"This restaurant was founded in 1954, in what used to be a bar. In a classic Showa-era touch, the space reverberates with the unmistakable noise of the railway viaduct above. The popular ‘Modern-yaki’ offered here is stir-fried noodles with pork and squid, which is mixed with egg, forming the body of the savoury pancake. The ‘Sujitama’ is in Osaka style, where generous amounts of beef tendon and green spring onion are mixed into the base mixture, with oba added for some subtle flavour." - Michelin Inspector

Went a little before 6 on a Thursday and it is a bit confusing at first as there is a sign that says it may be an hour wait. There was no line so I just went in and they sat me on a bench in a waiting queue. Waited about 15 mins before I got seated. Small place with nice character, and they do have English menu. I didn't get to sit at the front so a bit unfortunate that I could not see it being made in front of me. Ordered a mixed okonomiyaki and yakisoba. It came to my teppanyaki already made but was good. Definitely hit the spot and was not very pricy but was nothing that was too mind blowing. Would try it again if I am back in Osaka

Some of the best okonomiyaki I’ve had in my life. When we got there we didn’t see anyone queueing outside, so we helped ourselves up. We were then greeted by the owner and told to sit at the small bench with the other 5 or so people who were queueing. The restaurant is pretty small with the teppan counter having maybe 6 or so seats and an additional 3/4 tables on the side. Expect to be crammed. The staff were attentive and handed up an English menu and we were allowed to order even before seats were available to us. But onto the food. My god, this meal felt life changing. I’ve had okonomiyaki plenty of times in the past, but this place was really one of the best I’ve had. I can’t really pinpoint what it was, but the flavours were right up our alley. This is also one of the cheaper okonomiyakis I’ve seen around, being less than 1000 yen for their pork & egg version. I will 100% come back the next time I am in Osaka. The only real downsides I see for this place is that you most likely have to queue and since the restaurant is small, you will definitely feel a little claustrophobic both while you’re queueing and eating. As with many hole in the wall joints, it can feel a bit dirty and a little offputting. Oh and you feel the vibration of the trains passing by every now and then. Overall, amazing taste, incredibly affordable, a bit dirty. Definitely will revisit.

We had dinner here on a raining cold day and it was perfect. The Japanese savory pancakes (Okonomiyaki) served to you offer the grill and it warms you up instantly. For a party of 2 we got a okonomiyaki and a yak soba to share. They are were accommodating to foreigners and tried to interact with us as much as possible. This place is pretty popular and I think we waited around 30 mins, which is short compared to stories iv heard from friends. I think it's much better then some of the other okonomiyaki I've tried in Osaka and worth visiting if you have the time.

Google
Food here was delicious! We went with traditional Okonomiyaki, and both were fantastic! Based on our experience, it seems they attempt to seat the entire restaurant in batches, so once it is filled, everyone else must wait until the last person for the group before leaves before they seat as many as possible. They will give you a number for queue position. Based on what we saw, there are 7 bar seats and 4 tables that can seat 1-4 people, with the website listing a capacity of 20. Food was great and the staff provided an English menu as well. Only item of concern is a decent amount of dust buildup on the ceiling in sections. Otherwise a great place for a meal!

Google
What an amazing experience! We waited a while for a table but when you get up the stairs and take a seat you understand why! The chefs prepare the pancakes in front of the customers, one group at a time, and it’s amazing to see the process. The pancakes themselves are delicious and filling! The tiny restaurant is set in a building under the train tracks and the sound of trains rumbling overhead add to the unique ambience and the feeling that you have stepped into a secret little world of deliciousness.

Google
Excellent food. Most of the staff are friendly. Very hard to spot because the shop front is just a door with two flights of stairs. The queue is really something. We got there at 11 and the queue was quite long. By the time we left it was just as long. The food was worth it and price is very cheap. I’ve attached the menu so you can get ordered prior. Must go.

Google
delicious okonomiyaki but be prepared to wait in line since the restaurant is seated in batches. food also takes a while to come out since it’s all made at once. mix okonomiyaki was fluffy and rich. toppings were also flavorful.

