazing! The steak is so flavorful and the fried egg on top is so fun. I also got the lumpia which was crispy and just what I was hoping for. For dessert I tried the Buko pandan! I was surprised to see it was green inside and tasted like coconut! I was going to save some but ended up eating the whole thing, it was so mouth watering! The staff was so friendly and it had a really nice modern vibe.
google avatar

Edwin A.

Yelp
There's a lot of good restaurants in this area but you just have to try them out and this place is a must try. I got the karagae bowl and it not only looked good but it was off the chain. There's a lot of stuff I need to try out. The portions are generous and filling happy. Give it a try if your in the mood for some rice and you will be amazed
google avatar

Ja-Blah B.

Yelp
All I can say is yummm! Try this spot for sure. I came for the pork belly umami gravy bowl based on a photo I found here on yelp and I wasn't disappointed at all!! The flavors of this bowl and texture of the pork belly exceded my already high expectations. I was also surprised by the nice-sized portion for the price. I look forward to going back and trying more off their awesome looking menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Fast service! Came here due to a recommendation from a friend! Super yummy. Two bowls + soda is around $33!
google avatar

Vannie C.

Yelp
If you're looking for modern Filipino food with a nice Asian twist this is definitely for you! I'm a huge fan of Filipino food and this place definitely hits the spot for me. There's a variety of different dishes to try, interior is nice, and there is also outdoor seating. Workers are very friendly and food is made fresh on the spot. Here are some items you MUST try when you come, they were my top faves! 1. Chicken Longanisa - It's so delicious. Honestly even better than your regular pork longanisa in my opinion! 2. Rib Eye Bistek - Steak is really nicely seasoned and cooked very well! It was very juicy too! 3. Karaage Chicken - Chicken was crunchy and juicy, really well made. Make sure to eat this with the garlic sauce! 4. Tapsilog - Make sure you ask for the spicy vinegar! It tastes great with this beef dish. 5. Ube Upside Down Dessert - ube custard with graham crackers on top. It's really good, nice creamy texture and not overly sweet. Overall, everything is very tasty here. I would highly recommend this place if you love Asian fusion and Filipino food! And if you haven't tried Filipino food before, this is a great place to start your Pinoy food journey and discover the many great dishes Filipino food has to offer.

Yelp
The food was fresh & delicious. This is the best pork dish I've ever had. The restaurant was clean, the service was great. I would definitely recommend

Yelp
I'm not usually a fusion type of person, but I was willing to try. People were super friendly. The food was good. It wasn't the normal greasy Filipino food, which don't get me wrong, I like once in awhile. The meat was quality and I never pass up lumpia. So happy that the tapsilog included spicy vinegar and loved the pickled radish (?). So I had to order the ube after we ate. It wasn't heavy, it was a nice fusion take on ube dessert. We will come back and try the other items. Pictured: Adobo bowl, tapsilog, lumpia and ube upside down

Yelp
By far the best Asian Fusion for an affordable price 10/10! Parking isn't hard, ambience celebrates my Filipino culture. Was not that busy for a Saturday brunch. Got their Pork Belly Umami Gravy with an additional price to enjoy in garlice rice; my palate was having a feast! Every bite is so flavorful, the right amount of seasoning, portion is good for 1 person. My boyfriend ordered their Fried Chicken Adobo with garlic rice and I got to try it and my goodness, chicken was a mixture of crunch and juicy-ness. For dessert, we tried their Ube upside down and it enjoyed the ube goodness! I don't live in San Diego but was I so glad to know they have a location close by in Chino! Will for sure be back to try the rest of their menu soon! Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Never had filapino food before and this place did not disappoint. Got the fried chicken adobo and it was super flavorful. The atmosphere here is great too. Not a bad place to hang with friends. Lots of tables to accommodate. Pro tip: ask for hot sauce to spice it up . They come in cute packets (see photos)
google avatar

Oh D.

Yelp
Good stuff! The gravy was unique! First it was a bit confusing, still pleasant. By the end, I was scrapping for last bit of gravy with rice Added the soft boil egg....it's kinda weak, not worth the add. But the pork belly for sure is BOMB! Good decent portion for under $15. Left me satisfactorily full!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicousness here at Oi Asian Fusion. Check out this spot for some good rice bowls. Got a little bit of everything here yet still simple, easy, and quick. Rice Is Life is the truth!

Yelp
Amazing alll fusion. What else can you ask for. Dont just take my word for it. Try them!! Filipino food of course are my fave there!!

Yelp
Came in at around 12, and I didn't know what to eat, but I knew I was hungry. The super nice cashier Lupita suggested the Adobo Bowl. Needless to say it was so good ! Next time, I want to the Fried Chicken Adobo. I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
Oi Asian Fusion has some of the best, if not the best rice bowls in San Diego. The ambiance is great. Service is top-notch. Everything on the menu is delicious! If you want quality eats that won't kill your pocket, this is the place!
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Yum! This food was legit tasty, and person serving us was super sweet. My favorite was the jicama taco... surprising and so delish. Will return!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was delicious I got the adobo plate! BUT the doors were wide open and there was SO many FLIES! I ate there so it was very uncomfortable to eat. Please turn the ac on and close the doors

Yelp
I and gf were looking for Filipino food to eat. typically we always to go Villa Manila in National City but They were closed on Mondays. We decided to eat at Goldilocks. As I was searching through my phone yelp for Filipino cuisine. I noticed a Filipino Cuisine with very good reviews. But it kinda not sure if it's worth it to try. Because it's a fusion of Filipino food. As a Filipino living in San Francisco Bay area. there is so much good Filipino cuisine that I've eaten. So I and my gf ordered two different dishes. I ordered as usual beef tapa and egg with garlic rice. And my gf ordered chicken and gravy. And oh boy it's a super yummy and different version of Filipino food. Must try it if you visit San Diego.
google avatar

Kristelle B.

Yelp
I have ordered from Oi Asian a few times now and have, so far, tried their pork belly umami rice bowl, tapsilog, and the fried chicken adobo bowl. The serving itself is huge and comes with plenty of rice just like how Filipinos like me would like it. You can upgrade to garlic rice which I highly recommend. My favorite amongst the three has got to be the pork belly umami rice bowl. Apart from it being very good and the meat being so soft and tender, it is a unique dish in itself. The fried chicken adobo bowl is an interesting take on adobo because it's fried chicken thighs and the "adobo gravy" is underneath. I'll probably try their pork belly adobo bowl next time which I think is the bestselling dish.
google avatar

Levy C.

Yelp
Food is very tasty, place is awesome and very chill vibes. The service is phenomenal. I recommend it to all filipino or non filipino.
google avatar

Mari G.

Yelp
Food was a big hit. Friendly polite server on her toes, I remember her name Lupita food came really quick, telling my friends and family great prices
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I've eaten here a handful of times now and have yet to try something I didn't like. All of the menu items are packed with unique flavors. The plates are a little small for the price, but the food is made with love and it shows.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg chicken kaarage is to DIE FOR!!!!! Highly recommend and the Ube cake is unreal. Go eat there ASAP lol
google avatar

Brittani C.

Yelp
Yum!! Ordered: Pork Adobo Pro: -Juicy, flavorful pork belly with just the right amount of sauce that flavors the rice underneath too! The soft boiled egg was cooked just right!! -Clean interior with plenty of seating and parking Con: -Not really a con but a personal preference to have vegetables in the bowl FYI: the yelp address is inaccurate and directs you to the opposite side of the building.

Yelp
It is good. Really good unique menu and the friendly staff is patient and helpful to people trying to figure out what to order
