If you are looking for authentic, tasty food and great service, go here. Our server Jay was extremely sweet, helpful and a pleasure to be around. Everything was so tasty and there were options for Vegans as well. I modified a salad but it was not a basic salad. They also had a chocolate cake slice that was HUGE. Don’t forget the homemade tortillas! If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. Definitely recommend.

This was our second visit to this fun Mexican restaurant. Old Town Tortilla Factory is located in Old Town Scottsdale's art district. In a historic 75-year old adobe home. We had several dishes, we will add descriptions to the photos. The favorite was the tocos, drinks are nice that they serve with a mixer and that keeps the drink fresh. Nice atmosphere with plenty of room for big parties.

I was in Mesa for work and a co-worker recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint. The roasted jalapeno margarita was delicious (and spicy). The elote was 🔥. I had the Pasta Calabacitas and I wish I could recreate this dish. It was phenomenal. The fresh tortilla with garlic butter was a fun treat. I sat outside (it was 105) because of the vibe. The misting set-up made it quite comfortable. There was a little bird who kept jumping on my table to try and get a snack. It was cute. I cannot wait to return. My server was so nice as well. She's a teacher who went to Mizzou. I can't remember her name, but if management sees this, please reward her.

Google
The food was delicious. We had Sea Bass, Chicken enchiladas and fish tocos! The service was great. Btw the drinks were also excellent. Our favorite dish was the Sea Bass!

Google
Such a nice restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale. The meal started with a plate of freshly made tortillas with butter. The server kept our water glasses filled. The food was delicious.

We came up from Tucson and wanted to take my wife here for dinner and although I had been before we ever met she had never been. The food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was great, we did get there shortly after opening. Then a huge group arrived and it got very loud. The tortillas, were phenomenal we actually took as many home as we could. We would've sat outside but it was just to hot.

Outdoor space is great when weather allows! Neat spot with old traditional ambience. Gluten free menu available with a good variety of food, attached in pics. Tried the red enchiladas, and did not think they had any flavor. They are also very small, and only available in chicken, can't sub other meat. Waiter was very nice and accommodating to help me find a meal I would like and replace it. Guacamole is great and chips are gluten free too. Red chili pork chop had a great presentation and even better flavor.

Google
We made a return trip to this restaurant in Scottsdale! The first time we came it was a weekend and we had a bit of a wait but so worth it! The staff is friendly, always have a smile, and the service is good. They have good portions of food, the drinks are wonderful (and are delivered so colorfully) The outside patio has so much room! There is a beautiful water fountain placed almost central on the patio. At night, there are lights hanging -it says “ambiance”! I would recommend this place to anyone that visits Scottsdale AZ.

Yelp
Maybe the friendliest restaurant I've ever been to. Outdoor patio....tons of twinkle lights. Super charming, and the food was amazing!

Lu S.

Yelp
3rd visit to this place. What the heck happened! I don't like to rail on places, we're all trying to do our best. But with the world being outrageously expensive, every dollar counts. Don't waste yours here. D- marg, C- food. A+ patio, which makes this even a bigger shame.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place with a combination of southern and mexican styles. The ambiance is great - large patio as well as indoor seating. The house mole was excellent; it had familiar components with a special touch as it is made by tge chef. What a difference with those industrial, ready to warm up variantas! Queso fundido with chorizo was a good selection as apetizer although it was slightly different from the mexican based. Excellent service. Would come back here soon.

Yelp
Have driven by this place many times and was intrigued by the outdoor patio. Outside is indeed nice with trees, misters and string lights - and spacious as well. The decor seems outdated with the generic patio furniture. The real problem is here the food. It's just not good. We ordered 4 things and not a single thing was good. Elote street corn, chips and salsa, nachos, and shrimp Diablo. Everything was bland, no flavor, no unique characteristics. Literally store bought would've been better. Never been to a restaurant where every single thing was bad. It was so astonishing we didn't even say anything to the staff but rather paid and left because it would sound ludacris to say we didn't enjoy one single thing! Upon looking at other reviews here this seems to be a common sentiment.

Yelp
The best thing about this restaurant is the cute patio set-up for outdoor dining, the prickly pear margaritas and their salsa & guacamole. Unfortunately the food was just mid for pretty costly meals. The service was friendly, but had to ask a couple times for things that were forgotten. Definitely better choices for a quality meal in Scottsdale.