Google
Really amazing experience. Super hard to find but worth the struggle and long wait. There are about 9 seats at the country and another four tables with griddle tops that can hold four a piece. They would being English menus when you get to the upstairs bench line. There are just a handful of options including okonomiyaki and yakitori. And a half dozen drink options. Take note that you cannot order additional food once you place your initial order so make sure you get everything you want. You can order additional drinks however.

Yelp
Really good Okonomiyaki. They do one entire seating at a time, so we had to wait an hour for the previous seating to finish. I'm not sure it was worth the wait... They do have an English menu if you request it. The modern yaki is their most popular dish. It has a delicious layer of yakisoba in it. I loved all the seafood and the pork. Wonderful sear on both sides. The experience was definitely in contrast to the food. We have been traveling in Japan for a while, and have gotten used to the fantastic service at restaurants and stores. The staff usually enthusiastically greet you and also thank you when you leave. The staff barely acknowledged the customers, keeping interactions to a bare minimum and only interacting amongst themselves. They didn't greet us and didn't say goodbye to us. It was a very odd experience that was only emphasized when compared to other restaurants in Japan. I do care about the food more than the service, but I did want to note the odd service.

Yelp
Really popular okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) shop and usually commands a 30+ min wait. We came on a raining day and waited about 30 mins. The shop is small, with only a few tables and some bar seats by the grill. the small staff was really warm and welcoming. We spoke very little Japanese but we were seating in front of the grill and the chef tried hard to communicated with us the whole time and it was a lot of fun. It's defiantly one of the better okonomiyaki I've had in Osaka. It looks heavy in ingredients but was surprisingly light. We shared a okonomiyaki and a yaki soba over drinks and it was the perfect amount for a late dinner. I would definitely visit again if I have the time.

Yelp
A-mazing. If I ever go back to Japan, Kiji might be a big reason. Great atmosphere, great food.

Yelp
If you're visiting and don't speak much Japanese then you've come to the right review. This restaurant is small but the spot to check out! Go early, and I mean an hour+ early because there will be a decently long line if you go at opening time. This place will be all in Japanese, even the sign and menu! My party of 10 split up into 2 groups of 4 and a group of 2. I'd say theres roughly 4 tables that seat 4 people and the bar seats maybe 6 people (20-22 seats max). My table of 4 was able to get the server's suggestion for okonomiyaki (one pork, one beef, one shrimp, and one noodle) so if you really think about it each person would be able to finish one to themselves! Super affordable, around 900 yen each and you won't be extremely full after you eat! My favorite was the shrimp, didn't have too much of a seafood taste. I do believe there's a seafood combo, so that's worth a try! Either way you'll be satisfied with any filling.

Yelp
This place is a treat. Had other nom nom plans but the Yelp reviews encouraged us to go. Definitely check it out if you are in the area but let me just preface that it's not easy to find. Like others have mentioned, it is located in the basement of the Umeda Sky Building. It's a maze once you get down there so I recommend just asking someone for directions. It was 6-ish on a week night and the line up took just over 45 minutes. We were seated at the bar (my personal preference) and were able to get a great view of them cooking. Ordered two of their signature okonomiyaki (seafood and meat) and devoured it in less than 15 minutes. Really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Oh yeah, owner wrote a souvenir note and gifted it to each foreigner that was sitting at the bar seats. He came up to me afterwards and personally thanked me for eating at his resto and told me to visit whenever I'm in Osaka. Needless to say, I'm dedicating my 100th review to Kiji.

Yelp
the best okonomiyaki I've ever had in my entire life

Leilani C.

Yelp
It did take us a second to locate the restaurant but eventually got to the correct area. Whew! It was kinda busy but the wait was pretty fast. They set up chairs inside for you to wait. The shop is small was efficient. There were 4 in our party and were seated at a table with hot grill. We saw the chef prepare our delicious pancake at the main grill and they turned out our grill and transferred our okonomiyaki to finish up/keep warm. I ordered the squid okonomiyaki and it was really good! They also do a stir fry but that's pretty much it. This meal really made my trip :) You need to pay in cash! Bring cash! There are signs everywhere that they are a cash only shop.

