I would have given 5 stars on food. I'm just not a brick oven pizza lover. Had a pepperoni and their scratch bread. Was pretty amazing. Pretty cool place 😎. They have plenty of seating. A small Bar area you can dine and drink at. some cool decorations also. They are definitely worth checking out if you haven't been before. Great job Old Scratch crew.

From the moment we walked through the door & were greeted by the delightful gal behind the order counter we knew we were going to enjoy this place! They have lots of delicious etas to choose from! We couldn’t decide to we ordered 2 pizzas to share & both were awesome! Their beer selection is also vast & good!

Old Scratch is a destination restaurant just outside of downtown Dayton that has some of the best pizza you'll find not just in Dayton, but the whole country! Don't take my word for it, Google "Dave Portnoy old scratch pizza". Awesome indoor/outdoor seating too. Kid friendly! Parking is tight but, the experience is worth it💪

Simple things done right could be the best description of this place. There's a lot of pizza Innovation going on, but it's all delicious. You can find yourself enjoying flavors you hadn't expected combined for great flavors. Certainly there are some different pizza styles, but if you're a traditionalist Old Scratch Pizza has everything you need as well. It's the little things they get right, the ingredients ratio, the way they add items to the pie, and it's all done in a comfortable and inviting place. I can also vouch for the delivery experience, as I have doordash this restaurant numerous times and never had a single issue. They actually make an effort to get your food to you in good condition, which I appreciate a great deal. Old Scratch Pizza is a winner and you can't go wrong with this place.

Pizza was cool sangria wasnt strong this place is pretty much self serve. You have to stand in line to order your own food and drinks. Then stand in a bar line if u want alcohol. Food pay is seperate from alcohol pay. Very loud atmosphere from kids. 6 out of 10

Decided to try this place while we were in the area. Wow.. the pizza is amazing, especially if you like thin crust, the employees are so nice and helpful and it’s a really cool place. We will definitely be back!

Fresh ingredients and a pizza that leaves room for ice cream for dessert! We moved here a few years ago and Old Scratch quickly became our favorite Friday evening haunt. The staff is always friendly and the service is quick. Also, that cauliflower appetizer is delicious!

This was our first time at Old scratch pizza as we're staying for few days at Dayton and trying new places. This place seems to be packed and good with family and friends. They make cute Mickey Mouse shape pizza for kids which is really cute. I personally love their margarita pizza. It is a casual place. Service is good.

What a neat place. The environment is game day focused but with serious pizza. The pizzas are reasonably priced for the size and toppings. I would call this a crust focused pie. I'm used to the focus being the pizza toppings so I consumed twice the amount of slices I usually would. So no guilt ordering your own pie.

BEST PIZZA IN THE AREA!! Went here on a Friday night for dinner with a couple buddies. Once we entered, the line then had to start forming outside. It took a significant amount of time to finally order and get a table. You can get a beer while you wait in line. I would recommend ordering beforehand and picking it up. We tried the Pep Rally, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and Mr. Scratch. It didn't take long for our pizzas to come out. Due to being very hungry and the pizzas looking really good, for the first time, the phone did not eat first. The pizza was thin and did have a crispy underside. The pizza was very soft but still had a great taste. The Pep Rally was must try. It had a very complimentary sweet taste to an extremely mild spiciness. My buddies enjoyed the pizza so much much that they came back a few days later and introduced it to more buddies. Overall, I will keep coming back when in the area.

Hands down the best pizza in Ohio that I've had. I eat here quite a bit and haven't updated my review in about a year. Old Scratch is awesome! Great beer, great wine, great service and of course great pizza! Everything about this place is perfection!! I absolutely love Old Scratch pizza and will keep coming back over and over!!

Love the changes this establishment has made since opening. Their cauliflower appetizer has always been a favorite, but new additions to the menu were great also. Got the hummus platter and loved the flavor of everything. Still not as many topping options as I would hope, but I appreciate the quality of quantity approach. Gluten free crust is some of the best I've ever had and I love that they cook it at a different rate than regular crusts, when I go other places it will be burnt to a crisp. Outdoor seating area is cozy and inside are many more long family style tables. Service is friendly enough, not much interaction needed but they will come take trash if needed.

Great pizzas. Thin crust minimal toppings and fun flavors. Got the Angry Bees pizza. Garlic bread was good too. Good list of beers. Had an Ohio raspberry beer, delicious

Good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. Nice patio area as well. Cool wood-fired pizza ovens and open kitchen concept. Checked it out after visiting the National Park Service historic aviation district. Ample parking in the parking lot.