Yelp
Good local food while in Scottsdale. Started with a spicy Jalapeño Roasted Margarita. The Tiki Hubby and I shared the roasted corn elote, and the meatloaf. Bacon covered with a nice creamy gravy on mashed potatoes and asparagus. Soooo good sat in bar area with great service. We had to get a piece of the chocolate cake moist and rich chocolate covered in whipped cream and strawberries.

Yelp
Had a super fun dinner for 4 here. Tequila lime salad was fantastic! Chips and salsa were very tasty. Loved my quesadilla - added some salsa and yum - and the Oaxaca bowl with shrimp was a hit, too. I had a great frozen margarita and the prickly pear margarita got a big thumbs up. Super nice server as well. Ate outdoors on a lovely spring evening.
google avatar

Yelp
I had high hopes. The only bright spot was the margarita. The chips were store bought. The homemade warm tortillas were bland and the mahi tacos were flavorless. Ugh. Our server was very sweet and attentive. And while the outdoor seating is plentiful, it's dated and in need of some updating.

Yelp
Second southwestern restaurant in Scottsdale with simply average food fare. OUTDOOR SEATING is phenominal. It's a great atmosphere that brings fun casual dining. CHICKEN MOLE is my go-to Mexican food. I ordered the steak and shrimp mole. It had a tiny bit of heat but could have used more. The mole could also have used a little more chocolate richness.

Charles R.

Yelp
Food was horribly bland, some chicken was raw, you had to pay $7 for chips and Salsa.... I don't even understand how a business like this stays open with the hours of operation and the horrible food!

Yelp
Ambience, food and service were all incredible. The owner, Chad, was gracious and greeted us with enthusiasm. The place was packed with groups of all sizes. Never in a million years would I have e tried an avocado margarita but HOLY MOLY was that thing delicious! It's a must try. My hubby had the ribs and said they were fall off the bone delicious. I filled up so much on the queso and guacamole and chips that I could only eat one bite of my shrimp but woke up today looking forward to lunch. Highly recommend this cool vibe spot for pre-gaming before your night out in old town Scottsdale!

Yelp
Took my family for dinner on a Monday evening. The outside seating was beautiful and the waiter was great. However the food was just not good. Not one of our four dishes. Two of us had the taco plate. The corn tortillas were stale and the flour not much better unfortunately. We were so disappointed in the quality. We didn't have margaritas which perhaps would have made everything better.

Yelp
Excellent local spot that was a house turned restaurant. Great outdoor spot during good weather season of fall through spring. I sat at the bar and bartender Rick was mixing drinks not on the menu and was sharing new recipie she was cooking up. He was on a show back in the day that did so. Definitely ask him what he has been experimenting on top of the menu. I ordered flautas and was really crispy but perfect for an appetizer to start. Also came with chips salsa and chipotle tortillas which was new. Main I was full and wanted something smaller and got the green enchiladas. It was a big plate but lots of lettuce and cheese on top so I finished it too. Definitely go there during cooler weather as outdoor patio with lights is great spot in old town.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
Enjoyed the prickly pear margarita. Tortillas were fresh and tasty. Service was a bit slow as they lost our table after we sat down, but once we ordered things went smoothly.
google avatar

Tia T.

Yelp
What an incredible night. Sarah was our server and she was such a sweetheart. We got seated right by the fountain in the outdoor patio. There is a parking lot or street parking. It wasn't sure busy for Saturday night at 8pm. The treasure margarita is on the rocks or frozen. So delicious! I also got the chorizo fundedo. Interesting the queso is white queso with the chorizo, onions, and scallions. Rick, the main guy, the best bartender ever has an avocado margarita not on the menu. He went above and beyond and I thought I was drinking a smoothie on the side of a pool. It was so refreshing. The people here are 5 stars!
google avatar

Jessie B.

Yelp
Yes. The ambience was really cool. The service was good. And the food was pretty good. They do make homemade tortillas. And they have a really nice big patio with heaters.

Yelp
Upon entering Old Town Tortilla Factory the hostess offered indoor or outdoor seating. I happened to mention that I was cold, so we opted for indoor seating. The hostess graciously sat me next to the roaring fireplace. #cozy Old Town Tortilla Factory offers a rich history and beautiful outdoor patio flanked by 100 year old pecan trees offering a variety of seating options. The menu is not your average Mexican food menu, it's quite varied. I opted for my favorite- spicy margarita and this one is unlike any other- (ROASTED JALAPEÑO) and you can definitely taste the deep roasted flavor. We ordered: GRILLED SALMON, Mahi tacos & CARNE DE FUEGO. The food was good although, if I return I would sit on the lovely patio and enjoy their delicious drinks. Our server was fantastic!

