Oko Cafe is a sweet little cafe. To be honest, I remember coming here before, but not the drinks I got! I have pictures, so I do know. However, I will undoubtedly remember my most recent visit! We ate dinner in this plaza and I was in the mood for a drink afterwards. We wandered inside Oko and I noticed the Sakura Cherry Blossom & Moshi Moshi stuff.
TIP: To order from the Momoko x Moshi Moshi menu, you must use the kiosk. You cannot order at the counter.
When you step inside, you'll see that the furniture and decorations are all black & white. Like the artist drew all the lines with a black Sharpie! There's a train complete with seats & handholds for standing passengers. Too cute! Previously, there was a family of ducks that once graced that wall. There's also a guitar, telephone, computer, and a portrait of Albert Einstein! I love the functional piano named Hammond! They even provided a music book! It's neat that they change up the interior from time to time. This black & white drawn theme continues to the counter & the restroom!
Parking is free at the Pacific Square Shopping Center.
The two items I wanted required me to use the kiosk. I got the Sakura Cherry Black Milk Tea with Kikkoman Organic Soy Milk & Sakura Honey Boba ($7.65) - I loved this drink! The tea bag is left in the cup. The drink itself was quite ambrosial! What made this drink a notch above was the Sakura Honey Boba! They were absolutely amazing and more than worth the 90¢! I don't know if this is permanently on the (kiosk) menu or not, but I need to get some more! I was a little bit sad when I finished my drink! Interesting fact: Momoko x Moshi Moshi offers 5 different Milk choices - Kikkoman Organic Soy Milk, Oatly Oat Milk, Stratus Organic Milk, Califia Almond Milk, and Hokkaido Non-Dairy Creamer.
We also wanted to try the Fresh Tama Strawberry Sakura Cream Sando ($5.50). It took a while for this sando to come out because it is made fresh. It looked like quite a work of art! I must say that eating it was a feat in itself! I tried to cut my half into bite-sized pieces, but everything oozed out from the bread and made a mess! I ended up eating it as a deconstructed sandwich. In a way, it reminded me of a Strawberry Shortcake. [ https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oko-cafe-gardena-3?select=cirXq4KbQYoaVXiTA6FjPg ]
It was worth the extra time it took to get the drink & sando because they were made fresh while we waited!
Looking back at my pictures, I've been here three times with a 2 year gap between each visit. Wow! I can assure you that I will undoubtedly return this year, not two years from now!