Yelp
The first thing you'll notice with Kiji is that it's a bit hard to find. Go down to the B1 area near the Umeda Sky Building area and look for the restaurant rows. Get to the very end on the lefthand side and you'll find Kiji (tough to notice if you can't read Japanese). I came right at opening time on a Tuesday and there was no queue luckily! I got to sit right in front of the grill. The menu is all in Japanese so do be aware that you'll have to probably say or point to something that designates what you want. I got the pork okonomiyaki. They also cook the yakisoba in front of you too. After about 15 minutes and drinking a whiskey highball (400 yen I saw on the sign next to me), I got my okonomiyaki which I got to eat right off the grill. Delicious; simple; to the point. No hassle and I felt I got more than my money's worth. Great stuff. :)

Yelp
Found this place browsing YELP and I cannot believe I missed it the first time. It's a little tiny restaurant with lots of character and very good OKONOMIYAKI. We arrived about 845pm and their was a long line already formed out the door. Inside you have counter top seats about 6 and about 6 tables that can accommodate a good size party of 6 but please arrive early. So it was almost closing time and the owner came out and took our orders even stayed open until everyone was served that is AWSOME! they a nice illustrated menu which I think he probably created it himself and he will recommend what is best if it's your first time and don't forget to order a icy cold beverage for adults BEER! cause it goes well with OKONOMIYAKI. The walls are lined with notes from all of his customers and it's one HAPPY PLACE TO BE! So sit have your meal and be considerate of others and leave when you are done so others can also enjoy. Will certainly be back again

Yelp
Okonomiyaki was on my list of must-eat things while in Osaka. Luckily, Kiji had amaaaaazing reviews, and we were staying pretty close by, so it was a no-brainer. We got there around 6PM on a Sunday evening, and the line. was. LONG. The place itself is pretty small, so there isn't room for a lot of seating; the chefs clearly work as fast as they can to get people in and out. We waited about 1.5 hours before we were finally in. The nice thing is that they try to expedite the line by having you order while you're waiting. Once you get close to the front of the line, someone will hand you a menu. We ordered a mixed-yaki (ミックス焼き), modan-yaki (モダン焼き; noodles with pork and squid), and suji-yaki (すじ焼き; beef tendon); these three came recommended to us. Once we sat down, it wasn't long before we were brought out three drool-worthy savory pancakes. They're fully cooked, but they will, without a doubt, continue to get deliciously brown and crispy as they sit on the grill, waiting for you to devour them. All three were amazing, but I think my favorite was the modan. It was a bit different from typical okonomiyaki; definitely worth trying. One thing that I love about the decor is that the walls are plastered with notes from happy customers. Thank you notes are written on napkins and then affixed to the wall for future customers to read through. There are definitely a huge variety of people who go through Kiji, and it seems that most of them are, rightfully, satisfied with their visit.

Yelp
This place is incredible! It's so delicious and not that pricey. Unfortunately, it doesn't seat many people at once, so if you get here late, you might be stuck waiting over an hour. However, it's definitely worth it. The top three are soba noodles, seafood and pork okonomiyaki. I highly recommend you try all three. The soba noodle okonomiyaki has the most vibrant flavor among the three. The noodles are delicious (not too soggy or crispy) and just has the most delectable flavor. The seafood okonomiyaki is rich in ingredients. It's perfect for any seafood lover and has a fresher and lighter taste than the others. The pork okonomiyaki was actually my favorite. It is topped with bacon and just tastes like heaven. Finally, all this taste better with beer so don't forget to add that to your dining experience :) Last, the chefs and store owner are incredibly nice. The restaurant manager speaks English quite well. I highly recommend this place for okonomiyaki. Just beware, no where else will taste as good.

