7 New Things To Do & Eat In Chicago This Week - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Speaking of dancing, boxing is like a dance. No? Well anyway, Old Town Pour House is hosting a free viewing of the Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul fight on June 6th. They’ll start showing the event at 7pm, though the actual fight will be happening around 11pm. Seating is first-come-first-served." - adrian kane

The 14 Essential LGBTQ Bars in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Amidst the strobe lights and the thumping baselines of Boystown lies this unpretentious dive bar. With a killer jukebox, a friendly and nonjudgmental atmosphere, and local beers on tap, Town Hall is perfect for a low-key night out. The bar’s sticky floors are probably due to its many Jell-O shots served." - Grace Perry

Long time customer, come in at least once or twice a month. Experience has always been good until this evening, when we were verbally threatened by a very inebriated client. The man was visibly intoxicated when we arrived, yet was served 4+ more shots and/or beers. After he continued to threaten us, we asked to close out and sit outside. The bartender made no mention of the man, who remained inside for another half hour, before stepping out to the patio, again threatening us and another client also dining on the patio. He then returned inside to sit for a while and left with a takeout order, before stepping back out, falling to the ground spilling all his belongings. After he left, we dropped our glasses off inside and the bartender again made no mention of the incident. I am disappointed in the reaction of the staff to this issue. No steps were take to remove the man, or to make sure we were okay. We had to walk between the man and the exit ramp to leave, and were offered no assistance getting around him, once we made it clear we wanted to get away from the man. This is a great bar, and I get that stuff happens, but there’s also a lot of good bars on the street that proactively handle situations like this.

Google
Nice atmosphere, pretty good food, and a super nice server. I recommend this spot! The string lights are fun and the vibe is just overall nice. Highly recommend the artichoke dip but the baked goat cheese was just okay. The crusty breads were the best part.

Google
We stopped in for dinner and drinks before a comedy show. We were pleasantly surprised with the overall atmosphere of the place. We were able to grab two seats at the bar and the bar tender was extremely friendly even though he was serving the entire place. We ordered meals and they were delicious. We struck up conversations with a couple of patrons and watched some basketball. I thought the prices were reasonable and would recommend stopping here.

Google
Wings are freshly made and finger licking delicious. Buffalo Calamari is one of the most highly recommended item on the menu.A Mai Thai strong as should be is another highly recommend drink. Staff members are very welcoming and great service. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Bartender is on point with all the drinks and quick service. Cute little spot that is a must to stop by.

Stopped here on Friday night during our Bar Crawling. Was lucky to find a table on the Busy Old Town Neighborhood Wells St. We ordered Whisky, Mexican Mojito which was okay and the daily special Watermelon Tallboy Beer. We also ordered Pizza Bread which was not good. But chips and guacamole were fresh.

Google
The food and service were VERY good, however, my partner had the vegan based burger but it was served with Sriracha mayo, which is not vegan obviously.

Gave me molded bread for my mini burgers. Didnt make a BIG deal about it as I should of. Server took the food & told me the kitchen would remake it but I kindly declined it. She comp'd it off the bill but then it was attitude after that. Charged us for the rest off our items. I work in the industry & my place definitely would of comp'd the whole $24.43 cents bill with no prob. Customer service & hospitality isn't number 1 for every establishment I see.Thank God me or my friends didnt get sick off the food we did eat or beer we drank!

Google
My favorite neighborhood bar. Very friendly people and the staff is the best. Reasonable prices and the food is pretty good.

Yelp
Nice little pub and grub. Friendly and prompt service. Decent bar food, decent cocktails. Dog friendly. Outside seating. Clean bathrooms. Would return, would recommend.

Yelp
We stopped here when looking to watch a game during March Madness, everywhere else was packed. There was a table w/2 chairs available, but we needed 5. Eventually, we were able to get more chairs, with no help from the staff. We ordered drinks and guacamole & chips and, the appetizer sampler. The food was decent, nothing special. We found it odd that they wouldn't make any cocktails other than a 2 ingredient one (i.e. Jack & Coke, Gin & tonic, etc...) not sure why, too busy? Bartender that wasn't experienced? Odd for sure. Probably won't come back here in the future.

Shanel H.