Krystal P.

Yelp
The food was bland. The green chili had pretty much no flavor. It seemed like a "tourist trap" restaurant. Service was good.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Our server was fantastic, and the patio is beautiful, but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. Took them forever to seat us for our reservation (party of 6). The platinum margarita was not good. Guam and salsa just ok and chips aren't light and crispy (I'm generally irked when I have to pay for chips & salsa, so the fact that they were mediocre was a real bummer). They got my order wrong twice. Enchiladas just ok. Beans and rice were tasty.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Overall thoughts: the drinks here were good, the service was great, but the food itself was a huge miss! Service was AMAZING! Our server was attentive, approachable, and really sweet! The food was absolutely bland! I had a lot of expectations coming here, but was greatly disappointed by how everything tasted. Several women in the group agreed as well! The only thing I would eat again were the complementary freshly housemade butter spinach tortillas (kind of like their version of table bread).
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
ALL of our food was incredibly cold when it was brought out to us. Our server was great and atleast took off the kids meals, but no one could enjoy our meal with how the food came out and in return tasted. Also, if you have a baby who wears diapers... do not dine here in case they need a diaper change. You will need to go to your car to change them because the woman's restroom does not have a changing table. It was a shame, we were so excited to try some where new for my husbands birthday.
google avatar

Kelly W.

Yelp
Service, food and patio were wonderful. Pork Verde was delicious as was the complimentary tortillas. We had a party of 5 and everyone agreed this was a go back location.

Nancy V.

Yelp
Took my family there for our last night of our vacation (4 adults & 2 children). The patio was so nice and the weather was perfect. When I review a Mexican restaurant I like to review the margaritas too. I would rate them as a 4, they were actually delicious, but pricey. The price on the menu was $1.00 lower than what they actually charged us. As for the food, it was very disappointing. I had the fish tacos, which when they were served to me they were very cold and no flavor. My son had make your own tacos, and he said they were terrible, the worst chicken he has ever had out and the rest of the meat was dry. My grandchildren both had the mac and cheese, which was served 10 minutes after the adult meals and it was microwaved Kraft Mac & Cheese! Awful! Would we go back? Maybe for a margarita, but doubtful because Scottsdale has so many other wonderful options.

Yelp
First Time at the Old Town Tortilla Factory. Party of 13 for a weekday dinner. Cold rainy night so happy that reservations were inside. Many alcoves and niches for seating in this 75 year old converted adobe structure. They have a very large covered patio that looks inviting. Appetizers included chips and salsa with guacamole. We also had a chorizo fundido. Several of us had the Old Town Tacos that included shrimp, chicken and beef. Several had fish tacos. Others had red and green enchiladas. One person had the mole stack, however it was sent back. The service and food were about 3 stars at best. I think the draw here is the ambiance. For me, it was not the Old Town Tacos; however, hard to judge with one entree. The desert menu looks very tempting so may give it another try.
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
Very disappointed! Cold beans and rice, store bought guacamole (not homemade) We had a larger group, got there right at opening and they would not let us sit inside, half of us in the sun. The service was fantastic! I would not return.
google avatar

Manuel G.

Yelp
The greasiest Chili Verde, Green Chili, Pork Chili I have ever eaten. It gave me heart burn and was a disgusting bowl of soup. I was so disappointed. At least the service was good, but that's not why you go to a restaurant. No one ever said, " Hey, you got to try this spot because the server was nice!" The outdoor area was nice but the sound system was as bad as the chili.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
A group of 8 of us came here for dinner. We made the reservation significantly in advance and originally made it for inside because you just never know if it's going to be on the colder side or not. When we arrived, we politely asked if we could be seated outside due to the weather actually being nicer than expected. There were many tables available and the hostess was rude and said the only way we could do it was if we were there for only 90 minutes. Super weird but whatever- essentially that would be pending the timeliness of the service. Other than the rude hostess our server was pretty awesome. Pitcher margaritas were great, appetizers were good and the food was good too although it's not your typical Mexican restaurant food.

Yelp
We were a big group 10+ and food and drinks came out fast. The creamy cheesy rice beneath my shrimp was delicious and I seriously regret not being able to finish it or take it to go. Delicious prickly pear off the menu drinks and fast service! A nice big venue for any occasion.

Lori L.

Yelp
It's been years since I went to the tortilla factory. I ordered the half red, half green chicken enchiladas. My friend ordered a shrimp dish. We both agreed the food was a 3.5. The server was nice and earned his tip... Doubt I will return again as there's so many places to try when in the valley!
google avatar

Tim A.