Yelp
Delicious okonomiyaki in this hidden gem! My dear mother agreed to go on this Yelp trek with me because I saw the great reviews for this place and told her we had to go. With my Yelp pictures, we walked around the building, then the basement trying to find this place, when my mom finally spotted the familiar lantern from the picture. This is an extremely small restaurant with about 4 x 4 tops and a bar. We arrived at 8 and luckily there was only a short 10 minute wait, but it is really hot in there because the space is small and the cook tops are all on. The service was great because everyone was very friendly. The servers could speak a little bit of English and mandarin, which worked out for me because I can also speak a little bit of mandarin and English. The only down side is that I could not be 100% about what I was ordering because of the language barrier and their menu is in Japanese. I again, used pictures from my handy yelp app to guide my ordering and could only hope that I was getting what was pictured. I also found the sauce to be on the salty side. I love sauce, so it may be my fault for putting all the extra sauce without tasting it first ,so I ended up with a very salty meal. Nonetheless, I think this was a great authentic Japanese experience and is a hidden gem for a cheap bite!

Taylor Z.

Yelp
The best okonomiyaki I've ever had! They only allow you to order one per person but wasn't bad and was decently full after. They didn't have an English menu but my favorites we're the pork and udon one. Udon one was surprisingly super good! My favorite out of them all. You should try to go with some more people together get some variety (I went with 4 and we split). The wait is a bit long but I think it's well worth it.

Yelp
5 min walk from our hotel in Westin Osaka. Kiji is located at the basement of the umeda sky building. Not too difficult to locate. We went at around 1130am and there was already a line. The restaurant itself is pretty small and there is one chef who speaks a little English so he was able to translate the menu for us. The okonomiyaki itself was excellent. Not too much flour, fluffy, and excellent sauce. The yaki soba was great as well. Noodles were well cooked and not too oily. I preferred the yaki soba to the okonomiyaki. Will definitely return again! The main chef even spoke to us in a little English and thanked us for coming. Excellent service and food.

Yelp
*** 3,200th review *** After walking for what seemed to be a long time in the summer heat, we finally came upon the Sky Building, found our way to the basement - and then were terribly lost. How do we get to this famed okonomiyaki? Thank goodness for photos on Yelp - and a very nice woman who walked us to the other side of the basement food area to the renowned Kiji. Immediately the guy behind the grill made us feel at home. He explained in broken but just enough English about what to order. We opted for the traditional egg with cabbage and squid at first (traditional Osakan!), and as we watched other patrons' orders being made, we then got the egg and noodle with pork. Both were scrumptious and absolutely delightful. I liked their balance between being friendly and welcoming, knowing we were tourists who found their restaurant, but also being authentic and purposeful in their actions. Kiji was definitely one of our most memorable and fun meal experiences in Japan. Definitely make the trek and come hungry.

Ansel C.

Yelp
The store is in the 瀧見小路, which is not found easily. The attendant of きじ木地大阪燒 are so friendly, and they speak a little bit Chinese like thank you. お好み焼 was so delicious, a really Japanese taste.

Enya L.

Yelp
We went at prime dinner time (7pm on a Saturday) and waited for a good 1.5 hrs. Despite the wait, I would go back! The okonomiyaki was so delicious!!! First off, the staff are ridiculously cute and friendly. They apologize for the wait (a few times). People would try to go up close to take pictures of the grill. While a lot of places in Japan hate that, the head chef welcomed it. He would laugh and make faces. He invited people in the Restaurant to take photos with him at the grill. I was sitting closest to the bar when we were waiting so he would hand me their phone to take photos. It created such a welcoming and cozy environment. I barely noticed that last half hour wait because I was just laughing and enjoying the scene. They don't have an English menu so we went with the waiter's suggestion of one pork, one pork & seafood, and one original noodles. It was a great variety. Kiji threw in a free egg & potatoes dish that was simple yet delicious for his head photographers haha. You would think you would get tired of three similar dishes. However, each were delicious and had a different spunk to it. It was fluffy, flavorful, delicious brown and crispy on the bottom, and super cheap! I would definitely suggest coming here!