Yelp
The Bartender with the braids was rude af! Budding in on me and my friend conversation and being hostile. She gave me water down drinks and never cared about the fact I thought they were disgusting. She even was trying to flirt with the person I was with as if we were not there together! Weird.. NO HOSPITALITY
google avatar

Yelp
Bar review only, but we had a great time! Stopped in for a couple of drinks before heading to our dinner reservation a few blocks away. Sat next to a couple of locals and four folks visiting from the east coast. Between conversations with them and the bartenders we had a great time. Good and reasonably priced drinks, lively conversation, and a fun atmosphere. Will definitely stop in again to hang out and need to try some food next time!

Yelp
I was looking for a dive bar for a quick drink. Went in and sat down at the bar. The place was not busy at all, plenty of open seats and tables. The bartender never once greeted me or asked me what I wanted to order. She was far too busy talking to some guy at the bar. She wouldn't even look at me when I looked at her to try and order. Basic customer service is not hard to ask for. If you work in the business of serving customers, you should be greeting people. I waited 10 minutes and left without word. Ridiculous.
google avatar

Emil O.

Yelp
This is a relaxed, unpretentious space. Think of it as your local "Cheers" location. They treat regulars as friends and even know their favorite drinks! Good food selection for a dive bar.
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
I have been to Old Town Pub a handful of times with friends. It's a great local bar with good specials and pretty good bar food. I didn't try the Buffalo chicken wrap (one of my friends had it) but the fries were top notch!! The staff can be a bit rushed, but only if it's a busy weekend night. They have plenty of TVs and have touch tunes with good music playing.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
loved this dive bar for a chill, laid-back night of yummy pub food and beer! i liked the pizza (always a trusty option), but the NACHOS!! probably some of the best nachos i've had in a while. i think what got me was the cheese - it was rich and warm but didn't make the chips soggy (in fact, they were veeery crispy), and the toppings-to-chips ratio was perfect. what we ordered: - buffalo chicken pizza - house nachos - beer hug, stella artois
google avatar

Dalia D.

Yelp
The food here is always always always amazing. Best Moscow mules you'll ever have! I also recommend the jalapeño burger, their seasonal chicken pot pie. They work like family here and everyone is friendly.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
I came here with a friend and sat outside-then inside. While the bar area is small-it is a nice place to have a conversation. Both inside and outside. I want to come back and try the pizza. The staff was laid back, yet attentive and "down-to-earth"plus respectful and professional!
google avatar

Kalynn C.

Yelp
KATE IS IT! Give this babe a raise!!! She was so good to us and gave us the best recommendations and entertained our crazy asses! We ended up staying for more than our expected one drink. (So what if it was 5 drinks) The regulars were easy going people with even more recs (love you Chris and Steve).
google avatar

Lucas N.

Yelp
Great hand job , bad drink. The ambiance is a bit on the crusty side but overall a delightful crowd

Zoe H.

Yelp
Back of house staff is fantastic. Jerardo and Carlos were so kind and made me the most delicious nachos in the world. Props to them because they made my night. They deserve a huge raise.

Yelp
Pretty solid no frills kinda bar. What you would expect from a neighborhood pub, friendly service, cold beer and good food! Pretty spacious on the inside. Good space at the bar and a good number of tables. There's a Juke box, dart board and TVs for entertainment. I enjoy the outdoor front patio. It gives a good view up and down Wells as well as the park across the street. Great for people watching or more importantly dog watching!
google avatar

Carly S.

Yelp
This is a fun spot. I took a Friday off work and we were looking for a casual spot to grab lunch on Wells. Most of the usual spots were closed, so we headed in to Old Town Pub. It was empty, but more people came in by the time we left. We were looking for typical bar food, and that's what it was! I loved the tater tots and the nachos. The wings were ok--the regular sauce ended up being kind of sweet which was weird. The service was great though and it was a fun spot I'll definitely be back to for bar food or a fun night out.
google avatar

Quills M.

Yelp
Finally dropped in after living in the neighborhood for years... beautiful holiday lighting and REAL garlands decorate this cozy bar. Good music, friendly bartender and fun chats with other patrons. But oh my, don't be fooled by the other food pics posted on Yelp... the home made chicken pot pie knocked it outta the park!
google avatar

Devanshi S.

Yelp
Great place to chill and the food is a bonus! This is the only bar in Chicago that has Boulevard beer on tap and it is delicious!! We also tried the fire tots and Mac & cheese pizza. For bar food, it was really good!!! The staff is okay extremely friendly and just the vibes are amazing!
google avatar

Paulina P.