What's not to love about old scratch pizza?! I love to go to the Patterson restaurant as it's OG and the ambiance is pleasing. I've eaten at the tables, outside, and I have also eaten at the bar and all three places are great. The only negative is sometimes it can get very loud when it's busy. The service is outstanding I like how you order when you first walk in and then take a seat and I like how the drink order is separate at the bar. As far as the food, I love the variety and especially having vegan choices. Your pizza is phenomenal. Your salads are delish. Your veggie wrap is awesome. Keep up the great work

Found this gem by pure luck, and I'm so glad I did. I was so hungry, I ordered online and drove straight there even though it said it would be about 25min, I arrived and talked to an employee who told me to take a seat and my order would be brought to me in a few mins. It was about 10mins earlier than estimated! I ordered an Angry Beekeeper pizza and it was so good! The balance of the spicy salami with the hot honey, the perfectly charred neapolitan style crust, the fresh mozzarella, it was just fantastic! I'll definitely go back next time i'm in town!

5/6th time here overall great pizza! Crust is amazing, brick oven is delicious, well cooked not burnt. Service is quick and efficient, and ambiance of the area is always a solid place to chill, have a drink, or just eat pizza and be alone. 100% recommend 10/10

Went here for a group event and they had a separate room we used which was really nice as an option. The pizza was good and they had a number of drink options. The salads cane with a lot of dressing already mixed in. If you prefer lighter dressing, might want to ask for it on the side. They had a little of vegan pizza options and gluten free crust if those things are of interest to you.

Definitely could have used about another 30 seconds or so of cook time to char up and cook through. A bit too doughy for my liking, so it's just not what I was hoping for.

Environment is great really welcoming. Food is astounding! Try the pizza with basil huge game changer! Service was great. Bathrooms clean. Little to no smell. Great place great environment.

Old Scratch is a casual pizza joint with a small menu and friendly, fast service. Their pizzas are thin crust with robust, flavorful sauces and fresh mozzarella. We ordered the prosciutto arugula pizza and the Mr. Scratch pizza with Italian sausage and basil. The arugula was lightly dressed in olive oil and Parmesan cheese which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, this is solid pizza place that we would visit for lunch on a weekday again.

When they first opened I was very much against the ordering and seating set up. Community tables are not my favorite concept, considering a lot of people aren't that friendly or welcoming. I also don't like that you stand in line to order as soon as you get there, then you have to wait around for a table to open. Luckily it hasn't been that busy the last few times my friends have dragged me there so seating hasn't been as much of an issue as it used to be when they first opened. The food is good. I like the cauliflower appetizer, and some of the pizzas I've tried. And I like the style of pizza much better than thick crusts or other heavier doughs. The service is fine. They just drop off your food. You get your own drinks either at the bar or the soft drink machine. Overall it's a decent joint. Not my favorite and I think a bit overhyped, but still enjoyable when friends and family want to go.

We have great memories here from their first opening!! We love the flavor of the dough/wood-fired touches.... And the vegan options are delicious!!

Easily some of the best pizza I've ever had. We had the deluxe and the pepperoni as well as the margarita and all three were delicious pizzas. The side ceasar salad was incredibly good and so was the cauliflower. WOW. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon following a visit to the US national air force museum. It was super busy but we found room for four of us in a few minutes. We'd make the trek over to Dayton again to get some of this pizza. God it was good.

Great atmosphere, it was very busy so I knew it had to be good! It didn't take that long to get our food and it was delish!! My drink (in the first pic) the honey berry lemonade was great as well!

if you EVER have to decide "hey family do we want the out or eat in?" you need to EAT IN! fresh. hot. delicious! won't do take out again. also, the old scratch fashioned is a winner. two Luxarrdo in the drink!

While visiting in the area, the nieces and nephews chose to go to old scratch. I didn't care for the pizza so much as the others did. To me, all I could taste was charcoal. Not exactly what I want my pizza to taste like. Would I eat here again? Probably not, but we did have a great time.

Was introduced to Old Scratch Pizza by a colleague at work. That was 4 years ago and each visit has been great. The way their food is prepared and cooked bring a taste that is fantastic every time and that is mirrored by their great service. We visited in January 2024. They did not disappoint! Thank you

Was in from out of town, just waned a quick bite. This place was spot on. Decent beer selection and pizza was very on point. Service was good bit of confusion on my order at the bar but notion to worry about. It's a fun and lively place. The noise level was still good for conversations.