Ayumi S.

Yelp
Not bad. Super nice staff, quick with their okonomiyaki making, and flavors were great! A slight wait, but nothing too crazy. Small and compact..and we were lucky enough to sit at the bar area. We got yakisoba and pork okonomiyaki.

Phillip L.

Yelp
Okonomiyaki Kiji is located in the basement floor of the Umeda Sky Building where most of the other restaurants are located as well. For those that don't know, Okonomiyaki is a savory egg based panacake that has a variety of ingredients and sauces. I came here with my family around 2:00pm and there was short line out the door - we got seated at 2:45pm. From what I can tell, it was the only restaurant where there was a line. While this could be due to the extremely limiting seating (7 bar seats and 4 tables each seating up to 4 people), the food more than qualified Kiji for a line. While the menu is only in Japanese, the chef will recommend you what is popular. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - Food is cheap, we got 3 dishes for 2600 ($26) - Food is of high caliber, very tasty & flavorful. - A unique experience. The chef first cooks the dish. After the dish is placed on a hot grill in front of you for consumption. I'm guessing it's so your food does not get cold. - Service: Everyone here is super nice and polite. Some waiters also speak Chinese and a small amount of English if you need help with ordering. Cons: - While everything was good, the dishes all had the same sauce (hoisin) and texture. Could not really tell the difference between a beef okonomiyaki, a mixed okonomiyaki, and a stir fried noodle dish. That being said, they were all good. - Lines: Not long but slow moving. Definitely give this place a shot if your visiting the Umeda Sky Building. You won't regret it. Coming here earlier or later in the afternoon will help avoid the lines!

Yelp
Yes, there was a lot of tourists here. That doesn't automatically make it bad/average. I saw a lot of locals too (was on a Sunday early afternoon). You have to just judge the food alone. The okonomiyaki was pretty good Not mind blowing, tbh. It is different than other places. They cook it firmer here. And they don't go crazy with the sauce/mayo like other places I have had in Japan. This is a small shop, so they don't cook it at your table. The griddle at the table is just to keep the food warm. They cook it at the main griddle in the kitchen in front of the booths. Now the yakisoba, man. This stuff was great. The quality of the noodle was outstanding. Not greasy, firm vegetables. The little crispy from the griddle. Get the yakisoba! The prices are a bit high I guess? 35 bucks for 2 okonomiyakis, 1 yakisoba and 2 beers. The wait is long, be warned. The customer service was outstanding. The owner was there, he is a cool dude. Embraces the foreigners patronizing his establishment. Good business. Would I come back? idk, long wait and the price. Probably not. Maybe for the yakisoba because it was so damn good. I say go at least once though, if you have the time.

Yelp
Instagram tourist trap. Don't get me wrong - the experience was sweet and wholesome, but the food didn't really blow my mind for the price and flavor. We ordered the udon and seafood varieties along with plum wine mixed with sparkling water. Ironically seems this is a very social media driven kind of place literally everyone ordered the same thing in our batch of guests. The restaurant is tiny, has lot of tourist memorabilia and staff speaks english and mandarin. We, along with a pair of folks from Indonesia, were the only non chinese guests at the time of the visit (maybe 20-25 people total?). There were no locals attending. Our total was around 2800 yen for 2 people was far more than 400 yen okonomiyaki that previous reviews are raving about. I enjoyed, the seafood variety. I really did not like the udon one however. I honestly felt like I was consuming empty calories, but of course being in Japan, it's very rude to not finish your food. The flavor and fillings weren't quite there. What I did like and respect was that it wasn't slathered in mayo like the okonomiyaki that we've had stateside is. Plum wine with sparkling water was enjoyable. Basically tasted like a boozy LaCroix. My verdict - skip if you have to make the trek to come here. You can definitely find something far more authentic elsewhere. Don't get me wrong - the experience was great, but it's all tourists and the prices are insane for what you get. Not for me, but could be great for you.