Yelp
Amazing thin crust pizza, and hands down one Chicago's best burgers. I always recommend the Wells Street burger, Margherita Pizza and tacos. The chicken and steak tacos are always delicious! Also do not sleep on the calzones! So delicious! Always great beer on tap and love sitting on their patio! Bonus points for Touch Tunes!

Yelp
Seems like a spot for locals, but it wasn't too bad during the afternoon. A few roust customers (high noise levels) made it kind of annoying and hard to hear. With the all brick walls everything seems to carry. The beer was cheap with $5 bottles, so that's a plus. Didn't order any food.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
The bouncer was drunk and smoking a j. We walk up and he's instantly yelling at us saying "you don't think I actually work here??" And then put his keys in the door to prove to us. Didn't let us in. The most bizarre experience I've ever been through. I can't believe an actual bar would hire this clown. We weren't even drunk and it's instantly making us feel unwelcome. It was absolutely bizarre. I can't rate a bar I can't even get into without being yelled at more than one star. Hire a new bouncer.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
I always pass the sign that says this dive has the best thin crust pizza in town, so I finally went in and immediately became disappointed once the pizza came out. It's a glorified version of Digiorno. Bleh. This is a diveyest of dives when you need to come in for friendly bar service and cheap $5-6 bottles. I won't get the pizza again though.

Yelp
My friends and I came here after work and I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere is totally laid back,it was not crowded at all and our waiter was amazing! My friends and I ordered the Mac n cheese, burger and Greek salad. *Greek salad with chicken amazing! Give great portions and chicken is so tender *Burger. ..also amazing and huge! If you're not a fan of cheese ask for little cheese or no cheese because it is piled on Definitely will come back!

Haley W.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for the first time on April 27th and we had a lovely time. Although my order was put in wrong, Calvin made it right! He even went above and beyond and wrapped my leftovers in tinfoil, as I wouldn't have been able to take a box of food into any other bars. Thank you Calvin! We will be back!!

Zach S.

Yelp
Best coleslaw I've had.. and that's coming from a true Wisconsinite. Blackened chicken wrap and chicken tenders also phenomenal
google avatar

Yale R.

Yelp
Its old and pretty bare bones. If you want a few drinks and no real distractions, Its a solid spot. Dont go here for dates. -Yale Reardon

Hunter J.

Yelp
The woman behind the bar is very rude and disrespectful! I work in the Gold Coast so I visit and support the businesses in the surrounding areas daily this was by far the rudest encounter by far! She not only was rude and disrespectful which cause me to take my business elsewhere! She yelled and tried to fight my guest I was with in front of multiple people because she was angry we left! and a witness even recorded it and provided us the video! Was so embarrassed I brought so one there! It's so unprofessional to cause drama with your customers and attempt to provoke violence.

Yelp
Although I love me some old town pub, it can be a hit or miss. things worth pointing out: Great cheap spot in old town. Most bars in the area are crazy busy all the time. Not that old town pub is empty or anything, but it's always a good middle spot. Most of the time there's a place to sit, drinks are cheap, and it's super convenient. They rarely have enough servers/bartenders though, so don't expect to get drinks fast. They get a tad annoyed when you come to the bar from a table, which is usually fine, but there are times where you've got to do it if you've had one drink and no one cares enough to come ask for another order. Overall though.. great dive-ish bar for a normal night out.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
Convenient and cheaply priced pub with lots of seating. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there were plenty of tables which were safely spaced. Servers and bartenders were very nice and came by often to clean up any empty drinks.
google avatar

Kristin Leigh M.

Yelp
I ordered the blackened chicken wrap. When ordering, I asked, "is there mayo on this?" I was told no. Great! The wrap comes out... and guess what? The sauce that is used on the chicken is MAYO-BASED. Umm, that would have been REALLY helpful to know. I was with work colleagues, and in a hurry, so I managed to eat it.. but really - if it's mayo-based, and I ask if there is mayo... please tell me! Thankfully, I really liked the tater tots, and was able to fill up on those. The Diet Coke, however, didn't taste like proper Diet Coke. Either flat or a non-branded version, not sure. What I did like is that there were ample TVs showing the World Cup matches. The service was super attentive - perhaps a little too attentive - but I'd rather have that than non-existent. I'm still annoyed about the mayo.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Old Town neighborhood staple, good for an after-movie, after-theater, after-Second City beer or drink. That is, if you don't mind semi-pornographic paintings, that trust me- are easily overlooked. I couldn't believe how fresh my Fat Tire and Stella were. I believe this place wins the "Cleanest Tap in the City" award! The jukebox is nothing but jazz, and I mean deep cuts folks! Somebody knows their jazz here. Once a smoke-heavy den of iniquity with characters that seemed to be held over from a meat-packing strike, this neighborhood bar is getting renewed life.