Been hearing about this pizza, and finally got to try. It is close to UD Arena and we met family here before game. Food was plentiful, and not too expensive. You order, pay, and then they bring it out to your table. Here's the rundown: Full House Salad - $15 but easily fed 4 or 5 of us. And it was great! Margherita Pizza - $12.70 and one was plenty for 5 or 6 of us to have a slice. Angry Beekeeper Pizza - $14.70 and loved the hone on this! Deluxe Pizza - $15.70 and was delux Vegetable Special - $11 and this just puzzled me. I originally thought it was pizza, but was grilled vegetables. Mostly leafy lettuce, and the advertised cabbage was no where to be found. Would not do this again. Beer and wine are available for purchase as well, and it was comfortable to bring the young ones here. Good pizza...but not my favorite. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again.

Best vegan pizza I have ever had! I have a chronic disease that keeps me from eating certain chemicals along with all dairy. The service was awesome! I asked to see the ingredients for the cheeses used and they let me see the bag of cheese and it's nutritional/ingredient info! Anyways, back the the food: The pizza was beautifully cooked with amazing leoparding on the crust! The sauce and vegan cheese came together perfectly to form a consistent but complex flavor! The vibe in here is amazing! There are long tables with benches and 4 person tables with metal chairs. The lighting is smooth and chill, which I enjoy. Overall a 10/10 pizza place that I can highly recommend!

Very great pizza here. I was in town for a state track meet and was not disappointed to find this place. Very good food and would eat there again if I was in Dayton!

My wife and I sat at the bar, great service and conversation from the bartender. Wide selection of beers, including local crafts, and a decent selection of IPAs. Pizza is as great advertised, 7.8 on the Portnoy scale. Good all around vibe, you can see them making the pizzas in the woodfired ovens.

Individual sized, Neopolitan style pizzas? Count me in! We enjoyed our experience at Old Scratch from essentially the moment we parked. Approaching the building, you will notice a large mural with the logo, and an adjacent outdoor patio. It was pretty crowded when we went on a Friday night, and the line was almost out the door. When we got inside, I was impressed with the size of the interior as well as the layout and decor. As we approached the ordering counter, there was an employee directing us to which tables were available to sit at after we ordered. You order food at the counter and are given a number to put on the table. If you want adult beverages, those are ordered at a separate counter to help with flow. It took about 20 minutes for the pizzas to be ready after ordering. They also have appetizers, salads and a few a sandwiches, but we opted to stick with pizza since that's the reason we came. We wanted both a 'red' and 'white' pizza so we chose the Angry Bee and Chicken Bacon Ranch. The Angry Bee has a base of tomato sauce topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, spicy salami and 'house-made' hot honey. The Chicken Bacon Ranch was as expected with white sauce (ranch) base, topped with chicken sausage, applewood-smoked bacon and red onions. Both were pretty good, but I wish they were cooked a bit more -- the crust wasn't as crisp as I had hoped. Not unexpected though, as they are so busy they probably try to crank out the pizza's as quick as possible! I will also mention that the hot honey really wasn't hot at all -- even with added red pepper flakes I was disappointed with the heat level. We did enjoy both pizzas though and were able to take a few slices home for leftovers. Overall, we really liked the atmosphere and the pizza was decent -- but next time would definitely order it extra crisp or the like to get that extra crunch on the crust! The pizza is a solid 4/5 but the staff and environment has me bumping this review to 5 stars!

Pizza is one of our go-to foods and comfort foods. We especially like wood fired pizza. Old Scratch was a nice surprise. Very welcoming atmosphere and lots to choose from on the menu. We ordered a Deluxe (pictured) and a Mr. Scratch and both were delicious. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Everything was great. You go to the counter and order your food, they give you a table number and bring it to you. All pizzas are 12", although they apparently have a 9" for lunch. Very competitive prices. Highly recommend.

Super friendly staff and amazing pizza! I love how they even have the kitchen open so you can see the cool line of prep and cooks at work! They were like a well oiled assembly line, nobody missed a beat! We had the supreme pizza, yuuummm and I even tried the Ranch Water drink instead of the holiday drink...not so yum. Would love to come back if we're ever in the area!

Decent pizza. Ambiance is a bit of a romper room with kids running around. Dirty tables everywhere. And if you haven't been there before, don't expect anyone to explain how things work.....

Decent beer menu, quick service and good pizza. My only wish is that the pizzas were more customizable. I like the open restaurant concept and that you can see into the kitchen and watch the pizza be cooked in the wood fire ovens. The kids love the Elliot (Cheese pizza), Dayton (Pepperoni) and sitting at the picnic tables. Good place to take the wife and kids.

Old Scratch always serves delicious pizza! Old Scratch and Angry Bee Keeper are our favorites. They also have good craft / beer selection. The staff are efficient and friendly. We visit most Fridays