Yelp
I went to about 6 pm on weekday(Wed). I was expecting a long line of people but we were lucky! I ordered Butatama(pork okonomiyaki) and Modan-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodle). Butatama was very nice. I really like the flavor of Shiso which is not so common to put in Okonomiyaki. Probably the best Osaka Okonomiyaki i had. ( I'm from Kobe so I'm used to eat Kobe style) I'll be back again here for Butatama. On the other hand, Modan-yaki was okay. If you have had Modan-yaki at other place, this one won't be something you had before. It was kind of like omlet..ish....... I would recommend Yakisoba instead of Modan-yaki. Overall i had great experience and i want to try Yakisoba next! ====================================================================== Menu Translation(Except for the ones i dont know what's in it)I hope this helps you to order. 豚玉 (Butatama) Pork Okonomiyaki Recommended イカ玉 (Ikatama)Squid Okonomiyaki Recommended すじ焼き (Suji-yaki)Beef Tendon Okonomiyaki ミックス焼き(Mix-yaki) Mix Okonomiyaki ポテトコーン(Potato Corn)Potatoes and corns 豚じゃが (Buta-jaga)Pork&Potatoes 豚もやし (Buta-moyashi)Pork&Bean sprouts とり玉(Toritama) Chicken モダン焼き (Modan-yaki)Okonomiyaki with noodle(Pork and squid)Recommended やきそば Yaki-soba Recommended 焼きうどん Yaki-udon もやしそば (Moyashi-soba)Yaki-soba with bean sprouts 生ビール Beer on tap ハイボール Whisky with soda(Highball) 梅ボール Plum wine with soda アセロラ Acerola Shochu highball ライム Lime Shochu highball レモン Lemon Shochu highball ウーロン茶 Oolong tea ジンジャーエール Ginger ale ペプシコーラ Pepsi

Yelp
Took a bullet train from Kyoto to Osaka to try this place out. Not gonna lie, this place was a bit difficult to find inside the basement of the Umeda Sky Building, we went in circles a couple of times. LOL. The restaurant name is in Japanese so we walked passed it numerous times without realizing that was the place [face palm insert]. We eventually found the place because the building security took us there. Haha. Okonomiyaki is a good size restaurant with both table & counter seats. We got there early so the wait was only a 5 minutes. The waiters spoke very little English so make sure you know what to order or you can trust his recommendations. We got the seafood and a mixed of soba noodles & pork (half & half) and both were soooooo delicious. It was quite an experience watching them prepare and cook it, that's why I love sitting at the counter...action packed guaranteed! I am both a seafood and noodles lover so it's a really difficult choice to pick a fav out of the 2. The portion was just right and my husband and I finished both without feeling stuffed, it was a great way to start our day. The chefs are very gracious with us taking pictures/videos while they cook, the service was superb! It was definitely worth that 30 minute bullet train ride from Kyoto =D

Bernadette D.

Yelp
They specialize in 1 thing alone...okonomiyaki of different kinds. There was no English menu and we relied on our server to suggest. He suggested 1 beef, 1 seafood, 1 pork and 1 noodles. The 4 pieces were enough for the 5 of us. It took a whole to find this place as it was inside the Umeda Building's B2 floor that was like a maze.

Sebastian K.

Yelp
This is one of the best experiences I've done here in Oaska. It was quite a trek from my hotel at the St Regis but well worth it. My recommendation is to try both soba noodles with octopus and pork.

Mariam E.