Yelp
After shopping in the neighborhood we ducked in to OTP for some lunch and brews. It was pretty dead when we got there, but people started rolling out of bed by the time we left and the bar had become a popular place. Food is standard pub fare. My wife had the veggie pizza and I passed on the tempting bbq, burger, slider options and went with the jerk chicken. They were both good. I wanted the jerk to have more heat, but it was fine. They also have some pretty decent tap selections here as well. Our beverage of choice was the Rogue Yellow Snow, which we had a few rounds of. I haven't seen this IPA since we were in Oregon. Sadly for Kris, her Irish got their butts kicked along with every other decent team this week. That was much to the liking of our Big Ten waitress.
google avatar

V M.

Yelp
The greeting was horrible. Keep getting stares and not nice at all. Felt really uncomfortable for a new timer the pizza was good but better to go then stay.... wouldn't go again. I would have suggested they treat people the same but guess not. Didn't feel welcomed at all.
google avatar

Erika G.

Yelp
Completely pleasant spot to visit on a Sunday. We took a break from an Epic Walk to have a perfectly made Bloody Mary and hang out for awhile. The bartender was very charming and friendly and let my 7star companion plug in his perpetually drained cell phone to charge. This place looks like it's been here longer than it has. Maybe I was biased by the utterly great day I had yesterday, but this place is really nice, comfortable, and I'd go back.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Bartender was great at recommending the "OTP" calzone, hit the spot. Everyone working had a smile and made it a great experience.
google avatar

Fred F.

Yelp
Just walked out of this gutter. The bartender was a steaming pile of a bad attitude. May as well have poured our drinks in dog bowls and told us to F off. Never going again. Join me in this pact.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Food: 2 Decor: 1 Service: 1 We booked the entire place for 70-80 people for dinner. Put simply, they didn't prepare for us, and most of us spent the majority of our time waiting for pizza to arrive. I had a couple slices, and the pizza was very mediocre.
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
When you're from out of town it's hard to find a good bar. As we were walking through old town we stumbled upon this small pub. We walked in and ordered a drink at the bar. The next thing we know we're engaged in a wonderful conversation with the other bar patrons and the bartender. This bar was super welcoming, and left a great taste in my mouth for the town.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Old Town Pub is located right on Wells street in Old Town, convenient for me since I live down the street. I have been here a few times and its your typical no frills pub. They have great daily specials and a nice al fresco spot to have some drinks/food outside during the warmer months. I particularly like sitting inside and watching tv but both are good. The spinach artichoke dip is unreal...... literally amazing. I also tried the fire tots which were basically the smallest portion of tots topped with nacho cheese sauce and some salsa mixture. It was a pretty small portion for $6 but what can you do. We bought a restaurant.com gift cert while we were there and saved $15 off our total bill, not bad at all. I'll def be back here again.
google avatar

Kaley W.

Yelp
After a night of holiday activities we searched everywhere for a place to grab a bite and a drink with open tables. Old town pub had a table in the back near a large tv so it worked perfectly. We ordered a pitcher of draft beer (great taste and cold) and ordered dinner. I had the stromboli. It was very cheesy and filled with great ingredients. The outside was a bit plain but tasted really good when dipped in the sauce. My boyfriend ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and said it was pretty tasty. The other couple in our group had the pizza. They said it was pretty good but not far above what you'd expect anywhere else in chicago. The place itself was very pub-like (obviously) but could have much better bathrooms. There was a wood slab missing from the bathroom door or what we called... a peephole. Not cool. Other than that it was alright, nothing too fancy by any means but a good place to pop in for a drink and food when no where else is open.

Aaron B.

Yelp
Fire tots were just tater tots covered in pico de gallo. Mixer all's sticks were just frozen stick I could have Cooked in microwave. Good TVs for football, but food is worthless.
google avatar

Annie W.

