OK Donna

Situated in a trendy spot, Ok Donna is the new restaurant youve gotta try. I came here on a Friday and had an amazing experience from start to finish. I loved the dark, moody ambiance. It truly felt like an old New York restaurant filled with history and a sense of nostalgia that made the night feel special. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing, which really elevated the experience. The food overall was great, and we tried an exorbitant amount of the menu. The crudo was fantastic, with beautiful textures and bright flavor. The cabbage completely exceeded expectations. It was easily a standout and an absolute must-order. The arugula with chips was simple but very tasty. The fish with pickled vegetables was so good, it was a like a light, healthy option that still delivered on flavor. The spicy pork pasta had excellent flavor and the quality of the pasta itself was exemplary, though it could have benefited from a bit more sauce and meat. The gnocchi tasted more like grits; it was enjoyable, but not something I found myself wanting another order of. The mortadella was okay, though I wish the exterior had been more flaky and buttery. Desserts were all good but not particularly memorable—the biscuit with apples was the only one I’d recommend. I came with family, but this would be an excellent spot for a date or for grabbing drinks and food before a night out. I will definitely be coming back!

OK Donna is a fantastic neighborhood spot with great food, excellent service, and fair pricing. We came in for a casual family dinner and had a great experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly and attentive without hovering, and our server (I think her name was Casey) gave excellent recommendations and paced the meal perfectly. The food was very well prepared. The standout dish of the night was the Roasted Cabbage — salty, crisp, and incredibly satisfying. We also enjoyed the fried rice and pep pizza, both fun and flavorful. For mains, the Chicken Milanese was a generous portion with a well-dressed salad, and the Spicy Pork Spaghettoni was outstanding — perfectly cooked noodles with just the right amount of heat. The pork chop was solid and hearty. Dessert was the Torta Della Nonna, a comforting and not overly sweet finish. Drinks were excellent as well, especially the espresso martini, which was the best drink of the night. The lasagna didn’t quite hit for us, but it was opening night and we’d gladly try it again. Overall, an easy five stars — we’ll definitely be back.

The food was amazing. The Roman gnocchi is the best potato-based item I’ve ever had. I enjoyed all 8 dishes we shared. I’ll be back!

First stop in Charleston, and Ok Donna was highly recommended by locals! Just opened however, I can see this place staying forever! Had the yuzu margarita to start, very delicious and well made! For food, the chicken Milanese was HUGE! Nice juicy cutlets under a bay of Caesar salad- dressing was on point and the whole presentation was beautiful. The rigatoni vodka was delicious as well and highly recommended. The staff is super friendly, and everyone treated us like we knew each other for years, the hospitality is amazing!!!! Overall 10/10 and would definitely come back here next time I’m in Charleston!!!

What a surprise! I love cooking! And as someone who comes from a family where everyone cooks really well, I always feel a little anxious about trying a “new restaurant” (they just open) because I hate paying for food that disappoints me. I had this feeling before in a couple of restaurants in Charleston. It’s funny because my friend and I decided to get the chicken Milanese (fried chicken breast), and I usually hate fried food, especially outside of my family’s cooking. But their chicken made me feel at home! It was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. And the salad, the salad was so fresh, Sorry for the hype of a salad and chicken it’s because it genuinely was a simple well made food (the person who made that plate wasn’t thinking much about money, they were thinking about quality). I’ve been thinking about that chicken and salad for the past week. I even thought about calling them to ask for the recipe and promising I would never tell anyone else. Btw yes highly recommend!

The absolute best experience!! The food is insane, we had almost everything on the menu and you can’t go wrong with anything. The drinks were so good and the vibe/music is amazing. We couldn’t have had a better experience and can’t wait to come back!

Great vibe with a fun menu. We had their gnocchi, which is made with semolina, and a flounder with broccoli and bagna cauda. Both were fantastic as was the arugula salad. We also tried a slice of pizza, which is more of a foccaccia. It was good, but nothing special compared to the other menu items.

Wow! What a fun new spot in CHS. We shared a ton of pasta, sides, and starters and all were a hit. The service was wonderful and our server was knowledgeable on all aspects of the menu. We loved the cabbage and all of the pastas - my favorite was definitely the Chicken Milanese. I will be back for the cabbage and to try literally anything I didn't the first time around.

Went to OK Donna with my mom and had a good experience overall. It is definitely a very trendy spot in Charleston and I think the hype set expectations a bit high, but it was still enjoyable. Service was strong and very attentive, with the host checking in often. We sat on the back patio with heaters and it was packed for a Wednesday night. Atmosphere was fun and lively. Food was good but not great. The arugula salad was my favorite, and the lasagna was solid. Overall a four star experience with great service and energy, even if the food did not completely blow me away.