Yelp
Love the food here .The owner suggested to do noodles, beef,as well as a pork & did not disappoint.. Small space,w lots of good pics on the walls to views..Prices are fair as well .Highly recommend

Yelp
Cuisine: 6 Service: 6 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 Hidden in a maze of small shops, within an underground labyrinth that was created to appear as a quint japanese town back in the days, is the famous okonomiyaki restaurant Kiji. It may be a slight bit hard to find, but I am glad we found one of the most cherished okonomiyaki vendors in all of Osaka, where this tasty contraption was invented. The restaurant had a cute decor with lots of pinned up artwork on napkins as the backdrop. The tables have a flat-top grill for you to keep the okonomiyaki warm. Only at the bar do they cook it in front of you. There were quite a few choices, but we tool the recommendation of the waitress and ordered their three most popular choices - yakisoba, pork, and squid. The three of us all agreed that the yakisoba one was the best, followed by the pork, and lastly the squid. However, I was never a huge okonomiyaki fan, and the versions here did not convert me either. If you gotta try this Osaka creation, I think this restaurant will give you a decent example. If you have limited meals and don't have the itch, then go elsewhere for other great local delicacies.

Sunmin L.

Yelp
Superb okonomiyaki place in the basement of the umeda sky building. Our party of 5 (3 men and 2 women) ordered 4 okonomiyakis (pork, beef, seafood mix, and modern yaki which includes noodles) with beer and found that to be plenty. As others mentioned, the menu is only available in Japanese but just ask for the recommendation (osusume) and they will help you out. The seating is also very limited - my friends and I arrived at 5PM and had to wait 30-45 minutes just to be seated. Similar to other Japanese places though, they take your order before you sit so the wait for the food wasn't too long after being seated.

Alycia U.

Yelp
Kiji served best okonomiyaki. We ordered okonomiyaki and yakisoba (just following the waiter recommendation) since the menu is in japanese only. I prefer the okonomiyaki, but my husband loved the yakisoba. Taste very savory, will come for more.

Yelp
Over the top service, great okonomiyaki and Yakisoba. 1920¥ with a beer. What else? Perfect.

Yelp
Greaaaat food and reasonable price, I went in before the normal dinner hours so the wait wasn't bad. After finishing my food, I asked the waitress' help for a photoshoot (what I meant was to have a photo with the restaurant as background), she actually invited me to go behind the counter and took a photo together with the chefs! Def one of the highlights in my Kansai trip :)

Yelp
This little shop is frequented by the locals so you know it's that good! Per my local friends recommendation, two of the most popular items on the menu are: ミックス焼 (Mixed grill) - seafood, bacon, veggies, etc モダン焼き (Modern Grill) - the one with noodles Delicious!!!

Yelp
Yes, that's right. Kiji serves the best okonomiyaki and yaki soba in the area. The ingredients and base/mix are fresh and you'll be able to grill them right in front of you. If you need help, the staff is nice and can help you out. Kiji is a small restaurant located in the basement of the Umeda Sky Building, northwest of Osaka Station. Make sure to stop by.

Yelp
Amazing okonomiyaki at the basement of the Umeda Sky Building. I went with a friend for a late lunch so we avoided the crowd. The owner was friendly and funny -- as he was explaining the ingredients, he joked and called the salt "cocaine" haha. The chef said he would prepare something special for us, but it was a Friday during lent so we couldn't eat meat, and he gladly accommodated as he was going to give us something with pork. Still extremely delicious, though! Also, a benefit of having no crowd was that the owner was really eager to take pictures with us (he actually offered) -- he has some funny poses. Great food, great customer service. I'd gladly come back here again in Osaka.

Yelp
Tiny place, maybe be seated 10 people top. Long lines but great foods. Keep up the good work guys.

Yelp
Came here on May 13, 2017 Such a hidden gem, I heard about this place from Erwan Heussaff's video on Osaka and it was quite difficult to locate without some local help since the google maps location is not that helpful. Its actually located in the basement of the Umeda Sky Building I shared a seafood, beef, chicken and pork (belly) okonomiyaki with 3 other people and it was amazing. Each bite was a symphony of flavours and textures. The pancakes were perfectly cooked with just enough okonomiyaki sauce and mayo. Be prepared to wait outside the restaurant though, the restaurant sits around 14 people and I had a party of 6 so we had to split into a group of 4 and 2 after a 40 min wait. The owner/manager didn't speak English that well however understood Mandarin. Nevertheless he was able to help us order since they only have Japanese menus and we were illiterate in Japanese. The 4 pancakes costed around 3200 yen.