Yelp
The Tortilla Factory has great food, and you will LOVE the ambiance of the outdoor seating! We had the salsa, guacamole, and chips for starters. The salsa is outstanding! It has a kick to it but it's more than heat, it has a really nice flavor and the homemade tortilla chips are substantial enough to hold your favorite sauces without breaking or being too thick. I got the Old Town tacos, which come with 3 different kinds of meat--steak, chicken, and shrimp. Steak and chicken were both VERY good. The fresh corn tortillas, the rice, and the pico de gallo made for good tacos. Add the green salsa and you've got magic! The day we came (Tuesday night) there was a 1.5 hour wait! This place is worth waiting for. Try it.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
This place is great and can accommodate all your event needs. They have space to host parties large and small (even rehearsal dinners), and have a beautiful patio if you're looking for a night out. The staff is very friendly and helpful when ordering. The food is brought out in a timely manner and has always met expectations. I had the Old Town Tacos which were so juicy and flavor filled! Two orders of red enchiladas and an Oxoaca Bowl were chosen by the rest of the table. Everyone o Lu had good things to say about the food. Tables are spaced nicely and the outdoor lights feel magical!
google avatar

Haley H.

Yelp
Fantastic place to host an event! We had our company holiday party here and greatly enjoyed the service and food. Thank you again to Maria, Tony and Alicia for the hospitality!! We reserved the patio and the back room for the bar/buffet. Overall it was a wonderful experience all around!!
google avatar

Reinhardt H.

Yelp
Fantastico! I love eating on their patio. One of the nicest places to sit and eat in PHX. The trees, the lights, the water, the weather. So pleasant. The food here is great. It's not a hyper-fusion, modernist take on Mexican food or some other weird concoction that some of the Scottsdale Mexican places come up with. Just tasty, good-quality Mexican food. The tortillas are next level. I would come here if all they sold were tortillas. The black bean tortillas with garlic butter - a taste of heaven for sure. We also had a great server last time. Very attentive and friendly but not overly familiar. Professional, knowledgeable and efficient. It's not cheap, but it is reasonable. Value-wise, you get what you pay for here. Parking can be tight, so best to come a bit earlier. Two thumbs up for sure.
google avatar

Cale S.

Yelp
We actually got lost and we couldn't find the restaurant that we wanted to go to so we tried old town tortilla factory. For me, I had to order something with a tortilla if the restaurant is called tortilla factory so I tried the old town tacos. Taste: b. these were a pretty good assortment of tacos that included chicken, shrimp, and pork, but they just didn't pack a punch. I would obviously eat these again, but I would probably go somewhere else for tacos. Parking: It may be better to park a couple blocks away and walk because it's a pretty congested area.
google avatar

Todd S.

Yelp
We had a group of 15. All the food was hot and delicious. Fish Tacos and quesadillas were incredible. There are so many different items to choose from. The staff was friendly and responsive. You will not be disappointed if you choose to eat here.
google avatar

Yuhang L.

Yelp
For the ambiance, it is five stars. For the service, it is five stars. For the entrees, it is three stars. For the creativity of the menu, it is two stars. For the appetizers and starters, it is four stars. For the price point, it is two stars. Hence, I ended up at four stars overall! The location in Old Town Scottsdale (steps away from the Hotel Valley Ho) cannot be beaten. This is a perfect location in the heart of Old Town. When you enter the garden, you feel like you are being transported to a different world. Even in the thick of an Arizona summer, the outdoor misters work well! Of course, it's a perfect excuse to order another margarita or two. (Side note: add draft beer). While the margaritas are photogenic, I just didn't taste much tequila in them. Our server was friendly and efficient, despite having many tables to work himself. He was on top of his game. The entrees were OK but at their prices, we left underwhelmed. The ancho ribs were tender but lacked a memorable flavor. The penne chicken was a huge portion but was oddly flavored and had WAY too much sauce. The tortilla soup was just OK and a bit runny. The starters on the other hand were great. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were so delicious that we ordered two sets. In the end, would I recommend Old Town Tortilla Factory? Yes, but with a caveat. Don't come here for your main meal. Come for some drinks and starters. Get a photo near the fountain in the courtyard. Look at the trees with the lanterns. Post on Instagram. Start your evening here. Then move on. Old Town Tortilla Factory is capable of executing a better menu and I hope they do so in the future. The current menu reeks of being a tourist trap and I don't think that's what they intended.