Yelp
Conveniently located bar that has a slight charm on the inside. I enjoyed their Christmas decorations and twinkle lights. Both times I have been their service was slow. The bar is fairly busy the times I have been there which is a good sign for them. We ordered the Old Town Pub Combo (wings, fried mozzarella, fried mushrooms, and fries) and it wasn't anything special. The platter was mostly fries and a little bit of the rest. I would avoid the women's bathroom if you can.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Here is what I will say - I really enjoy the pizza, and they have Green Line beer, so that is always nice. In the end, though, it is really not a GREAT place. In the summer, they have some outdoor seating, which is nice. What really brings them down is their drinks and their service. I recommend you get the beer (a very small variety on draft) or wine (again, only two options) because they are super skimpy on their mixed drinks. A friend asked for wine to replace her mixed drink, and without prompting the waiter said he saw the bartender put a lot of liquor in it, and that she should just 'slam it.' Friend didn't bring up the weak pour, so it is clear they understand it is an issue, and instead of addressing it they are just encouraging people to chug their drinks so they don't need to comp them.

Erick M.

Yelp
Overall, OTP is our go-to for Thursday nights and a great dive bar to have a couple pitchers of beer. However, we ordered three pizzas last night and immediately regretted it as soon as we took a first bite. The Mac & Cheese pizza was by far the worst pizza I have ever had at any establishment. It was more like a hard cracker with sub-par mac and cheese thrown on top of it. I turned the piece of "pizza" over and all the mac and cheese fell off and all that was left was the cracker crust. No sauce. We had to leave and go somewhere else for pizza because we were still hungry. Go for the beer. Not the food.

William B.

Yelp
These are some of the best hamburgers in the city. They also have great pizza. The weekday lunch crowd is often light so it's a nice quiet environment to talk. Outdoor seating is also great.
google avatar

Amelia B.

Yelp
Not to be confused with Old Town Pour House (chad/trixie) or Old Town Ale House (hippies/hipsters), Old Town Pub is a sleepy little space to go to kick back a few beers and eat some good pub food. I've never seen this place more than 3/4 full, and I prefer it that way. Plenty of TVs, decent beers on tap, and decent food make this the type of place you go to catch up with a friend while wearing sweatpants and no makeup. And no one will judge you for it.
google avatar

Kristin C.

Yelp
Woot! My friend Lee and I stopped by here last night before the Yelp Party at Suite Lounge. I knew I would want something in my stomach before I started Suite-ing it up (Thank God I did because those Princess Martinis had champagne in them. Empty Stomach + Champagne anything = CRAZY Kristin). If I lived in Old Town, I would come here every Tuesday. Not only do they have one of my most favoritest beers, Fat Tire, on special ($3 a pint) but the burgers are 1/2 off. Those burgers are HUGE and delicious. In general: Love. This. Bar. Very friendly bartender. Patrons are laid back. There are booths in the back! Just another reason why I heart Old Town.
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
I made it into this place for a scheduled social networking event. We had a lot of people, yet it was very comfortable. This is a cozy neighborhood bar with friendly, welcoming staff. What more could you ask for? I used to live in the neighborhood - but never made it in. Now this is just one more reason that I'm sad I don't live around there anymore. But I'll definitely stop in when I'm around there - because it is the kind of place where everybody knows your name. Or at least, they treat you like they do. And that is all that counts. Cheers!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
First time here: late on a Sunday afternoon after a long walk; two big Bloody Mary's for $8. Second time here: a few weeks later, also on a Sunday afternoon. Greeted by bartender: "two Bloody Mary's?" On the way out of here the second time: two comped brunches for another Sunday. Oh, it's nothing special in here at all. Dated, and almost dingy. But, there is music from the 70's and 80's that is not too loud, with at least so far, nice people who care about your business, and good prices. My kind of place.
google avatar

Damian C.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. The waitstaff is friendly, and the food takes a little longer than normal to cook, which gives you the chance to actually sit, enjoy some beers (or sodas???) and have a conversation. For a bar, it has quite the selection for your typical "bar food menu". Though we generally stay pretty lame and order a burger or chicken sandwich, their wraps and pizzas look great. I actually saw an Oriental Chicken wrap last night on the menu and I am gonna have to go back to try it. Essentially, it is a great place to get your "grease fix" on! UPDATE: Had the pizza last night and it was amazing! I think it was the margherita basil pizza, but not sure the exact title. Their pizza sauce (which I got on the side) was amazing also.