Yelp
Yeah, it's pretty much as everyone says - a great place. To find, you head through the garden from the Westin Osaka, or take the steps curving down from the base of the Umeda. Enter the underground mall area, and make a left. It's tucked in the first side alley - but you'll see the line of people anyway. I went at 8pm on a Sunday night and it was still at least a 30 minute wait, so be prepared. As for the food, well, it's okonomiyaki and it's amazing. The menu has no English (and I didn't see a credit card machine, FYI), but the service was very friendly and the chef helped me with some brief English phrases and suggestions. And yes, they took preorders so that when you entered (it happened in waves, like they'd clear half the tables at once), there would be no delay on your food being made. Good beer, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, authentic food made right in front of your eyes. I'll be going back again before I go.

Yelp
Friendly staff. I was recommended to come here by a friend of mine that visited. We got one octopus and one ham okonomiyaki. both were really good. I wish they used more octopus but outside of that, it was an enjoyable lunch.

Yelp
Small and cozy with a ton of character. The menus aren't in English but the staff was super kind and recommended 2 things for us (pork and seafood) and both were amazing

Yelp
I was extremely happy to see a short line when we showed up. It's a small place but worth every minute, the food was splendid. Watching the chefs prepare the dinner was like watching an artist one brush stroke at a time. Our order was taken while in line and started once we sat down. We don't speak Japanese but they were very kind. This is a must go.

Yelp
What a great experience for my first Okonomiyaki in Osaka! It was well worth the hour wait. The service is fast but not rushed. The restaurant itself is small but, incredibly, not cramped. The food is nothing short of amazing. If you're not sure which way to go, ask for a recommendation and you won't be sorry.

Yelp
We were intriguing to visit this place since Yelp had a great review. There were a tons of foreigners and the place was busy. Okonomiyaki was good, but not really special. I had better.... We also went to other places by following Yelp, it was kind of same deal. Sooo.... I suggest try finding better way to find good restaurant like asking natives in the area you are in. That is what we did after our experience and turned to be better food!!

Yelp
Extremely good for the price. The food is amazing and buying a bottle of their sauce is a must. I recommend their seafood okonimiyaki. In addition the service is great and the owner is very friendly.

Yelp
Incredible flavors and incredibly gracious service. The owner was so inviting and warm, thanked us for coming all the way from U.S. He also thanked us on behalf the people of Japan for the assistance that our government provided the country after the earthquake/tsunami. Beautiful country, amazing food and delightful people. Thank you for the gift of delicious food, bringing people and cultures together.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It's small and often a wait but soo good!! My favorites were the seafood and pork and the noodles based pancake. My only regret was not ordering enough. The waiter basically ordered for us and only suggested 3 pancakes between the 4 of us. They are large but so good that we inhaled them all and were still wanting more. The owner was also very friendly to foreigners and wrote a personal message in Japanese to both my sons. He didn't say what one of the messages said and we have yet to have it translated...

Yelp
Taking its cue from winding branches and dainty leaves, PANDORA's intricate band ring is hand-finished from sterling silver. Punctuated www.pandorabalckfriday.com with shimmering cubic zirconia stones, the openwork design lends a feeling of ethereal beauty to any look.

Yelp
In the basement of the Umeda Sky building. Best Okonomiyaki in Osaka! The owner and chef is the nicest person in Osaka and pehaps the best chef! He has been doing it for 45 years and only moved locations once when the building was moved. Best food I had in Japan.

Yelp
Deep in the belly of the beast lays the true gem of Umeda Sky Building, Kiji Okonomiyaki. I was fortunate enough to arrive third in line, but still ended up waiting almost an hour - an hour completely worth waiting. I recommend getting 1.5 okonomiyakis per person if you want to be full. Price range is decent but don't expect it to be cheap. You get what you pay for: the best okonomiyaki in Osaka.