Yelp
Missed opportunity to make things right. Our waitress and servers were good. The food was not. I have never left filet mignon on my plate until I ordered it at this restaurant. Mashed potatoes were cold and the street corn was shriveled and looked old. It was my friend's birthday so I decided not to complain to the staff about my meal. There was 20 people at our table in which they refuse to split checks which is fine however if you're going to run 15 cards you might as well split the checks. Also I gave them a coupon for $25 off the table and it was not honored because they said there were too many checks to split. The coupon clearly says per table not per check. I will not be returning to this restaurant. There are better restaurants in the Old Town area that I'd rather spend my money.

Carherine W.

Yelp
Everything was very lukewarm and doesn't seem very fresh. The pork chop is very over done, the steak is about the same as a lean cuisine meal. The whipped sweet potatoes are like hospital food. The margarita is like a low grade liquor store premix. It's fairly busy so locals must love it. I definitely don't need to return. Everyone around us was eating tortillas with little cups of something. We didn't see that on the menu. Everyone seemed super excited about it. Tortilla soup was like progreso. The chorizo fundido wasn't warm at all, and on a cold serving tray. Hostess was not so friendly. Our server was kind and friendly , but very checked out. The patio is nice. Lights are beautiful.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
The food here was good. The service was attentive but not fussy. The patio was far more picturesque and festive than the indoor seating. Lighting inside was poor where my group was seated. I enjoyed my dinner of the Oaxaca Bowl. The portion was more than I could finish. The veggies and aromatics were diced pretty fine and mixed in to the rice base. I ordered the shrimp. They were grilled and were slightly overcooked, but still tasty.i do wish the menu had been marked with gluten free options, but selecting options was not too hard based on typical Mexican food ingredients.

Alicia T.

Yelp
Was very disappointed I would rate this restaurant as one of the WORST places I've ever visited. We made a reservation but we were seated in the bar area (we had children in our party) and we made reservations for the restaurant not the bar!! The food was Bland, no Flavor, no Spices, Drinks were satisfactory. Order was placed, food was delivered from the kitchen, through the restaurant, outside, across the courtyard into the bar. No coverings on the food. Needless to say part of the food was cold once it was delivered to our tables. The chips were store bought, tortillas were fair, they did say they were made in house. Maybe the name should be changed. I would not return, if I could have used a minus on the star rating I would have. Parking is limited be careful you might be parking on the street.

Lawrence F.

Yelp
Hostess refused to seat us in outdoor seating in spite of over 50% of the outdoor tables were open through the night. Absolutely terrible customer service. The inside seating has the ambience of Taco Bell. Will not return.

Tim S.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Loved being able to enjoy a meal outdoors. Family friendly, wonderful atmosphere.
google avatar

Pepe P.

Yelp
Sadly this place was atrociously bad. Margarita seemed to be sprite and tequila and the chips were from the grocery store. And the queso was even worse. Luckily we got out of there before ordering a meal.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, excellent service. I highly recommend the Old Town Tortilla Factory.
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
Food was great service ok, but it still scores high as the environment is great. A huge patio and we did not feel crowded. Prices are very reasonable too
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Terrible wait times for drink and food items. Server was great and timing of food was most likely a result of poor table and back of house management. Total time to get food was 1.5 hours and when it came, it was cold and had to be sent back. The patio ambiance is great, however, regardless of the look, would never return.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
This place has a nice outdoor seating in Scottsdale. We attended a wedding rehearsal dinner and the bride and groom selected a limited menu which included chips/salsa, stuffed quesadilla for appetizer, house salad, and your choice of filet mignon or margarita chicken and desserts. I had the salad, chips, salsa and quesadilla which was food. My friend had the chicken and he said it was ok but a little too dry. Another friend had the filet, said it was good. Service was good. Since this was a large group, your experience might be different. Just reflecting on what we ate, it is probably a place I might try if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Constance P.

Yelp
Good service. Was very busy outside so we ate inside. Their tortillas of the night were chipotle with a herb butter. They were very interesting. The pork chop was a little dry but the sauce on top had a good flavor. The Oaxaca shrimp has too much rice but really good. Margaritas were awesome, actually ended up moving to the bar to have another round.

Yelp
What a fun place! Walked past it one day and noticed the lovely outdoor setting. We went for drinks & dinner and enjoyed it. We sat at the bar and could not get over how many different tequilas they have in stock - what an amazing display! Bartender was very nice & knowledgable about the tequilas (which of course we tried!). Loved the salsa - has a great kick! I have fish taco's and my husband loved his entree - great place - definitely recommend!
